A blind woman has been left devastated after burglars broke into

her home and stole one of hdr lifelines with the outside world.

Georgina Rimmer has been blhnd since birth. She was alone in her flat in

Peterborough when it was rahded The burglars stole all her electronic

equipment. The haul included her ?3,500 Braille`operated computer

which she depends upon. And which wasn't insured. I'm disgustdd.

I don't know how to describd these people. I know they haven't got a

conscience. Because if they had they would have seen the sttff was

useless to them anyway. And just gone.

Police have named a man who died in a house fire in Wellingborotgh.

48`year`old Steven Chennell had been living rough in the town for several

years. He died when fire tore through the house in Midland Road on

Tuesday. A 36`year`old man has been released on police bail pending the

results of forensic examinations of the scene.

A man is due in court chargdd with the rape of a woman in Ipswhch. The

28`year`old victim was attacked in Cromer Road off the town's Norwich

Road on Monday night. 21`ye`r`old Mohammed Sarteb`Sabir from Hpswich

is due before magistrates in Bury St Edmunds.

In Rugby Union, Northampton are playing their LV Cup semifinal

against Saracens right now. A couple of early Will Hooley penalthes gave

Saints the advantage. But S`racens have scored the game's first try.

of course, minus the England players who will play in the Six Nations

crunch game against Wales tomorrow. We'll update you later on S`ints cup

final hopes. Later on, Bedford host Plymouth in the Championship at

Goldington Road. In the Premier League this

afternoon, Norwich City welcome Stoke to Carrow Road. The C`naries

could move seven points cle`r of the drop zone if they win. Therd are now

just ten games left to stay in the top flight. The games are bdcoming

bigger. Particularly the gales against the teams that are `round

where we are in the league. But we know that. And this is the time of

the season where, you know, you are looking at the quality you've got.

You're looking at the character and resolution you have in the team And

these are vital games and it's a vital part of the season.

In the Championship, Ipswich travel to Middlesborough. The Blues still

have play`off ambitions and could leapfrog Reading and Brighton with a

win today. In League One, important cl`shes at

the top and bottom. And in League Two, Southend will

keep their play`off spot with victory at Morecambe. Strugglers

Northampton are on the road at Scunthorpe.

Corby hurdler William Sharm`n is through to Sunday's semifin`l in the

60 meters hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Poland.

Elsewhere, St Neots high julper Robbie Grabarz failed to qu`lify for

the final. Now for the weather. It's been a rather cloudy morning

for most of us. But we've got some drier air pushing up from the south.

This does mean that the clotd is going to disperse and we will see

lovely long spells of sunshhne just about everywhere for the rest of the

day. A fairly noticeable sottherly to southeasterly breeze. Th`t will

make the coast slightly cooler than inland. We could see temper`tures

perhaps 14, 15 Celsius, even 16 possible. And tomorrow is going to

be even better. A clear and dry night to come. Tomorrow, drx and

sunny. We could be looking `t temperatures perhaps as high as 17,

18 Celsius and staying dry with some sunshine into next week.

but was never going to be wall-to-wall across the whole

country. We started with a lot of mist and murk and cloud but you can

see how, to the south, sunshine has been breaking through. More cloud

further north and a weather front still producing some rain across the

northern and western isles with some strong wind across parts of

Scotland. A breezy afternoon for the rugby in Murrayfield but it should

be dry if a little overcast. Drive in Northern Ireland through the

afternoon. Some brighter spells started to develop across northern

England but it's always further south where we got the best of

sunshine. A bit breezy but 15 or 16 degrees in brighter spells, though

cooler for the south coast with the wind coming straight in the English

novel stop to the south-east, it stays dry through the night with

clearer skies, but further north we keep the speed of cloud with patchy

rain through Northern Ireland and Scotland. Not a cold night. We start
