A reminder of the day's main story... The | :00:00. | :00:00.
Tonight, serious questions are raised about the running | :00:00. | :00:08.
A report on the trust which runs Bradgate Park in Leicester raises | :00:09. | :00:18.
concerns about reputation and how the charity's funds are managed. | :00:19. | :00:20.
Also tonight, East Midlands shop owners sound the alarm over | :00:21. | :00:23.
It is a substantial bill and it is coming at a time | :00:24. | :00:29.
Plus in the sport, the Foxes are on their European tour. | :00:30. | :00:40.
They're hoping to take more away from Seville | :00:41. | :00:41.
And find out why two leading Nottingham actors are swapping | :00:42. | :00:46.
Good evening and welcome to the programme, with Anne Davies | :00:47. | :01:05.
A Nottinghamshire policeman admits he "made a mistake" after failing | :01:06. | :01:16.
to notice an elderly man was disqualified from driving. | :01:17. | :01:18.
87-year-old Albert Newman had dementia, and was banned in 2013. | :01:19. | :01:24.
But in October 2015, he caused a fatal accident | :01:25. | :01:26.
after driving the wrong way down the M1 in Leicestershire. | :01:27. | :01:29.
PC Jonathan Mortimer is facing charges of gross misconduct | :01:30. | :01:37.
after failing to spot the disqualification | :01:38. | :01:39.
during a separate incident two months earlier. | :01:40. | :01:40.
Giles, what is PC Mortimer accused of? | :01:41. | :01:49.
In August 2015, a member of staff at a Nottingham bank called police | :01:50. | :01:52.
to say Mr Newman had appeared confused before driving away. | :01:53. | :01:54.
But just two months later Albert Newman was involved in that | :01:55. | :01:58.
He collided with a van going the other way, | :01:59. | :02:03.
killing himself and a passenger in the van, Michael Luciw. | :02:04. | :02:05.
This prompted an investigation of the the earlier incident, | :02:06. | :02:08.
which led to three charges for PC Mortimer. | :02:09. | :02:10.
The first two are failing to make adequate enquiries, | :02:11. | :02:12.
The third, most serious allegation is that he falsely claimed to have | :02:13. | :02:20.
called the bank that originally made the report. | :02:21. | :02:22.
Today solicitors acting for the police authority said | :02:23. | :02:24.
this was a clear lie, designed to, in their words, | :02:25. | :02:26.
The 41-year-old has admitted to the first two charges, saying | :02:27. | :02:44.
But he says, to this day, he remembers calling the bank | :02:45. | :02:48.
to follow up their report, despite evidence to suggest | :02:49. | :02:51.
His defence counsel said he had no reason to lie, | :02:52. | :02:54.
and that he was let down by his memory and not his integrity. | :02:55. | :02:57.
The members of the panel have now retired to consider the evidence. | :02:58. | :03:00.
If they decide PC Mortimer's actions amount to gross misconduct, | :03:01. | :03:02.
he could face instant dismissal from the force. | :03:03. | :03:04.
Colin's in Seville for the Foxes' Champions League clash. | :03:05. | :03:08.
And Storm Doris is on the way tomorrow. | :03:09. | :03:10.
It is expected to move across the East Midlands. | :03:11. | :03:12.
I'll have a full forecast later in the | :03:13. | :03:14.
programme and what you may need to do to prepare. | :03:15. | :03:26.
The financial management and reputation of one | :03:27. | :03:28.
of our region's best-known public parks are under the spotlight. | :03:29. | :03:34.
BBC East Midlands Today has obtained an internal audit | :03:35. | :03:36.
into the trust which runs Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. | :03:37. | :03:40.
The park is a registered charity and gets some of its funds from both | :03:41. | :03:44.
The review highlights concerns about financial procedures | :03:45. | :03:48.
and recommends an investigation into the way staff are allowed | :03:49. | :03:51.
Simon Ward has this exclusive report. | :03:52. | :04:05.
