Hello, and welcome to Look North. In tonight's programme: | :00:02. | :00:05.
MPs call for an end to windfarm subsidies - is it time to call a | :00:05. | :00:09.
halt to the North's windrush? Stupidity or worse? A reward is | :00:09. | :00:12.
offered after a mountain bike track is sabotaged, with potentially | :00:12. | :00:15.
lethal results. They're going to pedal their own | :00:15. | :00:19.
pedalo again. These two vow to make it across the Atlantic, despite | :00:19. | :00:24.
three almost heroic failures. And are we ready for the electric | :00:24. | :00:28.
car? It's claimed the North East has the most charging points in the | :00:28. | :00:32.
country. We test if there are enough to keep us on the move. | :00:32. | :00:35.
And in sport, it's another Tees Wear derby. We'll be live at the | :00:35. | :00:38.
Riverside ahead of the FA Cup fourth round replay. | :00:38. | :00:41.
Can Middlesbrough repeat their 1975 Cup victory over Sunderland or will | :00:41. | :00:51.
:00:51. | :00:59. | ||
the Premier League's form team meet Has the tide turned for windfarms? | :00:59. | :01:02.
More than 100 Conservative MPs have written to the Prime Minister | :01:02. | :01:05.
demanding a dramatic cut to the hundreds of millions of pounds in | :01:05. | :01:07.
subsidies paid to windfarm operators from our electricity | :01:07. | :01:12.
bills. Only one Labour MP signed the letter - the Workington MP Tony | :01:12. | :01:16.
Cunningham. He says Cumbria has too many windfarms and a recent | :01:16. | :01:26.
planning decision seems to support Love them or loathe them, wind | :01:26. | :01:29.
turbines are now a very familiar feature of our landscape. But here | :01:29. | :01:33.
in the North, do we have more than our fair share? The Workington MP | :01:33. | :01:43.
:01:43. | :01:45. | ||
says enough is enough. I take my little boy down to the harbour and | :01:45. | :01:48.
whippy look north, south, east or west, all you can see his wind | :01:48. | :01:53.
turbines. We accepted the responsibility for a new nuclear | :01:53. | :01:58.
power station. We have had an offshore wind from Rick that | :01:58. | :02:02.
creates electricity for half of Cumbria but to stick two or three | :02:02. | :02:06.
when turbines in a field next to a village creating enough electricity | :02:06. | :02:10.
to boil a kettle does not make sense. Our region has proved very | :02:10. | :02:13.
attractive to windfarm developers, Cumbria in particular. There are | :02:13. | :02:15.
120 turbines operational or under construction in the county, plus a | :02:15. | :02:19.
further 60 offshore in the Solway. Neighbouring Northumberland has 115 | :02:19. | :02:25.
turbines consented for operation. In County Durham, the figure is 72 | :02:25. | :02:28.
turbines but the built-up areas of Tyne and Wear only have nine - at | :02:28. | :02:32.
the Nissan factory in Sunderland. Teesside has 31, including 27 | :02:32. | :02:37.
currently under construction off the seafront at Redcar. In North | :02:37. | :02:42.
Yorkshire, there are 22 turbines so far. This gives a regional total of | :02:42. | :02:52.
:02:52. | :02:56. | ||
429. These turbines are about to start electricity generation. | :02:56. | :02:59.
Despite protests are, many more will be given the go-ahead if the | :02:59. | :03:05.
government is to meet its ambitious targets of resourcing a fit of | :03:05. | :03:08.
power from renewables by the end of the decade. | :03:09. | :03:11.
Still on the subject of wind turbines, a Teesside company has | :03:11. | :03:14.
lost out on a contract to supply parts to that windfarm at Redcar | :03:15. | :03:17.
which Adrian mentioned. TAG, based at Haverton Hill near Billingham, | :03:17. | :03:20.
had believed it was in the running to supply monopiles to the | :03:20. | :03:23.
development. It's based only nine miles from the windfarm site. But | :03:23. | :03:28.
the contract has gone to a company in Belgium. | :03:28. | :03:33.
