A warning of more deaths from faulty white | :00:00. | :00:08.
goods if new safety measures aren't introduced. | :00:09. | :00:14.
Nine people have lost their lives where there have been faulty white | :00:15. | :00:18.
goods, there are still people in this city that still have that now, | :00:19. | :00:20.
it is a matter of life and death. London Fire Brigade say there needs | :00:21. | :00:22.
to be an improvement to the way The mother and her teenage | :00:23. | :00:25.
son shot by a gang. She says, one year on, they're | :00:26. | :00:29.
still waiting to be rehoused. Transport for London | :00:30. | :00:35.
investigate the moment this seemingly driverless bus moves | :00:36. | :00:36.
onto a busy London road. And you've heard of poodle | :00:37. | :00:42.
parlours, and cat cafes, but would you take your dog | :00:43. | :00:44.
to the cinema? Good evening and welcome | :00:45. | :00:56.
to the programme. Nine Londoners have died | :00:57. | :00:58.
in the last seven years because of fires caused | :00:59. | :01:03.
by white goods. The head of London Fire Brigade | :01:04. | :01:06.
and the Mayor of London say more people will lose their lives | :01:07. | :01:09.
if Ministers don't The Grenfell Tower fire in June | :01:10. | :01:11.
is believed to have started And a year ago, a fire at a tower | :01:12. | :01:18.
block in Shepherd's Bush Here's our Political | :01:19. | :01:26.
Correspondent Karl Mercer. Shepherd's Bush a year ago, | :01:27. | :01:31.
and a fire on the eighth floor of a tower block, | :01:32. | :01:33.
caused by a faulty tumble drier. No-one died in the fire, | :01:34. | :01:36.
but this was what was left Chantal Froelich lives two doors | :01:37. | :01:38.
along, and like neighbours, spent three months out of her flat | :01:39. | :01:43.
after the fire, which she'd seen I could see it was kind | :01:44. | :01:46.
of around my floor area but didn't I was just a horrible, | :01:47. | :01:52.
horrible feeling. It was chaos out there, | :01:53. | :01:59.
police and fire, and people just going crazy because the shopping | :02:00. | :02:01.
centre was being evacuated. This was the tumble drier | :02:02. | :02:04.
blamed for the fire, which led to calls from London's | :02:05. | :02:08.
fire brigade for more to be done to highlight the potential dangers | :02:09. | :02:11.
of faulty white goods. It's thought the Grenfell Tower fire | :02:12. | :02:13.
was started after problems The brigade wants the Government | :02:14. | :02:16.
to set up a simple website where people can get information | :02:17. | :02:22.
about their white goods. I don't think it is an unreasonable | :02:23. | :02:28.
ask to have a central point where a member of the public can | :02:29. | :02:31.
check to see if their product is safe and it means | :02:32. | :02:34.
they are going to be safe Grenfell Tower aside, | :02:35. | :02:37.
the brigade says nine people have died from fires blamed on faulty | :02:38. | :02:40.
white goods in the last sevem years. On average, it goes to one fire | :02:41. | :02:43.
a day blamed on them. Nine people have lost | :02:44. | :02:47.
their lives where there have There are people in London who have | :02:48. | :02:49.
got some of those now. It is up to lately a matter | :02:50. | :02:53.
of life and death. Lawyers representing | :02:54. | :02:56.
Chantal and others affected by the Shepherd's Bush fire have | :02:57. | :02:58.
backed the fire brigade's call. We need a complete shake-up of | :02:59. | :03:00.
the product recall system in the UK. We are talking about | :03:01. | :03:03.
the risk of fire equalling This is an important | :03:04. | :03:06.
issue for consumers We are living with ticking time | :03:07. | :03:08.
bombs and it is not fair. You are playing with people's | :03:09. | :03:16.
lives and you guys need to pull your fingers out and do | :03:17. | :03:18.
something ASAP, really. The Government said it | :03:19. | :03:21.
did have a website up and running that people could use to find out | :03:22. | :03:23.
if their white goods It also said it would respond | :03:24. | :03:26.
to the fire brigade's letter. Consumer champion Lynn | :03:27. | :03:32.