More than half a million visitors come to enjoy | :04:06. | :04:07.
In 1928, it was given in trust to the people of Leicestershire. | :04:08. | :04:11.
Last year, on-site activities alone raised more than ?1 million. | :04:12. | :04:14.
The City and County Council funds now account for 3% of annual income. | :04:15. | :04:17.
Sales of venison, car parking charges and the tearoom are among | :04:18. | :04:19.
This internal audit into Bradgate Park trust was carried | :04:20. | :04:27.
out by Leicestershire County Council. | :04:28. | :04:33.
It says, among other recommendations, "Little assurance | :04:34. | :04:35.
"can be given that risks, including those of reputation | :04:36. | :04:37.
"and income recovery, can be mitigated.". | :04:38. | :04:38.
I put some of these points to county councillor Peter Osborne, | :04:39. | :04:41.
who has just taken over as chairman of the Bradgate Park Trust. | :04:42. | :04:44.
It is not finalised, and it would be really | :04:45. | :04:50.
That is the opinion of the auditors, so give us your opinion of that. | :04:51. | :04:59.
Well, I would have to go back to the auditors and ask | :05:00. | :05:02.
for an individual explanation of a particular item | :05:03. | :05:04.
But as I say, on something that is still under review, | :05:05. | :05:07.
Well, I would expect you when I have the information in front of me. | :05:08. | :05:19.
The report says in black and white it wants a disciplinary | :05:20. | :05:22.
investigation into staff about late rental payments and not paying rent. | :05:23. | :05:28.
What we do over the accommodation is that we have accommodation that | :05:29. | :05:31.
The rents are set by an independent estate agent and then that becomes | :05:32. | :05:37.
part of their salary and they pay rent on it. | :05:38. | :05:43.
The auditors found there are relaxed staff discounts, | :05:44. | :05:53.
possibly leading to issues in relation to tax liabilities. | :05:54. | :05:55.
It is serious if there were to be a possibility but that is all... | :05:56. | :05:59.
We review everything and when we said in the summer | :06:00. | :06:02.
that we wanted to have a look at our financial controls | :06:03. | :06:04.
and how we did things, what we said was, all right, | :06:05. | :06:07.
Is there any money missing or unaccounted for? | :06:08. | :06:10.
All we have are internal processes and procedures | :06:11. | :06:16.
In summarising all the recommendations in this report, | :06:17. | :06:21.
the auditors say it is now for the trust to urgently consider | :06:22. | :06:24.
Police in Derbyshire are renewing their appeal | :06:25. | :06:33.
for witnesses after a teenager died in a fatal crash at the weekend. | :06:34. | :06:37.
It happened on Ford Bridge Lane in South Normanton just before eight | :06:38. | :06:40.
14-year-old Connor Revill died after his push scooter | :06:41. | :06:45.
was in collision with a black Ford Fusion. | :06:46. | :06:47.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the car | :06:48. | :06:50.
A 27-year-old man has been released on bail while enquiries continue. | :06:51. | :07:00.
The Health Secretary has agreed to look into the decision to close | :07:01. | :07:03.
Lincolnshire County Council referred the decision | :07:04. | :07:06.
Today the authority received confirmation that an independent | :07:07. | :07:11.
panel will do an initial assessment of the decision, to see if a full | :07:12. | :07:15.
It comes on the same day three local MPs met with the Prime Minister | :07:16. | :07:21.
to raise their concerns about the unit closing overnight. | :07:22. | :07:28.
Colin's in Seville, a city famed for its oranges, | :07:29. | :07:31.
where Leicester City are hoping their Champions League | :07:32. | :07:32.
campaign doesn't come to a sticky end. | :07:33. | :07:45.
It could happen, one bad result and the whole campaign could be over for | :07:46. | :07:53.
Leicester City. But the fans are hoping for more. It is a grand | :07:54. | :07:58.
historic adventure and we'll talk about it in the sport later. | :07:59. | :08:04.
