Two teenagers have now died following a car crash in Essex.

:00:10.:00:13.

One boy was pronounced dead at the scene and today a second

:00:14.:00:16.

Both were passengers in a Ford Escort that crashed

:00:17.:00:20.

The car was being pursued by police at the time.

:00:21.:00:25.

Today a 16-year-old has appeared in court charged with causing

:00:26.:00:28.

And in all day they came to pay their respects to two macro teenage

:00:29.:00:46.

friends. The victim was named as Reagan Knight and Liam Phillips.

:00:47.:00:49.

Reagan died this morning in hospital. Both were 17 years old.

:00:50.:00:54.

Among those laying flowers was Reigan's friend Vinnie, supported by

:00:55.:00:57.

his mother. Everyone loved him, honestly.

:00:58.:01:03.

A really nice boy. Really nice boys. They will lead a big hole in their

:01:04.:01:08.

life, because he really was a wonderful, caring boy. Always put

:01:09.:01:12.

others first before himself. Both teenagers were passengers in a

:01:13.:01:17.

maroon Ford Escort. In the early hours of yesterday morning, while

:01:18.:01:20.

being followed by eight marked police car, it failed to stop. It

:01:21.:01:25.

then hit a BMW at a junction, before crashing into a wall. Two at the

:01:26.:01:30.

teenage boys injured in the crash were arrested at the scene. Today, a

:01:31.:01:35.

police sniffer dog checked nearby streets. Because the police were

:01:36.:01:40.

following the car, the case has been referred to the Independent Police

:01:41.:01:43.

Complaints Commission. Today, a 16-year-old boy from great

:01:44.:01:47.

way to ring was charged with a number of offences, including

:01:48.:01:50.

causing death by dangerous driving and death by dangerous driving

:01:51.:01:53.

whilst without a driving licence or insurance.

:01:54.:01:57.

He appeared at Chelmsford youth court. A 17-year-old boy from

:01:58.:02:02.

Shoeburyness, arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs, has been

:02:03.:02:06.

released on bail. The death of two teenagers, so soon after Christmas,

:02:07.:02:11.

is keenly felt here. Friends are now planning a tribute on the seafront

:02:12.:02:13.

nearby in their memory. Nearly 3000 people have been

:02:14.:02:36.

watching the mother of missing airman Corrie McKeague answer

:02:37.:02:39.

questions from the public live Nicola Urquart was online

:02:40.:02:41.

replying to messages posted on the "find Corrie" page for nearly

:02:42.:02:44.

an hour and a half. She thanked everyone

:02:45.:02:47.

for their support. Her 23 year old son went

:02:48.:02:48.

missing 3 months ago After a night out

:02:49.:02:51.

in Bury St Edmunds. I will get curry home. I will find

:02:52.:02:56.

him, and hopefully we will do with the help of the police. But without

:02:57.:02:58.

getting emotional, a certainly can't do it without you.

:02:59.:02:59.

A brand new school in West Africa is being given equipment that is no

:03:00.:03:03.

Next term, students at Stopsley High are moving into new buildings.

:03:04.:03:07.

Today volunteers started dismantling the old furniture,

:03:08.:03:09.

which will be shipped to Sierra Leone in the New Year.

:03:10.:03:14.

This is recycling on a whole new level.

:03:15.:03:18.

The high school moves to new premises in January, and the old

:03:19.:03:21.

buildings are being demolished, but the fixtures and fittings will be

:03:22.:03:24.

saved and shipped out to West Africa.

:03:25.:03:27.

Doors, desks, chairs, fridges, air conditioning units,

:03:28.:03:30.

even toilets, will all be used to equip a brand-new school.

:03:31.:03:38.

I think it is going to be good, because although we have the

:03:39.:03:41.

equipment and we take it for granted, it would be a really good

:03:42.:03:44.

And these are people who don't have a lot.

:03:45.:03:50.

Here in Sierra Leone, they live largely in slums, in a country

:03:51.:03:53.