He's lucky he wasn't seriously injured or even killed. That's the | :03:33. | :03:36.
police reaction after a cyclist was catapulted from his bike by a rope | :03:36. | :03:40.
stretched across a path at a County Durham mountain bike track. The | :03:40. | :03:44.
rider was travelling at 20mph at Hamsterley Forest. A reward is | :03:44. | :03:47.
being offered for information that leads to the arrest of those | :03:47. | :03:53.
responsible. Keith Akehurst reports. These are the rider's helmet camera | :03:53. | :03:57.
shots of the incident at Hamsterley Forest in County Durham. The 29- | :03:57. | :04:01.
year-old man was going at up to 20 miles an hour on his mountain bike. | :04:01. | :04:05.
Due to snow and ice, that was ten miles an hour slower than usual. | :04:05. | :04:08.
Suddenly, he's catapulted from his bike by a rope strung across the | :04:08. | :04:18.
:04:18. | :04:19. | ||
Despite being shocked, he gets up to inspect the rope and untie it | :04:19. | :04:28.
before anyone else could be hurt. It is a nylon printed broke. It has | :04:28. | :04:35.
been inspected and we found it had been melted by some fought before - | :04:35. | :04:40.
- some sort of lighter. It's been deliberately stretched across the | :04:40. | :04:48.
track. It would have stretched and catapulted him backwards. The lad | :04:48. | :04:53.
felt he had been shot by something. The cyclist's clothes clearly show | :04:53. | :04:56.
a rope burn, but he wasn't badly injured. Durham Police say he's | :04:56. | :05:05.
been very lucky. We are fortunate the gentleman was over six feet in | :05:05. | :05:10.
height and the record him at chest height. If they had been young lads, | :05:10. | :05:15.
they would have been at neck height. The injuries could have been | :05:15. | :05:20.
possibly fatal. If it is a prank, they need educating. It is | :05:21. | :05:25.
something worse, we are looking at something quite sinister, Ready. | :05:25. | :05:34.
substantial reward is being offered It's a staggering figure but last | :05:34. | :05:36.
year, Cleveland Police received 3,745 calls reporting missing | :05:36. | :05:40.
people. From young children to the elderly, the force has one of the | :05:40. | :05:45.
highest rates in Britain. Now, while many who are reported missing | :05:45. | :05:48.
are quickly found, some families face the ordeal of having to carry | :05:48. | :05:52.
on not knowing where or what has happened to their loved ones. | :05:53. | :06:02.
:06:03. | :06:05. | ||
Stuart Whincup joins us from our BBC Tees newsroom now. On average, | :06:05. | :06:08.
Cleveland police receives 10 calls for every day reporting missing | :06:08. | :06:12.
people. Some are found quickly but for many families, they spend years | :06:12. | :06:18.
not knowing whether their loved ones are still alive. Charles and | :06:18. | :06:21.
Doris Clarke have been desperately waiting for news about their son | :06:21. | :06:31.
:06:31. | :06:33. | ||
Stephen. Whenever you are in a crowd, you | :06:33. | :06:40.
look and wonder whether it could be him. He is never out of our mind, | :06:40. | :06:46.
at all. How can it be? Stephen had been walking along the seafront | :06:46. | :06:51.
when he went to the toilet. When he didn't come out, his mother | :06:51. | :06:57.
presumed she had missed him and he returned home. But he was never | :06:57. | :07:00.
seen again and for the last 20 years, Steven's family have been | :07:00. | :07:07.
left wondering what happened to him. No idea. There are so many | :07:07. | :07:12.
possibilities. I used to think someone had taken him on to the | :07:12. | :07:20.
moors and murdered him. All sorts of possibilities. You can't think. | :07:20. | :07:23.
