On Look East tonight. School friends in mourning as a girl of 13

:00:04.:00:08.

is killed by a falling branch in a park. Her school was closed because

:00:08.:00:16.

of strike action. Witnesses describe what happened.

:00:16.:00:21.

I heard a crack and saw a branch for and I went over there and a

:00:21.:00:26.

jungle was lying on the floor and she didn't look good at all. Hello

:00:26.:00:30.

from David and me. Also tonight. The peer of the realm in disgrace

:00:30.:00:33.

and, now,in jail. Lord Hanningfield begins a prison sentence of nine

:00:33.:00:37.

months for fiddling his expenses. A warning from the Samaritans

:00:37.:00:40.

tonight after a coroner hears of a suicide pact hatched on the

:00:40.:00:44.

internet. And wouldn't Mum be proud as this brother and sister from

:00:44.:00:54.
:00:54.:01:03.

Essex aim for glory in the Olympics Hello. Witnesses have today been

:01:03.:01:07.

describing the moment a girl of 13 was killed when a branch fell from

:01:07.:01:11.

a tree at a park near Peterborough. She had been playing there because

:01:11.:01:14.

her school was closed by yesterday's strike action. All day,

:01:14.:01:18.

friends of Sophie Howard have been laying floral tributes at the scene

:01:18.:01:22.

of the incident. Her school observed a minute's silence as the

:01:22.:01:25.

community around Yaxley took in the terrible news. Tonight, it was

:01:25.:01:28.

announced that the Health and Safety Executive would carry out an

:01:28.:01:32.

investigation. Let's get the details now from our reporter Mike

:01:32.:01:41.

Cartwright. Tonight we have seen her community

:01:41.:01:46.

come together in grief, a spontaneous Gavin, a vigil for

:01:46.:01:50.

Sophie. There are few people left here but only are they have won

:01:50.:01:56.

many more, of all ages. They stood, some cried, they came together to

:01:56.:02:00.

say goodbye to one of their own. Sophie, aged 13, described by her

:02:00.:02:03.

family as beautiful. A typical girlie girl who loved socialising,

:02:03.:02:13.
:02:13.:02:13.

make-up and fashion. Sleep peacefully with the angels, rest in

:02:13.:02:17.

peace. Tributes and flowers today placed by the tree where the branch

:02:17.:02:21.

fell. Many more on the internet - and questions too. Sophie and her

:02:21.:02:25.

friends were only here because of strikes at school. A cruel twist of

:02:25.:02:33.

fate, which people here are trying to make sense of. Just upset that

:02:33.:02:37.

something like that could happen, someone so young could be heard. I

:02:38.:02:45.

saw a branch falling down, heard the crack, and I went over there.

:02:45.:02:49.

And a young girl was lying on the floor and she wasn't good at all,

:02:49.:02:54.

really. But tragedy, and of the teachers went on strike she would

:02:55.:02:58.

have been at school and still be here. Sophie's school in Sawtry

:02:59.:03:02.

said she was bright and cheerful and held in high regard, someone

:03:02.:03:06.

who appeared to have bright future in front of her. A teenager who

:03:06.:03:09.

leaves behind a twin brother who the family say is suffering greatly.

:03:09.:03:19.
:03:19.:03:19.

Neighbours spoke of their sadness. Shocked, dumbfounded. It takes a

:03:19.:03:24.

lot to believe in. We were to go to school in the morning and come home

:03:25.:03:31.

at night. They are twins, a boy and a girl. You feel it probably a

:03:31.:03:37.

little bit more because of them being the family. To hear it, it

:03:37.:03:41.

took some believing. The bench where Sophie sat has been removed

:03:41.:03:44.

along with the branch that fell there. Police are not treating her

:03:44.:03:47.

death as suspicious. But why the branch broke is the question many

:03:48.:03:57.

is this community are asking. People sat save the's school today

:03:57.:04:03.

were given counselling. They also erected a tribute board. Earlier, I

:04:03.:04:06.

spoke to a friend of hers and he said it has been very difficult for

:04:06.:04:12.

everyone. I have known her for a year before secondary school

:04:12.:04:17.

because I used to go and talk to her here all the time. Then we

:04:17.:04:21.

started getting more from to a secondary school. How long have you

:04:21.:04:26.

know her? About three years. When you heard about this awful news,

:04:27.:04:34.

headed detected? Was in shock to start with. And I started to cry

:04:34.:04:44.
:04:44.:04:45.

because I have heard bad news, but one of my friends... It was a shock.

