Good evening and welcome to BBC Look North. | :00:00. | :00:09.
Prisoners getting high - ?500,000 worth of drugs | :00:10. | :00:13.
Prisoners are taking advantage of the system, because they know | :00:14. | :00:19.
Six months on, voters in Britain's most pro-Brexit town say they don't | :00:20. | :00:25.
We've just got too much foreign nationals. | :00:26. | :00:31.
It was the safer option to stay in for the country. | :00:32. | :00:34.
The first images of how a new football stadium | :00:35. | :00:38.
in Grimsby could look - including an ice arena. | :00:39. | :00:45.
A Christmas competition from the 1930s to decorate hospital | :00:46. | :00:49.
And I will be back with your festive forecast and looks quite windy. That | :00:50. | :00:57.
would be later in the programme. There are calls tonight | :00:58. | :01:06.
for the Government to do more to tackle drug misuse in prisons | :01:07. | :01:10.
in east Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Look North has learned that around | :01:11. | :01:15.
?500,000 worth of drugs have been found at one | :01:16. | :01:18.
east Yorkshire prison The Ministry of Justice | :01:19. | :01:20.
says the contraband was found at HMP Humber | :01:21. | :01:24.
following intelligence-led searches. One charity has told us that drugs | :01:25. | :01:30.
are being thrown over prison walls Kate Sweeting has this | :01:31. | :01:37.
exclusive report. Aims rehabilitate. Now look north | :01:38. | :02:02.
have learned that over half ?1 million worth of drugs been seized | :02:03. | :02:06.
during the last three months. Corruption among the small number of | :02:07. | :02:09.
staff is certainly something we cannot rule out. We are seeing | :02:10. | :02:13.
drones being flown into prisons more prisons more and more and | :02:14. | :02:17.
increasingly large conversations. Many more packages I'm sure our | :02:18. | :02:21.
flying under the radar. In July 2015, concerns were raised but the | :02:22. | :02:26.
quantity of drugs in the present. at HMP Humber in a report | :02:27. | :02:30.
by Her Majesty's In a survey as part of that report | :02:31. | :02:32.
49% of prisoners said it was easy And 15% said they'd developed a drug | :02:33. | :02:37.
problem while at HMP Humber. On the back of that report, | :02:38. | :02:42.
the prison created an action plan to tackle the problem - | :02:43. | :02:44.
including increasing cell searches and improving substance misuse | :02:45. | :02:47.
services. A statement from the Ministry | :02:48. | :02:48.
of Justice said, "We know drugs in | :02:49. | :02:50.
prisons is an issue and we are taking unprecedented | :02:51. | :02:52.
action to tackle their This includes mandatory drug testing | :02:53. | :02:54.
for prisoners with extra time behind bars for those caught using banned | :02:55. | :02:58.
substances, tough new laws to deal with people smuggling | :02:59. | :03:01.
new psychoactive substances into jails and the increased use | :03:02. | :03:05.
of sniffer dogs and cell The prison service has faced | :03:06. | :03:07.
a series of challenges recently with disturbances in the last 24 | :03:08. | :03:14.
hours in Swaleside prison in Kent, Birmingham earlier this month, | :03:15. | :03:17.
and last weekend there were disturbances at Hull Prison | :03:18. | :03:20.
after 15 inmates were transferred I am really concerned. I think what | :03:21. | :03:33.
people think prisoners think is that it is a soft touch nowadays. They | :03:34. | :03:38.
can get drugs into the prison estate, because there are a few | :03:39. | :03:42.
officers and the officers that either very often I inexperienced. I | :03:43. | :03:47.
think he blurted the advantage of that. The prison officers | :03:48. | :03:50.
Association told us today that one of their challenges is its large | :03:51. | :03:55.
perimeter with a shard of officers to police it. It's odd that in some | :03:56. | :04:00.
cases drugs are being thrown in. The Government is committed to tackling | :04:01. | :04:05.
this problem. -- a shortage of officers. | :04:06. | :04:06.
It's exactly six months since Britain voted to leave | :04:07. | :04:08.