We have talked about it so many times, you can't let your mind go | :07:23. | :07:30.
that way. People will flip. Smiling for the cameras, this video shows | :07:30. | :07:32.
Steven winning a training award just two months before he | :07:32. | :07:35.
dissapeared. The police searches and public appeals finished years | :07:35. | :07:39.
ago. But Charles and Doris say they take heart from the fact that | :07:39. | :07:42.
shortly after his disappearance, Steven was spotted a few miles away | :07:42. | :07:51.
in Redcar. We believe he is still around. I can't accept that he is | :07:51. | :07:56.
dead. One day, he might just decide to open that door. If you are there | :07:56. | :08:06.
:08:06. | :08:06. | ||
are watching, son, give us a call. As part -- heartbreaking as that | :08:06. | :08:13.
story is, they are not alone. 33 people throw at Teesside and North | :08:13. | :08:16.
Yorkshire are classified as a long- term missing. Dozens of families in | :08:16. | :08:23.
the area are facing the same ordeal. Now, you don't hear this very often. | :08:23. | :08:25.
People living in a County Durham village are complaining that their | :08:25. | :08:28.
village has too many bus services. Howden- le-wear, near Crook, sees | :08:29. | :08:33.
up to 16 buses passing through it every hour. And a new service has | :08:33. | :08:36.
just been added. Some residents have complained but others are | :08:36. | :08:39.
worried that could mean they lose some services. Adele Robinson | :08:39. | :08:48.
reports. Buses, buses and a more buses. This is quite possibly the | :08:49. | :08:52.
first time ever complaints have been made that he will village gets | :08:52. | :09:02.
:09:02. | :09:04. | ||
too many and too close to go. You've put the. Opposite, it is | :09:04. | :09:12.
very congested in the village. bus company are starting a new | :09:12. | :09:20.
service in addition to many other services. All the services passed | :09:20. | :09:24.
through this village every hour. is ridiculous. They don't need | :09:24. | :09:33.
another one. Why did any company do it in the first prize? You wait | :09:33. | :09:38.
ages for one and then, two come along at once. Some people here | :09:38. | :09:41.
think that has been taken to a whole new level and in the past | :09:41. | :09:46.
hour, I have seen 15 services passed through. A lot of people are | :09:46. | :09:51.
worried complaints will mean services are cut. I don't think | :09:51. | :09:55.
there are too many buses passing through. The more buses, the better. | :09:55. | :10:01.
We have a good service, were split? The local councillor has taken | :10:01. | :10:05.
complaints about the services but says outlying areas need services | :10:05. | :10:12.
as well. It shouldn't be spread thinly in the area. We have seen 16 | :10:12. | :10:16.
buses come through and it seems a little bit and fair. You have taken | :10:16. | :10:23.
stick? Yes, but as a tyre here for, if people want to give me stick. | :10:23. | :10:26.
The bus company are hailing this new service as great for the | :10:26. | :10:34.
community. They say feedback has been positive. But it is clear this | :10:34. | :10:38.
dividing our bed isn't over. The news service starts next week. Some | :10:38. | :10:43.
say it could bring up to 20 buses through the village per hour. There | :10:43. | :10:48.
will be those who are counting. Dozens of people who spent last | :10:48. | :10:51.
night out of their homes because of a gas leak in Scarborough have now | :10:51. | :10:55.
been allowed back. Residents in the Seamer Road area were forced to | :10:55. | :10:58.
leave after a contractor damaged a pipe yesterday. Northern Gas | :10:58. | :11:02.
Networks have apologised for the inconvenience. | :11:02. | :11:04.
Buckingham Palace has released details of the Queen's national | :11:04. | :11:07.
tour to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee. Her Majesty, accompanied | :11:07. | :11:10.
by the Duke of Edinburgh, will be in the region between the18th and | :11:10. | :11:14.
19th July. They'll be visiting Sunderland, South Tyneside, North | :11:14. | :11:19.
