very much. That's all from the BBC News at Six. Goodbye from me.

:00:00.:00:00.

It is another challenge. We are very much in demand and I know the force

:00:00.:00:24.

will excel at operations. The trawlermen prevented

:00:25.:00:27.

from fishing on the site For decades, the fishing industry

:00:28.:00:37.

has done deals of lots of dhfferent companies but we have never come

:00:38.:00:38.

across anything like this. The scientists who develop

:00:39.:00:42.

our medicines. It's a huge business in the East

:00:43.:00:43.

already And find out which local vineyard

:00:44.:00:54.

has won seven awards for thdse bottles of wine.

:00:55.:01:00.

First tonight, a new mission in the Middle East for RAF jets

:01:01.:01:03.

As we've heard, this time it's humanitarian.

:01:04.:01:08.

The Tornado bombers will be used to make sure life`saving supplies

:01:09.:01:12.

Three Tornadoes took off from Marham this afternoon to travel thd 2, 00

:01:13.:01:18.

But rather than bombs and mhssiles, the planes will be used to patrol

:01:19.:01:25.

Their job ` to direct RAF transport planes dropping supplies to refugees

:01:26.:01:31.

stranded without food and water because of attacks

:01:32.:01:35.

from the Sunni Muslim fightdrs known as the Islamic State.

:01:36.:01:39.

Let's go live to RAF Marham now and our chief reporter Kim Riley.

:01:40.:01:50.

There has been a lot of acthvity here today preparing for thhs new

:01:51.:01:56.

mission. Not a combat mission, as you have said, but reconnaissance

:01:57.:02:04.

the order of the day. The cruise carried out operations very

:02:05.:02:06.

successfully during the floods earlier in the year. The ch`llenge

:02:07.:02:11.

now is getting the most det`iled aerial images of exactly wh`t is

:02:12.:02:18.

going on in Northern Iraq. The crews about to embark on their latest

:02:19.:02:24.

challenge. The aircraft being prepared for a journey south to

:02:25.:02:28.

Cyprus. It is already home base to RAF transport planes delivering aid

:02:29.:02:31.

to stranded refugees in the mountains of Iraq. A combat role has

:02:32.:02:38.

been ruled out for now. This deployment is all about its

:02:39.:02:43.

surveillance strength. This is the key piece of equipment, the port

:02:44.:02:46.

beneath the plane that cont`ins the imaging equipment that can give the

:02:47.:02:50.

most detailed images of what is going on thousands of feet below.

:02:51.:02:58.

This flight lieutenant, 29, will be operating the system. Effort in the

:02:59.:03:07.

back of the but for Natal. Ht has got an image function and TV

:03:08.:03:09.

function that I can manipul`te to get the best picture that wd can. ``

:03:10.:03:16.

I sit in the back`seat of the Natal. This makes up the majority of what

:03:17.:03:20.

we do. It is something we practice a lot and it is good to do solething

:03:21.:03:26.

and help the humanitarian effort. Are you proud? Very much so. The

:03:27.:03:33.

Tornadoes are set to fly to Afghanistan for their final

:03:34.:03:37.

employment. This puts them `t the centre of the International air

:03:38.:03:41.

effort. It is amazing that reconnaissance is one of thd core

:03:42.:03:47.

roles. We deployed overseas. We have used them in Afghanistan, Iraq in

:03:48.:03:52.

the past and the UK floods darlier on in the year. It is a rold that

:03:53.:03:56.

oral aircrew undertake and do so very well. `` all the aircrdw. Just

:03:57.:04:07.

after 2pm, the first planes took off. More are expected to follow

:04:08.:04:16.

over the next few days. We know that the US has been carrying out air

:04:17.:04:20.

strikes against ISA spiders. At the moment, the Government is rtling out

:04:21.:04:29.

a combat role for these scrdws. `` against rebel fighters. There are

:04:30.:04:33.

growing calls for a automathc response from ours to a hum`n

:04:34.:04:38.

catastrophe. I guess that rtling, that advice, good change.

:04:39.:04:40.

Our defence reporter Alex Dunlop is with me now.

:04:41.:04:48.

We heard of the jets are already gone. More follow?

:04:49.:04:53.

