Hello and welcome to Friday's Look North. Tonight. | :00:02. | :00:07.
The world's first pill for multiple sclerosis. Patients say it has | :00:07. | :00:15.
transformed their lives. I have never looked back. I am monitored | :00:15. | :00:20.
regularly by the hospital and I have not had the slightest concern. | :00:20. | :00:22.
Why traders around Newcastle United's Stadium fear the Olympic | :00:22. | :00:25.
Games could cost them dear. Three years on from the | :00:25. | :00:28.
disappearance of Claudia Lawrence, her father says it has been torture. | :00:28. | :00:32.
Will a rise in the cost of flying hold back economic recovery here in | :00:32. | :00:36.
the North? And, her boots are made for walking, | :00:36. | :00:41.
the full length of Hadrian's Wall at the age of 95! | :00:41. | :00:44.
In sport, it will be no walkover for Sunderland in their FA Cup | :00:44. | :00:47.
quarter-final against Everton. Fortunately, Martin O'Neill does | :00:47. | :00:51.
not believe in bogey grounds. And we meet the tennis mad family | :00:51. | :01:01.
:01:01. | :01:11. | ||
who have all got their sights set It is the world's first pill to | :01:11. | :01:13.
treat people with multiple sclerosis and it was partly | :01:14. | :01:16.
developed here in the north. The pill, Fingolimod, has already been | :01:16. | :01:19.
used by 30,000 people around the world. It has shown it can reduce | :01:20. | :01:22.
relapses in MS patients. Doctors from the Royal Victoria Infirmary | :01:22. | :01:25.
in Newcastle were involved in its development. And now the pill has | :01:25. | :01:28.
been given the green light by NICE, the National Institute for Health | :01:28. | :01:31.
and Clinical excellence. Stephanie Lloyd has been to meet one woman | :01:31. | :01:41.
:01:41. | :01:44. | ||
whose life has been transformed by Eileen Wilson was diagnosed with | :01:44. | :01:48.
multiple sclerosis 20 years ago when a sudden attack left her | :01:48. | :01:52.
temporarily paralysed and unable to see. For the past five to six years | :01:52. | :01:58.
she has been involved in trials taking the drug Fingolimod. Every | :01:58. | :02:02.
day it is then world's first pill to treat MS. I have never looked | :02:02. | :02:07.
back. I am monitored regularly by the hospital and I have not had the | :02:07. | :02:11.
slightest concern whatsoever since I have been on the drug. It is easy | :02:12. | :02:19.
to take, it is just one pill every day. I am terrified of needles and | :02:19. | :02:23.
the alternative would be to take itself injecting needles and I | :02:23. | :02:27.
could not face doing that. The alternative when this came along, I | :02:27. | :02:34.
just jumped at with both hands and said I wanted to try it out. | :02:34. | :02:37.
affects around 100,000 people in the UK with most diagnosed between | :02:37. | :02:43.
the ages of 20 and 40. Women are twice as likely to develop the | :02:43. | :02:46.
condition as men. Studies have shown the drug can reduce the tax | :02:47. | :02:52.
by more than 50 %. This is a major progress for us in multiple | :02:52. | :02:57.
sclerosis. If you go back 10 or 15 years, we had no treatments are | :02:57. | :03:02.
tall. For the last decade, we have had their peers but they have had | :03:02. | :03:06.
to be given by injection. To have a tablet that you can take once a day | :03:06. | :03:11.
is a big move forward. The new pill offers hope for thousands like | :03:11. | :03:14.
Eileen with the debilitating condition. But it is not for | :03:14. | :03:17.
everyone. It is only for those patients who have started on | :03:17. | :03:22.
injectable therapy but have not had a good response. I am thrilled it | :03:22. | :03:27.
will be available for other people. It is a horrible disease and a lot | :03:27. | :03:31.
of people have it that she would never know have it. It is not | :03:31. | :03:35.
something that you publicise. It will do so much good to so many | :03:35. | :03:43.
people. It is important to stress that | :03:43. | :03:48.
sadly this drug does not treat all forms of multiple sclerosis. It is | :03:48. | :03:53.
not a drug for everyone with his condition. Ms affects people | :03:53. | :03:56.
differently and symptoms might include problems with a balance, | :03:56. | :04:01.
vision, dizziness, stiffness. This new pill is only for people with | :04:01. | :04:07.
the most common type of MS. This is called a relapse in a multiple | :04:07. | :04:09.
sclerosis and it means that symptoms can appear and then fade | :04:09. | :04:15.
away. Patients describe this sort of condition as living on a knife- | :04:15. | :04:20.
edge. This new drug will be offered to patients who are already | :04:20. | :04:23.
receiving therapy is by injection and you're not doing very well. It | :04:23. | :04:28.
is not a drug for patients with a progressive disease or fixed | :04:28. | :04:33.
disability. Worldwide the drug is having a very good success. It is | :04:33. | :04:36.
proving to be an effective treatment and allowing people like | :04:36. | :04:42.