Tyneside, Gateshead, Durham City and Stockton. Cumbria isn't on the | :11:19. | :11:25.
itinerary. Two West Cumbrian men who had to | :11:25. | :11:28.
abandon their third attempt to cross the Atlantic by pedalo say | :11:28. | :11:32.
they'll try again later this year. Kieran Sweeney and Callum McDonald | :11:32. | :11:35.
had to be rescued earlier this week after their home-built boat was | :11:35. | :11:40.
damaged by storms. But they're refusing to give in to the doubters, | :11:40. | :11:43.
vowing to build a new vessel and start again. Mark McAlindon's been | :11:43. | :11:48.
to meet them. The two friends may have grown up | :11:48. | :11:52.
by the sea although neither are nautical by nature. That didn't | :11:52. | :11:55.
stop them, though, trying to make a dream come true. But the two say | :11:55. | :11:58.
many boats have succumbed to surprise storms west of Africa | :11:58. | :12:05.
recently. And their experience was terrifying. And leaving the boat in | :12:05. | :12:10.
the middle of the water, it was hard but it was the right choice. | :12:10. | :12:14.
Because we got capsized so many times. The boat stood up to the | :12:14. | :12:21.
impacts, which it is designed to do. But we come first. The small boats | :12:21. | :12:28.
of the worst. The small waves are smashing into Russ, spinning us | :12:28. | :12:34.
around 180 degrees. It felt like a car crash every time. The plan was | :12:34. | :12:37.
to pedal in pleasant sunshine from Gran Canaria to the Bahamas, | :12:37. | :12:40.
raising 50,000 for the children's heart unit at Newcastle's Freeman | :12:40. | :12:43.
Hospital. But last year, Kieran and his brother were forced back by | :12:43. | :12:46.
mechanical problems, before Kieran and Callum gave in first to food | :12:46. | :12:55.
poisoning and now to storms. Since returning home, they said they have | :12:55. | :13:00.
been the subject to disparaging remarks on local websites. People | :13:01. | :13:04.
have said they are foolhardy. They say all we're trying to do is to | :13:04. | :13:08.
show that you can achieve your dreams and raise money for a | :13:08. | :13:12.
valuable calls and they say they are determined to succeed next time | :13:12. | :13:18.
round. We should be ready by the end of the year with the new boat | :13:18. | :13:22.
and the new design. A lot of changes in the manufacturing | :13:23. | :13:28.
process should speed things up. With the experience of building the | :13:28. | :13:32.
last one and the wiring and everything, this process will be a | :13:32. | :13:37.
lot quicker and a lot more cost- effective. In the meantime, the two | :13:37. | :13:40.
have just a few memories of their courage to rely on before a fourth | :13:41. | :13:45.
attempt is made. Coming up later: | :13:45. | :13:47.
We're live at the Riverside stadium as Middlesbrough and Sunderland | :13:47. | :13:51.
prepare for an FA Cup showdown. And we're with the Duke of | :13:51. | :13:54.
Gloucester as he backs a bid to bring World Heritage status to one | :13:54. | :14:02.
of our most historic sites. And a weather warning. I will be back | :14:02. | :14:10.
with all the details at the end of Is the North ready for electric | :14:10. | :14:13.
vehicles? That is the question Look North is trying to answer this week. | :14:13. | :14:16.
Our reporter is spending seven days with an electric car, charging it | :14:16. | :14:22.
at home and work and at public charging stations. It is claimed | :14:22. | :14:24.
the North-East is the most connected region of the country, | :14:24. | :14:28.
with more charge points than anywhere else. So are there enough | :14:28. | :14:33.
to keep him on the road? One day, the cars we drive will | :14:33. | :14:36.
have to be powered by something other than petrol or diesel, | :14:36. | :14:40.
because the oil will have run out. Right now, some manufacturers, | :14:40. | :14:45.
including Nissan, believe that electric cars are the way forward. | :14:45. | :14:49.