Since the news broke last nhght that within 48 hours they would be

:04:54.:05:00.

deployed, they have gone. Wd do not expect a full squad but 6`8. They

:05:01.:05:06.

will be picked from two Squ`dron and 31 Squadron, and 31 Squadron are to

:05:07.:05:12.

deploy to Afghanistan next lonth so the pilots and engineers expected to

:05:13.:05:17.

be in Afghanistan will be in Iraq by the end of the week.

:05:18.:05:21.

This seems to be moving verx fast. I do not think we should be

:05:22.:05:26.

surprised. This plight has been countered down in hours and the need

:05:27.:05:29.

to get aid to them is paramount Secondly, the Tornado is thd most

:05:30.:05:35.

obvious one to use. It would have been at the forefront of military

:05:36.:05:41.

planners' minds right from the outset. They have carried ott

:05:42.:05:46.

surveillance work very effectively in the past. For the moment, I am

:05:47.:05:51.

being told that they are not in a combat role but I will be strprised

:05:52.:05:55.

if they do not have some form of weaponry on board, purely for self

:05:56.:05:59.

defence. We filmed this prodigious couple of years ago in southern

:06:00.:06:03.

Afghanistan. This is a torn`do releasing flares in case of military

:06:04.:06:08.

attack. We should point out that these guys over northern Ir`q are

:06:09.:06:13.

far more dangerous than in suffering Afghanistan because the fighters on

:06:14.:06:15.

the ground are heavily armed. There is a good reason why commercial

:06:16.:06:21.

airliners are not flying ovdr Iraqi air space right now.

:06:22.:06:24.

Fishermen say they're furiots at a High Court injunction which stops

:06:25.:06:27.

them fishing on the site of a huge wind farm off the coast of Norfolk.

:06:28.:06:31.

Dong Energy is building the Race Bank windfarm near Blakeney

:06:32.:06:33.

Point and will start a survdy of the sea bed within the next few days.

:06:34.:06:37.

It has offered the fishermen compensation but they say they

:06:38.:06:39.

This crew are preparing to put it to sea. One place they will not be

:06:40.:06:53.

heading is a bank 17 miles of shore. An energy company wants to survey

:06:54.:06:59.

the area. Say were offered ?175 per port their day to both the rich

:07:00.:07:03.

fishing grounds. This figurd was later upped to ?220. When the offer

:07:04.:07:08.

was rejected, the company wddded to a High Court. It was granted an

:07:09.:07:11.

injunction banning fishing hn the area. It would not even put the fuel

:07:12.:07:17.

in the tanks of this board. That is the reality. You cannot takd a boat

:07:18.:07:23.

out like this with three men and share ?175. He would not evdn get it

:07:24.:07:27.

to the fishing grounds. For that reason, we could not take that. The

:07:28.:07:35.

National Federation Of Fish Friers Organisations described the

:07:36.:07:40.

company's actions as regrettable. It added, "fishermen have the right to

:07:41.:07:45.

fish on their customary grotnds and that this was akin to using a

:07:46.:07:49.

sledgehammer to crack a nut. It is unbelievable. For decades, the

:07:50.:07:57.

industry has done deals with various different companies but havd never

:07:58.:08:00.

come across anything like this. This is unheard of. Be fishermen still

:08:01.:08:05.

want to negotiate with the company to reach a settlement but if a deal

:08:06.:08:10.

cannot be struck, DC this dhspute could end up back in court. `` this

:08:11.:08:14.

dispute. Benj Sykes is the UK Countrx Manager

:08:15.:08:16.

for Wind Power at Dong. When I spoke to him late thhs

:08:17.:08:19.

afternoon, he told me he sthll hopes We have been talking to fishermen

:08:20.:08:32.

since April and have had a number of sessions, individually and `s a

:08:33.:08:37.

group, and have done a lot to try to reach settlement. It is worth

:08:38.:08:42.

pointing out that this is the first time that any wind developer of

:08:43.:08:45.

shore has had to take this course of action. Previously we have found

:08:46.:08:50.

ways of solving this problel through discussion and negotiation with the

:08:51.:08:53.

fishing community. We very luch believe that we can still do that

:08:54.:08:58.

for this wind farm. What thhs injunction will enable us to do is

:08:59.:09:01.

proceed with the survey whilst we continue these discussions. Are you

:09:02.:09:08.

prepared to up your offer of ?2 0? I cannot discuss the details of a

:09:09.:09:12.

negotiation as that would not be helpful for either party. Otr aim is

:09:13.:09:15.

to continue to engage with them and find the package that will deliver a

:09:16.:09:22.

solution for all parties. You will understand that the fishermdn say

:09:23.:09:25.

that on good days, and this time of year provides, they can earn 20 and

:09:26.:09:34.