Faulds Woods has reviewed the product safety recall | :03:33. | :03:35.
system and made a series I spoke to her a short time ago | :03:36. | :03:37.
and began by asking what can be done to reduce the number | :03:38. | :03:44.
of fires in white goods. The Govan said to me there is no | :03:45. | :03:53.
money and we do not want new laws so the first thing I wanted was someone | :03:54. | :03:58.
to be in charge officially and I quietly said why don't you appoint | :03:59. | :04:03.
someone you can get rid of if you do not like them? But you will be | :04:04. | :04:08.
paying them to start the job and we wanted a website where people can | :04:09. | :04:11.
find things, an official Government backed website. What they have come | :04:12. | :04:16.
up with which they say makes it clear to the public, it is just a | :04:17. | :04:21.
portal, a pointing portal to various websites. I looked at that website | :04:22. | :04:29.
and it does seem there is a prize Asian of the problematic white | :04:30. | :04:35.
goods. Not all the products are on their when I looked at it and I | :04:36. | :04:39.
could not find it at first because it was not well advertised and I do | :04:40. | :04:43.
not think of the public are finding it in large numbers either because | :04:44. | :04:48.
it is not seem to be very well put out there to people. I think they | :04:49. | :04:54.
need to do better. What about the obligations of manufacturers? We're | :04:55. | :04:58.
told only 10-20% of re-called rods are returned. That suggests the | :04:59. | :05:03.
message is not getting through to concern is. It's maybe getting sued | :05:04. | :05:07.
them, but they do not know where to go. What the manufacturers ought to | :05:08. | :05:13.
do is first of all helped to contribute a fighting fund towards | :05:14. | :05:17.
the people who have suffered, lost their homes, because at the moment | :05:18. | :05:23.
we threw our taxes and council payments are paying for things, | :05:24. | :05:26.
mainly paying for the Fire Service is Hugo winner and trading standards | :05:27. | :05:36.
and it is just a mess, a general message that the system is broken | :05:37. | :05:39.
and it is broken from two years on one I gave in the review. What is | :05:40. | :05:43.
your message for consumers who are watching this and worried about | :05:44. | :05:48.
their own safety? What message to them? I think it is terrible you | :05:49. | :05:54.
have been left worried. It took Whirlpool a long time to tell you to | :05:55. | :05:59.
one plug your machine and not use it when you weren't present and that is | :06:00. | :06:03.
the advice, I'm afraid. If you have got affected machines you have heard | :06:04. | :06:07.
about them a plug for when you are not using them, and when you use | :06:08. | :06:10.
them, do it when you are in the house. Really urgent thing is people | :06:11. | :06:14.
cannot unplug your fridge freezer and when you are asleep, some of the | :06:15. | :06:18.
fridge freezers have got fire is low. I do not want to worry people. | :06:19. | :06:24.
I think the Government who have done precious little to spend money on | :06:25. | :06:28.
this need to do better. Thank you very much for joining us. | :06:29. | :06:31.
The Government told us the day I wanted to keep people safe and there | :06:32. | :06:39.
is a system in place so if you are concerned about your white goods, | :06:40. | :06:42.
you can use the website that the Government have set up. The details | :06:43. | :06:44.
on your screen now. How many weekly titles | :06:45. | :06:45.
are turning the tide and making a comeback | :06:46. | :06:54.
after years of decline. A woman who witnessed her son | :06:55. | :07:02.
being shot in the head - leaving him severely brain damaged - | :07:03. | :07:05.
says she's been unable to take him home because the authorities haven't | :07:06. | :07:08.
found anywhere appropriate Police say it's not safe | :07:09. | :07:10.
for her or her son to return home, meaning it's also unsafe for us | :07:11. | :07:16.
to identify them in this report. Hello, my sweetheart, I am here. | :07:17. | :07:30.
