In Look East Blacks goes into administration, but is then | :00:10. | :00:15.
promptly bought by JD Sports. What does it mean for jobs at their HQ? | :00:15. | :00:20.
Hello and welcome to Look East. Also tonight. A pilot dies after a | :00:20. | :00:25.
helicopter crashes in to the fens. It is a cup weekend but the | :00:25. | :00:30.
headbutt row goes on Who says cheats don't prosper. He has conned | :00:30. | :00:36.
everybody there. He is my play ever and he is not a cheat. And Mason's | :00:36. | :00:41.
magic. Why this seven-year-old has form his own charity. -- formed his | :00:41. | :00:51.
:00:51. | :00:53. | ||
own charity. Good evening. First tonight more bad news from the high | :00:53. | :00:58.
street at another big name goes into administration, and then gets | :00:58. | :01:03.
snapped up. Blacks Leisure is based in Northampton, it has 98 stores | :01:03. | :01:09.
across the country and it owns the Millets brand, with another 208 | :01:09. | :01:13.
shops nationwide. Tonight, JD Sports announced it bought the | :01:13. | :01:17.
company's assets. In a moment Mike Liggens reports on the competitors | :01:17. | :01:21.
who says they have been beating Blacks at their own game. First we | :01:21. | :01:28.
talk to staff at the Northampton HQ It is headquarters and warehouse. A | :01:28. | :01:35.
massive building. At the heart of a company with massive debts. Inside, | :01:35. | :01:39.
the chief executive, Julia Reynolds, unable to speak on camera, but new | :01:39. | :01:43.
owners for a company she described as hobbleling and crippled is good | :01:44. | :01:48.
news she told us. Other workers who spoke to us were up beatment | :01:48. | :01:52.
think we are all hoping for the best, we are all positive about the | :01:52. | :01:56.
future and the products, so we are certainly going to give it the best | :01:56. | :02:00.
shot. We have been working on really great projects. For us, it | :02:00. | :02:05.
is about moving front the bad times, and moving forward, positively. JD | :02:05. | :02:12.
Sports have emerged as their new owner. Taking over 306 shops and | :02:12. | :02:17.
3,500 workers. A deal that will see 36 million pounds worth of debt | :02:17. | :02:20.
virtually wiped outment there will be changes here. It is thought this | :02:20. | :02:27.
place is too big, it costs millions in rent and wages. Round 400 people | :02:27. | :02:31.
work here. If there are job losses it is likely most of those will be | :02:31. | :02:36.
here. I don't think any economy can take a hit of 400 jobs without | :02:36. | :02:40.
reeling a bit. But we need to see that in the context of the job | :02:40. | :02:46.
creation in Northampton, which is going ahead in leaps and bounds. | :02:46. | :02:51.
Its business, tent, boots anything for the great outdoors. A market | :02:51. | :02:56.
leader that has fallen behind. have inflation at 4 or 5%. Fuel | :02:56. | :03:00.
bills they are having to cope w and there is a lack of confidence, I | :03:01. | :03:03.
think, in the current environment, because people just don't foe what | :03:03. | :03:08.
is going to happen. There is bad news stories every day and that is | :03:08. | :03:11.
making people wary of spending money they haven't got. It is a | :03:11. | :03:16.
company that in one form or another has been based in Northamptonshire | :03:16. | :03:24.
since the '70s. One of our big companies. Going through big change. | :03:24. | :03:29.
So, why is Blacks in trouble? One reason, a number of new competitors. | :03:29. | :03:39.
:03:39. | :03:41. | ||
Mike Liggens has been talking to Go outdoors and Mountain Warehouse. Go | :03:41. | :03:45.
Outdoors have five stores in the east at Basildon, Bedford, | :03:45. | :03:48.
Colchester Harlow and here in Norwich. It is a company which has | :03:48. | :03:53.
grown rapidly overing ten stores in the last 12 months. So, what is the | :03:53. | :03:58.
recipe for success? It is a couple of things. The size of the stores. | :03:58. | :04:03.
