programme tonight. Censorship, or protecting the public? Newcastle | :00:09. | :00:12.
council says it wants to ban payday loan companies from advertising on | :00:12. | :00:16.
billboards. Where is mother of three Rania | :00:16. | :00:19.
buried? Police say this camper van could hold the key. | :00:19. | :00:22.
The zero hours contract debate. Tourism businesses in the Lakes say | :00:22. | :00:27.
they're essential. And the Cumbrian char that's turning | :00:27. | :00:30.
Northumbrian. A new home for one of Britain's rarest fish as it | :00:30. | :00:33.
struggles to survive. In sport we hear from the Durham | :00:33. | :00:37.
cricketer hoping for a bash at the Aussies in his home Test match. | :00:37. | :00:41.
And we look back on a miserable night of Cup action for three of our | :00:41. | :00:51.
:00:51. | :00:58. | ||
Tonight, payday loan firms under renewed attacks. This time one of | :00:58. | :01:03.
our councils is considering banning them from advertising hoardings. A | :01:03. | :01:06.
quick look online reveals many of the loan companies have | :01:06. | :01:09.
eyebrow-raising interest rates of over 300% per annum, and they've | :01:09. | :01:12.
been accused of exploiting desperate people. Newcastle City Council has | :01:12. | :01:15.
already blocked one of them, Wonga, Newcastle United's sponsor, from | :01:15. | :01:21.
computers in its libraries, and now it wants to go further. But as our | :01:21. | :01:23.
Political Correspondent Mark Denten reports, the loan firms say they're | :01:23. | :01:29.
being unfairly targeted. St James Park, Newcastle. The new | :01:29. | :01:39.
:01:39. | :01:49. | ||
season starts in just a couple of weeks. A new start. Also on the shop | :01:49. | :01:53.
as well as the club badge will be the name of its new sponsor. Should | :01:53. | :02:00.
it and its competitors be able to promote themselves. Increasingly, | :02:00. | :02:04.
councils are saying now. Plymouth City Council has just announced it's | :02:04. | :02:06.
banning payday loan firms from advertising. Newcastle Council is | :02:06. | :02:12.
now considering following suit for billboards in the city. I do not | :02:12. | :02:17.
want payday loan companies to have advertising space in our city. It is | :02:17. | :02:21.
the wrong image and people should look to alternatives like credit | :02:21. | :02:25.
unions instead. The council is in the process of blocking loan company | :02:25. | :02:27.
sites in council owned buildings including libraries. They say Wonga | :02:28. | :02:30.
have already been blocked by an internet filter, but isn't that | :02:31. | :02:35.
censorship? We are not affecting what people do in their homes but we | :02:35. | :02:39.
are seeing in public buildings they should not be able to access payday | :02:39. | :02:43.
loan companies, because we are having to pay massive amounts of | :02:43. | :02:46.
support for people getting into difficulties because of these | :02:46. | :02:49.
companies. But this payday loan company in Newcastle says it's angry | :02:49. | :02:56.
at the councils moves. I am a capitalist. I think it is a bad idea | :02:56. | :03:04.
and businesses that are legal should be allowed to advertise. But with | :03:04. | :03:07.
loans of all shapes and sizes part of the local landscape already, | :03:07. | :03:15.
would people in the city really back an ad ban for payday loan firms. | :03:15. | :03:24.
agree with that. The people who apply for them can be vulnerable. | :03:24. | :03:30.
They are more likely to be enticed into these kinds of situations. I am | :03:30. | :03:35.
totally against it and I think the council are right. Wonga say they | :03:35. | :03:38.
don't consider themselves a payday loan company but they didn't want to | :03:39. | :03:44.
comment on any possible restrictions on their advertising. | :03:44. | :03:48.