This mother witnessed her son shot in the head a year ago. He has been | :07:31. | :07:34.
in a non-responsive state ever since. He was ready to be discharged | :07:35. | :07:39.
but was not able to go home because the police say it is not safe for | :07:40. | :07:43.
them to return. Since the incident, I have been beside him. I slept at | :07:44. | :07:47.
the hospital for a week, so the hospital said we can put you up in a | :07:48. | :07:51.
relative 's rim but it is only temporary. I stayed there for nearly | :07:52. | :08:01.
six months. I could not be away from my son, I needed to be there and | :08:02. | :08:04.
pray for him and know what was going on with him. She currently lives in | :08:05. | :08:07.
a hotel room paid for by her housing association. It is almost a year to | :08:08. | :08:10.
the day since the family had to flee their home because of fear of | :08:11. | :08:15.
rivals, but pen out series disabled son have felt through the net. No | :08:16. | :08:19.
one seems to be able to resolve her housing needs. It is the worst | :08:20. | :08:25.
situation ever. I feel isolated and alienate it. I feel vulnerable. She | :08:26. | :08:30.
has been trained to seek help from her local MP, David Lambie. In a | :08:31. | :08:34.
statement he said, I have been pressing Haringey Council and other | :08:35. | :08:38.
searches and is to help. But Haringey Council and other | :08:39. | :08:46.
researches say... They say... But she says the offer so far have | :08:47. | :09:05.
not been suitable for her son's disabilities. This man whose son was | :09:06. | :09:12.
killed in nine years ago in London also campaigns for victims of gun | :09:13. | :09:15.
and knife crime. He says the system is broken. I think it depends on | :09:16. | :09:21.
whether the person lives or dies. I think it is as clear cut and brutal | :09:22. | :09:27.
as bad. The support putting forward for victims of homicide should apply | :09:28. | :09:31.
here and do could be practical issues in housing are emotionally | :09:32. | :09:37.
shuffles, but that is not their radio -- not there at the moment. | :09:38. | :09:43.
She continued to go to the nursing home and ideally bases. There is too | :09:44. | :09:49.
much stress. Sometimes I feel I can't breathe and I have to keep | :09:50. | :09:53.
praying really hard, I feel shaky and everything because I know I am | :09:54. | :09:58.
ready to be my home, ready to move my son on, but this is causing us | :09:59. | :09:59.
trauma. The mother of a young man | :10:00. | :10:02.
who was shot by a gang speaking Transport for London | :10:03. | :10:05.
is investigating footage of a bus appearing to move onto a busy road | :10:06. | :10:08.
without a driver, after BBC London It was all filmed by a camera | :10:09. | :10:12.
on a cabbie's dashboard. Our Transport Correspondent | :10:13. | :10:16.
Tom Edwards has been Marylebone Road early | :10:17. | :10:18.
on Sunday morning. This is the footage from a black | :10:19. | :10:24.
cab's dashboard camera. You can hear him talking | :10:25. | :10:27.
to his passenger when this happens. A bus mounts the curb | :10:28. | :10:30.
and pulls out into the road, Then, from the side, | :10:31. | :10:33.
the driver jumps behind the steering He then reverses it off the road | :10:34. | :10:41.
and waves at the cab. The whole incident in total | :10:42. | :10:48.
lasts five seconds. It looks like there is just one | :10:49. | :10:53.
other passenger on board and the driver stops the bus just | :10:54. | :10:56.
before it hits the Buses and bus driving have been | :10:57. | :10:59.
under the spotlight recently This was a crash on Lavender | :11:00. | :11:06.
Hill in Battersea. And a London Assembly report found | :11:07. | :11:11.
high levels of stress and long shifts amongst drivers, | :11:12. | :11:17.
and London's bus safety record does not compare well | :11:18. | :11:19.
to other world cities. It's not clear yet why this incident | :11:20. | :11:24.
involving the 453 bus happened. Transport for London have asked | :11:25. | :11:29.
the bus operator Go-Ahead No-one was hurt in the incident, | :11:30. | :11:32.
but this will again focus attention A jury at the Old Bailey have | :11:33. | :11:37.
started their deliberations in the trial of a cyclist | :11:38. | :11:48.
accused of killing a mother of two who was crossing | :11:49. | :11:50.
the street in her lunch hour. 20-year-old Charlie Alliston | :11:51. | :11:54.