We are out-of-town stores and means we can offer a bigger range, free | :04:03. | :04:07.
parking, we can display tents that we sell. Fishing gear, climbing | :04:07. | :04:12.
gear, bike, everything outdoors and they say it is all ant listening to | :04:12. | :04:15.
what the customer wants. When you come to a store like this what are | :04:16. | :04:21.
you most interested in, price, quality? Definitely price at the | :04:21. | :04:27.
moment. And quality, but also to see the stock they have here, as | :04:27. | :04:33.
well. The quality, the goods and etc, we don't go for cheep stuff. | :04:33. | :04:38.
You have lots of choice they have most things covered in here. Blacks | :04:38. | :04:41.
have simply struggled to stay with the competition. What has happened | :04:41. | :04:49.
is they have been squeezed from two different directions. From up | :04:49. | :04:54.
market operators like Cotswold, but also from firms like Mountain | :04:55. | :04:59.
Warehouse, who are offering value for money. Mountain Warehouse have | :04:59. | :05:06.
12 stores in the east, from Bedford to Braintree and bury saint ed | :05:06. | :05:11.
mounds, they don't sell the big names, just family friendly own | :05:11. | :05:15.
brands. They too have expanded rapidly, opening new stores in they | :05:15. | :05:21.
say good locations. We opened our doors in September, it has been | :05:21. | :05:25.
slow process but people now we are here, it is fantastic. Trade at | :05:25. | :05:29.
Christmas was amazing. Mountain Warehouse claims to have double its | :05:29. | :05:34.
internet business in the last 12 months. But none of the rivals are | :05:34. | :05:38.
taking pleasure in Blacks current difficulties. They know it is tough | :05:38. | :05:45.
and the fight for business is fierce. Meanwhile there is news | :05:45. | :05:49.
tonight that another company in trouble could soon be rescued. The | :05:49. | :05:54.
Suffolk based retailers Hawkin's Bazaar went into administration on | :05:54. | :05:58.
December 30th. More than 300 jobs have gone, and 40 stores are still | :05:58. | :06:02.
closed. But tonight, the administrator told Look East that a | :06:02. | :06:08.
buyer could step in as soon as next week. It's the January sale the | :06:08. | :06:11.
staff never expected to hole. Today this store is still trading, | :06:11. | :06:15.
selling what it calls the things you thought had gone forever, and | :06:15. | :06:19.
those you never knew existed. a shop I have never been into. | :06:19. | :06:24.
Don't know what it does. It is bad in way because it is a sudden shock | :06:24. | :06:28.
and they did nice bitss for kids. love nit there. I hope they don't | :06:28. | :06:35.
go. It is fun. In 2006 the company's parent group sold a 50% | :06:35. | :06:43.
stake in the company. The buyer had plans to expand it to 100 stores in | :06:43. | :06:48.
five years. It achieved 65, 40 of those have now been closed. More | :06:48. | :06:52.
than 300 workers made run dent and there is concern local businesses | :06:52. | :06:56.
will be affected too There is a lot of support businesss that do work | :06:56. | :07:02.
there, we have one of the local cafes supplies sandwiches and does | :07:02. | :07:06.
buffet, there is lebgtrilings tritions and cleaners so it will | :07:06. | :07:10.
have a knock-on effect. And the owner at one particular business | :07:10. | :07:14.
here who didn't want to go on camera believes he's will be out- | :07:14. | :07:20.
of-pocket by nearly 80,000. He fears too that he will have to make | :07:20. | :07:23.
job cuts. Tonight administrators say there is keen interest in the | :07:23. | :07:28.
company. A new buyer could be announced next week. I doesn't mean | :07:28. | :07:31.
the staff will be re-employed but there is hope the company could | :07:31. | :07:40.
survive in some form. Our business correspondent is here, so why is | :07:40. | :07:44.
there so much bad news on the high street now? If you are a struggling | :07:44. | :07:47.
retailer New Year can be crunch time, because you have taken in | :07:47. | :07:52.
money over Christmas, but big bills come due about now, for example | :07:52. | :07:57.
quarterly rent, on your buildings, VAT to the Government, and if you | :07:57. | :08:01.
simply haven't got the money, you can't carry on, and I think we know | :08:01. | :08:05.
that the outlook for consumer spending this year is pretty grim, | :08:05. | :08:09.
and some retailers are throwing in the towel. Coming back to JD Sports, | :08:09. | :08:13.
their assets have been, sorry, to Blacks, their assets have been | :08:13. | :08:16.
bought by JD Sports but they haven't bought the company as such, | :08:16. | :08:21.
have they? JD, it looks like will take on 300 stores which form | :08:21. | :08:25.