Local shops are warning an impending re-evaluation | :08:05. | :08:06.
of their business rates will hit our high streets hard. | :08:07. | :08:08.
The amount paid to local councils by all businesses, | :08:09. | :08:10.
not just retailers, will be announced this Friday. | :08:11. | :08:12.
And in many cases, business owners are bracing themselves for a rise. | :08:13. | :08:15.
It's prompted the Broxtowe MP, Anna Soubry, a former | :08:16. | :08:17.
Business Minister, to call for a fundamental rethink | :08:18. | :08:19.
of the entire system which the region's Chamber | :08:20. | :08:21.
Nottingham is said to have the highest percentage | :08:22. | :08:41.
of independent retailers in a city centre outside of London. | :08:42. | :08:43.
One of the oldest is this cards and gift shop, | :08:44. | :08:46.
which has been trading for more than 40 years. | :08:47. | :08:48.
Their business rate, the government's tax | :08:49. | :08:49.
on business properties, is about to go up. | :08:50. | :08:52.
Our increase is likely to be about ?4000-?5,000 a year extra. | :08:53. | :08:56.
That is over and above the ?44,000 we already pay. | :08:57. | :09:00.
So it is a substantial bill, and it is coming at a time | :09:01. | :09:03.
A few hundred metres around the corner from The Tokenhouse | :09:04. | :09:13.
is the Treat Kitchen, a chain of five sweet shops | :09:14. | :09:16.
In the last six months, our product has become more expensive, | :09:17. | :09:26.
our cost of staff has gone up by about 5%, our sales | :09:27. | :09:29.
have dropped about 10%, and now our rates are going up. | :09:30. | :09:31.
So we are struggling to maintain the network of five shops | :09:32. | :09:34.
as a result of all of these added pressures in the last six months. | :09:35. | :09:37.
The Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry, herself a former Business Minister, | :09:38. | :09:40.
is calling for the rates to be radically reformed or scrapped. | :09:41. | :09:42.
A view shared by the East Midlands chamber of commerce. | :09:43. | :09:45.
Members feel so strongly, the chief executive has | :09:46. | :09:47.
written to the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, asking him | :09:48. | :09:49.
to reconsider the way the rates are calculated. | :09:50. | :09:52.
The way business rates work in the UK currently | :09:53. | :09:55.
Businesses in the UK face the highest upfront costs | :09:56. | :09:58.
What we are calling for, at the chamber, | :09:59. | :10:04.
We need something based on a business's ability to pay, | :10:05. | :10:11.
something that encourages those businesses looking to invest | :10:12. | :10:13.
and grow and something that is fair for businesses of all sizes. | :10:14. | :10:20.
The Chancellor will deliver his Spring budget next month. | :10:21. | :10:22.
Tory MPs and small businesses will want to see if he offers any | :10:23. | :10:25.
financial support to independent retailers and businesses | :10:26. | :10:26.
facing significant increases in their rates. | :10:27. | :10:37.
Campaigners have been protesting outside Leicester's town | :10:38. | :10:39.
hall today against plans to shut down their local | :10:40. | :10:42.
library and merge it with a nearby recreation centre. | :10:43. | :10:46.
The City Council says the move would save around ?15,000 a year. | :10:47. | :10:50.
But users of Rushey Mead library are warning it would put a whole | :10:51. | :10:54.