The big limiter at present is the range - about 100 miles. But Nissan | :14:49. | :14:52.
says this does not matter because the number of charge points is | :14:52. | :15:02.
growing all the time. In the North East, there is already in | :15:02. | :15:06.
infrastructure. If you use the sat- nav, it connects you with all the | :15:06. | :15:12.
charging points so you are never out of sight of a charging point. | :15:12. | :15:18.
From that point of view, it is pretty good. Nationally, the | :15:18. | :15:21.
Infrastructure will still take a while. | :15:21. | :15:25.
In fact, the North East is the best connected region in the country. | :15:25. | :15:28.
With a range of 100 miles, you could in theory make a return | :15:28. | :15:30.
journey of 50 miles in any direction from Newcastle, apart | :15:30. | :15:34.
from into the North Sea. But it is not that simple. We have 340 public | :15:34. | :15:38.
charge points either installed, or about to be installed. These will | :15:38. | :15:42.
charge your car in about eight hours. But the region also has | :15:42. | :15:46.
seven fast charge points installed. These will give an 80% charge in | :15:46. | :15:50.
half an hour. This gives you more daily range in between full | :15:50. | :15:57.
overnight charges. But how does this work in the real world? It has | :15:57. | :16:04.
been great. A really enjoyed driving it. The charges might be a | :16:04. | :16:12.
bit of a hassle but no more hassle than going to a petrol station. | :16:12. | :16:18.
really test the network of charging posts and the car, I am going to be | :16:18. | :16:23.
using this as the only means of transport. I will let you know how | :16:23. | :16:32.
I get on it in the near future. I am sure it will work. He is very | :16:32. | :16:35.
patient! The Duke of Gloucester has been in | :16:35. | :16:39.
South Tyneside today. In a busy visit, he spent time at St Oswald's | :16:39. | :16:43.
Hopsice and the new BT offices in South Shields. And he backed a bid | :16:43. | :16:46.
to secure World Heritage status for one of the area's historic sites. | :16:46. | :16:49.
He visited Bede's World in Jarrow, to hear about the latest moves to | :16:49. | :16:51.
make the twin monastery of Wearmouth and Jarrow an | :16:51. | :16:58.
international attraction. The royal seal of approval came | :16:58. | :17:00.
today for what its supporters believe should be the UK's next | :17:00. | :17:05.
World Heritage site. The monasteries of Wearmouth and Jarrow | :17:05. | :17:08.
were built in the late seventh century, during the Golden Age of | :17:08. | :17:15.
Northumbria. And the children of St Aloysius Primary School in Hebburn | :17:15. | :17:18.
adopted their best habits as the Duke joined them for a spot of | :17:18. | :17:23.
enscribing. The Duke, who is the patron of | :17:23. | :17:27.
Bede's World, has already pledged his support to the bid. But why | :17:28. | :17:30.
does Wearmouth and Jarrow deserve the UK's nomination for World | :17:30. | :17:40.
:17:40. | :17:41. | ||
Heritage status? While the Hadrian's Wall site was | :17:41. | :17:47.
billed by the Romans, and imposing Durham cathedral was built by the | :17:48. | :17:52.
conquering Normans, Wearmouth and Jarrow represents a genuinely | :17:52. | :17:56.
north-eastern culture. And it was not just in remote | :17:56. | :17:58.
Northumbria that the monasteries were famous. Professor Dame | :17:58. | :18:01.
Rosemary Cramp is 82, and spent 50 years digging for the secrets of | :18:01. | :18:10.
Wearmouth and Jarrow. It is not very often we can say that a here | :18:10. | :18:16.
where it is remote, we were the centre of learning and culture. It | :18:17. | :18:21.
recognises it was here we first get the definition of the beginning of | :18:21. | :18:29.
Englishness as well as north- eastern nurse. We also recognises | :18:29. | :18:33.
Bede was the master of the Middle Ages and somebody who is worthy to | :18:33. | :18:43.