Blacks and Millets. I should explain this deal has been done | :08:25. | :08:30.
under a prepack administration. Prepack is where you agree a sale | :08:31. | :08:34.
before the administrator is appointed. The advantage is it | :08:34. | :08:38.
tends to minimise job losses, because there is less disruption to | :08:38. | :08:43.
the business than with a tradition alcollapse. The down side is that | :08:43. | :08:47.
creditors tend to lose out big time. We have heard from the report that | :08:47. | :08:51.
it looks like the majority of Blacks debt of 36 million will be | :08:51. | :08:56.
wiped out, so that is bad news, if you are owed money by Blacks. I | :08:56. | :09:01.
think another big question is what happens to the Northampton | :09:02. | :09:05.
headquarters, the fact is JD's headquarters are elsewhere. Thank | :09:05. | :09:11.
you. A man has died following a helicopter crash near Ely, an | :09:11. | :09:15.
eyewitness saw it go down in an industrial estate in Witchford just | :09:15. | :09:24.
before midday. Just before 11.30 this morning, a helicopter came | :09:24. | :09:29.
crashing down, in the fields just behind me here. Now emergency | :09:29. | :09:32.
services have been on the scene, all day, you can probably see the | :09:32. | :09:36.
police behind me. We haven't been allowed oin to the scene and there | :09:36. | :09:40.
is two reasons, first there were concerns about safety, because | :09:40. | :09:43.
petrol was look leaking from the helicopter and the police were | :09:43. | :09:47.
concerned about safety. Second of all the field is covered in debris | :09:47. | :09:50.
from the crash and the air accident investigation team will have to | :09:50. | :09:55.
examine that to determine how and why this crash happened. With me is | :09:55. | :09:58.
Pat master son who saw the crash happen. Pat, you were out walking | :09:58. | :10:02.
your dog, tell me what you saw. was walking the dog along the side | :10:02. | :10:07.
of the airfield. I was aware there was a helicopter above me which is | :10:07. | :10:11.
not unusual, carried on walk, all of a sudden it seemed to backfire, | :10:11. | :10:16.
and then as I looked up the engine seemed to explode or go bang and | :10:17. | :10:20.
basically it plummeted out the sky. I thought it was going to come down | :10:20. | :10:24.
on myself and my dog so I was scrambling out of o the way. It | :10:24. | :10:29.
came down and I was waiting for it to explode. It didn't when it hit | :10:29. | :10:35.
the ground. I ran to it as quickly as I could. It was about 150 yards | :10:35. | :10:40.
away. A very strong smell of petrol or diesel there. It was a traumatic | :10:40. | :10:44.
scene, and it was very evident that the chap that was in it was | :10:44. | :10:48.
deceased. Very sad indeed. I will have to leave it there police say | :10:48. | :10:52.
the pilot is from Kent. His family has been involved but -- informled | :10:52. | :10:56.
but they are not naming him yet. Later in the programme. A look | :10:56. | :11:01.
ahead to the weekend's FA Cup fixtures. And meet Mason Fountain, | :11:01. | :11:05.
a seven-year-old with a brain tumour, who is busy setting up his | :11:05. | :11:15.
own charity. The police in nor toke still haven't been able to identify | :11:15. | :11:19.
a body found on the Sandringham estate. A murder investigation | :11:19. | :11:22.
began after human remains were discovered near the village of | :11:22. | :11:26.
Anmer on New Year's Day. Further tests are taking place this weekend. | :11:26. | :11:30.