Making a racket to save their library. These protesters are angry | :10:55. | :11:12.
about council plans to move their local library in Rushey Mead into | :11:13. | :11:16.
the nearby recreation centre, saving the council around ?15,000. They're | :11:17. | :11:22.
talking about merging two buildings. If that happens, how do you get 130 | :11:23. | :11:27.
square metres of library into 40 square metres of the building | :11:28. | :11:31.
currently earmarked? The building will be too small, it is just a few | :11:32. | :11:37.
rooms, and our normal library is much bigger. How important is the | :11:38. | :11:43.
library building to the community? Very important, it is the heart and | :11:44. | :11:49.
lifeline of Rushey Mead. This is one of the most daft proposal the | :11:50. | :11:53.
council has ever come up with. You take a library twice the size of | :11:54. | :11:57.
this building here, this room, put it in this room and pretend | :11:58. | :12:02.
everything can carry on as before. Children trying to do their homework | :12:03. | :12:06.
while elderly people are having their lunch club. The council says | :12:07. | :12:13.
it is in during cuts from central government. We are trying to do this | :12:14. | :12:22.
as an authority, to safeguard services and reduce cost around | :12:23. | :12:28.
buildings. Will there be a scenario with aerobics in one room and kids | :12:29. | :12:33.
trying to do homework in the next? There are are more than enough | :12:34. | :12:40.
opportunities and gaps in the timetables for this. There should be | :12:41. | :12:44.
little issue in regards to providing both sets of services. The council | :12:45. | :12:49.
will decide at the meeting tonight whether to go ahead with the merger. | :12:50. | :12:52.
Time now for the third of this week's reports on sugar. | :12:53. | :12:54.
And with a sugar tax on soft drinks looming, | :12:55. | :12:56.
the boss of one East Midlands manufacturer is calling | :12:57. | :12:59.
Belvoir Fruit Farms has been expanding for 30 years. | :13:00. | :13:04.
But its managing director is worried it could be ruined by any | :13:05. | :13:06.
levy on its cordials and sparkling drinks. | :13:07. | :13:08.
Our Health Correspondent Rob Sissons has this report. | :13:09. | :13:21.
Presses, cordials, made in the shadow of Belvoir Castle. | :13:22. | :13:24.
It's a business that employs over 80 people and turns over more | :13:25. | :13:27.
But the boss is really worried about the sugar levy. | :13:28. | :13:33.
These will be taxed a lot and we've got to work out whether we can make | :13:34. | :13:37.
them with lower sugar but with the same amount of quality | :13:38. | :13:40.
taste so that customers who love them will not be put off by them. | :13:41. | :13:43.
If they do attract the tax, a classic example is ginger beer. | :13:44. | :13:46.
Ginger beer, because it is so peppery and sharp | :13:47. | :13:48.
with the taste of ginger, it needs sugar to soften it. | :13:49. | :13:51.
That one, if we make the ginger beer without sugar, | :13:52. | :13:53.
it really doesn't taste very nice at all. | :13:54. | :13:59.
Some people will say sugar is sugar and we've got to do something | :14:00. | :14:02.
It's not just taxing soft drinks, though. | :14:03. | :14:06.
Much better would be to tax bulk sugar. | :14:07. | :14:08.
If you taxed sugar which went in everything then the government | :14:09. | :14:11.
The sugar tax could work out at least 18p more on the firm's | :14:12. | :14:17.
sparkling elderflower presse and put more than a pound on the cost | :14:18. | :14:20.
Up to 100,000 bottles pass along this production line every day. | :14:21. | :14:24.
This business is worried about the sugar tax, | :14:25. | :14:25.
that it could put the brakes on expansion or even put | :14:26. | :14:28.
It could have a profound impact on us, depending | :14:29. | :14:40.
on how high it is set, where exactly these things kick in, | :14:41. | :14:43.
Manufacturers are not forced to pass on the tax to consumers but this | :14:44. | :14:48.
company warns they probably won't be able to afford not to. | :14:49. | :15:00.
There'll be one name missing from the ballot paper | :15:01. | :15:02.
After a 20-year career, Dave Bishop from Nottingham, | :15:03. | :15:05.
also known as Lord Biro, has decided to stand down | :15:06. | :15:07.
The Bus Pass Elvis Party member made his name, | :15:08. | :15:14.
in fact, several names, as part of that British tradition | :15:15. | :15:16.
of eccentric parliamentary candidates who always | :15:17. | :15:19.