A man who supplied a Class A drug to a York teenager who later died has | :03:48. | :03:51.
been jailed for six years and five months. Luke Carey, who's 25, | :03:51. | :03:56.
appeared before York Crown Court. He'd pleaded guilty at an earlier | :03:56. | :04:00.
hearing to giving 16-year-old Poppy Rodgers methylamphetamine. Poppy | :04:00. | :04:05.
died in April last year after taking the designer drug. | :04:05. | :04:07.
Police investigating the disappearance of a former Teesside | :04:07. | :04:10.
woman have extended their search to North Yorkshire. Mother-of-three | :04:10. | :04:16.
Rania Alayed vanished in early June. Two men have already been charged | :04:16. | :04:20.
with her murder. Now detectives searching an area near Thirsk are | :04:20. | :04:23.
asking for help in tracing a camper van, they believe to be linked to | :04:24. | :04:33.
:04:34. | :04:35. | ||
her disappearance. It's on this stretch of the a 19 | :04:35. | :04:41.
which is at the centre of this cross-border police investigation. | :04:41. | :04:46.
Detectives have established a white camper van travel this way around | :04:46. | :04:50.
the time of Rania Alayed's disappearance. It is thought to have | :04:50. | :04:57.
drooled over in a northbound lay-by. Police have already | :04:57. | :05:01.
contacted around the hundred and 50 drivers who were known to have been | :05:01. | :05:05.
using the road at around that time and they are now anxious to speak to | :05:05. | :05:12.
any early morning walkers or people on the Sunday morning that may have | :05:12. | :05:18.
noticed an area of disturbed ground or undergrowth. If people have any | :05:18. | :05:26.
evidence or information, people can be charged with this moral power. My | :05:26. | :05:30.
task is to coordinate the search and continue to look for Rania Alayed. | :05:30. | :05:40.
:05:40. | :05:41. | ||
Two people have already been charged with the murder. Both men are from | :05:41. | :05:45.
the greater Manchester area. As far as solving the mess of this young | :05:45. | :05:50.
woman's whereabouts, police believe the answer to that lies somewhere | :05:50. | :06:00.
:06:00. | :06:05. | ||
along this trunk road in North To businesses in the Lake District | :06:05. | :06:11.
said they are worried the government may rush through legislation over | :06:11. | :06:15.
controversial zero hours contracts. Hotels, restaurants and guesthouses | :06:15. | :06:21.
say they rely on the flexibility of the contracts to stay in business, | :06:21. | :06:27.
but critics say the contracts are fears and can lead to exploitation. | :06:27. | :06:32.
-- are unfair. It's the height of the tourist season, beds are booked | :06:32. | :06:35.
and hotels are fully staffed. Many of them with seasonal workers | :06:35. | :06:38.
like Victor, who are on Zero Hours contracts so there's no guarantee | :06:38. | :06:46.
about if and when they work. It is difficult because you need the money | :06:46. | :06:53.
and you need to work and be able to pay bills. You will not have the | :06:53. | :06:55.
money ready. Vince Cable, the Business Secretary, is reviewing the | :06:55. | :06:59.
use of contracts like Victor's. In the Lake District, the worry is that | :06:59. | :07:06.
review might rule out their use, making employing staff tricky. | :07:06. | :07:12.
big concern is that Vince Cable may be rushed into creating legislation | :07:12. | :07:19.
which does not encompass the variety of work patterns and work load in | :07:19. | :07:23.
different industries and communities around the country. It would be | :07:23. | :07:27.
extremely hard or even impossible to create a one size fits all | :07:27. | :07:36.
legislation package. He is convinced zero hours contracts can work for | :07:36. | :07:40.
the tourist industry if employers are responsible, but the Warriors | :07:40. | :07:46.
employees could be exploited which is why people need to be aware of | :07:46. | :07:51.
what they are entitled to. They are entitled to holidays and may be | :07:51. | :07:57.
entitled to statutory sick pay, but most employers, if you have a good | :07:57. | :08:00.
work-out in place you want to keep that worker. A decision from the | :08:00. | :08:03.