When police arranged the press conference they had been hoping to | :11:30. | :11:33.
provide positive new information on the murder victim. But last night, | :11:33. | :11:38.
news from the lab, the latest tests on samples from the remains had not | :11:38. | :11:43.
revealed a usable DNA profile. scientists have double checked the | :11:44. | :11:48.
processes but due to decomposition the DNA in the samples aren't | :11:48. | :11:52.
available. We are going to a different process that will take | :11:52. | :11:57.
longer but we are confident that that will provide a full profile. | :11:57. | :12:01.
Detailed searches round the copse where a dog walker discovered the | :12:01. | :12:06.
remains have been continuing. The search has been joined by anent | :12:06. | :12:13.
moll gist. The movement of insects helping determine when the body was | :12:13. | :12:17.
deposited here. The postmortem established it was a whie white | :12:17. | :12:20.
female. The police say they want to identify people working in the area | :12:20. | :12:23.
round the time, and have contacted the Queen's estate manager about | :12:23. | :12:28.
events held in the area between the end of August and the end of | :12:28. | :12:33.
September. The latest tests carried out are on a femur bone, a leg bone | :12:33. | :12:37.
found at the site at Sandringham. Police are hoping if the tests go | :12:37. | :12:42.
well they will have a positive Sam. Their hands by Monday. Then the | :12:42. | :12:46.
real detective work starts vie area that DNA base or contacting the | :12:46. | :12:50.
families of missing young women to find out who the victim was. At the | :12:50. | :12:56.
moment we don't know her name, or how she died. The police say they | :12:56. | :13:04.
are making progress. An American debt collection agency has been | :13:04. | :13:08.
called in to chase library fines in Essex. The County Council says | :13:09. | :13:11.
Unique Management Services will focus on people with fines of more | :13:11. | :13:16.
than 20. It will be a three month trial. A row is brewing over a | :13:16. | :13:20.
website which aims to help commuters claim compensation for | :13:20. | :13:25.
train delays. Called SnailRail, it has been launched by a couple from | :13:25. | :13:29.
Essex for routes operating by National Express East Anglia. | :13:29. | :13:33.
National Express says it won't accept claims from what it calls | :13:33. | :13:38.
third party websites but it says some claim refunds by e-mail. | :13:38. | :13:41.
Martin works at a project manager in construction and has commuted to | :13:41. | :13:47.
London for the best part of 30 years. An ex es he has ex pr | :13:47. | :13:52.
experienced hold ups why is why he and his wife have created SnailRail. | :13:52. | :13:57.
We needed a name that was simple, but also relevant, because although | :13:57. | :14:03.
we have nothing do with snails they tend to be slow. We found out there | :14:03. | :14:08.
is eight million delays on National Express East Anglia routes per | :14:08. | :14:13.
annum. The couple from Colchester spend several thousands of pounds | :14:13. | :14:20.
creating the site. People put their details on the system and when they | :14:20. | :14:27.
are delayed they make a claim. Users pay 25 pence on top of the | :14:27. | :14:31.
cost of the message. A spokesman for National Express said in a | :14:31. | :14:41.
:14:41. | :14:48. | ||
I am sure there will be some discussion about it, but we are | :14:48. | :14:52.
providing a service. You get into work, you doesn't have time to fill | :14:52. | :14:56.
in a paper form, put it in a envelope, put it in the post. This | :14:56. | :15:00.
is the easiest way to claim for delays. National Express does | :15:00. | :15:05.
accept some claims via e-mail but most come via free post so there is | :15:05. | :15:09.
no cost to the traveller and are processed within days. The Dutch | :15:09. | :15:14.
firm will take over as the operator of the route, under a new tran | :15:14. | :15:19.
chies. The couple say they have yet to get its reaction to the | :15:19. | :15:24.
