First tonight, the investigation into the looting

of historic, and potentiallx deadly, wartime armaments.

Police say they've uncovered a cache of munitions at a house

It's the third raid of its kind in the last few days.

Police and explosive experts have spent much of the weekend at this

semidetached house in Newport Dagnall. Munitions from the first

and 2nd World War as have bden found here. Some have already been taken

away and destroyed. Police have confirmed that this rate was linked

to the discovery in the subtrban garage in Hertfordshire of `n

arsenal of historic weapons and musicians. The following dax, Thames

Valley Police discovered more munitions at a house. Pleasd think

the items might have been looted from historic sites with thd help of

metal detectors. English Heritage are working with the police and said

that most metal detect tours are very good. We are dealing whth a

very small minority, who take property without permission. It may

have a safety element to it, the stuff they are taking. In Ndwport

Pagnell, officers are trying to be deciding what kind of items they are

dealing with. A man has been released on police bail.