Our political editor Tony Roe's been to meet him. | :15:20. | :15:25.
Bishop, David Lawrence, Bus Pass Elvis Party, 67. | :15:26. | :15:34.
David Bishop, a self-styled post-secondary modern artist. | :15:35. | :15:37.
But after 20 years on the national stage, that's it. | :15:38. | :15:44.
A lot of people have had a go at me since and said, | :15:45. | :15:47.
"You shouldn't have stopped, Dave, and you should have kept | :15:48. | :15:49.
going," and all this stuff is going on in the world, | :15:50. | :15:52.
Neil Hamilton, I remember his wife saying when I bumped | :15:53. | :15:58.
I remember that, doing the Tatton election. | :15:59. | :16:03.
So after a career of lost deposits and sharing platforms | :16:04. | :16:06.
with mainstream politicians, he is retiring. | :16:07. | :16:07.
Never a winner but some minor victories in some local | :16:08. | :16:11.
I stood there for the Militant Elvis Anti-Tesco Popular Front and got | :16:12. | :16:19.
cashed in and got 323 votes and a great slogan was, "Elvis | :16:20. | :16:22.
He'll continue his art, his YouTube films, but Donald Trump's foreign | :16:23. | :16:35.
policy might yet bring him out of retirement. | :16:36. | :16:36.
Donald Trump's been doing a bit of sabre rattling | :16:37. | :16:39.
I thought, "If a situation arises there, I think I ought to come stand | :16:40. | :16:43.
in the national interest on that one." | :16:44. | :16:45.
Elvis and the Yeti Himalayan Preservation Party. | :16:46. | :16:50.
Save the yeti from extinction, uh-huh-huh. | :16:51. | :17:01.
Where would we be without our eccentrics? | :17:02. | :17:08.
And there still are a lot of eccentrics actively in politics. And | :17:09. | :17:14.
now Colin is in Seville for an important football match. | :17:15. | :17:17.
Just slightly important! What an adventure. These are all the fans, | :17:18. | :17:25.
Leicester and locals from Seville taking selfies. This is what a big | :17:26. | :17:31.
Champions League night can do for clubs, it can galvanise a season. | :17:32. | :17:37.
This is the knockout stages, last 16 of the Champions League. History | :17:38. | :17:42.
making for Leicester City. They're under the threat of relegation and | :17:43. | :17:46.
all the pressure means that what should be a treat could be turning | :17:47. | :17:52.
into a chore. Even so, the fans have travelled | :17:53. | :17:54.
in their thousands upon thousands. They are not, though, | :17:55. | :17:57.
expecting very much. We decided we are going to enjoy it | :17:58. | :17:59.
as a holiday and not The football match | :18:00. | :18:02.
can go to the side. Here's some pretty pictures | :18:03. | :18:05.
of Seville instead. But there is actually some football | :18:06. | :18:21.
to be played here and this Leicester's terrible | :18:22. | :18:26.
league form and lack of European experience compares really | :18:27. | :18:30.
badly to that of Seville. It is not hard to find | :18:31. | :18:32.
pessimistic voices. We are champions | :18:33. | :18:35.
of England but we are certainly not playing | :18:36. | :18:40.
like champions at the minute. We've not been defending | :18:41. | :18:42.
well, we've stopped scoring goals, one result tonight | :18:43. | :18:46.
could change everything. It is about pride, | :18:47. | :18:50.
you know, going and If we get beat, let's | :18:51. | :18:52.
not get rolled over. Amid all that, the players visibly | :18:53. | :18:55.
enjoyed themselves training in the stadium and the Champions League | :18:56. | :18:58.
so far has gone better for Leicester If we win, if we do a very good | :18:59. | :19:01.
game, something inside It is a new season so, like I say, | :19:02. | :19:06.
we need to work hard, each and The boss, the staff, | :19:07. | :19:18.
the players themselves, and then come game time when we step | :19:19. | :19:28.