:18:43. | :18:46. | ||
be commemorated. The Duke met with volunteers who help to keep the | :18:46. | :18:48.
museum going and with business people supporting the bid. A | :18:49. | :18:58.
decision on the nomination is due this summer. | :18:58. | :19:01.
There is only one place to start tonight and that is on Teesside for | :19:01. | :19:04.
Middlesbrough's FA Cup fourth round replay against Sunderland. The | :19:04. | :19:06.
Black Cats earned themselves a second chance thanks to Frazier | :19:06. | :19:09.
Campbell's equaliser ten days ago. Katie Gornall is live outside the | :19:09. | :19:19.
:19:19. | :19:20. | ||
Riverside for us now. In very cold riverside. It is more than just | :19:20. | :19:24.
bragging rights at stake. I have the programme for when the sides | :19:24. | :19:33.
last met. It cost just 10p. It was in 1975 when they last met. | :19:33. | :19:43.
:19:43. | :19:45. | ||
Middlesbrough were winners that day. The year was 1975. Middlesbrough | :19:45. | :19:48.
were the hot favourites to beat their Second Division rivals. | :19:48. | :19:51.
Sideburns were all the rage, and Graham Souness still had a | :19:51. | :19:55.
moustache. 40,000 crammed into Ayresome Park to see Jack | :19:55. | :19:58.
Charlton's team in blue and black fight back from Pop Robson's early | :19:58. | :20:08.
:20:08. | :20:08. | ||
opener. And it was Big John Hickton who spared Boro's blushes. Two | :20:08. | :20:10.
second-half penalties saw the striker embark on his legendary | :20:10. | :20:15.
long run-up, and fire the Teessiders into the fifth round. | :20:15. | :20:18.
Fast forward nearly 40 years and its not just the hairstyles that | :20:18. | :20:21.
have changed. Middlesbrough are now the ones hoping to cause an upset | :20:21. | :20:31.
:20:31. | :20:32. | ||
against the top flight's form team. It is going so well it is a gauge | :20:32. | :20:39.
for us. When you put our performance in a mix of their | :20:39. | :20:44.
results over the last six weeks, it was a decent performance. Can we be | :20:44. | :20:49.
produce it? We will have a go. Injuries will rob Mowbray of up to | :20:49. | :20:53.
five players from the side that forced a replay at the Stadium of | :20:53. | :20:56.
Light, with striker Scott Mcdonald out for up to 12 weeks. But after a | :20:56. | :20:59.
tough encounter first time round, no-one in the Sunderland camp is | :20:59. | :21:06.
taking anything for granted. think they had a couple of problems | :21:07. | :21:11.
with a few injuries before they played us. It did not seem to spoil | :21:11. | :21:16.
their game at all. They played very well against us. I expect exactly | :21:16. | :21:26.
:21:26. | :21:26. | ||
the same again. I am joined by Rob Mason and Rob Nichols. We will talk | :21:27. | :21:32.
about Sunderland first. Sunderland go into this one are the favourites. | :21:32. | :21:39.
An incredible run of form. Middlesbrough played very well and | :21:39. | :21:42.
deserved the draw they got. Sunderland are on a tremendous run. | :21:43. | :21:47.
They have been doing very well away from home especially. We hope we | :21:47. | :21:53.
can have Arsenal at home. We would love to have them in the Cup the | :21:53. | :21:58.
following Saturday. You must have been waxing lyrical about Martin | :21:58. | :22:03.
O'Neill. Everybody has. With good reason. He has given everybody a | :22:03. | :22:13.
:22:13. | :22:14. | ||
lift. He is a very good person. Hopefully, we'll have the last word | :22:14. | :22:20.
tonight. This is going to be tough for Mowbray with the injuries. | :22:21. | :22:27.