`` ?2500. ?220 does not seel a fair offer. We have been hoping to get

:09:35.:09:39.

catch data which we can use to develop a fair compensation package

:09:40.:09:42.

but we have not been able to get hold of that from the majorhty of

:09:43.:09:48.

fishermen so are working with more generic catch data and on the basis

:09:49.:09:51.

of that and the information we have been able to get hold of yotr bid

:09:52.:09:54.

together a compensation package which includes a significant

:09:55.:10:02.

inconvenience package on top of that for lost catch and replacing Jim. We

:10:03.:10:07.

believe the offer is very poor. If you get good catch data frol them

:10:08.:10:13.

which indicates that the ?220 is lower than you would have

:10:14.:10:16.

anticipated then you will up the offer? `` the offer is very good. We

:10:17.:10:23.

will be able to develop a p`ckage that reflects the lost catch. And if

:10:24.:10:28.

a fishing boat goes into th`t area after this weekend you will do what?

:10:29.:10:33.

The fishing gear needs to bd removed and there must not be any

:10:34.:10:36.

impediments to the survey. We have no reason to think anything else

:10:37.:10:37.

will happen. Colchester Borough Council has been

:10:38.:10:41.

asked to check trees near footpaths after a cyclist was badly injured

:10:42.:10:44.

when a branch fell onto him. Firefighters used specialist cutting

:10:45.:10:47.

equipment to release the man after the accident near

:10:48.:10:49.

Cowdray Avenue last night. After the Second World War

:10:50.:10:52.

we needed a lot of houses very quickly so thousands

:10:53.:10:54.

of pre`fabricted homes were built. Today in Norfolk we had a glimpse

:10:55.:10:57.

of the 21st century version. They're called modular homes

:10:58.:11:01.

and they're ready in four wdeks They arrived on the back of a lorry.

:11:02.:11:17.

With the help of several hand signals, it took just one hour to

:11:18.:11:22.

move in place. It will be two weeks before somebody can move in. Each

:11:23.:11:25.

housing development as to include affordable homes. This is sden as a

:11:26.:11:30.

different way of providing them To the head of the curve in terms of

:11:31.:11:36.

the delivery method. We build them for a fraction of the cost because

:11:37.:11:41.

of the amount of time that ht takes. One week ago this was grass.

:11:42.:11:45.

They have dubbed the foundations and put the oversight in. This hs not

:11:46.:11:51.

the first time Matthew Newbdrry has helped people with their holes. I

:11:52.:11:57.

have got another cheque for ?30 000 to go towards the conversion. After

:11:58.:12:01.

a car accident, he was the first in Britain to be fitted with a bionic

:12:02.:12:07.

leg, became one of the UK's youngest millionaires and appeared on Channel

:12:08.:12:14.

4, transforming this house. The BBC's Inside Out programme `lso

:12:15.:12:20.

filmed him adapting this girl's home after she lost her legs through

:12:21.:12:27.

meningitis. His latest homes can be adjusted for those with dis`bilities

:12:28.:12:31.

and arrived wired, decorated and fitted with kitchens and bathrooms.

:12:32.:12:37.

On the open market, it costs ?220,000. The traditional home next

:12:38.:12:41.

door is nearly three times that price. Eventually this will be

:12:42.:12:45.

ripped up and will have a thled roof. At the end of the day, it will

:12:46.:12:49.

look like every other house. It is hoped that it will bridge the gap

:12:50.:12:55.

between the 25,000 homes nedded to be built in this region every year.

:12:56.:12:59.

As soon as we have got new properties, they are being snapped

:13:00.:13:04.

up. Matthew is already lookhng to provide more affordable homds across

:13:05.:13:05.

the UK. Also coming up:

:13:06.:13:21.

We are at Stadium MK where the new dawns played the old Dons in the

:13:22.:13:24.

capital cup. And beating the UK's best. @ seven

:13:25.:13:29.

medal haul for a vineyard from temperature. `` Cambridgeshhre.

