Hello and welcome to Tuesday's Look North. In tonight's headlines: | :00:03. | :00:12.
Tragedy on the way home. A bus driver says he could do | :00:12. | :00:17.
nothing to prevent the death of these two teenagers and a pensioner. | :00:17. | :00:19.
A Newcastle-based private investigator is accused of trying | :00:19. | :00:20.
to access Gordon Brown's personal files. | :00:21. | :00:24.
The lengths this devoted mum is prepared to go to give her son a | :00:24. | :00:34.

shot at Broadway. It's going to be more than 30,000 per year, but so | :00:35. | :00:39.
far I have remortgaged my house. And, magical maze. The tourist | :00:39. | :00:44.
attraction that's a unique tribute to Harry Potter. | :00:44. | :00:47.
In sport - Derbyshire give Durham the Colly wobbles with a bid to | :00:47. | :00:50.
sign one of their top cricketers. And we meet some of Steve Bruce's | :00:50. | :01:00.
:01:00. | :01:09. | ||
"Carnage" is the way one witness described the scene of the Keswick | :01:09. | :01:12.
Bus crash which left two teenagers and a car driver dead. But along | :01:12. | :01:15.
with descriptions of that terrible scene, the inquest into the deaths | :01:15. | :01:17.
has heard stories of heroism and bravery. | :01:17. | :01:19.
15-year-old Kieran Goulding, 16- year-old Chloe Walker and 68-year- | :01:19. | :01:25.
old Patrick Short all died on 24th May last year. Alison Freeman has | :01:25. | :01:29.
been at the inquest for us which is being held in Cleator Moor. Alison, | :01:29. | :01:39.
what did we learn today? As you can imagine, it has been a hugely | :01:39. | :01:43.
emotional day of evidence. We heard from the families of those who died, | :01:43. | :01:47.
but also some important witness statements from David Ratcliffe, | :01:47. | :01:50.
the bus driver on the day, who said he did everything he could to try | :01:50. | :01:56.
and avoid the crash. He said he had also physically recovered from the | :01:56. | :02:00.
accident but since had to give up bus driving. He was praised for his | :02:00. | :02:06.
actions while the witnesses here today. | :02:06. | :02:11.
-- by eight the other witnesses here today. It was a hot sunny day | :02:11. | :02:14.
in May when a car drove onto the wrong side of the A66 towards a | :02:14. | :02:18.
school bus. Driver David Ratcliffe told the inquest how he tried to | :02:18. | :02:21.
swerve and only clip the car but the following impact caused the | :02:21. | :02:24.
front of the bus to 'explode' and roll onto its side. He told the | :02:24. | :02:26.
court: "I thought we were all goners". | :02:26. | :02:28.
Witnesses arriving moments later described an eerie silence, until | :02:28. | :02:33.
the youngsters started crying. The children and the bus driver were | :02:33. | :02:35.
praised for their bravery, many ignoring their own injuries to help | :02:36. | :02:40.
others. But two youngsters were beyond help. Keiran Goulding and | :02:40. | :02:43.
Chloe Walker had been thrown under the bus, killed instantly by their | :02:43. | :02:47.
injuries. The court heard today that neither teenager wore a | :02:47. | :02:51.
seatbelt. Chloe had been knelt up talking to a friend and Kieran | :02:52. | :02:56.
standing when the impact happened. Keiran's mother Tracey Nicholson | :02:56. | :03:00.
was extremely upset throughout the day's evidence. In a statement read | :03:00. | :03:10.
:03:10. | :03:18. | ||
Chloe's parents chose not to attend. In a statement her dad said she had | :03:18. | :03:21.
gone to school that day, despite being allowed to study at home, as | :03:21. | :03:31.
:03:31. | :03:35. | ||
it was her birthday and wanted to No reason was found today as to why | :03:35. | :03:39.
Patrick Short was driving on the wrong side of the A66. His diabetes | :03:39. | :03:44.
was all-but ruled out as a cause. But his wife Margrit Scott told the | :03:44. | :03:53.
inquest he would have been "totally devastated" by what happened. A | :03:53. | :03:56.
heartbreaking story. Did we hear any more about the exact cause of | :03:56. | :04:03.
the crash? A lot of attention has been paid to Patrick Short and why | :04:03. | :04:07.
he might have been driving on the wrong side of the road. A medical | :04:07. | :04:11.
experts ruled out died BT's been a contributory factor to that, but | :04:11. | :04:14.
did say that they may never find out if there was a medical | :04:14. | :04:18.
condition which caused him to be on the wrong side of the road. We will | :04:18. | :04:21.
get more from crash scene investigators later in the week and | :04:21. | :04:25.
the inquest is due to end on Thursday. | :04:25. | :04:28.