Eileen, who we saw in the report, to lead a good and fulfilling life. | :04:42. | :04:44.
Traders in Newcastle have expressed fears about the effect the Olympic | :04:45. | :04:47.
Games will have on their livelihoods. The city council's | :04:47. | :04:49.
planning to close roads around the Newcastle United stadium where | :04:49. | :04:52.
Olympic football matches will be held this summer. Some firms say it | :04:52. | :04:55.
will cost them money, but the council says the road closures of | :04:55. | :04:58.
vital on safety grounds. Damien O'Neill is outside stadium for us | :04:58. | :05:08.
:05:08. | :05:18. | ||
Hello. St James' Park is hosting nine games between 26th July of | :05:18. | :05:24.
fourth August and there will be road closures as a result. The | :05:24. | :05:27.
closures are going to affect a number of businesses which operate | :05:27. | :05:33.
around the corner. They include retailers, florists, there is a | :05:33. | :05:37.
dentist. They have all said that they welcome the Olympics, but they | :05:37. | :05:42.
do fear about the impact this might have on their income. We will end | :05:42. | :05:49.
up losing business because the customers will come in to park | :05:49. | :05:53.
their cars and then going to Newcastle to do their shopping. | :05:53. | :05:57.
will make things difficult for the drivers, too. It really is going to | :05:57. | :06:02.
cause a lot of trouble. Perhaps more than we initially appreciated. | :06:02. | :06:06.
We welcome the Olympics to the area, but we are concerned because it | :06:06. | :06:10.
will affect patients getting in and getting a part and keeping | :06:10. | :06:15.
appointment times. It is fantastic and good for the area. I'm glad we | :06:15. | :06:18.
are getting something up here. But that shutting everything down will | :06:18. | :06:24.
be hard on the businesses who are already struggling. We have spoken | :06:24. | :06:27.
to Newcastle council and they acknowledge that there will be some | :06:27. | :06:30.
disruption to businesses, but they make the point that the Olympic | :06:30. | :06:37.
Games are not what they call and a regular fixture. They say they will | :06:37. | :06:41.
do everything they can to keep the disruption to a minimum. We have | :06:41. | :06:44.
been directed by the Olympic Security Executive to ensure that | :06:44. | :06:47.
the games are safe and that people who visit the city have a great | :06:47. | :06:52.
experience. There will be some inconvenience and some roads will | :06:52. | :07:00.
be close its -- closed. The City will make every opportunity in | :07:00. | :07:03.
order for businesses and residents to access their properties without | :07:03. | :07:07.
inconvenience. Did this mean people going to the Games will need be in | :07:07. | :07:11.
their seats three hours before kick-off? It just me is that the | :07:11. | :07:16.
area around the games will be secured. But they will have to beat | :07:16. | :07:23.
here early because there will be searches outside the stadium. | :07:23. | :07:27.
really big event coming to the city later this year. What we do not | :07:27. | :07:30.
know yet is who will actually be playing here. We should have those | :07:30. | :07:40.
:07:40. | :07:43. | ||
"Every day I think, where it is she? What is she doing? It is | :07:43. | :07:45.
torture." The words of Peter Lawrence, speaking about his | :07:45. | :07:48.
daughter, Claudia, who disappeared three years ago this weekend. The | :07:48. | :07:51.
University of York chef was last seen in March 2009. But detectives | :07:51. | :07:54.
claim that they are just a small step away from working out what | :07:54. | :08:00.
happened to her. Claudia Lawrence's disappearance | :08:00. | :08:02.
prompted one of the biggest investigations North Yorkshire | :08:02. | :08:05.
police have ever conducted. The University of York chef was | :08:05. | :08:10.
reported missing in 2009 when she did not turn up for work. The | :08:10. | :08:15.
police now believe she was murdered. Her father described the last three | :08:15. | :08:18.
years as "sheer torture", but he says he clings on to the hope that | :08:18. | :08:27.
his beloved daughter is still alive. You keep thinking, where are you? | :08:27. | :08:34.