:04:45.:04:52.

I couldn't cry to start with, and then I just started crying because

:04:52.:04:58.

I was so sad. One type of girl was she? He was a very happy, cheery

:04:58.:05:05.

girl. I have never seen her cry or getting a bad mood. Always seen her

:05:05.:05:11.

smile, laugh. We have learned tonight that the Health and Safety

:05:11.:05:14.

Executive will be helping police with their investigation. What they

:05:14.:05:21.

will be looking at that some of the branches here. Earlier branches had

:05:21.:05:27.

been taken earlier and they will be looking to see the other branches

:05:27.:05:31.

higher up. The disgraced Lord Hanningfield was

:05:31.:05:34.

sent to prison today, after being convicted of fiddling his

:05:34.:05:38.

parliamentary expenses. The former leader of Essex County Council is

:05:38.:05:41.

the latest high profile politician to go to jail over fraudulent

:05:41.:05:46.

expense claims. Today's court appearance comes two years after

:05:46.:05:51.

the police first interviewed Lord Hanningfield about his expenses. In

:05:51.:05:55.

February last year he was charged and forced to stand down as leader

:05:55.:05:59.

of the county council. In November, he launched a legal action to evade

:05:59.:06:06.

prosecution. That failed. In May this year, his trial got under way

:06:06.:06:11.

at Chelmsford Crown Court. Ten days later he was found guilty. Today,

:06:11.:06:15.

at just after 2 o'clock, he was jailed for nine months. Let's get

:06:15.:06:18.

the full story now from our home affairs correspondent, Sally

:06:18.:06:24.

Chidzoy. Good evening from outside Maidstone

:06:24.:06:29.

Crown Court in Kent. Write to the end, Lord Hanningfield had hoped

:06:29.:06:33.

that his poor health would save him from prison but tonight he is

:06:33.:06:37.

behind bars. Renowned for his love of good restaurants he must now

:06:37.:06:45.

face a prison menu, the price he must pay for cheating the tax payer.

:06:45.:06:49.

At 6:50am, Lord Hanningfield left his bungalow as usual to walk his

:06:49.:06:54.

job and been his rubbish but it was no ordinary day for the expenses

:06:54.:06:58.

fiddling peer and former leader of Essex County Council. It was the

:06:58.:07:03.

day he was to go to jail. He arrived at Maidstone Crown Court

:07:03.:07:08.

for sentencing. The man who claimed almost 14,000 for overnight stays

:07:08.:07:12.

and travelling to his work in the House of Lords was reduced to this.

:07:12.:07:17.

Sitting in the dock of Court Number seven. The defence did all that it

:07:17.:07:21.

could to try to keep Lord Hanningfield out of jail. It called

:07:21.:07:25.

upon a psychiatrist who told report that she felt that Lord

:07:26.:07:28.

Hanningfield was currently depressed. She told the judge that

:07:28.:07:33.

he had told her the anything he could do was to plunge a knife into

:07:33.:07:36.

his dog and then in himself. She said he had been talking today

:07:36.:07:40.

about jumping off a high building. But the judge was intent on jailing

:07:40.:07:45.

him, telling Lord Hanningfield he was important to bear in mind the

:07:45.:07:48.

sentences imposed on others who have been convicted of similar

:07:48.:07:53.

offences. He said greater trust was placed in pierced be honest in

:07:53.:07:58.

their claims for expenses. The public expects no less of them.

:07:58.:08:03.