is charged with manslaughter 44-year-old Kim Briggs from Lewisham | :11:55. | :11:56.
suffered "catastrophic" injuries when the pair clashed heads | :11:57. | :12:02.
in February last year. Police are hunting for a man | :12:03. | :12:04.
in his mid-twenties who sprayed acid in the face | :12:05. | :12:10.
of a 32-year-old man. Police have released this | :12:11. | :12:13.
impression of the suspect who allegedly spoke | :12:14. | :12:15.
with a London accent. The acid attack happened | :12:16. | :12:18.
near Stratford underground station in May after the suspect demanded | :12:19. | :12:20.
money from the victim. Stevenage Football Club has been | :12:21. | :12:25.
accused of asking visiting female fans to lift their tops | :12:26. | :12:32.
and show their bras A supporters group representing | :12:33. | :12:34.
Grimsby Town fans made the claim Both Stevenage and the | :12:35. | :12:39.
Football League are now Emma Jones is outside Stevenage's | :12:40. | :12:43.
ground for us this evening It is the allegations made by | :12:44. | :12:59.
Grimsby town fans who came on Saturday for their League 2 fixture | :13:00. | :13:03.
against Stevenage. It is about security checks they claim they went | :13:04. | :13:07.
through on the way in, claims some female fans were asked by female | :13:08. | :13:12.
stewards if they could feel their bras to see if they were under | :13:13. | :13:16.
wired. I spoke to one fan who came with a female companion, he said the | :13:17. | :13:21.
actor been asked by the bra, the steward touched her to verify the | :13:22. | :13:25.
claim of it being under wired and there are claims ten women were | :13:26. | :13:28.
asked to lift up their tops to show their bras to stewards, that in | :13:29. | :13:32.
front of other fans waiting to get in. A trust which are the supporters | :13:33. | :13:38.
group for Grimsby town have now written a very strongly worded | :13:39. | :13:43.
statement to Stevenage and other organisations about security checks | :13:44. | :13:46.
here. They say the searches were a gross invasion of privacy the also | :13:47. | :13:54.
wonder if they were legal and believe the searches were unlawful. | :13:55. | :13:56.
They were perplexed as white security would scare as to whether a | :13:57. | :14:03.
woman hadn't underwired bra. We had no previous intelligence to these | :14:04. | :14:07.
type of search is being implemented against female supporters. Grimsby | :14:08. | :14:10.
town fans say they appreciate that in these difficult times, security | :14:11. | :14:15.
is an important issue. So what have the football club had say about this | :14:16. | :14:20.
at Stevenage? Have released a statement which will I will | :14:21. | :14:23.
paraphrase. They say stewarding on Saturday was not typical of what | :14:24. | :14:28.
they usually deliver at a game. They say a risk assessment suggested the | :14:29. | :14:33.
potential for anti-social and uncooperative behaviour. They say no | :14:34. | :14:37.
incidents were recorded on the day of inappropriate behaviour. If they | :14:38. | :14:40.
had been, they would have dealt with them. The clip takes the allegations | :14:41. | :14:48.
seriously, they will study CCTV to ensure no infringements of excepted | :14:49. | :14:50.
procedures took place. Thank you very much. | :14:51. | :14:52.
There are plenty of ways you can pamper your pooch here in London. | :14:53. | :14:58.
And I'll be finding out about a new activity available to them. | :14:59. | :15:09.
And we are into some tropical ad, so it will have been warned today if it | :15:10. | :15:16.
were not for all the cloud, but will it budge tomorrow? Full forecast | :15:17. | :15:17.
later. Our sometimes fractious relationship | :15:18. | :15:23.
with the tube has been laid bear thanks to some | :15:24. | :15:26.
research by YouGov. It seems less than a quarter | :15:27. | :15:28.
of Londoners want fellow passengers to start conversations with them | :15:29. | :15:32.
and the most hated lines Well, Jim Wheble is at | :15:33. | :15:35.