A private investigator from the north has been accused of targeting | :04:28. | :04:31.
the former Prime Minister, Gordon Brown. It's claimed that Glen | :04:31. | :04:33.
Lawson, who's based in Newcastle, sought access to police records to | :04:33. | :04:36.
uncover information on the former Labour leader, and on Newcastle | :04:36. | :04:39.
East MP, Nick Brown. It's alleged he did it for unidentified | :04:39. | :04:43.
journalists. It's the latest of many allegations in the phone- | :04:43. | :04:49.
hacking scandal. Keith Akehurst reports. | :04:49. | :04:52.
The hacking scandal shows no signs of abating, and now some | :04:52. | :04:55.
accusations point towards Tyneside. The Guardian newspaper alleges that | :04:55. | :04:57.
a private investigator from Newcastle commissioned a search of | :04:57. | :05:00.
police records for information about former Prime Minister Gordon | :05:00. | :05:07.
Brown in November 2000. And that Glen Lawson of Abbey Investigations | :05:07. | :05:09.
also targeted two other Labour politicians including Newcastle | :05:09. | :05:19.
:05:19. | :05:23. | ||
East MP Nick Brown. Glenn Lawson rents a room at this business | :05:23. | :05:27.
centre which is run by Newcastle City Council and their receptionist | :05:27. | :05:31.
told us that he worked alone and he had not been seen here today. When | :05:31. | :05:34.
reached by a BBC colleague Mr Lawson said, "I've no comment to | :05:34. | :05:37.
make. Thank you.". Although, Nick Brown was alerted by the police | :05:37. | :05:40.
seven years ago, the revelations of the last 24 hours have surprised | :05:40. | :05:47.
him. The revelations in today's Guardian newspaper tell me more | :05:47. | :05:50.
than I knew. There is also a question as to why the individual | :05:50. | :05:56.
who is alleged to have commissioned the wrong doing was not himself | :05:56. | :06:01.
prosecuted. In addition, the former cabinet minister is scathing about | :06:01. | :06:05.
the treatment of Gordon Brown. is alleged is absolutely | :06:05. | :06:11.
heartbreaking, that anyone could sink so low as to ring up any human | :06:11. | :06:16.
being and say that they had got a child's health records and they | :06:16. | :06:22.
would publish them. That is a despicable thing to have happened | :06:22. | :06:26.
to any mother and father, and to have it happen to a friend of yours | :06:26. | :06:31.
is very distressing and the individuals concerned should be so | :06:31. | :06:34.
it -- thoroughly ashamed of themselves. This scandal has a long | :06:34. | :06:44.
:06:44. | :06:47. | ||
A man's been charged with arson and murder following the death of a | :06:48. | :06:50.
Redcar pensioner. 77-year-old Terry McGlade was found dead in a house | :06:50. | :06:53.
fire at his home on Pennine Crescent early on Saturday morning. | :06:53. | :06:56.
A 50-year-old man will appear before Teesside Magistrates Court | :06:56. | :07:00.
today. And police are investigating the | :07:00. | :07:05.
death of two people in County Durham. 51-year-old James McAndrew | :07:05. | :07:08.
and 36 year-old Helen Swan were found at a house on John Street in | :07:08. | :07:11.
Black Hill, near Consett. Post mortem examinations are being | :07:11. | :07:14.
carried out. Lord Sebastian Coe has been | :07:14. | :07:16.
presented with an honorary doctorate at Sunderland University | :07:16. | :07:25.
by his old running rival, Steve Cram. Lord Coe beat his Great | :07:25. | :07:28.
Britain team-mate to the Olympic gold medal in the final of the 1500 | :07:28. | :07:31.
metres at the Los Angeles games in 1984. The silver medallist is now | :07:31. | :07:34.
Chancellor of Sunderland University, and handed over the award for Lord | :07:34. | :07:37.
Coe's contribution to sport and his leadership of the successful 2012 | :07:37. | :07:39.
Olympic bid. Before the ceremony, the double-Olympic champion spoke | :07:39. | :07:42.
about disappointment in Sunderland that it would miss out on an | :07:42. | :07:49.
overnight stop for the Olympic Torch. | :07:49. | :07:53.