Boston recorded the country's biggest vote in favour of Brexit. | :04:09. | :04:12.
Three-quarters of people in the Lincolnshire town said | :04:13. | :04:14.
Our political editor Tim Iredale has returned to Boston to as is the mood | :04:15. | :04:19.
Few were surprised when Boston voted heavily in favour of quitting | :04:20. | :04:26.
the town has been at the centre of the debate | :04:27. | :04:31.
about the pros and cons of immigration. | :04:32. | :04:37.
More than 75% of registered voters here chose to leave | :04:38. | :04:39.
Less than a quarter wanted to remain. | :04:40. | :04:46.
It was highest Leave vote recorded anywhere in the United Kingdom | :04:47. | :04:50.
Auditor Christopher Lewis was one of the many who voted | :04:51. | :04:53.
We've just got too much foreign nationals and it is just taking too | :04:54. | :05:04.
I thought it was the safer option to stay in for the country financially | :05:05. | :05:17.
and, yes, it was just more the stable option. | :05:18. | :05:20.
Local Government Officer Alex Wilson voted to leave. | :05:21. | :05:22.
Meanwhile, students Aisha and Clare voted | :05:23. | :05:24.
We should have our Borders controlled properly. I don't think | :05:25. | :05:33.
that there are enough people to do the job that Britain requires. I | :05:34. | :05:38.
want to be part of the seed that we had in the EU. | :05:39. | :05:43.
But six months on, how do people view that | :05:44. | :05:45.
Or are they happy with the way they voted? | :05:46. | :05:49.
No regrets at all, no. I am thinking of my children when they grow up. | :05:50. | :05:56.
The town is overcrowded. It is a shame. Think it was the stay for | :05:57. | :06:00.
option still to say in the European Union and its all the uncertainty | :06:01. | :06:05.
with it as well but is carrying on. No regrets. I'm not criticising the | :06:06. | :06:10.
people that are here, I'm thinking about the ones that shouldn't be | :06:11. | :06:15.
here illegally around the world. I do not regret. I wish more people | :06:16. | :06:23.
had voted that way. Sign the some people said afterwards that they | :06:24. | :06:25.
wish they had voted remain. You should've thought that before. | :06:26. | :06:26.
So few regrets in the town dubbed Britain's Brexit capital | :06:27. | :06:30.
after a year when our political landscape changed forever. | :06:31. | :06:39.
This is another story we'd like your views on. | :06:40. | :06:43.
Are you surprised that opinions remain the same as they did six | :06:44. | :06:46.
Have you changed your mind or, if the Referendum was re-run | :06:47. | :06:49.
tomorrow, would you vote in exactly the same way? | :06:50. | :06:59.
There is the e-mail address and the test number. -- text number. | :07:00. | :07:05.
Administrators have been appointed to act for a Lincolnshire food | :07:06. | :07:09.
processing company which closed yesterday. | :07:10. | :07:10.
75 workers at Fishgate in Brookenby are waiting | :07:11. | :07:12.
They discovered the company had closed from a note on the door. | :07:13. | :07:17.
West Lindsey District Council says it will do all it can to help them. | :07:18. | :07:24.
I'm sad for those families and as a council, we will | :07:25. | :07:27.
do our best to give advice and assistance where necessary. | :07:28. | :07:30.
We do have the whole team of people at the | :07:31. | :07:33.
Guildhall who are trained for giving advice on benefits, housing, | :07:34. | :07:36.
Very sad maze for those 75 workers. We will continue to follow the story | :07:37. | :08:00.
of the are any developments of the next few weeks. | :08:01. | :08:00.
Thanks to everyone who got in touch regarding shops being open | :08:01. | :08:04.
Every year, more than ?3 billion are spent | :08:05. | :08:07.
But there's a growing number of people who think shops shouldn't | :08:08. | :08:11.
On last night's programme, I spoke to the manager of St Stephen's | :08:12. | :08:15.
I think for those of us who work, it's a volunteers day. | :08:16. | :08:19.
Nobody is actually made to work, it's a | :08:20. | :08:21.