What has happened to you? When there is blue-sky like we had this | :08:34. | :08:39.
morning, I wonder if she is able to see it. It is all of that kind of | :08:39. | :08:42.
thing. It keeps churning round and round. | :08:42. | :08:45.
Last December, detectives said they were investigating a significant | :08:45. | :08:47.
new lead after a potentially crucial new witness came forward. | :08:47. | :08:49.
Inquiries into that information, North Yorkshire police say, are | :08:49. | :08:57.
still continuing. It has changed my life really because it has become | :08:57. | :09:06.
the focus of my life. I cannot go a day without thinking about her all | :09:06. | :09:12.
looking for her or doing something. I chat to her really. That sounds a | :09:12. | :09:17.
bit mad, but I do talk to her. It is a way of keeping in contact even | :09:17. | :09:22.
though I am not getting any replies. The police say that they are a | :09:22. | :09:26.
small step away from working out what happened to Claudia. But after | :09:26. | :09:29.
three years, Peter Lawrence says he does not believe they are any | :09:29. | :09:39.
:09:39. | :09:54. | ||
The price of flying is about to rise again. Air passenger duty is | :09:54. | :09:58.
going up by eight per cent in April, the third increase in as many years. | :09:58. | :10:01.
North-east businesses say the charges now so high it is holding | :10:01. | :10:04.
back economic recovery. They want the Chancellor to scrap the rise in | :10:04. | :10:07.
next week's budget, and give our airports a tax break. This report | :10:07. | :10:08.
from our political editor, Richard Moss. | :10:08. | :10:11.
Passengers at Newcastle airport already pay a significant chunk of | :10:11. | :10:14.
tax for flying, but from next month they will pay even more. The | :10:14. | :10:17.
increase in duty will see the cost of each economy flight to Europe | :10:17. | :10:22.
rise by 1 to 12. The tax on a trip to the US will rise by 5 to | :10:22. | :10:24.
65 per passenger. While travellers to Australia will see the duty | :10:24. | :10:28.
increase by 7 to 92 per person. Businesses are worried by the rise, | :10:28. | :10:35.
though, and say the tax is holding back for north-east economy. It is | :10:35. | :10:40.
ridiculous. The tax makes up most of the cost. I suppose that | :10:40. | :10:44.
everything has to be paid for at the end of the day, but we all want | :10:44. | :10:50.
cheaper flights. Businesses are worried by the rise, though, and | :10:50. | :10:55.
say that the tax is holding back the North East economy. | :10:55. | :10:58.
greatest concern is the burden that it places on airlines who could | :10:58. | :11:02.
come into the North East. They may put their flies in to other | :11:02. | :11:05.
locations rather than coming here and that will put our | :11:05. | :11:10.
competitiveness at serious risk in the future. The tax has raised | :11:10. | :11:15.
almost 3 billion a year. Newcastle Airport things it has a solution. | :11:15. | :11:19.
The tax could be raised at the busiest, most congested airports, | :11:19. | :11:24.
the London airports, and reduced at the regional airports. That would | :11:24. | :11:28.
stimulate growth and help to get new routes in. It would really be a | :11:28. | :11:32.
boost to the regional economy. Others believe a cut in the tax | :11:32. | :11:37.
would be short-sighted. It is a carbon tax and it is there to | :11:37. | :11:40.
discourage what is in fact a very high carbon emitting form of | :11:40. | :11:45.
transport. Although the medicine of a carbon tax is painful, the | :11:45. | :11:50.
illness of climate change will do far more damage to our national and | :11:50. | :11:56.
global economies. No doubt the Chancellor will be working on his | :11:56. | :11:59.
budget this weekend. For the moment, it seemed that their taxes are | :12:00. | :12:09.
:12:10. | :12:12. | ||
really heading up. And Richard has more on that story and the rest of | :12:12. | :12:15.
the week's political news on Sunday Politics this weekend at 12 noon | :12:15. | :12:23.
here on BBC 1. You are watching it Look North. | :12:23. | :12:26.
Soldiers, who lost six of their comrades in Afghanistan last week, | :12:26. | :12:28.
marched through Warminster this morning. Hundreds of people pay | :12:28. | :12:31.
their respects to the troops from the third Battalion, the Yorkshire | :12:31. | :12:33.
Regiment. Five soldiers from the regiment were killed when a | :12:33. | :12:35.
roadside bomb destroyed their armoured vehicle. A sixth, Sergeant | :12:35. | :12:38.