Tottenham Court Road for us now. So some not very happy | :15:36. | :15:41.
travellers there, Jim? It would seem so. What could be the | :15:42. | :15:53.
problem? We have new stations with love, we have a bit of music | :15:54. | :15:57.
earlier, but it seems passengers and that's so in love with the lines | :15:58. | :16:01.
that run underneath here, the Northern line and the Central line. | :16:02. | :16:06.
In fact, 25% said they generally disliked using them. If you are | :16:07. | :16:11.
wondering who came out on top in all of this, the Jubilee and EDL are. | :16:12. | :16:13.
The thing is, -- the DLR. Some of the lines are extremely | :16:14. | :16:22.
hot, like Central Line The heat that you get | :16:23. | :16:24.
in some of the stations and on the underground, | :16:25. | :16:29.
and some of the older Yeah, the heat, the | :16:30. | :16:32.
claustrophobia, slow walkers. It is so warm, | :16:33. | :16:36.
and yeah, too crowded. We heard quite a list, but what else | :16:37. | :16:54.
do they not like? Conversation. Apparently 55% of us prefer not to | :16:55. | :17:00.
be spoken to when we are on the tube and it is all about etiquette. It is | :17:01. | :17:04.
the thing when people get on the tube before letting passengers get | :17:05. | :17:09.
off. And passengers just generally getting in the way. Another thing as | :17:10. | :17:16.
well- man spreading, when the gentleman amongst us make ourselves | :17:17. | :17:21.
too comfortable in our chairs. Perhaps, Victoria, something I will | :17:22. | :17:24.
take away from this myself. Do not want to think too much about that. | :17:25. | :17:26.
Thank you. There was a time when there | :17:27. | :17:29.
was a thriving local newspaper at the heart of every | :17:30. | :17:32.
London community. But with the advent of online news | :17:33. | :17:34.
many are struggling or have But as Sarah Harris reports, | :17:35. | :17:37.
London Assembly research suggests it may not be all bad news | :17:38. | :17:40.
for local print journalism. Some see it as an | :17:41. | :17:47.
endangered art when it comes to a local press | :17:48. | :17:53.
in London in decline, but here in the city, | :17:54. | :17:57.
is A local newsroom covering stories | :17:58. | :17:59.
7500 residents over a square mile. And growing from week to week | :18:00. | :18:09.
since launching, last year. London is one big community, | :18:10. | :18:12.
but within that, you It is going back to people wanting | :18:13. | :18:14.
to know what is going on in their area, Fleet Street obviously being | :18:15. | :18:19.
in our patch has given us a great platform from which to jump | :18:20. | :18:22.
into the media landscape. A London assembly report | :18:23. | :18:26.
showed that circulation across London over the last | :18:27. | :18:33.
decade dropping by 50%. One North London paper's | :18:34. | :18:37.
readership was cut by 90% even though the number of | :18:38. | :18:40.
publications and online local news The author of the reporters calling | :18:41. | :18:50.
for more investment, like the scheme run by the BBC funding dozens of | :18:51. | :18:55.
local journalists. To make sure those important being things can be | :18:56. | :19:00.
quite dry at local council level get journalists going along to, so the | :19:01. | :19:05.
BBC puts resources into funding media read a newspaper level that | :19:06. | :19:12.
people would not be aware. Those at the sharp end keeping local papers | :19:13. | :19:16.
going with much less funding think it needs an image overhaul, making | :19:17. | :19:20.
what may appear rather dull as serving an important role in holding | :19:21. | :19:27.
local organisations to account. Pre-Grenfell Tower all the | :19:28. | :19:31.
discussions about fire safety and the way buildings were built and | :19:32. | :19:37.
material checks, people thought it may be boring and irrelevant, the | :19:38. | :19:40.
fact that people know one worth covering that the's so there is | :19:41. | :19:46.
still a good argument to keep the printer is going despite the online | :19:47. | :19:51.
revolution. And this success story shows there is still an appetite for | :19:52. | :19:54.
an imprinted version of what is happening on your own doorstep. | :19:55. | :19:59.
It's one of the most familiar landscapes on our skyline - | :20:00. | :20:02.
Trellick Tower is just one of many tower blocks in London. | :20:03. | :20:05.
Last week we heard from some of those who live there - | :20:06. | :20:07.