We took local advice. These are never easy decisions. There are | :07:53. | :07:58.
always going to be arguments about where and where they should be. We | :07:58. | :08:02.
do plan a very big send-off the following morning in Sunderland. | :08:02. | :08:08.
That will be with the torch. But I recognise local rivalries and I | :08:08. | :08:14.
recognise the challenge we have had in choosing those stopovers, but it | :08:14. | :08:20.
is actually very important that the region is represented in a very big | :08:20. | :08:25.
way, and that will happen. value of horse racing to the | :08:25. | :08:27.
economy of Yorkshire has been revealed for the first time. New | :08:27. | :08:30.
research claims the sport brings in hundreds of million of pounds, and | :08:30. | :08:33.
supports thousands of jobs. Our Business Correspondent, Ian Reeve, | :08:33. | :08:41.
reports. They settle down and fight it out. | :08:41. | :08:44.
It's not just exciting finishes, like this one at York, that | :08:44. | :08:51.
Yorkshire's racecourses give us. According to new research the nine | :08:51. | :08:54.
courses pump nearly 230 million a year into the county's economy, and | :08:54. | :08:56.
are directly responsible for 2,300 jobs. And it's not just punters | :08:56. | :09:03.
paying entrance fees that make up the figures. So off-course spending | :09:03. | :09:08.
on things like hotels and food is nearly 30 million. Bookmakers at | :09:08. | :09:12.
the courses make over 1 million. And caterers do pretty well too, | :09:13. | :09:15.
making over 11 million. All very interesting but why tot up the | :09:16. | :09:21.
figures. Well, in part, the courses are making a point to local | :09:21. | :09:23.
authorities. All of them are looking to diversify into things | :09:23. | :09:26.
like car boot sales and pop concerts, or build new stands. They | :09:26. | :09:32.
all need licences and permissions. So the subtle message here then is, | :09:32. | :09:35.
"Look how important we are, 228 million of importance, so listen to | :09:35. | :09:43.
what we want.'. It is always handy to say that we are able to bring | :09:43. | :09:47.
this money in and a lot of jobs for the local economy. It is always | :09:48. | :09:52.
healthy when you have a project like we have got going on in the | :09:52. | :09:56.
background, with extra refurbishments and things like that. | :09:56. | :09:59.
Around one million people go racing in Yorkshire every year, giving | :09:59. | :10:02.
that big boost to the economy. And they just thought they were having | :10:02. | :10:12.
:10:12. | :10:15. | ||
When a ton and a half of lead was stolen from the roof of a Cumbrian | :10:15. | :10:18.
church, leaving it with a repair bill of 30,000, there were fears | :10:18. | :10:21.
it would have to close. But such was the strength of feeling at St | :10:21. | :10:24.
Michael's in Shap parishioners have already raised 12,000 to keep it | :10:24. | :10:28.
going. Last week, a local man was jailed for two years after | :10:28. | :10:33.
admitting the theft. Mark McAlindon reports. It has stood for more than | :10:33. | :10:39.
1,000 years. But the theft this year of lead from the roof has left | :10:39. | :10:42.
the reverend here battling to save the church as rain water can now | :10:42. | :10:49.
pour in. I was extremely worried. The thought of not being able to do | :10:49. | :10:53.
anything was quite bleak. Insurance wouldn't cover the repair bill, so | :10:53. | :11:00.
the only thing left was to appeal to the generosity of local people. | :11:00. | :11:06.
We had to raise 32,500. The only way to do that was launched a local | :11:06. | :11:12.
appeal and about one month ago we sent out envelopes to every | :11:12. | :11:16.
household and about 600 envelopes went out, and over the last month | :11:16. | :11:20.
they have slowly started to return, and the good news is we have so far | :11:20. | :11:25.
raised around 12,000. For the last week a man was jailed for two years | :11:25. | :11:29.
for admitting the theft. But the Reverend refuses to feel any | :11:29. | :11:35.
bitterness. You can't be angry. He has been sentenced now. There is | :11:35. | :11:39.
nothing we can do about that. He has lost his liberty for quite some | :11:39. | :11:46.
time. It is just very sad. There has been a place of worship here | :11:46. | :11:53.
since around 750 BC and the Church -- around 750 Addy and another 1012 | :11:53. | :11:57.
and -- 1,200 years. The strength of the response from the local | :11:57. | :12:01.
community means that was it will continue here for the foreseeable | :12:01. | :12:06.
future. -- that worship will continue here. | :12:06. | :12:12.
