In BBC tonight: Hundreds of jobs to go as Aquascutum slips into | :00:15. | :00:20.
administration and Dairy Crest says it wants to close a factory. Also | :00:20. | :00:24.
tonight: On another tough day for the high street, we get the view | :00:24. | :00:30.
from a dragon. By high street will come back, but not as you know it. | :00:30. | :00:33.
The paratroopers injured in Afghanistan heading for Morocco, | :00:33. | :00:38.
and getting ready for life on the Flat - another season beckons at | :00:38. | :00:48.
:00:48. | :00:51. | ||
Hello. First tonight, as many as 500 people working at two very | :00:51. | :00:54.
different companies have been told the are likely to lose their jobs | :00:54. | :00:59.
as the region's economy takes another knock. The first news came | :00:59. | :01:02.
through early this morning from Dairy Crest. 250 jobs will go at | :01:02. | :01:07.
their site next to the A14 at Fenstanton in Cambridgeshire. More | :01:07. | :01:11.
on that in a moment. Then, early this afternoon, one of the best- | :01:11. | :01:13.
known names in luxury clothing, Aquascutum, went into | :01:13. | :01:15.
administration, putting yet more jobs under threat at their factory | :01:15. | :01:25.
:01:25. | :01:28. | ||
in Corby. Mike Cartwright is there now. This factory is very much at | :01:28. | :01:33.
the heart of manufacturing at this prestigious company, but it has | :01:33. | :01:38.
been virtually all -- empty all day. The workers had been told to stay | :01:38. | :01:42.
away after their Easter holidays. One employee told me he was worried | :01:42. | :01:46.
and upset but he described this as an extended sentence, he said. He | :01:46. | :01:49.
said the company had been struggling since it was taking over | :01:49. | :01:54.
three years ago. Kim Reilly has more. It is a luxury brand that has | :01:54. | :02:01.
fallen on hard times. Parading its products at London fashion Week. | :02:01. | :02:07.
Its name is Latin for water shield. It developed the first waterproof | :02:07. | :02:15.
bowl. It was best known for a type of overcoat morning the first for | :02:15. | :02:25.
:02:25. | :02:25. | ||
war. Margaret Thatcher nor their clothes. Other fans include Winston | :02:25. | :02:29.
Churchill and the Queen Mother, as well as Humphrey Bogart and carry | :02:29. | :02:39.
:02:39. | :02:41. | ||
grant. Employees picketed its prestige store in Regent Street. | :02:41. | :02:47.
The company brought in replacements, saying it could not afford more | :02:47. | :02:54.
than 1.3% rise. You can find jackets on line for nearly 400, | :02:54. | :02:59.
high-end products with high end prices. Three years ago the company | :02:59. | :03:03.
was bought, the intention being to turn it round. But it has continued | :03:03. | :03:08.
to make significant losses. The company may be big latest high- | :03:08. | :03:14.
profile name to fall victim to the downturn. We have been pleasantly | :03:14. | :03:20.
surprised this afternoon by the very strong interest in the company | :03:20. | :03:24.
from around the world. The Topaz -- the hope is that the company will | :03:24. | :03:31.
not only survived but prospered. Despite what the administrators say, | :03:31. | :03:34.
clearly, there will be more than 100 workers wondering whether they | :03:34. | :03:39.
have a job to come back to hear. For the reason, up -- a prestigious | :03:39. | :03:44.
brand with a pedigree of over 100 years. | :03:45. | :03:51.
Onto Dairy Crest now. 250 jobs look likely to go. The company says it | :03:51. | :03:57.
simply has to cut costs. This dairy has a long and proud | :03:57. | :04:03.
history. There has been a dairy on this site since 1926, but Dairy | :04:03. | :04:09.
Crest now believe that this place is too small, too old-fashioned and | :04:09. | :04:14.
too far away from its key suppliers. Our business correspondent, Richard | :04:14. | :04:21.
Bond has been looking at why the dairy business has been finding it | :04:21. | :04:29.
so tough. The Fenstanton Dairy employs 250 people, but not for | :04:29. | :04:37.
much longer. Our dairy business has been under pressure for some time. | :04:37. | :04:40.
We need to take steps to ensure the long-term sustainable future of the | :04:40. | :04:44.
business. We do not take these decisions lightly but unfortunately | :04:44. | :04:48.
be on their way forward will be to close this dairy, subject to | :04:49. | :04:54.
consultation. A dairy is 86 years old and, despite some investments, | :04:54. | :05:01.