Business Secretary on the next stage of the review is expected in | :08:03. | :08:06.
September. The outcome will be keenly awaited by one of Cumbria's | :08:06. | :08:12.
biggest economies. The first phase of a 265 million | :08:12. | :08:16.
housing development began in Newcastle's west end today. The | :08:16. | :08:18.
15-year-long plan is for 1800 homes, a neighbourhood centre and | :08:18. | :08:23.
commercial facilities on the banks of the River Tyne in Scotswood. The | :08:23. | :08:27.
project's part of a larger scheme to regenerate parts of Newcastle and | :08:27. | :08:31.
Gateshead. A breast cancer drug which was | :08:31. | :08:34.
undergoing trials in Newcastle, will not be available on the NHS. The | :08:34. | :08:37.
National Institute for Health and Care Excellence says it has concerns | :08:37. | :08:41.
over the value and effectiveness of Perjeta, which is said to extend the | :08:41. | :08:45.
life expectancy of some advanced cases. Further research will be | :08:45. | :08:51.
carried out. It's a rare strain of a rare fish, | :08:51. | :08:55.
and it's found only in the waters of Ennerdale in the Lake District. But | :08:55. | :08:58.
the survival of the Ennerdale Arctic char, which is considered unique | :08:58. | :09:01.
because it spawns in streams, not still water, is under threat, | :09:01. | :09:05.
because the water it needs for its first stages of life is becoming too | :09:05. | :09:11.
acidic. So fish from Cumbria have now been brought to establish a new | :09:11. | :09:14.
population in Kielder Water in Northumberland to try to save a | :09:14. | :09:24.
:09:24. | :09:25. | ||
creature which has been around since the ice age. | :09:25. | :09:29.
It's messing about with nature. Yes, but it's messing about to save a | :09:29. | :09:33.
little bit of nature. This bit. These are the fish at four months | :09:33. | :09:43.
:09:43. | :09:44. | ||
old. Their parents came from Ennerdale. This particular group | :09:44. | :09:51.
only spawn in one feeder stream that comes into Annandale water, and that | :09:51. | :09:57.
particular stream had problems with water quality so we grow them here | :09:57. | :10:01.
and then gets overly difficult stage before we put them back into | :10:01. | :10:05.
Annandale water. Now, they don't look big enough to be even worth | :10:05. | :10:15.
saving. But they do grow. Into this! If you're thinking, that looks | :10:15. | :10:19.
like a nice meal, you not alone. Because ospreys now populate | :10:19. | :10:24.
Kielder, too. And if the char aren't careful, then this latest | :10:25. | :10:28.
conservation project will end up not alongside the osprey, but inside the | :10:28. | :10:38.
:10:38. | :10:40. | ||
osprey. This is the trouble. Fish are getting predated Dawn and levels | :10:40. | :10:48.
not seen before, but I do not think the level of Osprey will affect this | :10:48. | :10:54.
population because they are a deepwater fish. At this point, it is | :10:54. | :10:58.
worth telling our fishing friends that if they catch any, to carefully | :10:58. | :11:02.
at them. The anglers will pay heed. The ospreys, though? The hope is | :11:02. | :11:09.
they'll stick to trout. Coming up next, our | :11:09. | :11:13.
longest-standing, or sitting, MP announces he's bowing out. | :11:13. | :11:16.
And we launch our summer series charting the rise and fall of our | :11:16. | :11:20.
seaside resorts, with a look at the days when a trip to the seaside | :11:20. | :11:29.
really was something special. I'll be here what a fool weather | :11:29. | :11:33.
forecast for the next few days including for the first three days | :11:33. | :11:37.
of test match. The long-standing MP for Berwick, | :11:37. | :11:40.
Sir Alan Beith has announced he'll step down at the next election after | :11:41. | :11:46.
