Liberal Democrat Simon Hughes says he will fight to win back his seat

He's vowed to work for the residents of Bermondsey and Southwark

He was the party's longest-serving MP, and dramatically lost his seat

Now, just days after the announcement of a snap election

in June, activists in Bermondsey are preparing to fight

for the return of Simon Hughes as the local MP.

We did the right thing by stopping the Tories running

the country on their own, and we rescued the country

from an economically-desperate position, so I don't regret it.

There were many policies of austerity, tuition fees,

incredibly unpopular, and people now are

Of course, and we got punished at the last election,

but this is not about the past, you don't have elections

Liberal Democrats hope their pro-European stance on Brexit

will attract Londoners who voted to remain.

The other parties say, "Don't rule us out for that."

To say it is a black-and-white position is a bit ridiculous.

I was simply correcting the mistake which was that Neil Coyle,

with me and many other Labour MPs, voted not to trigger Article 50.

Back in Bermondsey, I attempted to gauge opinion on Simon Hughes

and meet a man who joined the Lib Dems soon after

The till has been here since the day the shop opened,

so it is a treasured piece, and it was devastating

Back in 2013 the old shop officially became a piece of history,