Dairy Crest says it is not modern enough to survive. In future, more | :05:01. | :05:04.
efficient dairies in London and Derbyshire will process East | :05:04. | :05:08.
Anglian milk. David Burrows is one of the farmers whose milk will have | :05:08. | :05:14.
to travel further. He is a Dairy Crest supplier on the | :05:14. | :05:22.
Norfolk/Suffolk border. To think that milk has to go to London and | :05:22. | :05:26.
then back to this area seems absolutely crazy to me. The number | :05:26. | :05:33.
of dairy farmers in East Anglia has halved in the last decade. | :05:33. | :05:39.
Supermarket customers drive hard bargains. The closure of Fenstanton | :05:39. | :05:45.
will leave us with only one big producer in the area. This, too, is | :05:45. | :05:54.
an old site. There is speculation that Hatfield will also close. A | :05:54. | :05:58.
few farmers do their own processing, among them this company, which | :05:58. | :06:02.
takes milk from six family farms in Suffolk and sells to local schools | :06:03. | :06:08.
and hotels. Dairy farms are an integral part of how the | :06:08. | :06:12.
countryside looks. Once they're gone, it will be the tax payers who | :06:12. | :06:16.
will have to pay to keep it the way that the farmers do to stop if we | :06:16. | :06:20.
can keep a processing in this area and with customers supporting local | :06:21. | :06:26.
produce, it will have to be a good thing. The union called the | :06:26. | :06:30.
decision at Fenstanton devastating for workers. Unless there is a | :06:30. | :06:34.
rethink, the site will close by the end of the year. Workers here are | :06:34. | :06:39.
only found out about the closure at 7am today. The people I have spoken | :06:39. | :06:43.
to say that there is a genuine shock that such a major employer is | :06:43. | :06:47.
pulling out of Cambridgeshire. There is a small chance that | :06:47. | :06:51.
perhaps 40 workers may be redeployed within the company. But | :06:51. | :06:55.
when it comes to the last bottle of milk being packaged here in | :06:55. | :07:01.
November, at least 210 people will be made redundant. | :07:01. | :07:05.
Richard Bond is here. Richard, to my very different industries. Let | :07:05. | :07:10.
us start with milk - is there still a future for dairy farming in the | :07:10. | :07:14.
East? The abyss. I think they will have to be small and highly local | :07:15. | :07:20.
or they will have to be much bigger, maybe having 400 Callow's and | :07:20. | :07:25.
willing to supply the likes of Dairy Crest and then see milk been | :07:25. | :07:31.
transported over long distancess to Super Dairies. What about | :07:31. | :07:38.
Aquascutum. Some luxury brands are done very well, why not then? | :07:38. | :07:43.
it looks at a brand like Burberry, it is currently taking China and | :07:43. | :07:47.
India by storm and seeing huge growth. It makes you realise the | :07:47. | :07:51.
potential in Aquascutum. The current management has not cracked | :07:51. | :07:54.
it. It is an opportunity for a new owner to come in and exploit this | :07:54. | :08:04.
brand value and make the global success. Thank you. Still to come | :08:04. | :08:07.
tonight: We're on the gallops with a top trainer in Newmarket. And a | :08:07. | :08:16.
little retail therapy and of the theory of Theo. | :08:16. | :08:19.
The focus of the local election campaign has been on Harlow today, | :08:19. | :08:22.
one of the key targets for Labour. Until 2008, the district council | :08:22. | :08:25.
was run by a coalition of Labour and Liberal Democrats, but is now | :08:25. | :08:31.
under Conservative control, with a majority of one. A few other facts: | :08:32. | :08:35.
Harlow is one of the original New Towns and is home to 80,000 people. | :08:35. | :08:38.
Unemployment stands at 8.4%, above the average for this region. But, | :08:38. | :08:40.
while traditional manufacturing has declined, a survey for the BBC | :08:40. | :08:43.
showed Harlow is one of the best places to start a business. The | :08:44. | :08:46.
Labour spokesman on health, Andy Burnham, has been campaigning there | :08:46. | :08:49.
today, and when I spoke to him late this afternoon, I started by asking | :08:50. | :08:59.
:09:00. | :09:00. | ||
about those job losses we have heard so much about this evening. | :09:00. | :09:04.
This is obviously bad news for the region, and I feel for the families | :09:04. | :09:09.
who are worried about their future tonight. Quite frankly, the | :09:09. | :09:13.
