Hello and welcome. The headlines: Emergency, surgical and end of life | :00:00. | :00:14.
care branded inadequate as `nother of us -- hospitals goes into special | :00:15. | :00:20.
measures. We need at least 60 extra beds in hospital. We need Hdalth and | :00:21. | :00:24.
Social Care Act beds in the community, we need access to end of | :00:25. | :00:30.
life facilities outside. Whhte central government is forcing | :00:31. | :00:34.
building on local councils. Is science flourishing at cost of art? | :00:35. | :00:51.
We join gymnast Louis Smith on a trip to a mosque. | :00:52. | :00:56.
Health inspectors say some parts of the Princess Alexandra Hospital | :00:57. | :00:58.
in Harlow aren't safe and need urgent improvement. | :00:59. | :01:01.
The Care Quality Commission was scathing in a number | :01:02. | :01:05.
of areas including A, ambulance handovers | :01:06. | :01:07.
It's the second hospital to be put into special measures in our region. | :01:08. | :01:12.
A year ago Addenbrookes was found to be inadequate. | :01:13. | :01:15.
In moment the deputy chief dxecutive but first here's our health | :01:16. | :01:18.
Joe Durant's father is 96 and has dementia. He was admitted to the | :01:19. | :01:36.
Princess Alexandra Hospital in February and she describes the lack | :01:37. | :01:41.
of care her father received as frightening. Attention to the timing | :01:42. | :01:45.
of antibiotics, making sure there was constant fluids in the cannula. | :01:46. | :01:54.
We didn't get that with dad. He rapidly went downhill. This is a | :01:55. | :02:00.
hospital that has been branded unsafe in A, critical and end of | :02:01. | :02:05.
life care and Mrs White. Levels of nurse staffing in a recession - | :02:06. | :02:10.
resuscitation room unsafe. Recruitment in Harlow is a big | :02:11. | :02:15.
problem because staff get p`id more in London. 14 ambulances qudued to | :02:16. | :02:19.
transfer patients and hospitals fail to manage the situation. Whx? | :02:20. | :02:28.
Capacity. A fills up becatse frail passengers in wards Cobbe moved on. | :02:29. | :02:32.
One patient was in the hosphtal for a year despite being fit to leave. | :02:33. | :02:36.
The mortuary was using a tr`iler type unit to store an addithonal 20 | :02:37. | :02:42.
bodies. This was parked outside in a loading bay. The reason. Capacity | :02:43. | :02:49.
and ageing equipment. There were positives. Staff were caring, the | :02:50. | :02:54.
maternity unit was rated outstanding. Cancer targets were met | :02:55. | :02:58.
and one MP thinks the hospital is being sold short. It is incredible | :02:59. | :03:06.
giving it is an aged building. Accident and emergency is hhghest | :03:07. | :03:10.
per head than anywhere in the country. It is incredible that the | :03:11. | :03:15.
vast majority of residents get an excellent service from the staff. No | :03:16. | :03:18.
one is denying the Chief Exdcutive has a challenge on his hands and | :03:19. | :03:22.
Phil Morley is already under scrutiny by the NHS about | :03:23. | :03:26.
allegations surrounding expdnses claims while in charge of another | :03:27. | :03:31.
hospital in whole. The NHS hs in a terrible state. We need good | :03:32. | :03:37.
managers and we have ended tp in the same situation now that we had a | :03:38. | :03:41.
couple of years ago in hole, macro. In special measures, the hospital | :03:42. | :03:47.
will get more funding and they will be watching for improvements | :03:48. | :03:48.
closely. So what are the hospital | :03:49. | :03:50.
doing about it? I put that question | :03:51. | :03:52.
to Nancy Fontaine the hospital's I think the thing to say | :03:53. | :03:55.
is that the inspection was in in June and as the CPC | :03:56. | :03:59.
would have confirmed, we were straight on some | :04:00. | :04:02.
of the immediate issues and have For us, this is a very | :04:03. | :04:04.
doable transformation because the CQC were clear, | :04:05. | :04:10.
this is not about clinical outcomes This is about processes and it makes | :04:11. | :04:14.
the job much easier to do. In the report there are somd grim | :04:15. | :04:21.
readings from patients The fridges in the mortuary not | :04:22. | :04:24.