Plenty more to come in tonight's programme. We meet the mum bullies | :12:12. | :12:17.
remortgaging her home to give her son a chance of stardom and we | :12:17. | :12:20.
report from the first day of the Great Yorkshire Show. And I will be | :12:20. | :12:26.
here with the weather forecast for the Yorkshire Show and the rest of | :12:26. | :12:33.
the north-east and Cumbria. It is one of the highlights of the | :12:33. | :12:37.
summer, and thousands of people are in Harrogate for the Great | :12:37. | :12:40.
Yorkshire Show. It is a showcase for Yorkshire life and tomorrow the | :12:40. | :12:50.
:12:50. | :12:56. | ||
crowds will be joined by Prince It takes all sorts to make a show | :12:56. | :13:01.
and some of it makes you feel dizzy. They are pulling out fantastic | :13:01. | :13:05.
times like nine or 10 seconds. When I was competing here years ago a | :13:06. | :13:09.
good time would be 11 seconds and I was over the moon with that. Now | :13:09. | :13:14.
they are pulling out nine seconds. It is unbelievable. He can be | :13:14. | :13:19.
dangerous at times, but all the safety is in line and it is all | :13:19. | :13:23.
legitimate and all good. Most are not here for the adrenaline rush. | :13:23. | :13:26.
The Great Yorkshire Show dates back to the 1830s. It's been on this | :13:26. | :13:36.
site for 60 years. This is one of the most so real attraction. Real | :13:36. | :13:40.
Scarborough sand, 10 tons of it from the beach, and over here is a | :13:40. | :13:43.
real Scarborough donkey. This is William, and I think he is looking | :13:43. | :13:49.
for the sea, but he won't find it in Harrogate. Over here is Gary, so | :13:49. | :13:53.
tell me how important the show is to Yorkshire. It is the largest | :13:53. | :13:59.
agricultural event in the UK. 150,000 people over three days, so | :13:59. | :14:02.
it is really important for Harrogate, this part of North | :14:02. | :14:05.
Yorkshire and for Yorkshire as a whole. Tomorrow, Charles and | :14:05. | :14:11.
Camilla will be here. Interest keeps growing. Last year 130,000 | :14:11. | :14:18.
people came over three days. We put on a good show, and a reputation | :14:18. | :14:23.
has built up over the years and it is now spreading further afield. I | :14:23. | :14:31.
think that is what we try to deliver, what people want. | :14:31. | :14:39.
How far would you go to secure your child's dream? Well, a mum from | :14:39. | :14:41.
Sunderland has re-mortgaged her home so that her talented teenage | :14:41. | :14:45.
son can go to stage school in New York. Baden Burns won a coveted | :14:45. | :14:48.
spot at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. It's going to | :14:48. | :14:56.
cost 30,000 a year. But far from being put off, his mum Anita has | :14:56. | :15:06.
:15:06. | :15:08. | ||
swung into action to try to make it all happen. The stars they liked | :15:08. | :15:12.
the night, like the sun in the morning light. Walleye note is that | :15:12. | :15:17.
I'll be there someday. -- all I know is that of the their Sunday. | :15:17. | :15:21.
And these stars will light the way. This Nineteen-year-old does not | :15:21. | :15:25.
just seemed about the stars, he dreams about being one as well, and | :15:25. | :15:29.
he made his performance debut at the age of five and has been acting | :15:29. | :15:33.
dancing and singing ever since. have always been quite a shy person, | :15:34. | :15:38.
but on stage I can be myself without being judged. It is fun to | :15:38. | :15:44.
be judged for the audience and it is a proper cake. And it is this | :15:44. | :15:50.
passion that led him to audition at the New York conservatory for | :15:50. | :15:55.
dramatic parts. I thought the most ambitious place was a crack at New | :15:55. | :15:59.