SnailRail plan. More than 6,000 naives have been taken off the | :15:24. | :15:29.
streets of Suffolk in the past year. The BBC Radio Suffolk Bin A Blade | :15:29. | :15:33.
campaign was inspired by Holly Watson, whose brother Lewis was | :15:33. | :15:36.
stabbed to death in 2009. The weapons were placed into special | :15:36. | :15:42.
secure bins. Do you remember this house in Chelmsford being sold off | :15:42. | :15:46.
cheap because it was covered in Ivy? Today it had a trim and has a | :15:46. | :15:53.
different look. It has been bought been aEssex-based businessman who | :15:53. | :15:59.
faces hefty renovation bills. It is believed it took workers more than | :15:59. | :16:03.
a week to clear The Ivy from the property. Hundreds of lives could | :16:03. | :16:08.
be saved across the region thanks to a group of bikers. Volunteer | :16:08. | :16:12.
motorcyclists take to the roads each night delivering blood for a | :16:12. | :16:17.
charity saving hospitals thousands of pounds. And now it has expanded. | :16:17. | :16:22.
It is the most technically advanced bloond bank in the country. They | :16:22. | :16:26.
use 10,000 units at this hospital a year. But it similar possible to | :16:26. | :16:31.
predict exactly how much they will need. We can survive on our | :16:31. | :16:34.
bloodstocks but there are times especially when we have Major | :16:35. | :16:39.
Incident Teams, that we can run low on blood. When we notice we are | :16:39. | :16:43.
running low we need to top up quickly. If we don't have that | :16:43. | :16:46.
facility, then patients are going to suffering so it is a vital | :16:46. | :16:51.
service. Here are those that make it all possible. Brett Jones works | :16:51. | :16:55.
in IT and is from Chelmsford. Ronnie from Peterborough is a come | :16:55. | :17:00.
puegt consultant and Roger is a retired engineer from Letchworth. | :17:00. | :17:05.
wanted to do, put something back in to society. I remember when this | :17:06. | :17:11.
first started up, back in the 60s, when I was a young lad, and I | :17:11. | :17:16.
thought then, I wouldn't mind doing it. Get to ride the bikes. We were | :17:16. | :17:19.
called by Ipswich hospital and they had run out of blood in the | :17:19. | :17:23.
hospital because of a major bleed they had, so we had to relay with | :17:23. | :17:28.
the Essex blood runners and bring in three more boxs to make a | :17:28. | :17:33.
stockpile. Had they run out again, they wouldn't have had any blood to | :17:33. | :17:38.
look their patients. Each delivery saves hospitals 50. They defend | :17:38. | :17:42.
using charity saying as blood is given for free, it makes sense for | :17:42. | :17:46.
it to be delivered for free. Bikers say they are just pleased to help | :17:46. | :17:56.
:17:56. | :17:59. | ||
out. Rugby now and tonight is the last chance for Northampton's | :17:59. | :18:03.
players to impress England's coaching staff before they announce | :18:03. | :18:09.
their squads for the Six Nations. Tonight, the Saints play Harlequins. | :18:09. | :18:13.
It is a big footballing weekend with the Third Round of the FA Cup. | :18:13. | :18:20.
With a look ahead to both, here is James. Warm welcome to Franklin's | :18:20. | :18:25.
gardens. It is not just first against third in the Premiership. | :18:25. | :18:31.
We reckon there could be as many 16-23 players who are vying to get | :18:31. | :18:35.
into the England squad. We will have more in a short while. Let us | :18:35. | :18:39.
talk about the Third Round of the FA Cup. Two of our teams across the | :18:39. | :18:42.
weekend will be playing Premier League opposition. Today the | :18:43. | :18:47.
Norwich boss Paul Lambert has been involved in a spat with Neil | :18:47. | :18:52.
Warnock. All centred after the match last Monday. Tom Williams has | :18:52. | :18:58.
the details. It is the story that won't go away. And the referee has | :18:58. | :19:03.
given Joey Warton a red card. There is a suggestion of use of the head | :19:03. | :19:08.
by him and it is there. Who says cheats don't prosper? I think | :19:08. | :19:14.
Bradley conned everybody there. The FA dismissed QPR's appeal. The red | :19:14. | :19:18.
card stands, along with the three match ban. The incident was still | :19:18. | :19:23.
the main focus of attention this morning at a press conference, the | :19:23. | :19:27.