being fit for purpose or delays in answering call bells frol some | :04:25. | :04:30.
of the surgical wards. That seems to show disrespect | :04:31. | :04:33.
to the patients in a way. What is your message | :04:34. | :04:38.
to them tonight? Certainly the mortuary environment | :04:39. | :04:39.
needed refurbishment but we were quite clear we did not | :04:40. | :04:44.
have last year the capital There was never any risk to any | :04:45. | :04:47.
of our diseased patients. The temperature recordings | :04:48. | :04:52.
were all within limits and the refurbishment has already | :04:53. | :04:56.
been completed and a final inspection will take | :04:57. | :05:00.
place in December. The call bell issue is a direct part | :05:01. | :05:06.
of the staffing issues which we worked hard to makd sure | :05:07. | :05:09.
we have enough staff on the wards to answer the call bells quhckly, | :05:10. | :05:12.
particularly That has demonstrated | :05:13. | :05:15.
an improvement since June. What will you do as a leadership | :05:16. | :05:24.
role to make things better? My job is to drive those | :05:25. | :05:29.
improvements and I think with extra financial support, | :05:30. | :05:32.
extra support for the buildhngs that we need and are badly hn need | :05:33. | :05:37.
of repair that people have known The support from our stakeholders | :05:38. | :05:41.
I think the quality and the level of improvement really will be very | :05:42. | :05:46.
clear for the CQC to see next year. Are you hoping everything c`n be | :05:47. | :05:53.
in place by next year? We are but we need some support | :05:54. | :05:59.
from our commissioners and from primary care | :06:00. | :06:03.
because there is more that we need. We need at least 60 extra bdds | :06:04. | :06:08.
in hospital, we need Health and Social Care beds | :06:09. | :06:11.
in the community, we need access to end | :06:12. | :06:13.
of life facilities outside. It is not all within our bahliwick | :06:14. | :06:20.
but as long as we have the support of the Health and Social Care | :06:21. | :06:23.
and regulators, I do believd we are the right team to le`d this | :06:24. | :06:26.
organisation forward. Police say they're now treating | :06:27. | :06:29.
a case in Luton as a double murder. The body of a man was found | :06:30. | :06:34.
in a bin outside a property It's believed he'd been in the bin | :06:35. | :06:37.
for a number of days. They have now linked it to the death | :06:38. | :06:41.
of a woman in a block of fl`ts A man has been arrested | :06:42. | :06:45.
on suspicion of murder. Councils in our region | :06:46. | :06:51.
are losing control on where new houses are built | :06:52. | :06:53.
and its because they're not passing In Northampton two developmdnts | :06:54. | :06:57.
are going up even though thd local authority didn't want them | :06:58. | :07:01.
after they were overruled The council's meeting tonight to try | :07:02. | :07:03.
and speed up the process. Up to 1,000 homes will be btilt | :07:04. | :07:09.
on this land near Hardingstone. This wasn't an area the loc`l | :07:10. | :07:14.
council wanted to develop so when permission was refused, | :07:15. | :07:19.
the developers appealed and won The local community have cole out | :07:20. | :07:24.
and clearly said that they don't want development on anything | :07:25. | :07:27.
like that scale in that sort of area and we've lost control of the result | :07:28. | :07:30.
which is very sad for the pdople and it doesn't say much | :07:31. | :07:33.
for local democracy either And the reason the developer won | :07:34. | :07:38.
is Northampton doesn't have a full land supply plan | :07:39. | :07:44.
for new housing in place. The developers will be able | :07:45. | :07:47.
to appeal to the government and the presumption will be | :07:48. | :07:52.
that they will get planning permission because we can't show | :07:53. | :07:55.
that five years. It makes us very vulnerable | :07:56. | :07:57.
to houses popping up Northampton has a target to build | :07:58. | :07:59.
over 12,000 new homes It's currently only set | :08:00. | :08:04.
to deliver just over 8,000 which leaves it 4,000 | :08:05. | :08:08.
short plus if you add on wh`t it failed to build in the last five | :08:09. | :08:12.
years, Northampton man has But Northampton is not alond | :08:13. | :08:20.
in missing its targets. There are calls for all councils | :08:21. | :08:24.
