We are back with the late news at 10.30pm. | :00:00. | :00:13.
Organisers say more than 340,000 visitors have come to Hull over | :00:14. | :00:18.
the last seven days, smashing all expectations | :00:19. | :00:22.
for the opening week of City of Culture. | :00:23. | :00:24.
And after a week of fireworks and light displays, today the latest | :00:25. | :00:27.
art installation was moved into place, a 75-metre wind | :00:28. | :00:37.
turbine blade in the heart of the city centre. | :00:38. | :00:40.
Here's our culture correspondent, Anne-Marie Tasker. | :00:41. | :00:41.
It was City of Culture's surprise event, and you couldn't have | :00:42. | :00:44.
A 75-metre long, 28-tonne wind turbine blade, transported | :00:45. | :00:47.
into the heart of Hull city centre and transformed into a work of art. | :00:48. | :01:05.
Hull, in 2017, is where they are made so you get | :01:06. | :01:08.
It's made here, made by the people of Hull. | :01:09. | :01:12.
We'e got a symbolic form and an actual form of its power, | :01:13. | :01:15.
then it becomes self-evident, logical. | :01:16. | :01:16.
The operation to move it from the factory began at 1.45am, | :01:17. | :01:20.
the two miles taking around four hours. | :01:21. | :01:22.
And the journey posed some real challenges. | :01:23. | :01:24.
All 75 metres of the Blade have got to squeeze around this tight bend. | :01:25. | :01:27.
They've already taken out the streetlights, | :01:28. | :01:29.
the traffic lights and the barriers, but they still only have a few | :01:30. | :01:32.
meters to spare between the court building and King Billy up there. | :01:33. | :01:34.
By 10am, the supports and cranes were ready to start lifting it | :01:35. | :01:37.
into position and it had drawn quite a crowd. | :01:38. | :01:42.
Just like last week, it's been totally amazing. | :01:43. | :01:47.
A massive, massive positive for Hull. | :01:48. | :01:53.
I think it should stay for longer than two months, | :01:54. | :01:55.
because I think it's really good, really. | :01:56. | :02:03.
It's quite daunting, seeing its size out here | :02:04. | :02:05.
when you're used to seeing it inside the factory. | :02:06. | :02:07.
Bringing it out into the daylight, it's even more impressive. | :02:08. | :02:10.
As a local girl, I'm quite thrilled that, for me, | :02:11. | :02:12.
this monument is quite iconic but I'm part of the next piece | :02:13. | :02:15.
of Hull's iconic structure so I'm proud as anything. | :02:16. | :02:17.
The Blade is one of a series of sculptures being shown | :02:18. | :02:20.
during City of Culture, and the impact of this one | :02:21. | :02:23.
came as a surprise even to the people who'd planned it. | :02:24. | :02:25.
I did an artist's impression of it but nothing prepares | :02:26. | :02:28.
Hours later, the blade was finally in position and it will stay | :02:29. | :02:36.
here to be seen touched and driven under for the next 10 weeks. | :02:37. | :02:39.
Anne-Marie Tasker, BBC Look North, Hull. | :02:40. | :02:45.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the death of a 23-year-old | :02:46. | :02:48.
They were called to the A1104 at Miles Cross Hill near Alford | :02:49. | :02:56.
at about 5am yesterday morning after reports of a man | :02:57. | :02:58.
His death is currently being treated as unexplained. | :02:59. | :03:03.
Volunteers have been collecting Christmas trees | :03:04. | :03:05.
in Lincolnshire today, which they hope can be used in flood | :03:06. | :03:07.
The collection in Cleethorpes is part of a wider plan co-ordinated | :03:08. | :03:12.
It's hoped hundreds of trees can be used to help coastal flood defences. | :03:13. | :03:16.
They'll be put in place in the coming weeks. | :03:17. | :03:22.
We ask for ?5 a tree, so it's a big money raiser for us | :03:23. | :03:26.
This year we've come up with the idea of using the trees | :03:27. | :03:31.
to stabilise the sand dunes along the coast, especially | :03:32. | :03:33.
I'm a big believer in recycling so I like to see things | :03:34. | :03:39.
Also, the whole thing about protecting the coastlines | :03:40. | :03:42.
and the sand dunes was a really good thing to me. | :03:43. | :04:04.
The Lincoln City manager Danny Cowley has described his | :04:05. | :04:07.
side's FA Cup performance against Ipswich as | :04:08. | :04:08.
5,000 Imps fans travelled to Ipswich for yesterday's game. | :04:09. | :04:11.
And their team, who are having a great season, almost | :04:12. | :04:14.
They led the Championship side, who are three divisions above them, | :04:15. | :04:18.
Both goals for city came from Theo Robinson. | :04:19. | :04:21.
It ended 2-2, though, and will now go to a replay. | :04:22. | :04:23.
And you can head to our Facebook page for a special video, | :04:24. | :04:26.
put together by Lincoln City fans and BBC Radio Lincolnshire, looking | :04:27. | :04:29.
Hull City fans need to help the side by coming to games, | :04:30. | :04:35.
rather than staying away in protest at the owners. | :04:36. | :04:40.
That's according to new head coach, Marco Silva, who led the side | :04:41. | :04:43.
to victory in his first game in charge yesterday. | :04:44. | :04:45.
The Tigers beat Swansea 2-0 in the FA Cup through second half | :04:46. | :04:48.
But less than 6,500 city fans were at the match, | :04:49. | :04:54.
and the manager says they're needed to lift the players. | :04:55. | :05:00.
And now the weather, with Jennifer Bartram. | :05:01. | :05:03.
We've seen a fair amount of cloud around today and into this evening | :05:04. | :05:08.
and the overnight period, that cloud is going to increase. | :05:09. | :05:11.
We may still see a few patches of mist and fog here and there, | :05:12. | :05:14.
maybe even a bit of light rain or drizzle but the temperatures | :05:15. | :05:17.
overnight will fall down to around 5 or 6 Celsius, | :05:18. | :05:20.
It will start to turn windy overnight, though, and we have that | :05:21. | :05:24.
Gradually, we'll also start to see some spells of rain as we push | :05:25. | :05:28.
through into the early part of the afternoon. | :05:29. | :05:31.
Behind it, clearer skies and it will be feeling a bit colder, | :05:32. | :05:36.
temperatures up to a high of around 9 Celsius. | :05:37. | :05:38.
Into Tuesday, another fairly cloudy day. | :05:39. | :05:39.
It stays quite breezy but it is turning colder with some | :05:40. | :05:42.
wintery showers by the end of the week. | :05:43. | :05:50.
That's all from us for now, but we're back later tonight, | :05:51. | :05:53.
at the slightly later time of 10.50pm. | :05:54. | :05:58.
After a dull weekend for many of us, the weather gets shaken to life this | :05:59. | :06:16.
week. The real driver for the first wake-up call is low pressure pushing | :06:17. | :06:22.
towards Iceland, it will throw this weather front Alloway and before | :06:23. | :06:24.
that we have the south-westerly wind, another misty and foggy night | :06:25. | :06:29.
for England and Wales, | :06:30. | :06:30. |