42 years. The Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg led tributes to Sir Alan, | :11:46. | :11:48.
describing the former deputy leader of the Liberal Democrats as | :11:48. | :11:51.
passionately committed to his constituency. Alison Freeman | :11:51. | :11:56.
reports. He's the longest serving liberal | :11:56. | :12:01.
since Lloyd George. But in 2015, Sir Alan Beith will stand down as the MP | :12:01. | :12:09.
for Berwick-upon-Tweed. He made the announcement today - 40 years after | :12:09. | :12:13.
he first won the seat for the Lib Dems, by the narrow margin of just | :12:13. | :12:16.
57 votes. Ever since then the Conservatives have sought to take it | :12:16. | :12:19.
but he's remained popular with constituents. Often seen as mild | :12:19. | :12:22.
mannered, Sir Alan is a highly effective politician both locally | :12:22. | :12:26.
and at Westminster. He's long campaigned for improvements to the | :12:27. | :12:30.
A1 in his constituency and was deputy leader of the party for | :12:30. | :12:36.
almost a decade from 1993. Earlier in 1988 he made a failed bid for the | :12:36. | :12:42.
leadership, against Paddy Ashdown, then in 2008, he was knighted. Today | :12:42. | :12:45.
the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said it was little wonder that Sir | :12:46. | :12:48.
Alan commanded the attention of all parties when speaking, because of | :12:49. | :12:54.
his longevity as an MP. He said he greatly admired the 70-year-old's | :12:54. | :13:00.
passionate commitment to his constituency and to the North East. | :13:00. | :13:04.
A series of events to honour Sir Alan's 40 years in politics will be | :13:04. | :13:10.
held in Northumberland later this year. | :13:10. | :13:14.
Thanks to the return of the sun this summer, many people are enjoying a | :13:14. | :13:17.
visit to the seaside without the need for a fleece and an umbrella. | :13:17. | :13:22.
There was a time, not that long ago, when a trip to the coast was a | :13:22. | :13:25.
magical experience and, for many, it was the highlight of the year. | :13:25. | :13:28.
Resorts like Whitley Bay, Redcar and Scarborough would be heaving with | :13:28. | :13:33.
tourists and day-trippers. But then came the era of cheap air travel, | :13:33. | :13:36.
and foreign holidays took over. Throughout this month on Look North | :13:36. | :13:40.
we're looking at the health and history of our coastal resorts. | :13:40. | :13:43.
First, Peter Harris looks back at the glory days, when an English | :13:43. | :13:53.
:13:53. | :14:01. | ||
Fantastic. Like going to heaven. To us it seems like all our birthdays | :14:01. | :14:11.
:14:11. | :14:12. | ||
had come at once. For some, these were the days they had dreams of. | :14:12. | :14:17.
The site of the sea once a year and the results we once took for granted | :14:17. | :14:25.
were magical back then. Sometimes we used to just stand on the promenade | :14:25. | :14:35.
:14:35. | :14:35. | ||
and look out to the sea. We'd run down, get wet and come back and die | :14:35. | :14:45.
:14:45. | :14:49. | ||
off. Heaven. -- dry off. Scarborough had probably been the first and then | :14:49. | :14:56.
the railways brought the coast within reach of all. The Victorians | :14:56. | :15:03.
were convinced of the therapeutic value of CERN bathing water. -- sea | :15:03. | :15:11.
air. Initially, these places were just for posh people but later the | :15:11. | :15:20.
working classes came. There's nothing wrong with donkey rides. | :15:20. | :15:27.
What always amused me was there was a fish and chip shop, and the queues | :15:27. | :15:33.
for that place would be halfway down the street, but the locals had a | :15:33. | :15:36.
special hatch at the back where they could go and get served | :15:36. | :15:44.
straightaway. And then the Scots started coming. The Glasgow fair | :15:45. | :15:49.
fortnight it was called and every weekend for decades and the | :15:49. | :15:56.
colonised Whitley Bay. What I remembered was getting on a special | :15:56. | :16:06.
train from Glasgow bound to Whitley Bay. There is confusion over the | :16:06. | :16:09.
seats and over the fact that they will be stuck on this without so | :16:09. | :16:17.
much as a cup of tea for four hours. Thousands of people, completely fool | :16:18. | :16:26.
and people sleeping in tents and things like that. I remember having | :16:26. | :16:33.
a fantastic time. It was all about going and playing the penny | :16:33. | :16:43.