to do more. What happens is a lot of local | :08:25. | :08:27.
authorities choose to only `llocate a small number of very | :08:28. | :08:30.
large sites which is good for a long-term delivery of housing | :08:31. | :08:36.
but what we really need is lore smaller sites spread around | :08:37. | :08:41.
so we have got choice, not just for developers, | :08:42. | :08:44.
but choice for the people that Northampton says it is commhtted | :08:45. | :08:46.
to reducing the shortfall and will discuss ways | :08:47. | :08:51.
to do that tonight. If councils continually fail | :08:52. | :08:53.
to deliver enough homes, the government has made it clear it | :08:54. | :08:57.
will intervene and could force Our political reporter Tom Barton | :08:58. | :09:00.
is in Westminster and Tom this problem isn't confined | :09:01. | :09:13.
to Northampton borough In some ways Northampton ard in a | :09:14. | :09:24.
better position because thex are taking action to sort this out. This | :09:25. | :09:29.
boils down to a decision taken by the government in Westminstdr in | :09:30. | :09:32.
2012 when they said that local authorities had to have a plan which | :09:33. | :09:37.
identified enough land to btild enough houses to meet local needs | :09:38. | :09:42.
over a five-year period. If they didn't, they face having thdir | :09:43. | :09:47.
planned decisions overruled. Only five out of our 18 authorithes in | :09:48. | :09:50.
our region have one of thesd local plans that is up-to-date. According | :09:51. | :09:55.
to the planning inspector, some of them including Bedfordshire and | :09:56. | :10:00.
North Hertfordshire haven't submitted one to the governlent to | :10:01. | :10:03.
be considered, let alone have one signed off by ministers and put into | :10:04. | :10:08.
action. Without a local plan, councils run the risk of having | :10:09. | :10:13.
developers building houses without the consent of local people and that | :10:14. | :10:18.
is a risk that many of our councils are currently taking. | :10:19. | :10:20.
And later in the programme we'll take a look at why house prhces | :10:21. | :10:23.
in the East are rising at a faster rate than anywhere else in the UK. | :10:24. | :10:27.
Artists in Cambridge say they are being driven out | :10:28. | :10:29.
of the town due to a lack of studio space. | :10:30. | :10:33.
They say the city is such a hub of science and technology that art | :10:34. | :10:36.
They are urging developers to consider including creathve space | :10:37. | :10:40.

The former psycho geneticist is now an internationally renowned | :10:50. | :10:52.
artist but she's coming to the end of her | :10:53. | :11:06.
artist but she's coming to the end of her five-year studio reshdency | :11:07. | :11:09.
near Cambridge and has no idea what happens next. | :11:10. | :11:11.
Plans C and D are always to go back to Mike Garrard | :11:12. | :11:14.
There's a huge number of artists who are | :11:15. | :11:21.
leaving Cambridge and moving to London and leaving London and | :11:22. | :11:23.
It is a common worry for artists in Cambridge. | :11:24. | :11:30.
Fine arts students often find themselves at a loss. | :11:31. | :11:32.
The students throughout the graduate and | :11:33. | :11:34.
postgraduate courses who have a really nice resotrce | :11:35. | :11:36.
to work in and the question then for them is how do | :11:37. | :11:38.
they carry on with the same level of ambition and commitment thex've been | :11:39. | :11:42.
One of the underlying things is the space they | :11:43. | :11:45.
And Wising Arts Centre just outside Cambridge, the | :11:46. | :11:48.
You've got a one in 100 chance of securing a studio if | :11:49. | :11:52.
Some say art plays second fiddle to Cambridge's | :11:53. | :11:55.
role as the European hub of science and technology but with housing | :11:56. | :11:57.
development on every corner, maybe this is the answer. | :11:58. | :12:00.
I just feel it would be a mhssed opportunity not | :12:01. | :12:05.
some of those developers do not think about embedding cultural | :12:06. | :12:08.
infrastructure into some of developments. | :12:09. | :12:10.
On the corner of these new-build flats near Cambridge | :12:11. | :12:13.
station, the creative space given never by developers until 2018. | :12:14. | :12:17.
A victory for the artist group that secured it. | :12:18. | :12:22.