over the white line, we need to make sure that we put it | :19:29. | :19:31.
all into practice. Still soaking up the disbelieving | :19:32. | :19:34.
joy that they are It is not hard to find optimistic | :19:35. | :19:38.
voices in Seville either. I wouldn't have come | :19:39. | :19:44.
here if I didn't In this bull-fighting | :19:45. | :19:54.
city, then, Leicester will take to a ring | :19:55. | :19:56.
and face an opponent It is good, I want the matadors, | :19:57. | :19:58.
the gladiators, the soldiers, Claudio Ranieri. We have lost Colin | :19:59. | :20:16.
for the moment in Spain but we will have an update in our late bulletin | :20:17. | :20:18.
at 10:30pm. Just away from Spain for the moment, | :20:19. | :20:22.
and Derby County's play-off hopes took another dent last night | :20:23. | :20:25.
with a goalless draw A miss from two yards | :20:26. | :20:27.
from Darren Bent was the killer. It was the best chance | :20:28. | :20:31.
against a stubborn Burton defence. Derby have failed to win their last | :20:32. | :20:33.
three home games and have slipped And a quick mention | :20:34. | :20:36.
to the Nottingham Panthers for their 7-4 win over league | :20:37. | :20:40.
leaders Cardiff Devils last night. More from Colin on the late edition | :20:41. | :20:50.
tonight. They've become familiar faces | :20:51. | :20:54.
on the small screen but now the Nottingham actors Vicky McClure | :20:55. | :20:56.
and Aisling Loftus are treading Touched is a play exploring life | :20:57. | :20:59.
in the city at the end of the Second World War as seen | :21:00. | :21:04.
through the eyes of one family. Geeta Pendse has | :21:05. | :21:07.
been to take a look. I can hear you, love. Being sick | :21:08. | :21:26.
every morning past couple of weeks. Yeah, the fumes. Sandra, I your | :21:27. | :21:35.
sister, it's me, Joan. You always wear clothes but even you can't hide | :21:36. | :21:39.
this forever. A devastating truth at the centre of a play capturing the | :21:40. | :21:43.
lives of three Nottingham sisters at the end of World War II. Touched is | :21:44. | :21:48.
about the woman left to fend for themselves. In the lead role is the | :21:49. | :21:54.
award-winning actress Vicky McClure, who could draw on her own family | :21:55. | :21:59.
history. My grandparents both lived through it. They came and watched it | :22:00. | :22:05.
on the first night and I asked them lots of questions, what was it like? | :22:06. | :22:14.
What did it feel like? Someone has got an old mattress, we'll get | :22:15. | :22:20.
things for the bonfire. Nottingham actor Aisling Loftus is now stranger | :22:21. | :22:29.
to dramas. You don't often come across things with such good parts | :22:30. | :22:33.
for women where the women are so well drawn. We know that when the | :22:34. | :22:44.
men were over in the War of the women had to graft, and that still | :22:45. | :22:48.
resonates to me with the women in Nottingham. I am proud of that. The | :22:49. | :22:54.
play is Vicky McClure's confessional stage debut. I have never performed | :22:55. | :23:00.
professionally in front of an audience like this so it is a first. | :23:01. | :23:06.
You just have to try it. To work with her was a real... You will make | :23:07. | :23:11.
me blush. I jumped at the chance. Big fan. I am a big fan of horror. | :23:12. | :23:19.
It sounds like I'm just saying it but she knows. Touched is on at the | :23:20. | :23:24.
Nottingham Playhouse until the end of next week. | :23:25. | :23:28.
That is brilliant they have both come back to their hometown to tread | :23:29. | :23:36.
the boards. OK, we can now go back to Colin. | :23:37. | :23:41.
It is a shame not to talk about this match in more depth. I have Rob | :23:42. | :23:49.