:13:30.:13:37.

It's an industry which employs 15,000 people

:13:38.:13:40.

in this region in 750 companies and does some of the most important work

:13:41.:13:44.

We're talking about life schences, which is all

:13:45.:13:47.

about turning cutting`edge scientific research into medicines.

:13:48.:13:49.

In this region, it's based mainly around Calbridge.

:13:50.:13:55.

It's worth up to ?10 billion a year to the local economy and

:13:56.:13:58.

Look East has been told it could become five times bigger.

:13:59.:14:00.

In the first of three speci`l reports this week, here's otr

:14:01.:14:03.

This research campus is homd to many biomedical companies and is one

:14:04.:14:09.

of the jewels in the crown of the life sciences cluster that

:14:10.:14:13.

has grown up around Cambridge over the last 30 years.

:14:14.:14:17.

The Government has put in ?50 million over three ydars

:14:18.:14:22.

Doctor Andy Richards is a dhrector here.

:14:23.:14:28.

He was one of a handful of young entrepreneurs who got

:14:29.:14:30.

I had been working in West Coast biotech companies and I

:14:31.:14:37.

love the band of brothers, us against the world, let's change

:14:38.:14:41.

And then the opportunity cale to do it here

:14:42.:14:46.

and to do a start`up and I guess, in a sense, the rest is history

:14:47.:14:52.

That start`up became a big success and the clustdr grew

:14:53.:14:57.

The question is why did it keep growing herd?

:14:58.:15:02.

I guess that is about the ctlture, environment and world`class science.

:15:03.:15:07.

One of the things that is great to see is how people who have succeeded

:15:08.:15:12.

have decided not to go away and do something else but to stay

:15:13.:15:16.

here and do their second, third fourth, fifth companies

:15:17.:15:19.

People like Andy found ways to turn scientific research

:15:20.:15:27.

Today, at least one third of life sciences organisations in

:15:28.:15:33.

That is 750 companies employing 15,000 people.

:15:34.:15:40.

And there are several research sites spread across the reghon.

:15:41.:15:52.

They employ thousands of schentists doing cutting`edge research.

:15:53.:15:56.

The main areas of expertise include...

:15:57.:16:05.

What it is all about in the end is finding better

:16:06.:16:08.

One of the 50 start`ups is this company using

:16:09.:16:14.

an antibody discovered in C`mbridge to develop a drug to prevent

:16:15.:16:17.

The need for anticoagulation is growhng all

:16:18.:16:22.

Our drug is an antibody which we seek to ultimately replace

:16:23.:16:31.

warfarin in clinical practice, if it works the way we hope it will.

:16:32.:16:35.

How big it could this cluster become?

:16:36.:16:39.

I think it could become thrde, four, five times the size it is now

:16:40.:16:43.

Certainly the opportunity market`wise is there.

:16:44.:16:50.

That kind of expansion would mean tens of thousands of new jobs.

:16:51.:16:56.

Whether growth of that scald could be accommodated

:16:57.:16:59.

Harriet Fear is the chief executive of One Nucleus, which represents

:17:00.:17:08.

I asked her whether it's possible that the industry

:17:09.:17:13.

I think it is a realistic ahm, to be honest. If you look at what has

:17:14.:17:29.

happened in the sector and region in the last 18 months, we have seen a

:17:30.:17:35.

real explosion in life sciences with companies listing on the public

:17:36.:17:38.

markets and following the claims from the US. On the face of it,

:17:39.:17:43.

growth is exciting and potentially good for jobs but do you thhnk we

:17:44.:17:48.

can cope with that kind of expansion? I am thinking about

:17:49.:17:54.

housing and infrastructure. If you look at the moves by AstraZdneca to

:17:55.:17:59.

move its global headquarters here, which will happen by 2017, there are

:18:00.:18:06.

already concerns about houshng and accommodating 1500 people so it is a

:18:07.:18:10.

big issue. That said, I think we have got the right people in place

:18:11.:18:14.

in certain councils and loc`l enterprise partnerships and within

:18:15.:18:18.

the sector who can help makd it happen. What about staffing? That is

:18:19.:18:23.

something the industry is already struggling with, trying to find

:18:24.:18:28.

enough skilled, qualified pdople. That is true. What we find with a

:18:29.:18:33.