Government needs to do more. We needed a Budget for jobs and growth | :09:13. | :09:17.
in the last few weeks and we did not get it. If when they moved into | :09:17. | :09:20.
the Treasury, the government-backed founder not from the Labour Party | :09:20. | :09:23.
saying that the money was all gone. There is not a lot they can do, is | :09:23. | :09:27.
there? Of course, the important thing is to get the economy growing | :09:27. | :09:32.
because when it is what then we are not paying money if for keeping | :09:32. | :09:35.
people out of work and we are getting money back into the economy. | :09:35. | :09:38.
The important thing is to support people in difficult times, and | :09:38. | :09:43.
particularly young people. If we look at you can -- unemployment in | :09:43. | :09:50.
the region -- a youth unemployment in the region. A whistle spending | :09:50. | :09:55.
on keeping people out of work is not the way to go. The government | :09:55. | :10:00.
might needs a rethink. You must applaud the collision stands on | :10:00. | :10:03.
apprenticeships, because the take up in hard law has been very good. | :10:03. | :10:07.
There have been good moves on apprenticeships and I will support | :10:07. | :10:14.
the government might well be to the right thing. -- the Government when | :10:14. | :10:24.
:10:24. | :10:30. | ||
they do the right thing. Many people in the collision call the | :10:30. | :10:33.
Future Jobs Fund a costly mistake. I do not agree with that because I | :10:33. | :10:38.
have seen in my own constituency young people who were given an | :10:38. | :10:43.
opportunity, who took on a job in a voluntary organisation and have | :10:43. | :10:47.
then blossomed as a result and have confidence to go on. It was | :10:47. | :10:51.
something that was really giving people a foot into the jobs market | :10:51. | :10:56.
when they needed it. Beyond that, there is the educational | :10:56. | :11:00.
maintenance allowance which was important in keeping people in | :11:00. | :11:03.
education and training. If the loss of that has seen many young people | :11:03. | :11:06.
drop out. These are the wrong things to do, particularly at the | :11:06. | :11:10.
moment, when times are as tough as they are. Thank you for being with | :11:10. | :11:18.
us. The skipper of a barge which got into trouble off Essex has been | :11:18. | :11:20.
airlifted to hospital. The 100-foot Francesca Prior lost power this | :11:20. | :11:22.
morning six miles off the coast. The Walton-on-the-Naze lifeboat | :11:23. | :11:25.
managed to tow the vessel into Brightlingsea, but the skipper was | :11:25. | :11:30.
taken ill during the operation and had to be winched off by helicopter. | :11:30. | :11:33.
Four soldiers based in Essex who were badly injured in Afghanistan | :11:33. | :11:36.
are taking part in a trek across the desert in Morocco. They are | :11:36. | :11:39.
trying to raise 40,000 for a charity which helps other | :11:39. | :11:47.
servicemen and women who have been injured in the same war. Just a | :11:47. | :11:50.
year after being badly injured, these paratroopers are getting | :11:50. | :11:56.
ready for their next mission. They include Mark, who was shot in the | :11:56. | :12:01.
leg when his patrol was ambushed. If he is looking for two testing | :12:01. | :12:05.
himself. We will be going through Spain, into Morocco, hitting the | :12:06. | :12:10.
Moroccan desert. We will then do survival tasks in the desert. | :12:10. | :12:15.
army says that the injured soldiers are the very embodiment of the | :12:15. | :12:20.
spirit and ethos of the Parachute Regiment. They were all injured in | :12:20. | :12:25.
Helmand Province on the Afghanistan front line. One was shot and three | :12:25. | :12:33.
stepped on bombs. It was on 2nd January last year, I was on patrol. | :12:33. | :12:38.
I went back -- round the back of the compound and stepped on an | :12:38. | :12:44.
improvised explosive device. They will trek ten miles through the | :12:44. | :12:47.
desert. We do not mess about - whatever has happened has happened. | :12:47. | :12:52.
We will just crack on. Sergeant Alan Jackson now has a prosthetic | :12:52. | :13:02.
right leg. He says the support the Afghanistan Trust has given is | :13:02. | :13:10.
vital. Nobody will let this hamper them too far. The soldiers hope | :13:10. | :13:13.
that what they can achieve despite serious injuries will inspire | :13:13. | :13:23.
:13:23. | :13:27. | ||
others. Ipswich Town will be without Jimmy | :13:27. | :13:29.
Bullard and goalkeeper Richard Wright for the Championship clash | :13:29. | :13:32.
with Birmingham tonight. When the sides met in January, Serbian | :13:32. | :13:37.
striker Nikola Zigic scored twice, including an injury-time winner. | :13:37. | :13:42.
is difficult. We have to defend not just the first ball but the second | :13:42. | :13:52.