Tanner from the Leicester Mercury. We heard Claudio Ranieri wanted | :23:50. | :23:53.
warriors. They have to get their battling heads on. It will be the | :23:54. | :23:59.
toughest test this season. We heard a lot of the fans talking about the | :24:00. | :24:03.
best they could hope for was a 3-1 defeat. Have we got to get | :24:04. | :24:09.
enthusiastic? I think just forget about the mystic troubles and enjoy | :24:10. | :24:13.
this moment. Leicester City are taking on Seville in the last 16 of | :24:14. | :24:17.
the Champions League. It's incredible, just enjoy it. Claudio | :24:18. | :24:22.
Ranieri, what does he have to do in the dressing room? He has to | :24:23. | :24:27.
galvanise them and get them all playing. They have to find it in | :24:28. | :24:30.
themselves, a lot of responsibility comes from them as well. I think | :24:31. | :24:35.
they will rise to the occasion, they have been waiting all season but | :24:36. | :24:39.
this might be the right stage for them, especially people like Mahrez. | :24:40. | :24:47.
Full coverage on BBC Radio Leicester this evening and Robson newspaper -- | :24:48. | :24:55.
Rob's newspaper will round things up tomorrow. Time for Leicester City to | :24:56. | :25:00.
get their enthusiasm back. We will be watching. They have gathered | :25:01. | :25:04.
behind us. Fingers crossed. I think Seville was | :25:05. | :25:09.
frightened by my orange top! Let's take a look at the weather. | :25:10. | :25:13.
There is a lot to talk about. Storm Doris is on the way but as we | :25:14. | :25:27.
go through the next few hours we have an amber weather warning for | :25:28. | :25:31.
wind. That is from 6am tomorrow to around 8pm tomorrow. We are having | :25:32. | :25:37.
reports of some events being cancelled tomorrow so tune in to | :25:38. | :25:42.
your BBC local radio station or check out local life pages to find | :25:43. | :25:47.
out. What might happen over the next 24 hours? We could see some | :25:48. | :25:51.
difficulty with trees coming down, fences coming down, and the | :25:52. | :25:58.
temptation for some tricky driving conditions, particularly for high | :25:59. | :26:02.
sided vehicles. Take extra care. It is not saying that it will | :26:03. | :26:05.
definitely happen but be prepared with the amber warning. In the East | :26:06. | :26:11.
Midlands we expect to be right in the centre of the amber warning | :26:12. | :26:17.
area. We could see gusts of 60 or 70 mph, perhaps up to 80 miles an hour | :26:18. | :26:23.
over higher ground. Take extra care tomorrow. The strongest gusts are | :26:24. | :26:28.
expected between three and 4pm. This is the track we expect Doris to | :26:29. | :26:38.
take. Nice buyers -- the isobars are squeezing together. We expect | :26:39. | :26:43.
widespread rain particularly in the early hours tonight. Tomorrow | :26:44. | :26:51.
morning we expect more rain on the way and gusts of wind picking up of | :26:52. | :26:57.
the afternoon. 50-60 mph in places. A little brightness towards the end | :26:58. | :27:02.
of the day with highs of around ten Celsius. Some respite on Friday, a | :27:03. | :27:07.
bit cooler, and then more wet and windy weather on Saturday. Whatever | :27:08. | :27:14.
you do over the next 24-48 hours, stay in touch with the forecast | :27:15. | :27:19.
because we expect lively weather on the way. | :27:20. | :27:21.
And if you're affected by Storm Doris tomorrow, | :27:22. | :27:23.
wherever you are in the region, we'd love you to get in touch. | :27:24. | :27:26.
Send us your stories and pictures via our Facebook page. | :27:27. | :27:38.
And that Facebook page is always worth a look anyway. | :27:39. | :27:44.
Fingers crossed it is not too bad. And we'll be back with all the | :27:45. | :27:45.
football at 10:30pm. Good job, guys. | :27:46. | :27:54.
We totally nailed it. This year, fundraising kits are | :27:55. | :27:56.
going to be sent through the post. | :27:57. | :28:01. |
