?500,000 worth of drugs has been found at an East Yorkshire

:00:09.:00:14.

The Ministry of Justice says the contraband was found at HMP

:00:15.:00:18.

Humber following intelligence-led searches since October.

:00:19.:00:21.

One charity has told us that drugs are being thrown over prison walls

:00:22.:00:24.

HMP Humber in Everthorpe aims to rehabilitate inmates

:00:25.:00:33.

but the prison has had long-standing issues with drugs and now Look North

:00:34.:00:37.

has learned that ?500,000 of illegal substances were seized

:00:38.:00:40.

there in the last three months alone.

:00:41.:00:42.

It's a problem not unique to this prison.

:00:43.:00:44.

Campaigners say there are many factors.

:00:45.:00:47.

Corruption amongst a small number of staff is something we can't rule

:00:48.:00:51.

We have seen drones being flown into prisons more and more,

:00:52.:00:56.

and we are seeing increasingly large confiscations.

:00:57.:01:00.

But many more packages, I'm sure, are flying under the radar.

:01:01.:01:05.

In July 2015 concerns were raised about the quantity of drugs

:01:06.:01:13.

in HMP Humber in a report by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons.

:01:14.:01:16.

In a survey as part of that report, 49% of prisoners said it was easy

:01:17.:01:20.

or very easy to get illegal drugs, and 15% said they'd developed a drug

:01:21.:01:24.

On the back of that report, the prison created an action plan

:01:25.:01:28.

to tackle the problem, including increasing cell

:01:29.:01:31.

searches and improving substance misuse services.

:01:32.:01:36.

In a statement, the Ministry of Justice said: The prison service

:01:37.:01:59.

has faced a series of challenges recently, with disturbances

:02:00.:02:02.

in the last 24 hours in Swaleside prison in Kent,

:02:03.:02:05.

Birmingham earlier this month, and last weekend there

:02:06.:02:07.

were disturbances at Hull Prison after 15 inmates were transferred

:02:08.:02:09.

I think what prisoners think is that it's a soft touch nowadays.

:02:10.:02:15.

They can get drugs into the prison estate because there's few officers,

:02:16.:02:20.

and the officers that are there are very

:02:21.:02:22.

So I think people have taken advantage of that.

:02:23.:02:26.

The Prison Officers' Association told us today that one of HMP

:02:27.:02:30.

Humber's challenges is its large perimeter, with a shortage

:02:31.:02:33.

It's thought in some cases, drugs are being thrown in.

:02:34.:02:38.

But the Government says it is committed to tackling this problem.

:02:39.:02:44.

Administrators have been appointed to act for a Lincolnshire food

:02:45.:02:48.

processing company which closed yesterday.

:02:49.:02:49.

75 workers at Fishgate in Brookenby are waiting to find out

:02:50.:02:53.

They discovered the company had closed from a note on the door.

:02:54.:02:59.

West Lindsey District Council says it will do all it can to help them.

:03:00.:03:04.

I'm disappointed, I'm sad for those families.

:03:05.:03:08.

And, as a council, we will do our best to give advice

:03:09.:03:12.

We do have a whole team of people at the Guildhall who are trained

:03:13.:03:20.

for giving advice on benefits, on housing, anything

:03:21.:03:27.

Councils in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire are to share close

:03:28.:03:32.

to ?9 million to help build more affordable homes.

:03:33.:03:36.

The Government money is being given to areas which have high levels

:03:37.:03:39.

of second home ownership, which it says is reducing housing

:03:40.:03:42.

The first images of what Grimsby Town's new stadium could look

:03:43.:03:48.

Extreme Leisure is leading the project to build a fourteen

:03:49.:03:54.

thousand seater stadium on the town's Peaks Parkway.

:03:55.:03:56.

A new ice rink, restaurants, shops and housing are

:03:57.:03:59.

The plans will go before the council's cabinet next month.

:04:00.:04:07.

Six months after the Lincolnshire town of Boston voted by the largest

:04:08.:04:10.

margin in the country to leave the European Union -

:04:11.:04:13.

many people there say they don't regret the way they voted.

:04:14.:04:20.

Back in June, three quarters of people in Boston backed Brexit.

:04:21.:04:22.

Our political editor, Tim Iredale, reports from the town.

:04:23.:04:25.

Few were surprised when Boston voted heavily in favour

:04:26.:04:32.

With its large migrant population - the town has been at the centre

:04:33.:04:36.

of the debate about the pros and cons of immigration.

:04:37.:04:38.

More than 75% of registered voters here chose to leave

:04:39.:04:41.

Less than a quarter wanted to remain.

:04:42.:04:48.

It was highest leave vote recorded anywhere

:04:49.:04:50.

Auditor Christopher Lewis was one of the many who voted to leave.

:04:51.:05:00.

we've just got to the foreign nationals and it's just taking too

:05:01.:05:05.

much pressure on local towns. Teacher Sophie Noone

:05:06.:05:07.

was one of the minority I thought it was the safer option,

:05:08.:05:18.

staying, for the country. Financially, and this stable option.

:05:19.:05:21.

Local Government Officer Alex Wilson voted to leave.

:05:22.:05:26.

It's a matter of people not from the EU getting in.

:05:27.:05:28.

Meanwhile, Students Aisha and Clare voted to remain.

:05:29.:05:32.

I don't think that there are enough people to do the jobs that Britain

:05:33.:05:40.

requires. I wanted to be part of the EU.

:05:41.:05:41.

But six months on - how do people view that

:05:42.:05:44.

Or are they happy with the way they voted?

:05:45.:05:49.

No regrets at all. I'm thinking of the children when they grow up. The

:05:50.:05:57.

town is overcrowded, which is a shame. I think it was just the safer

:05:58.:06:05.

option, still, to stay in the EU. I've no regrets. I'm not criticising

:06:06.:06:12.

the people that I hear it's the ones who shouldn't be here, is legally,

:06:13.:06:14.

from other countries within the world. I don't regret. I wish more

:06:15.:06:24.

people had voted remain. A lot of people say they wish they had. So,

:06:25.:06:32.

few regrets in the town voted Britain's Brexit capital.

:06:33.:06:37.

And now for the all-important Christmas forecast.

:06:38.:06:41.

The windy weather looks set to continue across

:06:42.:06:44.

the Christmas weekend and then things will quieten down next week.

:06:45.:06:47.

It's windy out there tonight - a few showers blowing through but

:06:48.:06:50.

generally a dry night and a chilly one too,

:06:51.:06:52.

with temperatures really dropping back to around 3 or 4 degrees.

:06:53.:06:55.

Some decent sunny spells tomorrow, but that wind will be

:06:56.:06:57.

gusty through the day, and we'll see a few showers too,

:06:58.:07:00.

You're more likely to get them the further north you are.

:07:01.:07:04.

But, on balance, a lot of dry weather and some sunshine,

:07:05.:07:06.

But cooler than today, with temperatures getting up to around

:07:07.:07:10.

Christmas Day itself looks very mild indeed.

:07:11.:07:12.

Quite cloudy, and then, later in the day, a spell of heavy

:07:13.:07:15.

That's it from the late team on Friday evening. We'll be back

:07:16.:07:29.

tomorrow evening. Goodbye. big day? Christmas Day. It will stay

:07:30.:07:34.

mild and temperatures could reach 14, 15. He is down bet that the

:07:35.:07:36.

national picture. It will be more northern parts of

:07:37.:07:46.

the UK that see the worst of the weather. Another storm is developing

:07:47.:07:53.

in the Atlantic. This will turn

:07:54.:07:54.