Everybody who's working is choosing to work? | :08:22. | :08:23.
A lot of people disagree with those comments which were made last night. | :08:24. | :08:42.
Thank you for all the e-mails and text, not just last night but | :08:43. | :08:45.
throughout the year. Here are a few. There was a very big response on | :08:46. | :09:37.
this story, even though we didn't actually ask for it. Thank you for | :09:38. | :09:42.
all of those. Thank you for watching. | :09:43. | :09:43.
The first images of how Grimsby Town's | :09:44. | :09:46.
A 1930s Christmas competition to decorate hospital | :09:47. | :09:49.
A little bit of history was made in Hull late this afternoon. I am | :09:50. | :10:11.
indebted to Mark Adams for sending this picture in. | :10:12. | :10:12.
This is The Sea Challenger arriving in Hull this afternoon, | :10:13. | :10:15.
ready to be loaded up with the first turbine blades from Siemens. | :10:16. | :10:18.
You don't have to wait until the New Year, I have a picture for you. You | :10:19. | :10:41.
showed that one of me looking glamorous last night. I found this | :10:42. | :10:47.
one on Twitter. What a handsome young chap. How old are you there? | :10:48. | :10:52.
21? I'm certainly not going into that. It was about 1989. You are | :10:53. | :11:02.
like a fine wine, you age very well. Is that a present on behalf of the | :11:03. | :11:07.
viewers? Thank you to everybody who got involved in that behind my back. | :11:08. | :11:13.
A little Christmas treat for everybody there. The Christmas | :11:14. | :11:17.
weekend is going to remain rather blustery, so he windy one rather | :11:18. | :11:21.
than a white one I'm afraid. There will be some sunshine around | :11:22. | :11:25.
tomorrow. Lincolnshire could get away with a mainly dry day, but it | :11:26. | :11:30.
is going to be blustery with strong and dry winds. On Christmas Day | :11:31. | :11:33.
there will be another storm system affecting the UK and that will bring | :11:34. | :11:41.
the rest of deals. Later in the day another short spell of quite heavy | :11:42. | :11:44.
rain. You can see all of this cloud associated with storm Barbara Witt | :11:45. | :11:47.
is going towards the north of Scotland now. It did bring strong | :11:48. | :11:52.
winds and a line of heavy rain which went through quite quickly and now | :11:53. | :11:55.
there are clear skies and cherries for the rest of the night. Cold and | :11:56. | :12:00.
blustery. The peak of the winds have eased, but it will be blustery | :12:01. | :12:03.
night. Temperatures dropping to around 45 degrees. The sun will rise | :12:04. | :12:10.
in the morning at 18 minutes past eight. Those are the waters along | :12:11. | :12:16.
because line. It will be blustery and will feel quite chilly. Fair a | :12:17. | :12:22.
few showers being blown in, mainly across Yorkshire and perhaps | :12:23. | :12:24.
Lincolnshire in the afternoon. Linkage gets away with a largely | :12:25. | :12:28.
derided. Sometime between the showers. It will be a little bit | :12:29. | :12:33.
chillier than it has been today. Single figures tomorrow around seven | :12:34. | :12:40.
or 8 degrees. A cool Christmas Eve. In warning for winds later on | :12:41. | :12:44.
Christmas Day, risk of deals and heavy wind then. Look at the | :12:45. | :12:48.
temperature for Christmas Day. 13 degrees. It will be very mild, | :12:49. | :12:54.
fairly cloudy, strong winds, every rain later and settling down for the | :12:55. | :13:02.
next week. I was just looking to see if I could get a refund at the | :13:03. | :13:05.
expensive gift I got cheaper Christmas. I can get some money back | :13:06. | :13:10.
after what you dusted to me. Have a good Christmas. You are cruel. | :13:11. | :13:12.
Officials at Grimsby Town say their proposed new stadium | :13:13. | :13:14.
should secure their future in the modern game. | :13:15. | :13:16.
The comments come as pictures of what it will look | :13:17. | :13:19.