Norwich boss leapt to Bradley Johnson's defence. He is my player | :19:27. | :19:32.
and he is not a cheat. If you are going to label somebody that have | :19:32. | :19:36.
some substance, he is not a cheat. I don't think it is a full blooded | :19:36. | :19:42.
headbutt but you went face to face with the somebody that, is not the | :19:42. | :19:47.
issue, the issue is the comments after. After beating QPR Norwich | :19:48. | :19:57.
have a home tie the Burnley. The boss was sent to the stands after | :19:57. | :20:02.
entering the field of play. The Dons were forced to train inside | :20:02. | :20:08.
due to the weather to prepare for their game with QPR. We are in a | :20:08. | :20:13.
good form, we are cleaning a clean sheet. We are looking forward to | :20:13. | :20:18.
challenging them. It will be the Premier League stars of Sunderland | :20:18. | :20:24.
making this walk. Peterborough facing one of the centreest tests | :20:24. | :20:27.
against Sunderland. They are working for one another. Added to | :20:27. | :20:32.
the ability they already have, you know, it is a dangerous tool. Maybe | :20:32. | :20:37.
in a way it is better they are in that form. It makes us more | :20:37. | :20:40.
underdogs. Ipswich are at Hull. Paul Jewell is under mounting | :20:40. | :20:47.
pressure, two wins in 126789 Stevenage head to red, their 13 | :20:47. | :20:55.
game unbeaten run over. Reading beat them in round four so can Boro | :20:55. | :21:01.
gain revenge? And other football this weekend in League Two, and | :21:01. | :21:09.
Bedford are on the road to play Doncaster. The Six Nations squad | :21:09. | :21:13.
will be announced on January. Andy long has been there before with | :21:13. | :21:18.
England, he is on the books at Northampton. The players will be | :21:18. | :21:22.
nervous. How do they put the England thing to one side? It is | :21:22. | :21:27.
difficult. The new squad is about to be picked. You try and put it | :21:27. | :21:30.
out of your mine, concentrate on the game ahead. That is how you are | :21:30. | :21:34.
going to get into the squad. news rugby in the headlines for the | :21:34. | :21:40.
wrong reasons again. Danny Care has been axed from the Six Nations side. | :21:40. | :21:43.
He will be playing against the man who will probably take his Jersey, | :21:43. | :21:47.
Lee Dixon, how do you rate his chances of playing for England? | :21:47. | :21:52.
is the inform nine at the moment in the Premiership. He has, you know, | :21:52. | :21:54.
has to be given his opportunity. There is no reason he shouldn't. | :21:54. | :21:59.
See if he can do it on the bigger stage. It will be a massive | :21:59. | :22:06.
three players who want to put their hand up to be counted for captain. | :22:06. | :22:09.
I suppose, not many of them have much international experience and | :22:09. | :22:14.
one of them has to do it. I think the captaincy will come from one of | :22:14. | :22:21.
those or Tom Croft so you have Dylan and Tom who hasn't got any | :22:21. | :22:25.
experience, how you couldn't ask for anyone in a good position to do | :22:25. | :22:30.
that because he is a wonderful player, and he will lead the squad | :22:30. | :22:35.
forward. It. Weren't you nervous before a big call-up? You do. When | :22:35. | :22:40.
I first got called up, it was back in the day, 1997 and the week | :22:40. | :22:44.
leading up, I was sat down, that week and said something could | :22:44. | :22:48.
happen this week, be prepared and you know, luckily the next, it | :22:48. | :22:55.
happened for me. They have to be prepared tonight. The game kicks | :22:55. | :23:00.
off later. It will be interesting to see what happens. Thank you. The | :23:00. | :23:04.
story of an inspirational young boy from Ipswich who is using his own | :23:04. | :23:08.
experiences to help others. Seven- year-old Mason Fountain was | :23:08. | :23:11.
diagnose with the a brain tumour but his positive attitude has led | :23:11. | :23:20.
to him setting up his own charity. This scar is where I had my drain | :23:20. | :23:27.
fluid off. This is where I have my bloods done. Every day Mason | :23:27. | :23:32.
mountain has to take a range of medication and he has been through | :23:32. | :23:37.