lot of our members is that they employ individuals from the UK but

:18:34.:18:37.

also internationally. There are some real benefits of bringing in

:18:38.:18:40.

international talent. I see more of that happening to fill potential

:18:41.:18:45.

gaps. Surely won't run talent would be even better. `` home grown

:18:46.:18:51.

talent. Absolutely and various colleges in the area are dohng good

:18:52.:18:59.

things. Europe organisation represents hundreds of diffdrent

:19:00.:19:03.

companies. I am wondering if you could sum up the mood in those

:19:04.:19:06.

companies at the moment. Is that excitement? It is difficult to

:19:07.:19:14.

generalise but generally spdaking huge excitement, particularly the

:19:15.:19:17.

AstraZeneca news. Companies are thinking it might be time to think

:19:18.:19:25.

much better and I sends a bhgger appetite to remain a UK company

:19:26.:19:30.

rather than seeking to exit by merger with another company. Thank

:19:31.:19:32.

you very much. There is a full night of football

:19:33.:19:35.

in the Capital Cup tonight. Perhaps the pick of the bunch is

:19:36.:19:38.

at Stadium MK, where the MK Dons That's

:19:39.:19:43.

the club that was formed after the old Wimbledon moved from London to

:19:44.:19:45.

Milton Keynes and became thd Dons. James Burridge is at Stadiul MK

:19:46.:19:48.

and has just sent this report. It is not everyday you get to inside

:19:49.:20:02.

a changing before kick`off. This is the home changing room. MK Dons are

:20:03.:20:07.

taking on AFC Wimbledon tonhght and all of the kit is in place. The

:20:08.:20:12.

boots is always a fascinating part of the modern game. Some of them

:20:13.:20:19.

have shocking colours! 20 of pitches taken place in their capital one cup

:20:20.:20:27.

tonight. Let's speak with one of the coaches here at MK Dons. As any team

:20:28.:20:32.

to be in here. What is the atmosphere like before kick`off

:20:33.:20:37.

Pretty relaxed. Once we havd given them the information about one hour

:20:38.:20:40.

before kick`off we leave thdm to it and let them prepare in thehr own

:20:41.:20:45.

way. There is a science to ht. You can see food supplements, t`ctics

:20:46.:20:50.

boards, it is a different g`me than two years ago. Haters. The players

:20:51.:20:54.

have got to be bitter about taking information on board. All of the

:20:55.:20:59.

preparation has already been done. The sports science lab have done

:21:00.:21:02.

their work and the analysis has been done so there is nothing we can

:21:03.:21:06.

change one hour before. Tell me about tonight. There is alw`ys a bit

:21:07.:21:11.

of tension when you take into account the history between these

:21:12.:21:15.

sides. How do the staff tre`t a game like tonight? The same like any

:21:16.:21:19.

other. It sounds like a cliche but it is the first round of thd cup and

:21:20.:21:22.

we are looking forward to gdtting into the second round if we win the

:21:23.:21:28.

game. Everybody is aware of what the history is but... Do you fedl the

:21:29.:21:31.

tension from the crowd? I think there will be some but we h`ve got

:21:32.:21:35.

to go out and win the game. It is important that we do it for the

:21:36.:21:38.

right reasons and the rest of it will take care of itself. Ldts hope

:21:39.:21:43.

he win tonight and all of these games kicking off at 7:45pm.

:21:44.:21:47.

At the European Athletics Championships Goldie Sayers

:21:48.:21:48.

from Cambridgeshire has qualified for the Javelin final.

:21:49.:21:50.

She did it with her first throw of just over 58 metres.

:21:51.:21:53.

Goldie is captain of the Brhtish team in Zurich.

:21:54.:21:55.

The final takes place on Thtrsday evening.

:21:56.:22:00.

The days when English wine was thought of as a bit of a joke

:22:01.:22:04.

These days, the experts will swill it, sniff it, suck over it, spit it

:22:05.:22:11.

out and then agree it's right up there with the best in the world.

:22:12.:22:16.

Chilford Hall Vineyard in Cambridgeshire is one

:22:17.:22:19.

And what's more, it's just won seven medals at the English and Wdlsh Wine

:22:20.:22:24.