Lord Hanningfield and others have broken that trust. As he was

:08:03.:08:05.

sentenced to nine months' imprisonment, Lord Hanningfield

:08:05.:08:09.

looked stunned. He seemed almost glued to his chair in the dock. He

:08:09.:08:13.

paused to take a sip of water before standing up and walking

:08:13.:08:19.

towards his guard. What do wide to now, he said. Just go down, came

:08:19.:08:24.

the reply. The dramatic downfall of Lord Hanningfield mark the end of

:08:24.:08:29.

an era at Essex County Council where he was the all-powerful

:08:30.:08:36.

leader, a Tory whose jailing follows an investigation dribble by

:08:36.:08:46.
:08:46.:08:47.

that Liberal Democrat MP. There is now we a second claim by police. --

:08:47.:08:51.

second inquiry. In a statement tonight, Essex County Council said

:08:51.:08:55.

it was awaiting the outcome of Lord Hanningfield's appeal against his

:08:55.:09:00.

conviction. Until that time he remains a councillor. The council

:09:00.:09:04.

said it was continued co-operate with police on the second

:09:04.:09:07.

investigation and then it was inappropriate for them to comment

:09:07.:09:11.

until the inquiry was complete. Later on Look East, a warning from

:09:11.:09:14.

the Samaritans after two people meet through the internet to commit

:09:14.:09:18.

suicide. We meet the brother and sister from Essex hoping to make

:09:18.:09:22.

Mum proud by competing in next summer's Paralympics. In the

:09:23.:09:26.

weather, I've got your weekend forecast, plus a look back to the

:09:26.:09:29.

soggy June, the summer month which provided more rain than the whole

:09:29.:09:39.

A coroner said today that drugs were to blame for the death of a

:09:39.:09:42.

16-year-old girl and her father. The girl, who had complained of

:09:42.:09:46.

feeling unwell, stabbed her father and then herself. The father was

:09:46.:09:50.

heard to murmur, "Please stop, I love you, I love you." The incident

:09:50.:09:53.

happened in the family home at Sible Hedingham in Essex.

:09:53.:09:57.

Bernadette Bass - seen here with the blonde hair - prepared to hear

:09:57.:10:01.

details of the last moments of her husband and daughter as she arrived

:10:01.:10:05.

at the inquest this morning. It was at the family home on the 11th

:10:05.:10:07.

September last year that 16-year- old Margaret Pierides and her

:10:08.:10:11.

father Costas were found fatally injured. Post mortem examinations

:10:11.:10:15.

revealed both had died from stab wounds. Godfrey O'Toole, the senior

:10:15.:10:18.

investigating officer, said it was difficult to be sure what had

:10:18.:10:21.

happened but it appears that Margaret had had some sort of

:10:21.:10:27.

catastrophic breakdown. The coroner heard how Margaret's behaviour had

:10:27.:10:30.

changed. She'd had problems with drugs, episodes where she'd felt

:10:31.:10:35.

confused and dreams about killing her parents. Her mother said that

:10:35.:10:38.

the night before the stabbings Margaret had felt depressed and

:10:38.:10:41.

they'd spoken about seeing a psycologist. The next morning she

:10:41.:10:46.

said she found Margaret and Costas in the kitchen. She heard him

:10:46.:10:51.

saying "Stop it, I love you, stop it." She realised Margaret had a

:10:51.:10:54.

knife in her hand. She said Margaret didn't speak, just grabbed

:10:54.:10:58.

her hand. She said Margaret would never intentionally hurt her father

:10:58.:11:01.

Margaret Pierides was described as a lovely teenager, not aggressive

:11:01.:11:06.

and part of a close family unit. In her summing up, the coroner

:11:06.:11:10.

Caroline Beasley Murray said: "The tragic events of an ordinary

:11:10.:11:12.

Saturday morning highlight the dreadful risks young people take

:11:12.:11:17.

when they use drugs." She recorded a verdict of accidental death for

:11:17.:11:26.

Organisers of the Royal Norfolk Show have promised an investigation

:11:26.:11:30.

into traffic chaos which plagued the event yesterday. Up to 1,000

:11:30.:11:32.

people were stuck in queues surrounding the showground for up

:11:33.:11:36.

to four hours. Some visitors gave up and turned around because of the

:11:36.:11:40.

long wait to get into the site. An announcement on the future of

:11:40.:11:43.

the Chief Executive of Suffolk County Council, Ondrea Hill, is

:11:43.:11:47.

expected on Monday. She's been on paid leave for the past eight weeks

:11:48.:11:51.

so that whistleblowing allegations against her can be investigated. A

:11:51.:11:54.

special panel met yesterday and will meet again on Monday.