:16:43. | :16:45. | ||
machines. I remember sitting on the beach. I remember my mum and dad | :16:45. | :16:51.
saying, here it comes, and then we all headed back up to the | :16:51. | :16:57.
guesthouse. It was just a great place and are very fond unhappy | :16:57. | :17:05.
memories. -- fawned and happy. It was an age when there was no other | :17:05. | :17:14.
choice, but for a week or two, they were the promised land. That was our | :17:14. | :17:24.
:17:24. | :17:25. | ||
moment of the year. Happy days. I loved that shot of the | :17:25. | :17:28.
two older ladies paddling with their coats on. Next week, Peter will be | :17:28. | :17:32.
looking at the rise of the Costas, which left our beaches empty, and | :17:32. | :17:39.
Benidorm's full to bursting. You're bursting with excitement because the | :17:39. | :17:42.
Ashes is driving you nuts. Less than two days to go and Ashes fever is | :17:42. | :17:46.
starting to grip the region. Today both England and Australia were at | :17:46. | :17:48.
Durham's International cricket ground to have their first practice | :17:48. | :17:51.
sessions and check out the facilities. But, as has often been | :17:51. | :17:54.
the case with this fascinating Test series, controversy was never far | :17:54. | :17:59.
away. Mark Tulip reports. Firstly, let's hope the North-East | :17:59. | :18:03.
weather hasn't peaked too early. Here were the Aussies, still two | :18:03. | :18:06.
down in the series having been foiled by the Manchester rain, | :18:06. | :18:09.
bathing in the Chester-le-Street sunshine this morning. After lunch | :18:09. | :18:12.
it was even better when England held their practice session. But both | :18:12. | :18:15.
teams were followed all the way to the ground by another controversy. | :18:15. | :18:18.
This time, reports in the Australian media that an investigation was to | :18:18. | :18:22.
be held into whether some players were using silicone tape on their | :18:22. | :18:25.
bats to trick the Hotspot technology which can usually confirm whether a | :18:25. | :18:28.
batsman has actually hit the ball. The International Cricket Council | :18:28. | :18:32.
and players on both sides rubbished the claims. So what do the Aussies | :18:32. | :18:39.
think of a ground preparing to host its first Ashes Test? They have been | :18:39. | :18:46.
good. The nets were nice out the back and the dressing rooms and the | :18:46. | :18:49.
ground are and the ground are good, so it is nice to a different ground | :18:49. | :18:57.
and not such a big stadium to play a test match. Friday could be red | :18:57. | :19:00.
letter day for Gateshead-born seam bowler Graham Onions, a Durham | :19:00. | :19:03.
stalwart just shy of his 31st birthday. Bad luck and injury have | :19:03. | :19:07.
confined him to just nine Tests. If he makes this final 11 for this | :19:07. | :19:14.
match, it would surely top the lot. Definitely. 2009, I played my second | :19:14. | :19:19.
game here but to play against Australia on Friday in front of my | :19:19. | :19:26.
family would be amazing. It would be a dream come true. These are just | :19:26. | :19:29.
some of the Australian players standing between England and a | :19:29. | :19:35.
series victory. Even the England players would welcome five days of | :19:35. | :19:38.
weather like this come Friday. Now, as well as the current players, | :19:38. | :19:42.
you can always catch up with some of the biggest names from the past, | :19:42. | :19:46.
whenever Test match cricket is in town. So many of them, these days, | :19:46. | :19:49.
working in the media. And Katie Gornall is in Chester-le-Street with | :19:49. | :19:58.
a real superstar, right now. Katie. I'll introduce you just a minute but | :19:58. | :20:07.
you join me here and how's about this for a view? There is Durham's | :20:07. | :20:11.