Cambridge is a difficult pl`ce to be an artist because it is expdnsive. | :12:23. | :12:30.
It is on a par with London but we believe that if you have th`t DIY | :12:31. | :12:38.
spirit, then anything is possible. With the help of the arts Council, a | :12:39. | :12:44.
pair of likely estate agents have set up shop talking about these | :12:45. | :12:50.
issues. They find the space liberating and exhausting. Xou know | :12:51. | :12:54.
you have a limited time. We have to make something rather than lake the | :12:55. | :13:02.
studio pay for me. I need to have five paintings or five meditm-sized | :13:03. | :13:07.
sculptures so I can make 500 quid to pay the rent. Some of these things | :13:08. | :13:13.
do not allow for a communitx to begin to flourish. It keeps everyone | :13:14. | :13:18.
in a state of where they ard having to plan to go next. Her arthstic | :13:19. | :13:24.
heart is in Cambridge and she hopes she can stay. | :13:25. | :13:25.
600 jobs are at risk at Northampton-based | :13:26. | :13:27.
Britain's largest builder's merchant is closing down 30 branches | :13:28. | :13:31.
It says it's due to an uncertain UK outlook for next year. | :13:32. | :13:44.
It is always a disappointment when jobs go. More and more jobs are | :13:45. | :13:51.
being created them are going and that is why we have kept thd | :13:52. | :13:56.
employment rate out where it is I hope people will be able to get into | :13:57. | :14:01.
alternative employment quickly. Let us join Stewart and Suzy now for the | :14:02. | :14:03.
rest of the programme. Still to come, Alex will be here | :14:04. | :14:18.
with the weather. After mocking Islam in a video, Louis Smith tries | :14:19. | :14:21.
to make amends by visiting ` mosque. New figures out this week show house | :14:22. | :14:29.
prices in the East of England are rising faster than anywhere else | :14:30. | :14:32.
in the country. More than 13% over the last year, | :14:33. | :14:34.
an increase of ?32,000 Not so good if you're struggling | :14:35. | :14:37.
to get on the ladder. We've asked Leigh Milner to do | :14:38. | :14:43.
the number crunching, But first Katherine Nash has | :14:44. | :14:45.
been talking to estate This is the three bedroomed | :14:46. | :14:59.
semi-detached property. House hunting in feelics stow. Seb started | :15:00. | :15:04.
looking a few years ago, but needed more time to save up for a deposit. | :15:05. | :15:10.
Now, ready to buy, he is interested in this three bed semi on the market | :15:11. | :15:16.
today at ?179,000. I have bden looking more about three ye`rs. I | :15:17. | :15:20.
looked at a property just around the corner for ?105,000 and then I | :15:21. | :15:24.
started to save to get on the ladder. Stayed at home, staxed in on | :15:25. | :15:29.
the odd weekend and I have now got enough money to buy a house, but | :15:30. | :15:33.
house prices have gone up considerably so it is toughdr than | :15:34. | :15:38.
ever. Across England, average house prices have risen by 9%. However | :15:39. | :15:43.
here in the east that figurd stands at 13.3%. There is more opportunity | :15:44. | :15:49.
for mortgages with people. There is a lot more buy-to-let investment | :15:50. | :15:52.
going on certainly in the l`st few years. It is a better place to put | :15:53. | :15:59.
your money than in the banks. Near Huntingdon this 17th cdntury | :16:00. | :16:04.
cottage is on the market for ?535,000, and the owners have had | :16:05. | :16:09.
one offer. I feel the market is buoyant. With the growth at the | :16:10. | :16:15.
moment and in the east of England I think it bucked all fear th`t is the | :16:16. | :16:19.
EU referendum was going to have a lull in the summer market. We're | :16:20. | :16:24.
seeing property rises up to 15% But while the price hike is good for | :16:25. | :16:28.
those selling property, for others, even getting on to the propdrty | :16:29. | :16:30.
ladder is a struggle. Sarah Roberts is a trainee chef on | :16:31. | :16:38.
minimum wage. She is also a single mum and rents a two bedroom | :16:39. | :16:42.
property. She is worried shd will never own her own place. | :16:43. | :16:47.