Nigel Coupe, was from the First Battalion, the Duke of Lancaster's | :12:38. | :12:41.
Regiment. He was based at Catterick garrison in North Yorkshire, where | :12:41. | :12:43.
many soldiers are trained before going to Afghanistan. Nicola Rees | :12:43. | :12:46.
has been to Catterick to meet some of the young soldiers currently | :12:46. | :12:56.
:12:56. | :12:58. | ||
undergoing their training. This is the first taste for new recruits of | :12:58. | :13:01.
life in the military. These recruits are just five weeks into | :13:01. | :13:07.
their training. Some of them behind be are its Jenga 17 years old. | :13:07. | :13:11.
Depending on the quality of their performance today, they could be | :13:11. | :13:16.
presented by their regimental berets. Receiving their berets is a | :13:17. | :13:21.
significant rite of passage. It is also the start of a tough journey | :13:21. | :13:28.
into the army. It is good fun. is a completely different life. It | :13:28. | :13:34.
is better. We know each other inside out. Many of these young men | :13:34. | :13:39.
will go on to join the Yorkshire regiments. Some are like Nathan | :13:39. | :13:44.
Berg are heading towards the battalion who lost five soldiers in | :13:44. | :13:50.
Afghanistan last week. It is quite a shock. By the end of the training | :13:50. | :13:54.
I will be ready to get out there. I am scared, but I have signed up for | :13:55. | :14:01.
this job. Stuff like that happens. Nathan Patterson were also joined | :14:01. | :14:05.
that Regiment. He, too, is also coming to terms with the reality of | :14:05. | :14:11.
the life in an army. It was a shock. We did not expect it to have been | :14:11. | :14:16.
that many people who passed away. It does make you more focused. I | :14:16. | :14:20.
think people will be still scared of going and what their family | :14:20. | :14:27.
thinks. If I go, I go. We do not know to what extent the lads have | :14:27. | :14:33.
watched the news in the past. We have not had any of the guys coming | :14:33. | :14:38.
in and saying that since the tragedy happened they want to leave. | :14:38. | :14:42.
They are not yet soldiers, but already they are learning to cope | :14:42. | :14:46.
with death. They will finish their basic training in a matter of | :14:46. | :14:49.
months and then they will join their battalions. Some could be | :14:49. | :14:57.
fighting in Afghanistan in less than a year. | :14:57. | :15:00.
If you are complaining about your aches and pains take a look at this | :15:00. | :15:04.
young lady. She is 95 years old and she is the | :15:04. | :15:07.
oldest person to attempt to walk the full length of Hadrian's Wall, | :15:07. | :15:11.
or 84 miles of it. Doris Hancock, a retired teacher from Cumbria, set | :15:11. | :15:14.
off from Wallsend today. She is planning to take it slowly, just | :15:14. | :15:18.
five miles a day, on and off, for the next six months. And it is all | :15:18. | :15:21.
to raise money for charity. Julie Smith watched her begin her long | :15:21. | :15:28.
journey. Nobody has been against it atoll. I very much doubted that to | :15:28. | :15:35.
begin with. They are enthusiastic. It is day one of an historic | :15:35. | :15:38.
journey. 84 Roman miles ahead for 95-year-old Doris. This all began | :15:38. | :15:48.
:15:48. | :15:48. | ||
because she had an eye for a bargain. I found a book about the | :15:48. | :15:53.
wall about all of the roots. I was not looking for that, I had gone | :15:53. | :15:58.
into see what they had in the sale. When I read it, I thought I could | :15:58. | :16:04.
divided up and do it a bit at a time. She said, that she would | :16:04. | :16:12.
quite like to do it some time before she was too old. So I said, | :16:12. | :16:18.
you do know that it is 85 miles long? And she said yes, that is | :16:18. | :16:25.
fine I will do in little bits. it will be five miles a day, two | :16:25. | :16:29.
days a month, with family and friends. It could become quite a | :16:29. | :16:34.
big thing. He thinks we are mad! Of mad or not it is time to begin | :16:35. | :16:44.
:16:45. | :17:01. | ||
walking the walk that will end in That is fantastic! | :17:01. | :17:05.
On to the sport, and the FA Cup takes top billing this weekend with | :17:05. | :17:07.
Sunderland kicking of their quarter-final at Everton around | :17:07. | :17:10.
lunchtime tomorrow. A bit of an early start, but there is a trip to | :17:10. | :17:13.