Flintoff. England already the team they are coming into this but can | :20:25. | :20:28.
they win the team they are coming into this but can they when they see | :20:28. | :20:37.
these outbreaks? They want to win the series and when well. England | :20:37. | :20:42.
will be wanting to improve on the performances so this will be | :20:42. | :20:46.
fiercely contested an all outcomes are possible. They would absolutely | :20:46. | :20:53.
love to win the series outright. How does it compare to you when in 2005? | :20:53. | :21:03.
:21:03. | :21:04. | ||
England are very strong although not playing to their full potential, and | :21:04. | :21:09.
it is different. You can only play against what is in front of you. | :21:09. | :21:13.
Engel and want to show they are a better side and probably better than | :21:13. | :21:18.
they have shown in the last few weeks. A bit of a road growing about | :21:18. | :21:26.
Silicon Cape being used to evade hotspot technology. -- tape. What | :21:26. | :21:33.
was your reaction? It sounds like a bit of nonsense. It is quite a slow | :21:33. | :21:38.
news week so we will take some pictures of them having a cigarette | :21:38. | :21:44.
and so on, but we should be focusing on what has been a great series so | :21:44. | :21:50.
far. A lot of excitement. We will let you go to prepay for a radio | :21:50. | :21:55.
show and you can hear more from him tonight on radio five live. | :21:55. | :22:00.
Well worth a listen. Away from the Ashes, but still with cricket, there | :22:00. | :22:03.
was disappointment for Durham last night. They missed the chance to | :22:03. | :22:06.
make T20 finals day for only the second time, after a heavy | :22:06. | :22:09.
quarterfinal defeat at Northants. Kyle Coetzer, who played for Durham | :22:09. | :22:13.
in their one-day Cup final win at Lord's in 2007, hit a rapid 44 to | :22:13. | :22:17.
put the home side on their way to a daunting 20-over total of 183 for | :22:17. | :22:23.
four. And despite an unbeaten half-century from Ben Stokes, which | :22:23. | :22:26.
included four sixes, Durham were never really in the hunt, under the | :22:26. | :22:36.
:22:36. | :22:40. | ||
Northampton floodlights, falling 36 runs short on 147 for six. | :22:40. | :22:43.
On to football, and on BBC Radio Cumbria tonight you can follow | :22:43. | :22:45.
Carlisle's fortunes against Blackburn Rovers in the Capital One | :22:45. | :22:49.
League Cup. Let's hope they fare better than three of our teams, who | :22:49. | :22:53.
fell at first hurdle last night. If you're a Boro fan, it doesn't get | :22:53. | :22:58.
much worse than this. A crowd which dipped below 7000. A second | :22:58. | :23:01.
successive home defeat to start the season. And ten years after they won | :23:02. | :23:04.
this competition, an embarrassing Cup exit at the hands of Accrington | :23:04. | :23:08.
Stanley. If your manager Tony Mowbray, where on earth do you go | :23:09. | :23:12.
from here? It wasn't as if Boro didn't have enough chances to win by | :23:12. | :23:16.
a hatful. Official stats showed 31 attempts on goal, but this one, from | :23:16. | :23:20.
Lucas Jutkiewicz, was the only one that counted. Stanley, now managed | :23:20. | :23:22.
by former England striker James Beattie, had five attempts, | :23:22. | :23:26.
including this one - a header from Marcus Carver which was judged to | :23:26. | :23:30.
have crossed the line. When you waste opportunities like this, you | :23:30. | :23:35.
just know it's not going to be your night. And, sure enough, nine | :23:35. | :23:39.
minutes from time, Piero Mingoia smacked home Stanley's winner. Yes, | :23:40. | :23:46.