I don't think it is feasibld with how wages are and how everything is | :16:48. | :16:50.
increasing. It makes me a lhttle sad. I want more for my son. I want | :16:51. | :16:54.
something to hand down to hhm. As soon as I leave this house H have | :16:55. | :16:59.
got nothing to show for my ?600 rent. In Felix stow, Seb likes the | :17:00. | :17:07.
house and thinking of making an offer. Thinking of becoming a | :17:08. | :17:12.
homeowner before he's priced out of the market. | :17:13. | :17:15.
Katherine Nash with some examples from Suffolk, | :17:16. | :17:16.
But what about the rest of the patch? | :17:17. | :17:22.
It turns out the hotspots aren't necessarily where you'd expdct. | :17:23. | :17:24.
OK, well let's start with Cambridgeshire where house prices | :17:25. | :17:28.
The average house price there is roughly ?278,000. | :17:29. | :17:37.
Let's get an expert opinion on what that means if you lhve | :17:38. | :17:42.
A lot of people can't afford to buy still on the market. The avdrage | :17:43. | :17:47.
house price in Cambridge is over ?450,000. You technically nded a | :17:48. | :17:54.
salary of about ?95,000 a ydar to be able to buy it. | :17:55. | :17:58.
Now if you think that's expdnsive, figures show those who commtte | :17:59. | :18:01.
to London from other nearby counties such as Essex are feeling | :18:02. | :18:04.
the squeeze even more so as prices there are soaring with an average | :18:05. | :18:15.
Just to put that into perspdctive, it's ?58,000 than the average price | :18:16. | :18:21.
Why, well it's because of places like Basildon where house prices | :18:22. | :18:25.
Another popular county for commuters is Hertfordshhre. | :18:26. | :18:28.
When compared with other counties in the East. | :18:29. | :18:31.
It has one of the highest increases for house prices of 16.1%. | :18:32. | :18:34.
That means you can expect to pay almost | :18:35. | :18:36.
If you think that's a littld too out of your price range, | :18:37. | :18:41.
not too far away in Luton, a house will set you back | :18:42. | :18:44.
If you want even cheaper, the average price in Norfolk | :18:45. | :18:47.
It's here and Suffolk where they've seen the lowest increase of around | :18:48. | :18:58.
It's here where you'll also find the cheapest place to live | :18:59. | :19:02.
Well, if you're a commuter travelling to London you can expect | :19:03. | :19:12.
to start paying more on average for a house. | :19:13. | :19:15.
In particular places such as Essex, Hertfordshire, | :19:16. | :19:18.
Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire. | :19:19. | :19:23.
I've been told by various estate agents the reason behind thhs | :19:24. | :19:26.
is because despite prices increasing It's still much cheaper overall | :19:27. | :19:29.
to live just outside of London and commute in, | :19:30. | :19:31.
Also for families, it remains a much preferred choice when it cole | :19:32. | :19:38.
Norfolk and Suffolk remain the cheapest places to live | :19:39. | :19:41.
But the overall average cost of a house continues to risd, | :19:42. | :19:45.
Football now and our teams from the Championship and Ldague One | :19:46. | :19:52.
Pick of the ties - the first match between Petdrborough | :19:53. | :19:56.
Elsewhere the pressure incrdased on the manager of MK Dons, | :19:57. | :20:00.
Karl Robinson, but Ipswich got a much needed win | :20:01. | :20:02.
James Burridge has the pick of the action, starting | :20:03. | :20:05.
Some of this lot were still at school when Peterborough | :20:06. | :20:10.
and Northampton last played in the League. | :20:11. | :20:13.
Seven years which has seen both beset by various ups and downs. | :20:14. | :20:16.
I still think, especially the older generation, | :20:17. | :20:22.
they look at this one as the real big game. | :20:23. | :20:24.
My dad brought me here when I was ten or 11 | :20:25. | :20:30.
and I was brought up with it since then really. | :20:31. | :20:33.
I'm really excited. I love the atmosphere. | :20:34. | :20:34.
So a lot of my friends are Northampton fans so I love it. | :20:35. | :20:42.
The match lived up to the bhlling, even if for the Cobblers | :20:43. | :20:45.
Marcus Maddison delivering the ball on a plate. | :20:46. | :20:52.
He set-up Shaquile Coulthirst for the first, Ryan | :20:53. | :20:54.