York, so I went to the audition and there were loads of people and it | :15:59. | :16:05.
was quite scary and I felt pretty out of place. It turns out that I | :16:05. | :16:12.
got in. This opportunity to train as a film and TV actor in the first | :16:12. | :16:15.
two years and a stage performer in the third comes with a yearly price | :16:15. | :16:20.
tag of more than 30,000, but his mum a meter isn't letting a figure | :16:20. | :16:26.
like that get in the way of his dream -- his mother and metre. | :16:26. | :16:32.
have remortgaged the house for 27,000. It does not even cover the | :16:32. | :16:36.
first year, but we do have other bits. That includes money earned | :16:36. | :16:40.
from busking, a 10,000 pound Career Development Loan and donations from | :16:40. | :16:45.
his grandparents. But with so much at stake is the pressure on for him | :16:45. | :16:51.
to succeed? There is no pressure. It is an opportunity. I want him to | :16:51. | :16:56.
have that opportunity. It is there, and you have to do it. He flies to | :16:56. | :17:06.
:17:06. | :17:08. | ||
Good luck to you. The Things We do for our kids? That is above and | :17:08. | :17:12.
beyond. We will tell you how he gets on. | :17:12. | :17:15.
Well, it's been a very busy summer for Sunderland boss Steve Bruce. | :17:15. | :17:18.
He's already signed nine players, and could still add more to his | :17:18. | :17:23.
squad. Today the Black Cats' new look side was in pre-season | :17:23. | :17:26.
training and Katie Gornall went to meet some of the new names on | :17:26. | :17:31.
Wearside. It was a bit like the first day of | :17:31. | :17:33.
school for Sunderland's players with new faces on the training | :17:33. | :17:38.
pitch and it is the calibre of signings like Wes Brown and John | :17:38. | :17:41.
O'Shea that persuaded the Black cats latest recruits to sign on the | :17:41. | :17:46.
dotted line. Some of the players they have already signed was a big | :17:46. | :17:50.
incentive, and just the ambition of the club on the size of the club is | :17:50. | :17:54.
there for everyone to see. You need a strong squad and last season some | :17:54. | :17:58.
of them were on fire at the start of the season, but with injuries | :17:58. | :18:03.
and suspensions they blow up, but that will hopefully not be the case, | :18:03. | :18:07.
and the squad is strong. Sunderland fans hope Craig Gardner will repeat | :18:07. | :18:11.
the form that saw him score 10 goals from midfield last season. He | :18:11. | :18:17.
has been joined on Sunderland by his former Birmingham team-mate | :18:17. | :18:21.
Sebastian Larsson. I have worked with the gaffer before, and when he | :18:21. | :18:26.
showed interest it was nice to know what you're coming to. And about | :18:26. | :18:29.
what he thought about and all of his staff. That was a big part of | :18:29. | :18:35.
it. And amongst some seasoned Premier League stars were -- are a | :18:35. | :18:38.
player yet to feature in the top flight, but that could change for | :18:38. | :18:42.
Kieran West would, with Craig court and out injured, has every chance | :18:42. | :18:47.
of becoming the new No. 1. -- Craig Gordon out injured. It is almost | :18:47. | :18:51.
like a whole new team at Sunderland. Not all of the new signings are | :18:51. | :18:55.
here as some are yet to link up with the team but will do so ahead | :18:55. | :18:58.
of the pre-season trip to Germany. The fans will get a chance to see | :18:58. | :19:03.
the rest at York City tomorrow night. | :19:03. | :19:05.
Middlesbrough goalkeeper Jason Steele will miss the start of the | :19:05. | :19:09.
new season after breaking a bone in his wrist. The 20-year-old picked | :19:09. | :19:13.
up the injury in training this morning and will be out for up to | :19:13. | :19:15.
three months. Boro's first choice keeper had only just returned from | :19:16. | :19:18.
England Under-21 duty. He'll now be replaced by teenager Connor Ripley | :19:18. | :19:28.
:19:28. | :19:29. | ||
as the squad set off for a pre- It's the dream of many a schoolboy | :19:29. | :19:32.
to make it as a professional footballer and now a school in | :19:32. | :19:35.
County Durham is hoping to help them realise that dream. Greenfield | :19:35. | :19:38.
Community College in Newton Aycliffe is setting up a football | :19:38. | :19:40.
academy with the help of former Sunderland and Darlington player | :19:40. | :19:44.
Martin Gray which is thought to be the first of its kind in the | :19:44. | :19:51.
country. Other schools and colleges may have Football academies, but | :19:51. | :19:55.
this one will be different, taking boys and girls between the ages of | :19:55. | :19:58.
