The chief fire officer of Essex is dismissed

despite a report which found no evidence of misconduct.

later with all the details. The chief fire officer of Essex

has been sacked today David Johnson was suspended two

years ago, a suspension that has A previous report seemed to show no

evidence of misconduct. After two years of being suspended

from his position of chief fire officer on full pay,

David Johnson has today been sacked. It was only last year

there was criticism over how much time and money the Fire Service

was spending investigating The cost of a fully

crewed fire appliance I'm guessing that is about

the region they have spent on this. You could have funded a fire

appliance to protect the communities of Essex somewhere for the same

money that they have pretty much wasted on prevaricating and not

carrying out the investigation in what should've been

a timely fashion. Among the allegations,

David Johnson was accused of booking luxury instead of budget

accommodation for a conference, and failing to give enough notice

to book annual leave. In January this year,

the BBC contained a confidential report which appeared to clear him

of any wrongdoing. Over the last two years,

the fire authority has been reluctant to comment,

saying it didn't want to hinder Tonight, the Fire Officers

Association says it is disappointed both with how long David Johnson's

case has taken and with its outcome. We do not actually know and it seems

the one else knows, they will not tell us. The report in January

showed Mr Johnson faced 11 allegations at the time but there

was no evidence at the time also of misconduct or gross misconduct.

Since then, there has been a disciplinary process. Tonight, the

chairman of the Essex fire for the take, Anthony Hedley, has said that

process was very robust. -- the Essex Fire authority. The statement

says David Johnson has been dismissed with immediate effect, but

no reason for the sacking. Any news from Mr Johnson

regarding his sacking? He has not said anything, but his

spokesman said he has had confirmation of the dismissal. His

next action is to go for legal action.

Next tonight, an alleged computer hacker from Suffolk has been given

permission to appeal against his extradition

Lauri Love, who's 32 and has Asperger's syndrome,

is accused of stealing top-secret data from US agencies.

There have been many lows along the way for

Lauri Love in this protracted battle against extradition.

This was one of them last September, their argument failing

After Home Secretary Amber Rudd's signature gave approval

Lauri Love's legal team wasted no time in lodging

an appeal to the High Court, and today they learned it would be

And tonight at the family home, he told me it was a positive moment.

They said this case raises issues of great importance,

and furthermore they have allowed Liberty to intervene,

It is not just about my future but it is about the general

principle that the UK law should be sufficient to prosecute crimes

He is accused of hacking the computers of top-level

organisations such as the Federal Reserve, the FBI, and Nasa.

It is alleged it happened in 2012 and 2013.

If convicted, the potential jail term could run

There are various grounds in relation to Lauri's appeal,

and he has been granted permission on all of the grounds.

Certainly one of them is his Asperger's.

But most in particular to Asperger's around how he would be treated

While he believes extradition to the States would be wholly wrong,

In fact, he says he would welcome it as long as it is on UK soil,

so he could put his case won several.

Hundreds of people spilled onto the streets of a small market

town in Norfolk today for the funeral of a teenager killed

Kyle Warren, who was 17, died with Billy Hines

and Dominic O'Neill when the car they were in came off the road

Today, a convoy of lorries carried his coffin to the church.

At 11am, the town of Harleston came to a standstill,

as father and son made one last journey together.

Followed by a convoy of lorries from his haulage company,

Daniel Warren took his 17-year-old son's coffin to St John

The Banger Racer theme tune played as his coffin was carried inside.

The church is currently full of some of Kyle's friends and family,

of course, but if you look behind me, 70, 80 people have

decided to stand outside the church to not only listen to the service

but to listen to some of Kyle's favourite tracks.

Kyle died with two of his friends, 16-year-old Billy Hines

and 18-year-old Dominic O'Neill, when the Black Ford KA

they were travelling in came off the road and hit a tree

As a former Archbishop Sancroft High School student,

it is not just friends and family who will miss him.

We have only 370 students, so it is really like a big family.

So when we lose three, we lose a big part of our community.

Today, a fitting send-off for a student, friend, brother, and son.

you have to live over three miles from the nearest secondary

I think it is to make money for them.

The County Council say it is to save money in this era

But then they have raised the council tax but we still have

The reality is we provide free transport to the nearest school.

If you choose to go to a different school, that is your choice.

But as with all choice, there are consequences.

We believe that all school transport ought to be funded

by the County Council, because in rural areas,

You cannot help where the school places happen to be.

We would reinstate free school transport to catchment schools

but we want to go for than that and actually bring in free bus

And we want to see the cycling strategy implemented

so that we have a holistic policy on transport to schools.

Ukip doesn't actually have a policy as far as school

We have a policy as far as grammar schools are concerned,

but my own personal take on it is that no child should be

disadvantaged in their education by virtue of the fact that they live

too far from school to be able to get there reasonably on their own.

We want to make it much more easy and accessible forbearance

to get their children to school safely.

That means both having the public transport,

the buses and trains available when they need them,

but also making safe walking and cycling routes.

Particularly in rural areas, it is simply not safe.

Over the past four years, the Conservative administration

is effectively said, ask not what Essex County

Council can do for you, but what you can do for yourself.

In return, it has offered one of the lowest council tax rates

But they have had to make half a billion pounds worth of savings

and those savings have led to cuts, including to school

Voters like Lisa are weighing up the quality of County Council