Despite sustained pressure from Northampton in the second half | :20:55. | :20:58.
Tom Nicholls' volley put the game beyond doubt. | :20:59. | :21:01.
Posh leapfrogging their opponents in the table. | :21:02. | :21:03.
I think the boys stuck to the game plan really well. | :21:04. | :21:07.
We knew it was going to be a physical battle. | :21:08. | :21:09.
We knew we had to win our individual battles first and foremost | :21:10. | :21:12.
It was good to score two set plays something we work on a lot. | :21:13. | :21:19.
It's not acceptable that level of performance. | :21:20. | :21:21.
We have conceded two set pidces and one cross in the box. | :21:22. | :21:23.
Second half, I thought we h`d the better of the play, | :21:24. | :21:26.
but if you don't take your chances, you don't win games of football | :21:27. | :21:33.
Well, if you're a fan of Ipswich Town you haven't | :21:34. | :21:35.
Their first goal in 502 minttes courtesy of captain Luke Ch`mbers. | :21:36. | :21:41.
Freddie Sears made it 2-0 l`te on his first goal in 38 gamds. | :21:42. | :21:44.
Town's first win in six matches with a clean sheet to boot. | :21:45. | :21:47.
A welcome relief for manager Mick McCarthy. | :21:48. | :21:52.
Consentration or a lack of cost Norwich at Fulham. | :21:53. | :21:54.
Two penalties from Graham Dorrans gave them a comfortable adv`ntage. | :21:55. | :21:57.
Back came Fulham in a 15 minute spell. | :21:58. | :22:02.
They scored twice, 2-2 it fhnished and the canaries slip to second | :22:03. | :22:05.
MK Dons boss Karl Robinson is under real pressure. | :22:06. | :22:13.
His side haven't won at homd since March and last night | :22:14. | :22:15.
he said his side may have to cheat more to win matches. | :22:16. | :22:18.
He was left livid by refereding decisions as his side conceded twice | :22:19. | :22:21.
in the final three minutes to draw 3-3 with Bristol Rovers. | :22:22. | :22:29.
The Peterborough gymnast, Louis Smith, missed the Olylpic | :22:30. | :22:31.
celebrations in London yestdrday so that he could visit mosqtes | :22:32. | :22:34.
Last week mobile phone foot`ge emerged of him appearing | :22:35. | :22:37.
He has since apologised, describing his actions | :22:38. | :22:40.
This report is from Athar Ahmed from the BBC's Asian Network. | :22:41. | :22:51.
He was the poster boy of the Olympics in 2012. | :22:52. | :22:54.
And winner of one of the cotntry's most watched shows. | :22:55. | :23:05.
But now Louis Smith is facing a different challenge - | :23:06. | :23:08.
getting his reputation back on track after accusations of | :23:09. | :23:10.
It comes after a video was posted online showing the 27-year-old | :23:11. | :23:20.
apparently mocking Islam whhch led to him receiving death thre`ts. | :23:21. | :23:22.
Now the gymnast is meeting Muslims around the country. | :23:23. | :23:27.
This is the mosque itself. Shoes are fine up to here. | :23:28. | :23:30.
Sitting down with them to explain why. | :23:31. | :23:36.
What you say can resonate whth some people on a personal level. | :23:37. | :23:39.
And what I didn't want is pdople to see that video and think it's OK | :23:40. | :23:42.
to do what I did or take it one step or further or two steps further | :23:43. | :23:49.
While his fellow Olympians celebrated their Rio success | :23:50. | :23:53.
in parades being thrown for Team GB earlier this week, Smith | :23:54. | :23:55.
decided not to take part because of the controversy | :23:56. | :23:57.
I don't want to antagonise situations. | :23:58. | :24:02.
I don't want people to feel like he has done that he's done | :24:03. | :24:05.
and now he's out having a great time. | :24:06. | :24:07.
He's out partying and socialising and stuff. | :24:08. | :24:12.
REPORTER: That must be hard seeing the other athletes celebrathng | :24:13. | :24:15.
their victory and success and not being there? | :24:16. | :24:17.
It is hard, but at the same time I'm in this position | :24:18. | :24:20.
because of my own actions and my own behaviour. | :24:21. | :24:24.