:11:54.:11:57.

A court heard today how a businessman drove his Aston Martin

:11:58.:12:01.

sports car at more than 140 miles an hour. Tobias Baker was chased

:12:01.:12:06.

after he shot past a police patrol car at Higham on the A14 in Suffolk

:12:06.:12:11.

last October. He escaped jail but was banned from the road for 18

:12:11.:12:15.

months. Tobias Baker leaving the crown

:12:15.:12:20.

court in Ipswich this afternoon, having admitted dangerous driving.

:12:20.:12:23.

The offence happened at Highham last year, just after 9 pm on

:12:23.:12:27.

Saturday 16th October. A stationary marked police car - by co-incidence

:12:27.:12:31.

there was one at the spot again today - saw Baker pass at speed,

:12:31.:12:36.

estimated at around 110-120 miles an hour. It went after him, but

:12:36.:12:39.

despite touching 140 miles an hour couldn't catch the defendant's car,

:12:39.:12:43.

which was accelerating further away. After six miles, Baker was

:12:43.:12:52.

eventually pulled over. When the defendant was asked why he was

:12:52.:12:58.

driving so fast, he told the police officer, I have no excuses, I was

:12:58.:13:03.

breaking the speed limit, stupid and irresponsible. His solicitor

:13:03.:13:07.

said his client had one simple appeal to make to the court.

:13:07.:13:11.

Anything but custody. The judge told Baker, who is 34 and had no

:13:11.:13:14.

previous convictions, that while it was a highly excessive speed, it

:13:14.:13:18.

didn't justify a prison term. He was told to do 180 hours of unpaid

:13:18.:13:22.

work, banned from the road for 18 months, and told to pay 1,200 in

:13:22.:13:26.

costs. He will also have to sit a driving retest before he gets his

:13:26.:13:33.

licence back. My road policing officers either all across the

:13:33.:13:37.

county to make sure the roads are safe. We have a really good road-

:13:38.:13:41.

safety record here in Suffolk and we want to keep it that way. Baker,

:13:41.:13:45.

who didn't want to comment after the case, no longer owns the Aston

:13:45.:13:48.

Martin. The court was told he's sold it since getting caught.

:13:48.:13:51.

Norwich City and Ipswich Town have confirmed new signings today.

:13:51.:13:54.

Midfielder Bradley Johnson joins the Canaries from Leeds United on a

:13:54.:13:58.

free transfer. Ipswich Town have snapped up 21-year-old defender

:13:58.:14:02.

Aaron Cresswell from Tranmere. Ipswich Hospital has been

:14:02.:14:04.

criticised by the Information Commissioner for losing

:14:04.:14:07.

confidential patient records. It follows an incident in February

:14:07.:14:11.

when a member of staff took home the records of 29 patients but then

:14:11.:14:14.

lost them. Ipswich Hospital is one of five NHS organisations which

:14:15.:14:22.

have recently breached the Data Protection Act.

:14:22.:14:25.

Drivers are to be charged more to use the Dartford crossing. The

:14:25.:14:28.

short journey over the Thames from Essex to Kent currently costs 1.50.

:14:28.:14:32.

But it could be 2.50 by the end of the year.

:14:32.:14:34.

When the Dartford Crossing was completed in the early '90s,

:14:34.:14:38.

motorists were told they would only have to pay tolls until the

:14:38.:14:42.

building costs had been paid off. That debt was paid eight years ago.

:14:42.:14:52.
:14:52.:14:54.

Still the charges remain. In fact, they're due to go up. I use the

:14:54.:15:00.

crossing quite a lot and 2.50 is far too much. It is a recession and

:15:00.:15:04.

people are struggling to pay for things anyway. It is ridiculous.

:15:04.:15:08.

From the end of next year car drivers will pay an extra pound.

:15:08.:15:11.