Wembley at stake because, of course, the semi-finals are held there now | :17:13. | :17:17.
as well as the final. I still don't think it is a good idea. And it is | :17:17. | :17:21.
a big test for the Black Cats, against a side who, over the past | :17:21. | :17:31.
:17:31. | :17:34. | ||
few years, have certainly made them Everton have been giving Sunderland | :17:34. | :17:39.
the blues for the best part of the last three decades. Just the one | :17:39. | :17:42.
away win at Goodison in all that time, 11 Merseyside victories in | :17:42. | :17:52.
:17:52. | :17:52. | ||
their last 15 meetings. So, a bogey team? Not according to the boss. | :17:52. | :17:56.
For me, personally, I am not a great believer in that kind of | :17:56. | :18:02.
thing. Of course, you look at the statistics after the game. We will | :18:02. | :18:06.
go and do our best and are best will have to be very strong because | :18:06. | :18:12.
Everton are in great form. these things can Burg -- work both | :18:12. | :18:19.
ways. You took over around about the same | :18:19. | :18:29.
:18:29. | :18:32. | ||
time as Rob sticker in 1973? I did not take over in 1973! You arrived | :18:32. | :18:42.
:18:42. | :18:49. | ||
at the club at the same time of Maybe this time it will be | :18:49. | :18:54.
Sunderland's turn to give Everton the blues. | :18:54. | :18:57.
Another team aiming for Wembley are York City. They take a slender 1-0 | :18:57. | :19:00.
advantage into the second leg of their FA Trophy semi-final against | :19:00. | :19:04.
Luton tomorrow. The Hatters have two men sent off as they slipped to | :19:04. | :19:08.
a narrow defeat, including this red card for hand ball. Jamie Reed | :19:08. | :19:12.
scored the resulting penalty. If City can avoid defeat, the Minster | :19:13. | :19:15.
men will make their third appearance at Wembley in four | :19:15. | :19:19.
seasons. Alan Pardew is hoping his side have | :19:19. | :19:21.
got their last-minute defeat against Arsenal out of the system | :19:21. | :19:25.
by the time they take on Norwich on Sunday. Whatever the result, though, | :19:25. | :19:29.
is will be a special day for one of United's longest serving members of | :19:29. | :19:32.
staff. Newcastle looked good for a point | :19:32. | :19:35.
at the Emirates on Monday night before Vermaelen's goal at the | :19:35. | :19:38.
death. The manager is confident the result will not have taken the wind | :19:38. | :19:46.
out of their sails as they continue to push for Europe. We have come | :19:46. | :19:50.
out of with dignity intact and our confidence intact and we will take | :19:50. | :19:55.
that into Norwich. We have a healthy cushion at this stage in | :19:55. | :20:00.
the season between us and the teams below. But what we have got to | :20:00. | :20:03.
focus on is getting into Europe. We need to win four or five games to | :20:03. | :20:08.
do that. That will found a lot if we do not win on Sunday. Victory | :20:08. | :20:11.
would be a bonus for Newcastle tea- lady, Kath Cassidy. She has served | :20:11. | :20:15.
19 managers in her 40 years at the club, but has never watched a game. | :20:15. | :20:18.
That will change on Sunday when someone will serve her tea in the | :20:18. | :20:25.
director's box. She will find it strange because it is not really | :20:25. | :20:30.
what she is about. She comes in and what she's -- looks after the | :20:30. | :20:33.
manager and she tells us a story every week and it is usually funny. | :20:33. | :20:42.
She is such a sweet lady. I know that she suffers at home if we have | :20:42. | :20:45.
not won. In the championship, Middlesbrough | :20:45. | :20:48.
will be counting on their good away form when they take on Birmingham | :20:48. | :20:51.
at St Andrews. A below-par performance at the Riverside saw | :20:51. | :20:54.
Borough lose 2-0 to Leeds, under the watchful eye of City manager, | :20:54. | :20:56.
Chris Hughton full stop Tony Mowbray's side have been more | :20:56. | :21:00.
successful on the road, but they need three points to keep them in | :21:00. | :21:04.
at the top four and away from the chasing pack. In League One, Neale | :21:04. | :21:06.
Cooper's Hartlepool will hope to make the most of home advantage | :21:06. | :21:09.
against Oldham in the first of back-to- back home games at | :21:09. | :21:12.
Victoria Park. While a victory for Carlisle could see the Blues moved | :21:12. | :21:15.
back into sixth place, keeping their play-off hopes alive and | :21:15. | :21:25.