But the plans are still being met with some opposition. | :13:20. | :13:22.
Yunus Mulla as been looking at the story. | :13:23. | :13:31.
What more do we know that this evening? When the Grimsby town sign | :13:32. | :13:39.
that agreement with the National development of extreme leisure | :13:40. | :13:46.
earlier this year after a site was identified by north-east | :13:47. | :13:48.
Lincolnshire Council, attention focused on what a ?55 million scheme | :13:49. | :13:53.
could possibly look like. We now have a better idea of that, because | :13:54. | :13:57.
images of this new stadium have been released today. The future home of | :13:58. | :14:03.
the mariners could look like this if the club and its developers get | :14:04. | :14:07.
their way. The vision of a new community stadium just a few miles | :14:08. | :14:11.
from its current home here at Blundell Park. There is no doubt | :14:12. | :14:16.
that if you look at all football clubs who have relocated to new | :14:17. | :14:21.
stadiums, they always seems to be a feel-good factor surrounding those, | :14:22. | :14:25.
not just at the fit while club, but in the town itself. There will be a | :14:26. | :14:34.
14,000 capacity stadium, 1600 new houses, small shops and fast-food | :14:35. | :14:39.
outlets and other sports and leisure 's facilities including an ice rink. | :14:40. | :14:43.
The current ground is showing its age and a new stadium would bring | :14:44. | :14:47.
better facilities, employment and investment. Any ground has been | :14:48. | :14:52.
talked about for many years. The supporters of the club know all too | :14:53. | :14:56.
well. The current scheme is in its early stages, it strives to go | :14:57. | :15:02.
through full planning and confirmation process. There are | :15:03. | :15:08.
objections. Some claim current proposals are more hype than detail. | :15:09. | :15:13.
Them the development would be in the wrong place. I will fight it till | :15:14. | :15:18.
the very end. It is not right to bulldoze over every body like | :15:19. | :15:23.
feelings, and nature. Is supposed to be protected ground, that is the | :15:24. | :15:29.
green belt. The ghazals as a strict policy will be followed when there | :15:30. | :15:33.
is the potential for public grown to be used. A thing because of done it | :15:34. | :15:39.
any better location. You have to consider the residence and the fact | :15:40. | :15:43.
that his very close to the crematorium. I wouldn't mind if it | :15:44. | :15:48.
was there, but I think the locals might. It affected personally. More | :15:49. | :15:54.
details plans are expected to be presented in the New Year. The | :15:55. | :16:00.
history of this club tells us that we should expect attentional issues | :16:01. | :16:05.
in the near future, but the club is confident that they have the right | :16:06. | :16:09.
development and they say this could be the beginning of the end of their | :16:10. | :16:15.
search for a new stadium, but as he heard there from objectors, they say | :16:16. | :16:18.
they want more detail, because as far as they are is concerned, the | :16:19. | :16:22.
stadium is more hype than detail. Let us know what you | :16:23. | :16:26.
think of this story. Would this be a good | :16:27. | :16:28.
move for Grimsby Town These plans still have to be fully | :16:29. | :16:30.
discussed by the Council so no Hull City have activated contract | :16:31. | :16:35.
extensions for several players including Robert Snodgrass who's | :16:36. | :16:39.
been linked with a move away Speaking at this morning's | :16:40. | :16:42.
Press Conference ahead of the Boxing Day match | :16:43. | :16:45.
against Manchester City, Mike Phelan said he was determined | :16:46. | :16:46.
to keep players at the club Well, what we've done | :16:47. | :16:49.
with not just Robert, with a few of the players here, | :16:50. | :16:53.
we've exercised options that We are ongoing in | :16:54. | :16:55.
negotiations with those players and at this present moment | :16:56. | :16:58.
in time, all those players are A 78-year-old Trophy has been | :16:59. | :17:01.
rediscovered in the archives at a Hull hospital and, | :17:02. | :17:09.
as a result, a Christmas In 1938 a hospital doctor introduced | :17:10. | :17:12.
the prize for the most But the annual contest | :17:13. | :17:16.
was forgotten about, Oh, how dreary hospital wards | :17:17. | :17:19.
can be at Christmas. But not all of them - at Castle Hill | :17:20. | :17:36.
hospital in Cottingham and Hull Royal Infirmary, | :17:37. | :17:42.
at least 12 wards have been battling it out to be crowned | :17:43. | :17:45.
the best decorated thanks to this little, rediscovered | :17:46. | :17:49.
trophy, the Dr Hermon Cup. It was originally awarded back | :17:50. | :17:54.
in 1938 to the best decorated ward And it was named after Dr Richard | :17:55. | :17:58.