Lorries, even more. With the crossing making a 45 million

:15:11.:15:14.

profit each year, some believe the price hikes are unnecessary and

:15:14.:15:21.

unfair. It is ridiculous that the government should be taking this

:15:21.:15:25.

line and we are appalled. The minister needs to wake up and smell

:15:25.:15:29.

the coffee. If the government wants to support small businesses, which

:15:29.:15:34.

they have said, they need to put words into action and do something.

:15:34.:15:38.

This is one area where they could do it very easily. In a statement,

:15:39.:15:48.
:15:49.:15:53.

A public consultation is now under way. Drivers who use the crossing

:15:53.:16:03.
:16:03.:16:06.

can have their say on the You're watching Look East from the

:16:06.:16:14.

BBC. Coming up. The story which had people fuming.

:16:14.:16:17.

Two strangers, who met through an internet forum on suicide, were

:16:17.:16:21.

found dead just days later. Today, the Samaritans warned against the

:16:21.:16:26.

darker side of the worldwide web. Joanne Lee from Essex and Stephen

:16:26.:16:30.

Lumb from West Yorkshire met up in a car park in Braintree. They took

:16:30.:16:34.

their own lives using a mixture of toxic chemicals. Both the coroner

:16:34.:16:37.

at today's inquest and the Samaritans expressed concern at the

:16:37.:16:43.

nature of the suicide forums. Kim Riley was at today's hearing in

:16:43.:16:53.
:16:53.:16:53.

Chelmsford. Every inquest is a sombre affair,

:16:53.:16:55.

today's at County Hall particularly so. In the words of the coroner,

:16:55.:17:00.

these were the most tragic of deaths. The court heard how a 35-

:17:00.:17:04.

year-old Stephen Lumb from West Yorkshire, have met to Joanne Lee

:17:04.:17:13.

he lived alone in Great Notley mate on an internet site. She said she

:17:13.:17:19.

did not have the strength to do it on her own. This was the car found

:17:19.:17:24.

by police on an industrial estate in nine Puddy last September. He

:17:24.:17:28.

had driven from Yorkshire to meet Joe and face-to-face for the first

:17:28.:17:33.

and only time. Notices have been placed on the windows, warning of

:17:34.:17:38.

toxic chemicals inside. Fire fighters had to wear special

:17:38.:17:42.

protection suits to remove the bodies. Post mortem showed they

:17:42.:17:45.

died from chemical poisoning and two buckets of chemicals were found

:17:45.:17:49.

inside the car. The police concluded both were willing

:17:49.:17:54.

participants, there was no third party. The coroner said it was

:17:54.:17:58.

clear that the internet could be a force for good but the existence of

:17:58.:18:02.

these website showed how could be just the opposite. It was a very

:18:02.:18:07.

worrying trend. A warming trend as well for the Samaritans. For some

:18:07.:18:10.

people who were chatting to other distressed people online they can

:18:10.:18:18.

get help from that. By what it can do is it can reinforce two

:18:19.:18:22.

distressed people's negative feelings about life. It spirals out

:18:22.:18:25.

of control so they end up encouraging each other to do

:18:25.:18:28.

something, take their own lives, something they might not have done

:18:28.:18:33.

alone. After recording verdicts of suicide, the coroner told the

:18:33.:18:37.

families that these for two young people clearly much loved. She

:18:37.:18:42.

hoped they could well on the happy, positive memories. And if you are

:18:42.:18:45.

experiencing feelings of distress, despair or depression - and would

:18:45.:18:48.

like to talk to someone - you can call the Samaritans anonymously on

:18:48.:18:58.

08457 909090, or get more help On Look East last night we reported

:18:58.:19:01.

on the market town near Milton Keynes which is thinking about

:19:01.:19:05.

banning people from smoking in the streets. The idea left many of you

:19:05.:19:09.

fuming and spluttering. Some viewers welcomed the idea, saying

:19:09.:19:12.

they are fed up with breathing in cigarette smoke in the street. But

:19:12.:19:16.

others wondered where it would all end. Josef Hall reports now on the

:19:16.:19:22.

subject which has lit up Stony Stratford.

:19:22.:19:28.