11 and 16. It will combine the physical side with education on a | :19:58. | :20:02.
football theme and will be no easy option. It is very, very | :20:02. | :20:06.
disciplined and they have to meet the levels that they are set before | :20:06. | :20:10.
they come into the academy. If the grades drop off, the academy gets | :20:10. | :20:14.
away from them. They will work closely with the skill to make sure | :20:14. | :20:16.
that the high standard of qualifications within the | :20:16. | :20:20.
enrichment programme is delivered. Martin was one of the lucky ones to | :20:20. | :20:23.
make as a professional with Sunderland and Darlington but | :20:23. | :20:26.
acknowledges he could have done better at school. So he has | :20:26. | :20:30.
recruited his old teacher to help out. Martin will say he never got | :20:30. | :20:34.
anything out of school like what he wanted and he sees a need for | :20:34. | :20:37.
children to keep engaged and keep learning. The beauty of the project | :20:37. | :20:41.
is that Martin is working with elite footballers and I am bridging | :20:41. | :20:44.
the learning gap to make sure they are engaged in learning whether | :20:44. | :20:49.
they are not playing football, that they are learning is continuing. | :20:49. | :20:52.
Competition for places will be tough, but for those who make the | :20:52. | :20:56.
great -- graded is a chance to live the dream. Since I was young I | :20:56. | :20:59.
wanted to play football and I have not had opportunities to become | :20:59. | :21:03.
professional but this has given me a great opportunity. I am excited | :21:03. | :21:08.
about it. It is a fabulous opportunity and the best 40 | :21:08. | :21:10.
children will be hand-picked, starting this Wednesday evening | :21:10. | :21:14.
from the school trials. Hopefully we can find one or two in the next | :21:14. | :21:18.
two or three years and promote them and hopefully help someone on their | :21:18. | :21:24.
way. Let's hope so. Cricket, and Derbyshire have made | :21:24. | :21:26.
an audacious bid to sign Durham all-rounder and former England | :21:26. | :21:29.
captain Paul Collingwood. The county has tabled a 28-day notice | :21:29. | :21:32.
on the player which means they can't officially speak to him until | :21:32. | :21:34.
the end of that period. However, Look North understands the | :21:34. | :21:37.
championship leaders are prepared to allow the 35-year-old to see | :21:37. | :21:39.
what second division Derbyshire have to offer, although they hope | :21:39. | :21:42.
he'll stay with his home county. Collingwood still has more than a | :21:42. | :21:45.
year to run on his contract at Durham where he's recently returned | :21:45. | :21:49.
to regular action after six years with England. | :21:49. | :21:51.
His knock of 24 against Warwickshire last night wasn't | :21:52. | :21:54.
enough to help Durham avoid their second Twenty20 defeat on the trot | :21:55. | :21:59.
though. In a nail-biting finish it went right down to the wire with | :22:00. | :22:05.
the Dynamos losing on the last ball of the game at Edgbaston. They now | :22:05. | :22:08.
have to beat Northants on Thursday and hope other results go their way | :22:08. | :22:13.
to have any hope of making it through to the quarter finals. | :22:13. | :22:16.
Meanwhile Yorkshire are in the driving seat on the second day of | :22:16. | :22:19.
their County Championship match against Worcestershire. After | :22:19. | :22:22.
dismissing the visitors for 168, captain Andrew Gale and fast bowler | :22:22. | :22:24.
Ajmal Shazad hit impressive half centuries to take Yorkshire to 367 | :22:24. | :22:33.
in reply. Was to shut our 82-4 in the second innings -- | :22:33. | :22:36.
Worcestershire are 82-4. Pottermania seems to be sweeping | :22:36. | :22:39.
the country again, with the final chapter of the boy wizard saga set | :22:39. | :22:44.
for release in cinemas this Friday. And in North Yorkshire, one man's | :22:44. | :22:48.
come up with his own special tribute to Harry Potter. | :22:48. | :22:51.
To find out more, Charlotte Leeming's been taking a bird's eye | :22:51. | :22:58.
view. When the final Harry Potter film is | :22:58. | :23:01.
released later this week it will mark the end of the most successful | :23:01. | :23:07.
movie franchise the world has seen. As excitement from the fans bills, | :23:07. | :23:11.
a tourist attraction near York has come up with a unique way to pay | :23:11. | :23:21.
:23:21. | :23:25. | ||
tribute to the boy was it. -- the Yes, amongst the pathways of the | :23:25. | :23:28.