Hermon, an Honorary Radiologist who worked in the city | :17:59. | :18:05.
between the 1920's and 1940s, but since the trophy's been found | :18:06. | :18:07.
again in the Trust Archive, a staff member has now | :18:08. | :18:10.
discovered that Dr Hermon Is quite an unusual spelling, | :18:11. | :18:23.
because I think that a lot of people want to spell it differently. Its | :18:24. | :18:27.
jacket like a mile, I just couldn't believe it. | :18:28. | :18:30.
Of course, the competition has now started again too, | :18:31. | :18:32.
so who's won, well, not the North Pole. | :18:33. | :18:35.
We are very devastated. We already ordered the Cabinet for the cups ago | :18:36. | :18:44.
in next year and we were even thinking of employing Father next | :18:45. | :18:48.
year. Tee next year we are already planning. It has been such a big | :18:49. | :18:54.
morale boost. Challenge is on. This is the cup, what they have been | :18:55. | :18:58.
fighting for, what the competition has been resurrected for. Candy | :18:59. | :19:03.
canes and a Christmas present or remit the 2016 winners, Ward 11. | :19:04. | :19:09.
CHEERING We came up with the national Elf | :19:10. | :19:19.
service as the theme. The patients have absolutely loved being on board | :19:20. | :19:22.
with a bit of Christmas spirit back onto the words. It's been amazing. | :19:23. | :19:28.
Whatsit of difference does it make? A lot, a lot. I had my operation | :19:29. | :19:32.
yesterday. Writing like got to join in. The gibbous hats. And taking it | :19:33. | :19:39.
out with me. I'm going out tonight in it. Nobody else wants it. Word | :19:40. | :19:42.
11, were the winners for now. Well done to them. That's a good | :19:43. | :19:56.
evenings all our friends are at the hospital. Responses to our Brexit | :19:57. | :20:08.
report, Joe says the town of Boston was ill-prepared for the scale of | :20:09. | :20:14.
change. I don't blame them for wanting out of the EU. Another | :20:15. | :20:18.
person says I think the result of this will cause immense harm in the | :20:19. | :20:23.
long run. Another says I voted league and have no regrets. We will | :20:24. | :20:26.
emerge a stronger independent country who can make our own laws | :20:27. | :20:31.
are not have to answer to some pace was Europeans. Chris says Harriet | :20:32. | :20:36.
and get us out. Helen says no regrets I voted out and cant wait | :20:37. | :20:40.
It's only a few days until Hull begins its year as the UK's City | :20:41. | :20:44.
of Culture and you'll remember that, in October, the BBC held auditions | :20:45. | :20:47.
to find the "Face of Hull," someone who would report on events | :20:48. | :20:50.

become the unofficial anthem for City of Culture. | :23:21. | :23:23.
# Are you ready for the time of your life? | :23:24. | :24:09.
# Are you ready for the time of your life? | :24:10. | :24:27.
# Hand in hand we'll take the caravan to the harbour land | :24:28. | :24:38.
# Now the children of the world can see | :24:39. | :24:47.
# This is a better place for us to be | :24:48. | :24:51.
# One by one we're going to stand up and cry | :24:52. | :25:47.
# From the highest mountain and valley low | :25:48. | :25:54.
# We'll be landing in a world of peace | :25:55. | :26:06.
# It's all right, all right # Let go from your heart hand | :26:07. | :26:14.
# Are you ready for the time of your life?# | :26:15. | :28:04.