I don't even Speight, it's not real pipe. But with the these Maicon not,

:19:28.:19:32.

using to have an opinion on whether Stony Stratford should be allowed

:19:32.:19:37.

to smoke or not. We had all sorts of e-mails Inc, including one who

:19:37.:19:43.

said, I think the smoking ban is ridiculous. Smokers pay most of the

:19:43.:19:51.

country's taxes. Another in Clacton on Sea says, I think it is a good

:19:51.:19:54.

thing that people are challenging people smoking in the streets. I

:19:54.:20:00.

think it is disgusting and unfair on those of us who want clean lungs.

:20:00.:20:05.

And ex-smokers says, with local shops closing all over the UK,

:20:05.:20:08.

Stony Stratford like everywhere else needs to attract customers on

tried them somewhere else. I am joined by a fairly heavy weight

guest to when assuming is a smoker. I am a smoker, but is not about

:20:18.:20:23.

that. It is about freedom of choice, about liberty, about the kind of

:20:23.:20:28.

country want to live in. What is Again to ban next, fish and chips,

:20:28.:20:33.

don't us, alcohol? Can we please get these awful people off our

:20:33.:20:38.

backs? The Smoking man has gone too far already. The pubs, cafes should

:20:38.:20:43.

be allowed to have separate smoking room. The last, and was the right

:20:43.:20:47.

one, the smoking ban has closed down clubs and cafes all over this

:20:47.:20:52.

country. We are grown-up, this is about liberty, it is about as

:20:52.:20:58.

making our own grown-up choices. I hope at a meeting on 19th July here

:20:58.:21:04.

in Stony Stratford, people tell them where to go. Thanks to you at

:21:04.:21:09.

home for the wealth of e-mails, text and phone calls.

:21:09.:21:13.

We are not going to smoke on the programme but a thing we should

:21:13.:21:17.

wear smoking jackets! You don't see them these days. Think of sporting

:21:17.:21:20.

siblings and straight away the likes of Jack and Bobby Charlton

:21:20.:21:23.

come to mind, or the Williams sisters. Well, there's another set

:21:23.:21:28.

of siblings on the block. James and Emma Hollis from Essex both have

:21:28.:21:31.

brittle bone disease, and this weekend they'll be swimming for

:21:31.:21:33.

Britain at the European Championships in Berlin.

:21:33.:21:36.

James and Emma Hollis can't remember a time when they have not

:21:36.:21:45.

been in plaster. They've broken their arms and legs several times.

:21:45.:21:49.

James has also smashed his ribs and his spine is fused with metal rods.

:21:49.:21:57.

Their x-rays are x-rated, like those of a stuntman. They are

:21:58.:22:02.

buying for Berlin. A went to the Europeans last time and I went on

:22:02.:22:05.

my own. Mum and dad went out but James didn't manage to come. It'll

:22:05.:22:10.

be nice to have been there this time. They have a conditon caled

:22:10.:22:12.

osteogenesis imperfecta. Brittle bone disease. Because of their

:22:12.:22:15.

brittle bones, swimming is the perfect sport and they are the

:22:15.:22:25.
:22:25.:22:26.

perfect combination. We both live in west Essex, so just down the

:22:26.:22:32.

road. It would be amazing. It would be a first Paralympic Games for

:22:32.:22:42.

both of us. If we were both there, I reckon mum would be proud! Emma

:22:42.:22:45.

is a couple of years older. Emma is studying geography at university,

:22:45.:22:54.

but James is at home in Essex with Mum, Dad and dogs. It is it is

:22:54.:22:59.

really good to get them both at the same time. She was quicker than me

:22:59.:23:02.

when I was younger question is that bit older. I did like the day that

:23:02.:23:06.

I beat had the first time and enjoyed the case and that there

:23:07.:23:10.

where I beat her again! There was always rivalry. They live as the

:23:10.:23:14.

crow flies 20 minutes from the Olympic Park. First they'll take

:23:14.:23:24.
:23:24.:23:26.

Berlin, but if they can stay out of That is one seriously proud mum.

:23:26.:23:30.