Accrington Stanley. A name, and a night, Boro won't forget in a hurry. | :23:46. | :23:49.
It's also two defeats in a row for Middlesbrough old boy Colin Cooper, | :23:49. | :23:53.
in his new role in charge of Hartlepool, though Pools were up | :23:53. | :23:55.
against Championship side Nottingham Forest, coincidentally, another of | :23:55. | :23:59.
Cooper's former clubs. One-up at the break, Forest's next two goals owed | :23:59. | :24:02.
much to their Sunderland connection - former Black Cat Greg Halford | :24:02. | :24:05.
heading in the second, and one-time Wearside favourite Andy Reid setting | :24:05. | :24:10.
up their third. Pool replied with their first of the season - a | :24:10. | :24:14.
consolation header from defender Neil Austin. | :24:14. | :24:18.
Over at Bootham Crescent, York City gave an early headstart to another | :24:18. | :24:21.
Championship team, Burnley, and never looked like catching up. | :24:21. | :24:24.
Manager Nigel Worthington was pleased with the effort, but saw the | :24:24. | :24:27.
Minstermen fade away towards the end as the Clarets strolled into round | :24:27. | :24:33.
two. Also last night, Newcastle played | :24:33. | :24:36.
out a 1-1 draw in their friendly with Rangers. This evening, | :24:36. | :24:39.
Sunderland were in Denmark to meet the Danish League leaders, FC | :24:39. | :24:49.
Mitilland. They are leading with a goal from Alan Johnson. Left out of | :24:49. | :24:52.
the side was Irish winger James McClean, who's understood to be on | :24:52. | :24:56.
the verge of joining FA Cup winners Wigan. The 24-year-old was an | :24:56. | :24:59.
instant hit under Martin O'Neill, but suffered a drastic dip in form | :24:59. | :25:03.
last season. Thank you. Have you contained | :25:03. | :25:13.

yourself now? Two more days to go. test match. The next few days has | :25:19. | :25:24.
sunshine and just a few showers. First thing tomorrow, bright skies | :25:24. | :25:29.
across parts of Yorkshire and there will be clear spells across much of | :25:29. | :25:36.
the Legion with temperatures dropping to around 10 Celsius. Not | :25:36. | :25:43.
quite as cool as it was last night with temperatures in the low 50s in | :25:44. | :25:51.
Fahrenheit. Just a bit clothier in Northumberland. We are expecting the | :25:51. | :25:55.
warmth of the day to build a scattering of showers, falling just | :25:55. | :26:05.
:26:05. | :26:06. | ||
about anywhere. Warren in between the downpours at around 22 Celsius. | :26:06. | :26:11.
Light winds and bright skies with the few showers and several are in | :26:11. | :26:18.
Cumbria. Quite changeable through the day tomorrow. A mix of sunshine | :26:18. | :26:23.
and showers tomorrow and tomorrow evening, more general rainfall which | :26:24. | :26:30.
will bring a wet start to Friday. The rain clears first thing on | :26:30. | :26:35.
Friday so bright skies by the end of the afternoon and warm inland. | :26:35. | :26:42.
Through the start of the weekend, things will stay dry and settled but | :26:42. | :26:47.
cooler than of late. All change again on Sunday. Across the | :26:47. | :26:53.
north-east, bright skies by the end of Friday and cooler and just a bit | :26:53. | :27:01.
clothier on Saturday. He is the forecast for the cricket. On Friday, | :27:01. | :27:06.
we are expecting it to be a wet start but that clears by the time | :27:06. | :27:12.
the players take to the field with bright skies blue until tea-time. | :27:12. | :27:22.

Looking good for Saturday but on headlines. The new Governor of the | :27:22. | :27:25.
Bank of England, Mark Carney, says interest rates will remain at their | :27:26. | :27:28.
record low at least until unemployment falls to 7%. | :27:28. | :27:31. |
