A 17-year-old boy has died and another has life

The car they were in was being followed by a marked

This is the junction of Southsea Avenue and Glendale Gardens,

which was cordoned off for some time in the early hours as a specialist

police team tried to piece together what had happened.

There was a breakdown vehicle, four police cars, and at least

And they're going house-to-house to ask people what they'd heard

Police say one of their unmarked vehicles had been following a

maroon Ford Escort which had failed to stop.

It reached this spot and collided with a silver BMW.

The 17-year-old who died was in the Escort.

Another teenager in the car the same age was critically hurt.

Two other teenagers had minor injuries and were arrested.

One on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and possessing

class A drugs with intent to supply, the other on suspicion

The case is being monitored by the Independent Police

Complaints Commission, which said in a statement...

It's hoped lung cancer could be detected and treated earlier thanks

to new research taking place in this region.

The University of East Anglia is looking a therapy

It's being part-funded by a local charity.

Chemotherapy extended her life but couldn't save it.

To be told there really is no treatment that is going to cure it

and that it's really a case of, "Would you like this treatment

"to sort of hopefully hold it back for a while?"

It's just a horrible situation to be in.

That's why photodynamic therapy is being studied.

What happens is light-sensitive medication is injected

into the patient, clinging to cancerous cells.

A tube's then inserted with a laser on the end -

the light reacts with the drug, killing the tumour.

Researchers hope it could be an alternative to surgery.

Surgery is very invasive because the lungs are

A lot of people can't actually have surgical reception.

The treatment's already used for some skin cancer patients.

Now, the Norfolk PDT charity is funding research for lung cancer.

This treatment's a long way off being approved.

If successful, it would still have to go through clinical trials

and all that could take around seven years.

But if it works, it could transform the lives