York a maze, a very special pattern has been cut into the hedge row. It | :23:28. | :23:33.
is difficult to detect on the round -- ground, but becomes clear from | :23:33. | :23:39.
the sky. Could this be the world's biggest puzzle? Two giant portraits | :23:39. | :23:43.
of Harry Potter have been cut into the field. There are a few subtle | :23:43. | :23:48.
differences which any the Eagle eyed will spot. We are flying high | :23:48. | :23:52.
above it and you can see the hard work which has gone into it. The | :23:52. | :23:58.
farmer designing the images used one million effects to create the | :23:58. | :24:04.
camp. I think I might appreciated a bit more when I am back down on her. | :24:04. | :24:09.
Teller's first of all why do Harry Potter theme this year? It was a | :24:09. | :24:13.
bit of a family argument. My son and I were discussing it and I | :24:13. | :24:16.
wanted to do the biggest spot the difference competition and my five | :24:16. | :24:21.
year-old son wanted something to do with Harry Potter. We eventually | :24:21. | :24:26.
settled on a compromise. It is a tribute to Harry Potter in the form | :24:26. | :24:29.
of the world's biggest spot the difference competition. We have | :24:29. | :24:32.
applied to the Guinness Book of World Records and hopefully we | :24:32. | :24:36.
might get there and my son is happy because we have a bit of Harry | :24:36. | :24:42.
Potter. So for Harry Potter maniacs this is an interesting maniac -- is | :24:42. | :24:48.
as interesting way to get lost in the excitement. It is amazing. I | :24:48. | :24:52.
hope he doesn't dress up like that when he is getting a harvest in! | :24:52. | :25:01.
Not the most blazing hot of weeks in July. Let's look at the headline | :25:01. | :25:05.
for tomorrow, and it will be fairly cold, a chilly breeze, but spells | :25:05. | :25:10.
of sunshine. We will get pretty much a dry night through the | :25:10. | :25:13.
evening and overnight for most evenings -- through most places. | :25:13. | :25:17.
But quite chilly, and the temperatures dipping to around | :25:17. | :25:23.
eight Celsius also where the skies are clear. Quite a cold July night | :25:23. | :25:27.
to come. Through the morning, lots of sunshine at first, particularly | :25:27. | :25:31.
in the north-east and for Northumberland, very pleasant on | :25:31. | :25:35.
the coast. But always a chilly breeze, especially down the coast, | :25:35. | :25:40.
and in the West we could see showers. There are one or two | :25:40. | :25:43.
showers in North Yorkshire and the temperatures are down on what we | :25:43. | :25:48.
would expect in the time of year. Just 16 or 17 Celsius, and 14 on | :25:48. | :25:52.
the coast of Northumberland. It is all because of the chilly, | :25:52. | :25:55.
northerly flow knocking the temperatures back. Turning to the | :25:55. | :25:59.
West, one or two showers for the Lake District. Temperatures on the | :25:59. | :26:02.
low side as well. The average for the time of year would be more like | :26:02. | :26:09.
19 or 20 Celsius. Here is the big picture. A ridge of high pressure | :26:09. | :26:12.
means a fine day on Thursday, probably the best of the week, | :26:12. | :26:17.
before it topples in from the West with low pressure splashing in and | :26:17. | :26:21.
wet-weather on Friday and it lasts through the start of the weekend. A | :26:21. | :26:25.
bit of a squeeze on the isobars, and when they are closer together, | :26:25. | :26:30.
but closer to the white lines, the stronger the winds. A little more | :26:30. | :26:36.
detail. A pleasant day on Thursday in Cumbria. Temperatures recovering | :26:36. | :26:40.
to the average before a wet Friday and a wet start to Saturday which | :26:40. | :26:44.
should clear through the afternoon into sunshine and showers. But | :26:44. | :26:48.
still the temperatures tending to be on the lower side. In the north- | :26:48. | :26:54.
east, a similar picture. Great for the cricket on Thursday, 21 Celsius | :26:54. | :26:57.
and very pleasant, but then the weather system brings cloud on | :26:57. | :27:02.
Friday and showers on Saturday. Your forecast for the Great | :27:02. | :27:05.
Yorkshire Show, looking good in the Vale of York, particularly on | :27:05. | :27:11.
Thursday. Fine skies for the event. Miserable at the weekend. A | :27:11. | :27:19.
There is pressure on News Corporation increasing with fresh | :27:19. | :27:23.
accusations from the former prime minister Gordon Brown. An inquest | :27:23. | :27:26. |