After the first game, there were a lot of players out. We are at home | :22:27. | :22:34.
and we have the fans behind us so hopefully we can repeat the success | :22:34. | :22:38.
of 1975 he the 21st century. Devlin got the fans behind to. If | :22:38. | :22:44.
we do not get the results and it goes to penalties, arsenal await | :22:44. | :22:46.
the next round. Newcastle Falcons have just nine | :22:46. | :22:49.
games left to save their Premiership status and keep top | :22:49. | :22:52.
flight Rugby Union in the north east. The new coaching staff have | :22:52. | :22:55.
not got much time to turn things around and their mission starts on | :22:55. | :22:59.
Saturday down at Bath. With former South Africa coach Gary | :22:59. | :23:03.
Gold at the helm and ex-England men John Wells and Mike Ford in support, | :23:03. | :23:05.
you cannotdoubt that owner Semore Kurdi is serious about keeping the | :23:05. | :23:15.
Falcons in the Premiership. But is it too late? If we win and teams | :23:15. | :23:20.
above us continue to win, it is too late. Then we are not going to stay | :23:20. | :23:28.
up. Been saying that, there is a pragmatic view of business and | :23:28. | :23:33.
rugby and you realise you have to look at the loss and the relegation | :23:33. | :23:38.
in many ways can stand you in good stead. It allowed them to compose | :23:38. | :23:42.
themselves and take stock of where they are. It is not something I | :23:42. | :23:46.
want to contemplate at the moment. Remarkably despite the odds being | :23:46. | :23:49.
firmly stacked against them, Kiwi golden boot winner Jimmy Gopperth | :23:49. | :23:56.
has rejected offers from other clubs to sign a new three-year deal. | :23:56. | :24:00.
Would it be fair to say there is no relegation clause in his contract? | :24:00. | :24:10.
He has made it clear he wants to stay. Let us hope it does not come | :24:10. | :24:13.
to that relegation. And there is another South African | :24:13. | :24:15.
on the way to the region. Durham have announced that former | :24:16. | :24:18.
international Herschelle Gibbs will play for the county in the Twenty20 | :24:18. | :24:21.
competition in the summer. Gibbs played in the tournament for | :24:21. | :24:31.
:24:31. | :24:35. | ||
Yorkshire two years ago. Let us look at how cold it was this | :24:35. | :24:40.
morning. Here is our league table from across the region. The coldest | :24:40. | :24:50.
:24:50. | :24:56. | ||
spot was minus 11 Celsius today. The highest temperature was minus | :24:56. | :25:00.
five. A gorgeous night-time weather picture to start us off. The focus | :25:00. | :25:10.
:25:10. | :25:12. | ||
will be the full mind -- for or moon from last night. -- full moon. | :25:12. | :25:20.
There will be icy roads. The rainfall will fall on freezing | :25:20. | :25:26.
services. It is frosty ahead of the rain band. Temperatures in the air | :25:26. | :25:34.
and DOW are two of minus five. They will be cold or on the ground. -- | :25:34. | :25:41.
down to minus five. The rain will continue to spread across the | :25:41. | :25:45.
region through the morning. A miserable rush-hour. For a time, it | :25:45. | :25:51.
will turn to snow. Rain elsewhere but very cold. Pembridge is between | :25:51. | :25:59.
1 and two degrees. -- temperatures. As we cross West, it is wet and | :26:00. | :26:04.
just a touch milder. Pembridge is will be five degrees. It is well | :26:04. | :26:10.
below average for the time of year. We expect the temperature to be | :26:10. | :26:15.
around eight degrees. A miserable end to the day. As we head through | :26:15. | :26:19.
the next few days, think that stay chilly with more drizzle. There | :26:19. | :26:26.
could possibly be sleet. It is cold on Saturday but one or two spots | :26:26. | :26:31.
should be a bit drier. The weather will stay unsettled and cold, even | :26:31. | :26:38.
for the time of year. If you are braving the cold and you are out | :26:38. | :26:42.
and about, with your cameras, we always loved to see or pictures. | :26:42. | :26:52.
