Good evening. Let's start with that Prince William

story. He's coming to Cambridge University in the New Year to study

farm management. The Duke of Cambridge, who spent Christmas at

Sandringham in Norfolk, will begin his studies early next month. It's

believed the 10`week course will help him prepare for the day when he

inherits the Duchy of Cornwall estate. The course will run until

mid March, with around 20 seminars a week. It will educate the Duke on

issues facing rural communities. We've seen that Prince taking a lot

more of the Queen's duties. We will see Prince William take on more of

Prince Charles duties as well. Ban Prince William last visited his

namesake city in 2012. There he paid tribute to the University's role in

making the city famous. Print William graduated from Cambridge

five years ago. He is expected to live in Cambridge part`time. He and

Kate will also spend time at their country home in Norfolk.

Army bomb disposal experts were sent to Suffolk today after reports that

an old wartime shell had been uncovered on a beach. The emergency

services were called to Walberswick. The Coastguard service believes the

shell was washed onto the beach in rough seas, but had disappeared by

the time the army arrived. The police in Suffolk have made a

new appeal for information after a man was shot in the leg at the

weekend. The shooting happened near Cordy's Lane in Trimley, St Mary, on

Saturday afternoon. The victim has now been released from hospital and

returned to his home in London. Staff at the City Hospital in

Peterborough are putting on so`called "fat suits" to help them

deal with bigger patients. Figures from the NHS show the number of

obese people in the UK has almost doubled over the last 20 years. The

hospital wants staff to understand what patients have to go through.

Got our patient here. Found from her notes she's got limited mobility.

It weighs just six kilos, but has transformed Julie into a 40`stone

patient. This is the first time I've actually

been in it, horizontal and laying flat, and found it quite

uncomfortable to be flat on my back. I find it difficult to breathe as it

restricts my airways. 1000 people are being trained here

with the special obesity, or bariatric suit.

As time goes on, we are noticing an increase of bariatric patients

coming into the trust, so having staff prepared and preprepared with

the knowledge of dealing with a bariatric patient ` it's not

different techniques, it's techniques we already use, but in a

different format. Are you OK? I'm fine.

The largest patient they have treated here was 55 stone, but now

most of its morbidly obese patients tip the scales at between 35 and 45

stone. Some of those patients actually lead

a very restrictive life at home, so there could be an embarrassment

element. We have to make sure we have got the right tact to take with

that patient, the right manner, and actually make that patient feel

supported in a way that is appropriate for their care on that

particular day. The suit was bought for ?1000 by a

hospital charity. Its value is immeasurable.

Looking at the dignity of the patient, we notice staff are

thinking slightly differently as well, taking the patient's dignity

into consideration. It can limit injuries to staff

lifting patients, and helps them understand the changing population.

BBC Look East. In football, Ipswich Town go into

the New Year in the play`off places in the Championship after their 1`1

draw at Bournemouth yesterday. But in the Premier League, Norwich City

are looking for their first win of the Christmas period after two

defeats in a row. What a difference a year makes. At

the start of 2013, Ipswich Town were in the bottom six of the

Championship. At year's end, they've made it to the top six, the

play`offs. They did it with a 1`1 draw at Bournemouth, with a goal

from Daryl Murphy. It caps a great run for Ipswich, unbeaten in seven

games. They haven't lost away since September.

If you don't get beaten too often, you've got to be doing OK. We did

have a spell where we were picking up draws. But I think a draw away

from home... Bournemouth are a good side, they've got some good

footballers, and I think it's a pleasing point.

Halfway through the season, Norwich City are three points clear of the

Premier League relegation zone. But for the fans, it still doesn't feel

comfortable. Christmas cheer has been sorely lacking at Carrow Road

with two home defeats. Yesterday, they took the game to Manchester

United, but the game just didn't go their way.

We didn't have a very good Christmas at all last season. So, in the

scheme of things, what you want to do is win these games because it

takes you into the New Year on a bit of a high. But it is about the games

over the season. Norwich need to put the Man United

defeat behind them when they play Crystal Palace tomorrow. Palace are

just three points behind them, just above the relegation zone. It's a

game Norwich have to win to survive. BBC Look East.

Boat owners are being warned NOT to use the region's swollen rivers.

Strong currents are making the fast`moving water treacherous.

There's a flood alert on the River Great Ouse in Cambridgeshire, and

with more rain predicted in the next few days, the Environment Agency is

advising people to stay away. At Holywell near St Ives this morning,

one boat was beached by the rising water.

It is very bad weather at the moment, but we're expecting about

5mm of rainfall across Cambridgeshire and the wider

catchments. We may well need to issue some flood alerts in the

coming days and over the New Year, but we are very unlikely to be

issuing any flood warnings. Time for the weather.

More wet and windy weather across the region. If you turn to the west,

there is a big row coming in for tomorrow. Behind that one, yet

another one. That has a site set for New Year's Day. Full the time being,

things are getting quieter. Quite chilly over the next few hours.

Getting down to three or four degrees. After midnight, the breeze

pushes back in. The breeze will pick up and some rain coming in towards

the end of the night. But most northern areas will stay dry. The

breeze will pick up. Temperatures rising by the end of tonight, sofa

tomorrow, clouds and outbreaks of rain. Not raining the whole time.

There will be a band of heavy rain working its way east. It will be

quite a windy day, especially without rain. Quite mild, though. 10

degrees. Through the evening, New Year's Eve, celebrations outside, a

lot of clear sky actually. As you go towards the evening, more cloud from

the West. Perhaps bringing more showers. Generally, the further is

due out, the drier it tends to be. Temperatures at midnight about five

or six degrees. Winds about 25 mph. The first day of 2014 starts drier,

but some rain through the afternoon. Hopefully, clearing

overnight, so by Thursday looking a bit brighter.

are quiet at the moment. The rain has cleared off and the wind is

lighter. There might be some ice in Scotland, but through the night, the

wind picks up, lifting temperatures, but more heavy rain pushing in. The

rain band is not quite a significant us today, but it will leave surface

water flooding. Some heavy bursts clearing Northern Ireland by first

light. It reaches the east coast by the time we get to lunchtime, after

a few morning showers. The wind is falling lighter, easing down from