With 7000 vines and nine different varieties of great, this is one of

:22:25.:22:38.

the oldest vineyards in the country, producing thousands of

:22:39.:22:42.

bottles of wine each year and now some of those have won a medal.

:22:43.:22:46.

These are the award`winning wines. Seven in total. These three got

:22:47.:22:52.

silver and these four got bronze. They won the award at a top national

:22:53.:22:56.

competition. It puts their linds up there with some of the best in the

:22:57.:23:05.

world. Of the award`winning wines, five are white. We had a sp`rkling

:23:06.:23:11.

ros? and also a read. It tells the public that the product we `re

:23:12.:23:15.

reducing is as good as what the big boys are making. We are a rdlatively

:23:16.:23:20.

small vineyard in that sensd but we are able to sit on the same platform

:23:21.:23:24.

as them. It was a good year last year and with what we do, they are

:23:25.:23:30.

looking forward to a bumper harvest. It means that we have a larger crop

:23:31.:23:35.

than last year. Last year, we brought in about 30 tonnes `nd

:23:36.:23:44.

produced 20,000 bottles. Thhs year, we estimate more bottles and looking

:23:45.:23:47.

at the level of sunshine is means better quality. But even with all

:23:48.:23:52.

this good news, there are still having to rebuild the busindss after

:23:53.:23:56.

an arson attack by former mdmbers of staff two years ago which rdduced

:23:57.:24:02.

their historic buildings to rubble. Now, they are looking to rehnstate

:24:03.:24:08.

the old site, and events venue as well as making good wine.

:24:09.:24:16.

We had some pictures of thehr sparkling wine are there and it

:24:17.:24:19.

looked wonderful. I am not for the! `` I am not

:24:20.:24:25.

fussy! We have got low pressure to the

:24:26.:24:42.

north and that has brought hn some showers from the West and over the

:24:43.:24:47.

last few hours there have bden one or two sharp ones around. They have

:24:48.:24:50.

been spreading in across thd western half of the region, hitting

:24:51.:24:54.

gradually eastward. We are not quite done with them, still a few around.

:24:55.:24:59.

A lot of places of see a drx evening. `` will see. Much of the

:25:00.:25:06.

night looks dry as they fadd, there will be clear spells around. A

:25:07.:25:09.

little bit of patchy cloud coming and going and quite a for tonight.

:25:10.:25:20.

`` quite a cool night. Tomorrow there is a pretty good start today.

:25:21.:25:25.

This low pressure is still lingering to North but it will be a bright

:25:26.:25:29.

start with some sunshine at their first then. There is the risk of

:25:30.:25:33.

some showers but they should be lighter. We start with some

:25:34.:25:37.

sunshine. There will be somd clouds building for the afternoon `nd some

:25:38.:25:41.

might just produce an isolated shower. Not where the computer

:25:42.:25:46.

project but anywhere across the region. In the sunshine, and

:25:47.:25:55.

temperatures climb in most places. That breeze will make it fedl cooler

:25:56.:25:58.

at times in the breeze. As for the afternoon, mostly dry for m`ny

:25:59.:26:03.

places but the risk of a few showers around. As we get to the end of the

:26:04.:26:07.

week, Thursday is looking a bit unsettled but as we get to Friday,

:26:08.:26:13.

you can see a front are starting to build from the south`west so it will

:26:14.:26:19.

be a transient pressure and you can see our next weather systems coming

:26:20.:26:22.

in. Some dry weather for thd end of the week and the start of the

:26:23.:26:26.

weekend. Before that we havd Thursday, which looks like ht will

:26:27.:26:29.

bring us some more widespre`d showers. They could be heavx and

:26:30.:26:35.

sundry and with light winds could be slow`moving and that could bring

:26:36.:26:38.

quite a downpour in places. As for Friday, it might start out with a

:26:39.:26:44.

shower but through the day, as that pressure builds, we should see more

:26:45.:26:48.

dry weather across the region and a dry night following. We start our

:26:49.:26:52.

weekend with quite a lot of dry weather arrives. Saturday is looking

:26:53.:26:57.

pretty good. Highs of 19 degrees. Those weather systems coming in for

:26:58.:27:00.

the end of the weekend and starting next week so it will turn unsettled

:27:01.:27:04.

once more. Thank you very much.

:27:05.:27:10.

We will see you tomorrow night. Have a good evening.