20 months of chemo their pi. When I was in hospital, I was in my room | :23:37. | :23:47.
on my own and they were giving me blood tests, and transfusions, | :23:47. | :23:54.
temperatures. I felt sad. An lonely. It is hard because when he son his | :23:54. | :23:58.
own he wants to be normal, wants to play and he can't do that, so it is | :23:58. | :24:05.
hard seeing him obviously being ill and lonely as well. But when a | :24:05. | :24:12.
charity gave him the chance to meet N-Dubz he decided he wants to help | :24:12. | :24:17.
other sick children so he set up his own children called Mason's | :24:17. | :24:25.
Magic and it has raised 1400 in a week. Hi may song, well done for | :24:25. | :24:30.
being a strong boy. Wish you health and happiness. I settle up the | :24:30. | :24:34.
charity to make other children happy and make them smile. We set | :24:34. | :24:39.
up the Twitter account for the charity and it went crazy, we we | :24:39. | :24:44.
were so lucky with the followers and the support from the celebs and | :24:44. | :24:48.
like Kirk from the only way is Essex. Gordon Ramsay, the Ipswich | :24:48. | :24:53.
Town player, and it is just great to have them supporting us as well. | :24:53. | :24:58.
Mason wants to raise 5,000 in total. He has this message for | :24:58. | :25:04.
other sick children. Keep positive, and if I can do it then you can. | :25:05. | :25:09.
And there isn't nothing to be worried about. What a special boy. | :25:09. | :25:15.
Mason Fountain ending that report. Mason Fountain ending that report. | :25:15. | :25:17.
Any more wind this weekend? A little tomorrow but nothing like it | :25:17. | :25:20.
has been. Much calmer conditions across the region today. Quite a | :25:20. | :25:24.
bit of sunshine, but we have had a weather front approaching from the | :25:24. | :25:29.
west, and that is turning things cloudy, already as you can see from | :25:29. | :25:32.
this animation on the satellite chart. Eventually that cloud could | :25:32. | :25:36.
produce the odd spot of patchy light rain or drizzle and it's the | :25:36. | :25:40.
first part of the night that gets colder. Expect temperatures to fall | :25:40. | :25:45.
to about 4C at their lower, and mainly westerly winds light to | :25:45. | :25:47.
moderate in strength. For the second half of the might the | :25:47. | :25:53.
temperatures will lift and the wind speed will freshen. It will turn to | :25:53. | :25:57.
a North Westly direction. So, the weekend brings us fairly settled | :25:57. | :26:01.
conditions. It is a mainly dry story with sunny spells. A bit of | :26:01. | :26:05.
cloud to clear first thing, particularly parts of Essex might | :26:05. | :26:10.
have the odd spot of light rain to start W we should see plenty of | :26:10. | :26:14.
sunshine across the region and temperatures will peak at 8C. It | :26:14. | :26:19.
will be fairly breezy tomorrow, we will have a moderate to fresh wind, | :26:19. | :26:23.
so windier conditions than today. But it should stay dry and | :26:23. | :26:28.
therefore the afternoon we will see more sunshine. Looking ahead this | :26:28. | :26:31.
settled weather is caused by a ridge of high pressure that is | :26:31. | :26:36.
building from the south-west, and what it is tending to co-is it is | :26:36. | :26:39.
forcing the activity on those fronts to the north of us. If we | :26:39. | :26:44.
look to Wednesday you will see we still have high pressure across us, | :26:44. | :26:48.
so it should stay settled. So there will be varying ams of sunshine. | :26:48. | :26:52.
Temperatures above normal for this time of year. A little breezy | :26:52. | :26:58.
tomorrow but lighter wind. If we bring up the overnight lows the | :26:58. | :27:03.
nights to watch out for are Saturday, down 3C. 2 on Monday. So | :27:03. | :27:07.
that could bring the risk of a touch of ground frost. As you see, | :27:07. | :27:11.
most of the days should be dry. Where there is a cloud we might get | :27:11. | :27:16.
the odd spot or two of rain but mainly dry. Last night couldn't | :27:16. | :27:22. |