:13:52. | :13:52. | ||
ball. Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the Olympic torch | :13:52. | :13:55.
will be carried through the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk when | :13:55. | :13:58.
it comes to this region. The torch will spend eight days touring the | :13:58. | :14:01.
region. No members of the Royal Family will be at Sandringham on | :14:01. | :14:04.
4th July, when the torch relay passes through. The torch will | :14:04. | :14:07.
arrive in this region on the 2nd July. There will be evening | :14:07. | :14:08.
celebrations in Peterborough, Norwich, Ipswich, Chelmsford, | :14:08. | :14:11.
Cambridge and Luton. The flat- racing season is upon us again, and | :14:11. | :14:13.
Newmarket racecourse will be opening its gates tomorrow. Over | :14:13. | :14:16.
the next eight months, horses from across the globe will be competing | :14:16. | :14:19.
there. But some of the best trainers and horses live within a | :14:19. | :14:27.
stone's throw of the course. The course at Newmarket has been quiet | :14:27. | :14:34.
for a few months - no horses, no punters, and certainly no winners. | :14:34. | :14:37.
But the 20 tell season is just around the corner. The horse power | :14:37. | :14:41.
is being fine-tuned -- fine-tuned for another season on the Flat. | :14:42. | :14:45.
After more than 2,000 career victories, this man still has the | :14:45. | :14:49.
drive for more. If you enjoy what you're doing and you're passionate, | :14:49. | :14:52.
that is great. Like anything, things can go wrong as well as | :14:52. | :14:58.
right. It is a challenge. I think it is like a football manager - you | :14:58. | :15:01.
start with a clean slate again and you have to prove yourself of | :15:01. | :15:04.
Oregon. The challenge is something that keeps you sharp-eyed on the | :15:04. | :15:10.
ball. Nathaniel could hit the headlines again this year. He is | :15:10. | :15:15.
hoping to give last year's European Horse of the year, Frankel, are run | :15:15. | :15:20.
for his money. Especially if he is still injured. That is your team - | :15:20. | :15:23.
you have to work with it and get the best out of them, mentally and | :15:23. | :15:27.
physically. There are always surprising things but you have to | :15:27. | :15:34.
keep your head at all times. racecourse has seen some changes. | :15:34. | :15:38.
Amy Starkey has just a matter of hours until her first challenge as | :15:38. | :15:48.
the new manager. He it is a huge a walk -- it is a huge honour. I do | :15:48. | :15:51.
my job because I love racing, so I am looking forward to passing on | :15:51. | :15:55.
that enthusiasm and encouraging as many people as possible to come | :15:55. | :15:59.
racing at Newmarket this year. home of racing gets it season under | :15:59. | :16:03.
way tomorrow with the start of the Craven meeting. Pilot trainer's | :16:03. | :16:12.
work is never done, it is an early night for the real superstars. -- | :16:12. | :16:20.
while at trainer's work. The Dragon's Den star Theo Paphitis has | :16:20. | :16:23.
been in the region today for the opening of another branch of his | :16:24. | :16:31.
lingerie chain, Boux Avenue. Retailers continue to find life | :16:31. | :16:34.
pretty tough, of course. We have heard about Aquascutum going into | :16:34. | :16:37.
administration. Today also saw shares in Marks and Spencer fall | :16:37. | :16:39.
after it announced disappointing sales figures. We will hear from | :16:39. | :16:42.
Theo Paphitis in a moment, but first, let's take a look at how | :16:42. | :16:46.
shops are doing in our region. Our reporters have been out in three | :16:46. | :16:48.
very different locations - Norwich, Luton and Thetford, from where | :16:48. | :16:54.
Debbie Tubby reports. Parts of Thetford a picturesque, but its | :16:54. | :16:57.
high street needs a complete change of direction. 16% of the shops here | :16:57. | :17:01.
have closed. We used to have a fantastic sports shop on this | :17:01. | :17:06.
street. There used to be a fruit and veg shop, a jewellery shop and | :17:06. | :17:09.
a furniture shop. These three are part of a team are lobbying | :17:09. | :17:17.
government hopping to be one of the town's sharing 1 million to spruce | :17:17. | :17:21.
up their shops and kick-start their idea. Lots of people have -- talk | :17:21. | :17:26.
about having a sense of ownership. We want to have real on a ship here. | :17:26. | :17:35.
