A man from Derby's been charged today with making preparations

He was arrested earlier this month and appeared this morning

at Westminster Magistrates' Court, alongside a woman

in Derby as part of an anti-terror operation. Six people in total were

arrested. In Derby, Burton on Trent and London. Four have been released

without charge. Today a woman from London and a man from Derby appeared

at Westminster Magistrates' Court. This 35-year-old, from Leopold

Street in Derby, is charged with preparing an act of terror. He is

also charged with being a member of the so-called Islamic State,

possessing information useful to terrorism, and dissemination of

terrorist publications. He is an Eritrean national who is seeking

asylum in the UK. He did not enter a plea and is due to appear in court

again on the 12th of January. Derbyshire police says it is

continuing to work closely with partners and communities to reassure

local people and protect the public. The Ministry of Justice say

there's been no trouble at Lowdham Grange Prison,

despite claims on social media. The Category B men's jail

is operating a normal regime, it says, with prisoners

in their cells. It also won't comment on reports

that some prisoners were moved from the Nottinghamshire jail last

night to prevent trouble. It comes after riots at two other

British jails in the past week. The cause of a fire at a house

in Ashby is under investigation. It broke out early this morning

in the home on Ivanhoe Drive. A woman was treated for the

effects of breathing in smoke. It's understood locals are rallying

around to help those affected A family business in

Castle Donington is preparing to cook Christmas dinner for

scores of people tomorrow. They want to make sure no-one

spends the special day alone. Richard Davis joined

them while they've been Getting ready for Christmas Day.

Moylan Dale Village Hall is being transformed to allow people who

would spend this Christmas alone to come together. It was set up by

local funeral directors in 2014 and it's grown since then.

The first year we had about 23 people. Last year we had 48. This

year we're going to have 80 people. Their faces just light up. They make

new friends. Some people now, they come together. Whereas before they

came for the first year on their own. They now come together and make

lovely friendships and bonds. Everything is donated from local

businesses and the community. Guests will have a dinner, a chance to chat

and will even leave with a goodie bag. The cooking - that is left to

grandma and mum. It's fine, it's just a few extra.

I'm used to it. I'm trained as a chef. It's amazing how people come

together - anyone with different skill sets. There's always something

for someone to do. Guests can stay as long as they want, and they will

be welcomed back next year. Is like my family becoming bigger

and it just keeps going. My family's actually a large amount of people

now. This is Christmas, sharing it with people like this. This is