Well, he was so divisive his name was used by the creator | :20:08. | :20:15.
of James Bond for one of his most well-known "baddies". | :20:16. | :20:18.
MUSIC: Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey | :20:19. | :20:25.
So how did a neighbourly dispute inspire one | :20:26. | :20:28.
of the most famous villains of recent popular culture? | :20:29. | :20:34.
This is 2 Willow Road, the family home of Trellick | :20:35. | :20:36.
architect Erno Goldfinger, built in the 1930s in Hampstead | :20:37. | :20:39.
by him, to the dismay of the Bond creator Ian Fleming | :20:40. | :20:42.
Goldfinger as villain was cemented in Fleming's mind and became part | :20:43. | :20:49.
Goldfinger applied for planning permission in Hampstead, | :20:50. | :20:57.
and Ian Fleming and a few neighbours opposed it and lost miserably | :20:58. | :21:02.
in court and infuriated Ian Fleming, and hence the Goldfinger story. | :21:03. | :21:08.
And while his old neighbours weren't fans, today's are more charitable. | :21:09. | :21:14.
He was one of the pioneers of building social housing | :21:15. | :21:22.
vertically, and Trellick was one of the first high-rise buildings | :21:23. | :21:24.
to be made from poured concrete, which is called brutalism. | :21:25. | :21:31.
So when we found the space empty, we immediately were like, | :21:32. | :21:34.
"It has got to be called Goldfinger." | :21:35. | :21:38.
And with the renewed focus on fire safety in tower blocks, | :21:39. | :21:40.
residents say his designs have stood the test of time. | :21:41. | :21:43.
When we moved here, we had books about Trellick and how it was built | :21:44. | :21:48.
and about Erno Goldfinger and stuff like that. | :21:49. | :21:52.
So as far as the history and the architecture | :21:53. | :21:55.
and the building itself, I feel amazingly safe in it. | :21:56. | :21:59.
Lots of people don't like brutalism, so lots of people don't actually | :22:00. | :22:04.
like Trellick Tower even though it is so iconic. | :22:05. | :22:06.
He may have been the inspiration for one of the greatest | :22:07. | :22:14.
villains, but for many, his work remains heroic. | :22:15. | :22:25.
Next tonight, many of us visit the cinema | :22:26. | :22:27.
with our best friend, but what happens when that mate, | :22:28. | :22:30.
Well, a movie theatre in Central London is hoping | :22:31. | :22:36.
to encourage dogs, and their owners, to watch films together. | :22:37. | :22:38.
Helen Drew has been to find out more. | :22:39. | :22:42.
It's an idea many might think is barking. | :22:43. | :22:46.
But for others, the chance to take their dogs to the cinema is genius. | :22:47. | :22:50.
The film they are watching today is called The Big Sick. | :22:51. | :22:57.
He hasn't, and I think he'll enjoy it. | :22:58. | :23:02.
Everyone is really intrigued about it because you don't really | :23:03. | :23:04.
get out to do stuff like this with a dog. | :23:05. | :23:07.
I think it is a brilliant idea, yes, and I hope a lot more | :23:08. | :23:10.
people will take advantage of bringing their doggies | :23:11. | :23:12.
out to the cinema, yes, and have a good family day out. | :23:13. | :23:16.
The dog-friendly screenings have just started at | :23:17. | :23:18.
Picturehouse Central, just off Piccadilly Circus. | :23:19. | :23:21.
The first sold just 40 tickets, but by the second, they had | :23:22. | :23:28.
to change to a bigger screen, with 75 dogs and 143 humans. | :23:29. | :23:32.
It's been really exciting because people who came to the last | :23:33. | :23:35.
screening have come again today, so we have already got regulars, | :23:36. | :23:38.
So we will keep doing it until people do not want it any more. | :23:39. | :23:42.
It should be really exciting, and everybody today, | :23:43. | :23:44.
Films like Lady And The Tramp and Marley And Me are off-limits, | :23:45. | :23:51.
though, as loud noises on screen like barking might upset the dogs. | :23:52. | :23:54.
If you don't own a dog, you can still go along. | :23:55. | :23:56.