We will sell shares, they will only be 25,000 at -- 25 each. We will | :17:35. | :17:39.
anchor their future in the town and the prosperity for everybody. | :17:39. | :17:43.
40% of the high street here is retail. That includes the charity | :17:43. | :17:49.
shops. This organisation is optimistic that it can entice | :17:49. | :17:53.
shoppers back. We have seen in the last six weeks an actual increase | :17:53. | :17:58.
in people using their town centre already. It is almost like a no- | :17:58. | :18:02.
brainer. People have this idea that they have to go elsewhere to shop | :18:02. | :18:08.
when they don't at all. At the moment you have out-of-town retail | :18:08. | :18:11.
parks that do not support and centres. We have to get across that | :18:11. | :18:16.
we have a community that wants to use its high street. They hope that | :18:16. | :18:26.
their originality will appeal to the government. Unlike one famous | :18:26. | :18:31.
face was always told, don't panic, the high street is not doomed. Big | :18:31. | :18:35.
changes for Thetford, but what about Luton? It is very close to | :18:35. | :18:40.
London. Felicity has been talking to shoppers there. There are a lot | :18:40. | :18:46.
of cheap shops come into Luton, and I notice that some of the very | :18:46. | :18:55.
expensive shops, like jewellers, have begun to close. Life is very | :18:55. | :19:00.
different from 50 years ago. much have you noticed Luton has | :19:00. | :19:07.
changed with regard to the shops? Nowadays they give too many sales. | :19:07. | :19:13.
I try to avoid it because maybe I will buy something I don't need. | :19:13. | :19:18.
Every body is doing special offers at -- offers. They have to cut down | :19:18. | :19:26.
on prices. We also see a lot of shops shutting down. You would | :19:26. | :19:29.
probably end up paying less for clothing than you would have done | :19:29. | :19:35.
before the recession. A this year we have started with that too 0.5% | :19:35. | :19:45.
:19:45. | :19:46. | ||
increase in like-for-like sales across the sector. 15% of units | :19:46. | :19:51.
nationally are empty, that is 8% in Luton. We are working to bring new | :19:51. | :19:55.
vitality be that -- to the town and the centre itself. Finally, to | :19:55. | :20:00.
Norwich, which markets itself as one of the top 10 places to shop in | :20:00. | :20:08.
the UK. BeShe restored that we mentioned is in Chapelfield, a | :20:08. | :20:18.
:20:18. | :20:28. | ||
shopping centre -- the new lingerie store. We have the only regional | :20:28. | :20:31.
house of Fraser, we have Apple. When people want to come as a | :20:32. | :20:36.
special day at they will come to Norwich, rather than perhaps going | :20:36. | :20:40.
farther afield. I think we are and has possessed -- in a position to | :20:40. | :20:44.
compete with Westfield and Stratford because he has some great | :20:44. | :20:48.
retailers. According to the Association of Town Centre Managers, | :20:49. | :20:52.
the number of people shopping across the East last year fell by | :20:52. | :20:58.
4.9%. If you look at Norwich, there figure is just 0.4%. Some shoppers | :20:58. | :21:02.
and retailers are still finding things a bit of a challenge. | :21:02. | :21:08.
cost of things seems to have risen. As purse strings are tightening, | :21:08. | :21:11.
other things seem to be increasing. I mainly shop on the internet | :21:11. | :21:17.
because of the price. It is easier and you can do it in your own time. | :21:18. | :21:22.
The price of silver is rising. We also find that people have less | :21:22. | :21:25.
money to spend at the moment, so we have diversified the products that | :21:25. | :21:34.
we have. Prices are going up, it is tough for us. People have no money | :21:34. | :21:40.
and are the future is not guaranteed. City College in Norwich | :21:40. | :21:42.
believes that training the entrepreneurs of the future will | :21:42. | :21:47.
lead to more independent stores. Today they open their new skills | :21:47. | :21:50.
academy. And, with a bit of celebrity backing, they hope it | :21:50. | :21:58.
will provide the inspiration needed. A taste of the challenges facing | :21:58. | :22:04.
shops. We saw Theo Paphitis there. Today, he opened his latest store | :22:04. | :22:07.
in the Chapelfield shopping centre. I started by putting to him that it | :22:07. | :22:11.
is a tough time to start a new chain. As retailers, it is very | :22:11. | :22:15.
rarely that we invest just for today it. If I was investing for | :22:15. | :22:18.
the next two or three years I would not be spending the sort of money | :22:18. | :22:22.
that I have spent fitting out of these shops and opening up across | :22:22. | :22:27.
the UK. It is about the long-term and showing confidence in the | :22:27. | :22:31.
economy, and of course in the United Kingdom. D'you think there | :22:31. | :22:35.
is enough political support for the high street? If I had to be honest, | :22:35. | :22:39.
