Shop and restaurants workers in east London were picking up

the pieces today after clashes between protesters and police

The incidents took place a week after the death of 20-year-old

Rashan Charles whilst in police custody.

Today, a vigil took place to remember him.

Doing the best he can to repair the damage to his restaurant window,

caused by last night's disorder in Dalston, east London.

Fabio Stefana's customers have stayed away today.

Many were terrified just after ten o'clock last night.

There was this couple of ladies, very young, girls,

and they were crying their heads off because they thought

there was a terrorist attack, because the noise was...

Well, I mean, you could hear it from anywhere.

The violence started last night, after the vigil for Rashan Charles,

the 20-year-old who died after being restrained

Bottles and fireworks were thrown at the police.

Earlier today, another vigil was held outside

Some believe young people's anger is understandable.

They are attacked by the police, they are attacked by the public,

they are attacked by our own community.

Put it out in the media, because our young people

And if everyone is unhappy with the route they are taking

with retaliation, then provide an alternative.

If there is no alternative given to young people,

they are going to go exactly where their emotions take them.

In Dalston, these students came out to entertain,

keen to show the positive side of the East End youth.

We as mothers and fathers and parents of young people,

we feel very compassionate about the loss of a young person,

But there is a way to go about getting your voice heard.

It's a sentiment shared by the family of Rashan Charles,

who just want to know more about how their son died.

A community tennis club run by volunteers in Belsize Park

says it's under threat of closure by the council.

Globe Tennis Club has been welcoming a diverse range of players for over

60 years but now the council says the land it occupies

tennis clubs in London wouldn't accept these players.

They felt it was because of their class or ethnicity.

Together, they formed their own club - the Globe -

We are an important contributed to the community and once this is gone,

you can never replace it. The lease with Camden Council

is up for renewal and it wants to make

changes to it. It could see the club

eventually demolished Volunteers say it doesn't realise

the importance of the work Our coaches provide coaching for

free in local schools, which membership here pays for, so we are

open, we are accessible, we are diverse and inclusive and we are

affordable and that separates us from the average club in London. For

members, the news is devastating. It unites a lot of the local schools

around here, whether it is state schools or private schools. The only

place we can go to where it feels like another community space. Camden

Council says this is an incorrect rumour but I have been shown a

letter from the council to the local MP here and in it, it says this land

and this club does have potential to be redeveloped the housing. Despite

that, the council has told us it is committed to providing sports in the

local area. The campaign to protect

the club has been getting support from celebrities

around the world - including a former Dr Who

who lives next door. It's not only important that this

club continues to exist in practical terms, for people to pay tennis, but

to send out a message, particularly post-Brexit, about multiculturalism,

multi-faith and a sense of community, a global community.
