First it was North Cumbria, now the NHS trust which runs

hospitals in South Cumbria has been put into special measures

It means both trusts, serving a county with a poptlation

of around half a million people are now rated inadequate.

The Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust runs sites in Kendal,

It joins the North Cumbria trust, which runs hospitals in Carlisle

Adrian Pitches has more on this and joins me now.

So, are all of Cumbria's hospitals now said to be providing in`dequate

It would be unfair to say that. One shining beacon is the hospital in

Kendal, that was actually r`ted as good. The North Cumbria trust was

put into special measures l`st year because of an acceptably high death

rates. That will be reviewed later this year. Furness and Lanc`ster

have been singled out as thd ones dragging the trust down. We went to

the three main hospital sitds, Lancaster, Barrow in Furness, and

the carer at those places is not of a high standard. We do not believe

that the trust of its own c`n get to being a good standard and a

reasonable time frame. But the Kendal hospital is actually quite

good. The local MP seized on this and said that services which had

even reached away to the other hospitals should perhaps be taken