I would have to say there is a lot of lip service and razzmatazz and | :22:39. | :22:45.
very little substance. The fact is that retailers are still confident, | :22:45. | :22:50.
we are still opening shops. Customers are changing. They are | :22:50. | :22:55.
spending money on the internet, spending their money at | :22:55. | :23:00.
supermarkets. They are spending in town centres and shopping centres. | :23:00. | :23:04.
We have to be careful that we put our stores where the customer wants | :23:04. | :23:09.
to be. Do you think, as a result of that, we will see our high streets | :23:09. | :23:14.
getting smaller? I think we will definitely see changes. We have | :23:14. | :23:20.
already seen changes. We have seen closed shops, we have just not | :23:20. | :23:24.
reacted to the changes. We have to do that. High streets will come | :23:24. | :23:29.
back, but not as you know them. do you think they will change? What | :23:29. | :23:33.
would you advise be to some of the people managing our town centres | :23:33. | :23:38.
and high streets? What is the key to success? It is very simple - | :23:38. | :23:40.
there is no point in having high streets without jobs around them | :23:40. | :23:45.
because no-one will be there. If you have to create jobs and create | :23:45. | :23:50.
the community around them. That is important and it is a you have to | :23:50. | :23:53.
make them accessible. There is no point saying you do not want cars | :23:53. | :23:59.
and transport or charging people to stay away. That is nonsense. We | :23:59. | :24:02.
have to make them welcoming and affordable. What would you advise | :24:02. | :24:06.
be to someone who wanted to get into the retail sector now? If they | :24:06. | :24:11.
had a great idea to open an independent shop in a city like | :24:11. | :24:15.
Norwich, Milton Keynes a Ipswich or whenever, what would be the key | :24:15. | :24:21.
thing you would say? Do your homework, understand your customers. | :24:21. | :24:25.
Under her -- understand how your customer likes to spend their money | :24:25. | :24:29.
and then make sure that you park your tank write a there. It will be | :24:29. | :24:33.
at least three years before I get my money back, so I know I will | :24:33. | :24:38.
lose money for at least three years. If it could be even longer. We are | :24:38. | :24:43.
investing in the long term and building a brand. As far as I am | :24:43. | :24:47.
concerned, being here in Norwich is a key part of that. Thank you very | :24:47. | :24:53.
much indeed. If you were wondering why it was only men walking around | :24:53. | :25:00.
that shop, they were from the press. Yes, they were taking photographs. | :25:00. | :25:10.
:25:10. | :25:12. | ||
The weather is unsettled at the moment. That is because of some | :25:12. | :25:20.
high pressure that will be with us -- some low pressure that will be | :25:20. | :25:26.
with us over the next few days to stop the Rame this morning cleared | :25:26. | :25:32.
away and then there were some pretty sharp showers behind it. | :25:32. | :25:39.
This is where the showers were about an there a go. -- about an | :25:39. | :25:48.
hour ago. The first part of the night looks like it will be clear. | :25:48. | :25:53.
It is later on that it will become increasingly cloudy, with patchy | :25:53. | :25:56.
rain, particularly in the west and south of the region. That should | :25:56. | :26:02.
protect us from frost. The lowest temperature overnight should be a | :26:02. | :26:12.
:26:12. | :26:16. | ||
ride three Celsius. Tomorrow brings us a very cloudy day. There will be | :26:16. | :26:25.
rain, some of it heavy. Some places may not get above single figures in | :26:25. | :26:35.
:26:35. | :26:39. | ||
temperature. It will be pretty breezy. It could feel quite chilly | :26:39. | :26:44.
in the wind. Showery rain in the afternoon. Some of it could be | :26:44. | :26:54.
:26:54. | :26:56. | ||
heavy. On Thursday, this is where the low pressure is. It is right | :26:56. | :27:01.
over us. And that is where it will stay for several days, relief for | :27:01. | :27:04.
the rest of this weekend into the weekend. It looks as though it will | :27:04. | :27:09.
stay pretty unsettled. There will be showers or spells of rain and it | :27:09. | :27:13.
will feel pretty cool. There is a risk of some heavy showers for the | :27:13. | :27:18. |