And we will be following their progress. Good luck to them this

:23:30.:23:40.
:23:40.:23:42.

weekend. We had a very wet month and it was

:23:42.:23:47.

much needed rain for much of the reason. We can see some statistics

:23:47.:23:56.

sample the month of June, the regional average was 60 mm. But is

:23:56.:24:01.

a little bit above average for the month of June. But comparing that

:24:01.:24:06.

back to the springtime, we only had 10 mm in March, five in April and

:24:06.:24:12.

15 in made, which equals 30 mm. So we had twice the amount of rainfall

:24:12.:24:17.

in the month of June we head for the entire spring. So really a very

:24:17.:24:23.

wet period. If we go forward to the month of June, a few more

:24:23.:24:33.
:24:33.:24:42.

statistics. A massive range of temperatures. That is about double

:24:42.:24:47.

the amount of rainfall for the average in the highest place. We

:24:47.:24:51.

have a settled spell of weather over the next few days. Looking

:24:51.:24:56.

pretty good for this weekend. Quite a bit of cloud earlier today but as

:24:56.:25:01.

we go into the evening that is melting away. Generally clear skies

:25:01.:25:06.

through the course of tonight. The lowest temperature overnight

:25:06.:25:11.

dropping to six or seven Celsius. It could be quite a chilly night in

:25:11.:25:14.

the rest of the region. But as a bit below average for the time of

:25:14.:25:19.

year. Knobbly wins mean you will stay a little bit milder on the

:25:19.:25:29.

coast -- more than the winds. Sunny spells, just a bit of patchy cloud.

:25:29.:25:32.

The best of the sunshine will be in the morning and in the afternoon

:25:32.:25:37.

the best of the sunshine will be around the coast. Top temperatures

:25:37.:25:42.

demurrer reaching up to 21 or 22 Celsius in the West. It will be a

:25:42.:25:48.

bit cooler with the north easterly winds. Saturday evening, fine and

:25:48.:25:53.

dry wit long clear spells. Looking forward into the rest of the

:25:53.:25:59.

weekend, a lot of sunshine on Sunday, particularly in the morning.

:25:59.:26:09.

The cloud will increase in the afternoon for a little while. The

:26:09.:26:13.

temperatures even higher on Monday, getting back into the very warm

:26:13.:26:18.

range. Our next chance of rain in the region coming either on Tuesday

:26:19.:26:22.

night or into Wednesday. A fine, dry spell of weather for the next

:26:22.:26:32.
:26:32.:26:35.

few days. Light wind backs over the Can I just say sorry. I nearly

:26:35.:26:43.

forgot to introduce the weather! It is past my bedtime! I was upset

:26:43.:26:48.

because, as our main news, Britain's Andy Murray is out of

:26:48.:26:53.

Wimbledon. He took the first set but Rafael Nadal made a strong

:26:53.:26:58.

reply. Afterwards, Rafael Nadal said he felt sorry for the Scot and

:26:58.:27:03.

described him as a friend. Our reporter has been keeping an

:27:03.:27:07.

analytical eye on it. A fantastic game between two of the best

:27:08.:27:12.

players in the world at the moment. Big serves met by even bigger

:27:12.:27:19.

returns. These were the scenes in Norwich today, the big screen were

:27:19.:27:22.

lots of people stopped to watch the game. Some people went to watch it,

:27:22.:27:28.

others just enticed by the shopping as they wandered past. It started

:27:28.:27:32.

well fought Murray but then Rafael Nadal coming in to win the next

:27:32.:27:38.

three in a row. But before the defeat, these tennis fans told me

:27:38.:27:43.

exactly why they chose to watch the game outside. It is brilliant, the

:27:43.:27:48.

fact that Murray has got that far. Just to come here and be with

:27:48.:27:52.

everybody else, rooting for the same person. What has the

:27:52.:27:56.

atmosphere been like amongst the crowd? It has been fairly good.

:27:56.:28:01.

Everyone is behind him. Do you think it is good to give people an

:28:01.:28:05.

opportunity to come out here and get together and see someone from

:28:05.:28:12.

Britain. An unfair question, what about the final, can you make a

:28:12.:28:17.

prediction? Why don't we just toss a coin! It is the two best players

:28:17.:28:22.

in the world, and the BBC will have full coverage put on the internet

:28:22.:28:29.