But now a charity is helping them rebuild their lives.

:03:54.:03:58.

The new school will be part of a new village with

:03:59.:04:01.

300 houses, a health centre, and a bakery

:04:02.:04:03.

Out of an old school comes a new school which will literally

:04:04.:04:09.

transform the lives of so many children.

:04:10.:04:12.

These are the people who are the poorest on earth,

:04:13.:04:15.

and we, by using what we are only going to

:04:16.:04:17.

throw into landfill, we can build and provide facilities

:04:18.:04:21.

and training programmes and really help people.

:04:22.:04:26.

They are even talking about the students getting involved

:04:27.:04:28.

afterwards to see what has happened with the

:04:29.:04:31.

old bits of the school and where the school has gone to,

:04:32.:04:35.

and what they are doing with it. I just think it is fantastic.

:04:36.:04:39.

The charity is now asking for volunteers to help

:04:40.:04:41.

The equipment will then be shipped out in the New Year.

:04:42.:04:48.

Student paramedics are taking union action over

:04:49.:04:51.

Unison have raised a collective grievance against the East

:04:52.:04:55.

It comes after trainees were unable to qualify

:04:56.:04:59.

because universities couldn't accredit their courses on time.

:05:00.:05:03.

The Ambulance Service says the delays were out of its control

:05:04.:05:06.

and staff won't miss out on extra pay.

:05:07.:05:13.

More than ?100,000 has been secured to save an historic pier in Suffolk.

:05:14.:05:16.

Shotley Railway Pier was built 122 years ago.

:05:17.:05:26.

It was the backdrop to a dramatic German U-boat fleet surrender at the

:05:27.:05:31.

end of the First World War. -- the Second World War.

:05:32.:05:32.

Now a local heritage group hope to buy and restore it.

:05:33.:05:35.

Coming up now Alex with the weather, but from the rest of the late team.

:05:36.:05:39.

Thank you very much. Good evening. Freezing fog patches affecting a lot

:05:40.:05:47.

of the region overnight tonight, becoming more widespread as we go

:05:48.:05:51.

through the night. We'll so have the hazard of icy patches of untreated

:05:52.:05:56.

surfaces, with temperatures dropping quite significantly below freezing.

:05:57.:06:02.

We could be down to around -4 or minus five Celsius by tomorrow

:06:03.:06:06.

morning. We start the day with some mist and fog around, and much of it

:06:07.:06:09.

is expected to linger through the morning, if not into the afternoon.

:06:10.:06:11.

Where it lingers, it is expected to Where it lingers, it is expected to

:06:12.:06:14.

stay very cold, September dues may not rise above around three Celsius.

:06:15.:06:19.

But there is the chance some of it may lift and break, and perhaps a

:06:20.:06:23.

glimmer of brightness here and there, 5-7 C where that mist and fog

:06:24.:06:26.

lifts. The national forecast is next. Here is the outlook.

:06:27.:06:40.

As we have seen today, the weather can be a thing of real beauty, but

:06:41.:06:45.

also a real menace. Lovely shot taken this afternoon in Berkshire,

:06:46.:06:51.

the sun lighting up the hillsides, with dense fog. And that fog is

:06:52.:06:55.

dangerous. It is becoming up right now, with warnings out from the Met

:06:56.:07:02.

Office. -- it is thickening right now. Not a pretty sight across

:07:03.:07:07.

England, East Wales tomorrow morning. Dense patches of freezing

:07:08.:07:14.

fog. Nor for all. Slippery surfaces. Take it easy on the roads. In the

:07:15.:07:18.

far north of England, and Scotland and Northern Ireland, not so chilly.

:07:19.:07:23.

And some drizzly rain across the Western Highlands and the islands.

:07:24.:07:27.

These continued through the day on a brisk wind. Elsewhere, the winds

:07:28.:07:30.

will be liked and that is the problem, because there was no wind

:07:31.:07:35.

to shift that fog. Where do you have got fog, it could stick

:07:36.:07:36.