Young Muslims who have met the gymnast say they're ple`sed | :24:25. | :24:27.
I remember watching Louis win his medal in 2012. | :24:28. | :24:32.
So when this video came out it was disappointing. | :24:33. | :24:34.
I thought should I have supported him or not? | :24:35. | :24:36.
But today shows that it was the right thing to do. | :24:37. | :24:42.
Thank you very much. Very kind of you to say. | :24:43. | :24:44.
Smith now plans to take up invitations to visit other losques | :24:45. | :24:47.
around the country in the coming weeks and hopes to rebuild his | :24:48. | :24:50.
career and reputation as ond of Britain's finest Olympians. | :24:51. | :24:58.
Time to get the weather now. Here is Alex. Thank you very much. Good | :24:59. | :25:04.
evening we have had such a variety of weather conditions across the | :25:05. | :25:10.
region today. Some big waves on the north for folk coast. Some fine | :25:11. | :25:13.
weather in Bedford and sunshine across many of the western counties. | :25:14. | :25:17.
Lots of showers across eastdrn counties. Again another one from | :25:18. | :25:22.
Norfolk here showing a double rainbow and this has been c`used by | :25:23. | :25:26.
an area of low pressure that's close by. We have had a north-westerly | :25:27. | :25:30.
wind and it continued to brhng in showers across many eastern counties | :25:31. | :25:35.
from the North Sea. If we rtn the satellite sequence you can see from | :25:36. | :25:38.
this morning the main focus of the showers has been across parts of | :25:39. | :25:41.
Norfolk, but they are getting down further towards Suffolk and into | :25:42. | :25:45.
Essex as well. We could expdct further showers particularlx across | :25:46. | :25:48.
the coast and across the eastern counties. Further west, there are | :25:49. | :25:51.
one or two dotted around, btt not so heavy. Through the evening `nd for | :25:52. | :25:55.
the first part of the night, expect a further risk of those showers but | :25:56. | :25:59.
the general trend will be for those to fade away. By the end of the | :26:00. | :26:03.
night they should be out of the way and it will be dry. Temperature wise | :26:04. | :26:08.
there will be a lot of cloud around and breeze. So temperatures probably | :26:09. | :26:12.
eight or nine Celsius at thdir lowest, but if you get any clear | :26:13. | :26:16.
spells, they could go down ` few degrees lower than that. It couldnd | :26:17. | :26:20.
up being a chilly start to the day tomorrow. A similar set-up on the | :26:21. | :26:24.
pressure pattern tomorrow. The low starts to move eastwards of the | :26:25. | :26:28.
centre of that low further `way from us. Although there will be showers | :26:29. | :26:31.
coming in from the North Se`, they're not expected to be heavy. | :26:32. | :26:35.
There could be a good scattdring of them and hopefully sunshine in | :26:36. | :26:43.
between. They are toe fo can yoused across eastern counties. Perhaps | :26:44. | :26:48.
cloudy at times as we go through the afternoon and the win coming in from | :26:49. | :26:52.
the north making it feel chhlly Temp tures 13 or 14 Celsius. A shift | :26:53. | :26:56.
in pressure pattern as we gdt to the end of the week. So the are` of low | :26:57. | :27:01.
pressure continues to move dastwards and that starts to change otr wind | :27:02. | :27:05.
direction to an easterly. It will bring in colder air. You will notice | :27:06. | :27:09.
the area of low pressure down to the west. That could produce sole | :27:10. | :27:12.
unsettled weather, but the weekend should be dry. So expect a largely | :27:13. | :27:16.
dry day for Friday, but clotdy, perhaps an isolated shower `nd at | :27:17. | :27:20.
the moment for us in the east, Saturday and Sunday are looking dry | :27:21. | :27:23.
with sunshine. A little on the cool side with highs of 13 Celsits. And | :27:24. | :27:27.
certainly those overnight temperatures dropping away `s we get | :27:28. | :27:33.
to the end of the weekend. We put the winter duvet on this | :27:34. | :27:40.
morning. You still haven't put your heating on, have you? No. Some | :27:41. | :27:43.
things never change! Bye-byd. Everyone's living these | :27:44. | :27:51.
amazing lives, | :27:52. | :27:54. |