:21:25. | :21:29. | ||
kicking. There is definitely relief. The squad is united in there. We | :21:29. | :21:33.
think we are capable of getting there into the lead. We are quietly | :21:33. | :21:36.
confident. It is a big weekend for Newcastle | :21:36. | :21:39.
Eagles who can take a step closer to winning their second trophy of | :21:39. | :21:42.
the season. They are up against Plymouth Raiders on Sunday in the | :21:42. | :21:46.
first leg of the BBL trophy. They beat Plymouth to lift the BBL Cup | :21:46. | :21:49.
in January, but were beaten by them earlier this month in the league. | :21:49. | :21:52.
The second and deciding leg will be at Sport Central next Friday. But | :21:52. | :21:55.
first, the Eagles play Leicester Riders at home in the championship | :21:55. | :22:05.

tonight. We have not been blessed with many tennis champions in this | :22:06. | :22:10.
country but that could change thanks to one family. All three | :22:10. | :22:20.
:22:20. | :22:26. | ||
children in the family have devoted It is a long way it to Wimbledon, | :22:26. | :22:31.
but that is where these three want to be. And they are making the | :22:31. | :22:41.
:22:41. | :22:44. | ||
sacrifices to do it. In a day I will have a lesson with Chris, an | :22:44. | :22:47.
hour-and-a-half of fitness and then three hours of tennis. When I am | :22:47. | :22:57.
away, I have to take all of my staff and be very organised. I have | :22:57. | :23:04.
played in their Rhoose, Lithuania, Denmark, Turkey, Croatia, Germany. | :23:04. | :23:07.
There is the inevitable sibling rivalry is back home on the | :23:07. | :23:16.
family's own accord. It can be a bit irritating. It is all right. I | :23:16. | :23:25.
like playing tennis with my sisters. The youngest two children are home- | :23:25. | :23:30.
school and they are coached. They put in very long days and that has | :23:30. | :23:33.
to count for a lot because we are not as competing in Britain but | :23:33. | :23:37.
around the world and there a lot of people who do not go to school | :23:37. | :23:41.
around the world and dedicate themselves to tennis. Above all, | :23:41. | :23:47.
they just love the game, but there is a purposeful star of I want to | :23:47. | :23:57.

It looked a bit windy there. But we have had a bit of spring-like | :23:59. | :24:09.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds | :24:09. | :24:51.
The rabbits knew where to come out, where the sun was shining today. It | :24:51. | :24:57.
will be a mixed weekend. The best of the weather will be on Sunday. | :24:57. | :25:02.
On Saturday we will start with a scattering of rain. We should be | :25:02. | :25:08.
fine and dry it later on. There should be some blue-sky for | :25:08. | :25:13.
Mother's Day. Thank you for this lovely blue sky. Other blossom is | :25:13. | :25:22.
out at the moment. Tonight, we have a band of rain which has been | :25:22. | :25:29.
bothering Cumbria and that will work its way south and east woods. | :25:29. | :25:33.
It will then go back into southern and eastern parts of the region. | :25:33. | :25:43.
:25:43. | :25:43. | ||
For Sunday, all of that rain sinks towards the South East. It will be | :25:43. | :25:48.
a fine day. Tonight, we have rain to cope with, it should not cause | :25:48. | :25:52.
us too many problems. It will fizzle out as it comes southwards | :25:52. | :25:59.
in geese was through the night. There will be a band of cloud and | :25:59. | :26:04.
that will keep the temperatures higher. This band of rain is pretty | :26:04. | :26:08.
fickle and as we head into tomorrow morning, we wake up to dry weather | :26:08. | :26:13.
in the north, but that there will always lurk in the south. Tomorrow | :26:13. | :26:19.
afternoon, it might start to make its presence felt. It will stretch | :26:19. | :26:26.
of the north-eastern side of North Yorkshire. Top temperatures | :26:26. | :26:30.
tomorrow, you will really notice the difference in those. We had | :26:30. | :26:34.
around 13 in the North East, tomorrow we will be into single | :26:34. | :26:43.
figures. For Sunday, your barometers will change from rain to | :26:43. | :26:47.
fair. That means that Mother's Day is looking pretty good wherever you | :26:47. | :26:54.
are in the region. High is at 10 Celsius, showers will be most | :26:54. | :26:59.
likely in North Yorkshire. Elsewhere, looking good. A bit of | :26:59. | :27:03.
sunshine and blue sky and if you're taking your mother out, the flowers | :27:03. | :27:11.
and the blossoms are looking very Just before we go, news of a | :27:11. | :27:16.