A lot of people in London can't have a dog. | :23:57. | :23:59.
I can't have a dog, so it's great that you get to meet them and sit | :24:00. | :24:03.
with them and see them, and the owners are so friendly | :24:04. | :24:05.
There are lots of other ways you can treat your dog in London. | :24:06. | :24:14.
You can bring them to one of the many pet spas, | :24:15. | :24:17.
Buster is having his hair cut, and then after that, | :24:18. | :24:22.
who knows, they might be ready to join the other | :24:23. | :24:25.
Two screenings down, and the dogs have been behaving. | :24:26. | :24:28.
As far as I could work out, no accidents. | :24:29. | :24:30.
A number of the dogs partook of popcorn and other dog treats. | :24:31. | :24:33.
It was just a great occasion, great fun. | :24:34. | :24:35.
Not all the dogs are necessarily excited about the popcorn, | :24:36. | :24:38.
but if you fancy bringing your dog on a date, the cinema will have | :24:39. | :24:41.
Now let's check on the weather with Elizabeth Rizzini. | :24:42. | :24:55.
Another disappointing day. Crucially, it is a lovely day for | :24:56. | :25:02.
our friends in North America, they have these solar eclipse, some | :25:03. | :25:05.
beautiful pictures from there. This is what we are being treated to post | :25:06. | :25:09.
up this is a plane I assume is landing at Heathrow. Imagine if you | :25:10. | :25:13.
are coming from sunnier climes or the way back to this mess. Misty, | :25:14. | :25:18.
murky, lots of grey cloud, disappointing day. It did not | :25:19. | :25:22.
chirrup too much into the afternoon, a bit more brightness, but clouds | :25:23. | :25:32.
never thinned and broke and that was the problem because now we have the | :25:33. | :25:34.
tropical air mass and it is feeling warm and moist and if it broke, | :25:35. | :25:37.
there would be lovely weather. Tonight, quite misty and murky all | :25:38. | :25:39.
over again. As the temperature drops, some drizzle, most likely | :25:40. | :25:43.
over high ground of the Downs and the Chilterns, there will be held | :25:44. | :25:49.
for good. Looking at a mild start tomorrow, around 16-17d so not in | :25:50. | :25:54.
massive drop in temperature, a big difference to what we had a couple | :25:55. | :25:58.
of days ago in the morning bust up but there is hope! Despite a cloudy | :25:59. | :26:02.
start tomorrow, very dreary, we should see something brighter in the | :26:03. | :26:08.
afternoon, and if we get any sunshine tomorrow, it will help lift | :26:09. | :26:13.
the temperature into the mid-20s. Again, it will be misty, cloudy | :26:14. | :26:17.
through the morning, not a very inspiring start, but where we get | :26:18. | :26:21.
the sunshine, it is likely we will see temperatures up to around 2526. | :26:22. | :26:27.
We are getting drier air from the south-easterly wind, so if that | :26:28. | :26:31.
comes and the cloud breaks it will feel pleasant with a light breeze. | :26:32. | :26:35.
Then the air will turn fresh on Wednesday, highest temperatures | :26:36. | :26:38.
through the morning and the cold front comes through, we get to the | :26:39. | :26:42.
end of the day on Wednesday, it will feel fresher, you can see in the | :26:43. | :26:46.
drop of the night-time temperature. Thursday feels pressure, some | :26:47. | :26:49.
sunshine at times, one or two showers possibly. Keep watching for | :26:50. | :26:53.
the bank holiday forecast. Not quite sure yet. | :26:54. | :26:54.
Thank you very much indeed. Police hunting the chief suspect | :26:55. | :27:01.
in last week's van attack in Barcelona have shot dead a man | :27:02. | :27:04.
in the west of the city. Spanish media is reporting | :27:05. | :27:08.
he was wearing what appeared More than 12 million people | :27:09. | :27:10.

o'clock news, but for now from everyone on the team | :27:40. | :27:41.
have a lovely evening. An open invitation to anyone who has | :27:42. | :28:16.
ever felt dazzled by the night sky. | :28:17. | :28:18. |
