A defiant message of unity has been delivered from a pub in Soho,

:00:13.:00:18.

marking the anniversary almost two decades on from when a terrorist

:00:19.:00:22.

targeted London's gay and lesbian community.

:00:23.:00:27.

Today, people remembered the attack, at a time when homophobic hate crime

:00:28.:00:30.

A quiet march through Soho's busy streets this evening.

:00:31.:00:39.

Friends, family, survivors and those who simply wanted to remember

:00:40.:00:43.

what happened here 18 years ago, when a bomb exploded at this pub.

:00:44.:00:50.

The explosion killed three people and injured dozens more.

:00:51.:00:55.

Earlier that month, the same man had targeted Brixton and Brick Lane.

:00:56.:01:00.

This time, it was the Admiral Duncan pub, chosen because it was

:01:01.:01:03.

a well-known venue for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and

:01:04.:01:05.

I was coming home from work, and I made it as far as the corner,

:01:06.:01:11.

and everything was blocked off, and I didn't understand why.

:01:12.:01:13.

I found out when I got home, and it was very

:01:14.:01:16.

The bomber was thought to have been influenced by neo-Nazi and far

:01:17.:01:21.

Martin was part of a group to hold the first openly welcoming

:01:22.:01:26.

He felt London rallied against the attack.

:01:27.:01:30.

The fact that the bombings were not just here in Soho,

:01:31.:01:34.

but in Brick Lane, against the Asian community, in Brixton, against

:01:35.:01:38.

the Afro-Caribbean community - it brought the community together.

:01:39.:01:42.

The pub is still at the heart of the LGBT community.

:01:43.:01:45.

Thousands gathered here to show solidarity after a nightclub

:01:46.:01:48.

But hate crime in London is not a thing of the past.

:01:49.:01:54.

Last year, homophobic offences were up by over 10%.

:01:55.:01:58.

It's one of the reasons the church here thinks it's so important

:01:59.:02:01.

It's actually on the rise, and we need to remember that this

:02:02.:02:08.

is not just something that happens a long way off - it can

:02:09.:02:11.

Tonight's vigil in Soho aims to show, 18 years on,

:02:12.:02:14.

that hate can still be met with unity.

:02:15.:02:21.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder,

:02:22.:02:24.

after a passenger was found stabbed to death on a London bus.

:02:25.:02:28.

Archie Sheppard from Neasden was found with fatal injuries

:02:29.:02:32.

on the 189 bus in Marylebone on Friday morning.

:02:33.:02:34.

40 days to go until the general election, and not all candidates

:02:35.:02:41.

But that hasn't stopped leaflets about key issues being posted,

:02:42.:02:46.

And this time around, as our political editor,

:02:47.:02:51.

Tim Donovan, has been finding out, the B-word is dominating

:02:52.:02:54.

On the streets and on the estates of Hamstead and Kilburn,

:02:55.:03:00.

The Labour MP, Tulip Siddiq, is defending a majority of 1,100

:03:01.:03:05.

here, and no question what some will be voting on.

:03:06.:03:08.

So, I think, head of this vote and campaign, people are actually

:03:09.:03:17.

going to need to know what they are voting for.

:03:18.:03:19.

We've got some very clear policies today on the workplace,

:03:20.:03:24.

things that resonate very much in my constituency, about protecting

:03:25.:03:26.

low-paid workers and people on zero hours on temporary contracts

:03:27.:03:29.

In strong Remain areas like Twickenham, the Conservatives'

:03:30.:03:35.

Tanie Mathias knows it's going to be tough.

:03:36.:03:38.

If Theresa May's in government, you get somebody who is fighting for us.

:03:39.:03:41.

The task for Tories - making it about delivering

:03:42.:03:45.

the decision now, not the decision itself.

:03:46.:03:49.

The reality is, this election is not just about Brexit.

:03:50.:03:53.

One of the main reasons why we need a strong and secure government under

:03:54.:03:56.

Theresa May is to continue with economic stability.

:03:57.:03:59.

This government has delivered roughly 1,000 new jobs for every day

:04:00.:04:02.

Vince Cable is the man trying to win back Twickenham

:04:03.:04:09.

They're offering a second referendum before Brexit could happen.

:04:10.:04:20.

It's clear that what Theresa May is asking for in this

:04:21.:04:22.

general election is, she pretty much wants

:04:23.:04:24.

She has no plan at this time as to how she plans to deliver

:04:25.:04:28.

Brexit, and all she wants is a blank cheque from the electorate so that

:04:29.:04:32.

anything she does over the next five years,

:04:33.:04:34.

The parties haven't got all their candidates in place yet -

:04:35.:04:38.

only when that happens will the ground campaign

:04:39.:04:40.

Tomorrow's weather - and as it's a Bank

:04:41.:04:45.

This is what we think it will be like.

:04:46.:04:49.

And if you're up early, join us from 6.30 -

:04:50.:04:54.

Much like today there will be big contrasts across the UK through

:04:55.:05:17.

Banchory Monday, the southern half will see low-pressure and that will

:05:18.:05:21.

be a focal point for wetter, windier weather and it is wet overnight and

:05:22.:05:25.

there is more rain coming in from a South with heavy bursts and windier

:05:26.:05:31.

further north but largely dry. The breeze. Temperatures falling

:05:32.:05:32.
