Hello, welcome to Friday's Look North. | :00:00. | :00:00.
A mother's plea to find her daughter. | :00:00. | :00:07.
Ruth Appleby was told her baby had died at birth in a Spanish hospital. | :00:08. | :00:12.
But she now believes her child was stolen to order. | :00:13. | :00:15.

Why Pippa Middleton's County Durham cousins are not on the guest list | :00:25. | :00:31.
Hundreds of couples head to Teesside in an attempt to waltz | :00:32. | :00:38.

But there's no trip to the capital for Carlisle, whose promotion hopes | :00:48. | :00:50.
are shattered with a last-minute defeat at Exeter. | :00:51. | :01:04.
The plea of a north-east woman who is convinced her baby | :01:05. | :01:09.
It sounds extraordinary, but her case has now been | :01:10. | :01:14.
taken up by a delegation from the European Parliament - | :01:15. | :01:17.
heading to Madrid to demand answers from the Spanish authorities. | :01:18. | :01:21.
In 1982, Ruth Appleby from Catterick Garrison gave birth | :01:22. | :01:24.
Hours later, she was told she had died and wasn't allowed to see her. | :01:25. | :01:34.
It's since emerged that over many, many years, hundreds of thousands | :01:35. | :01:37.
of babies have gone missing at birth from Spanish hospitals. | :01:38. | :01:39.
Our health reporter Sharon Barbour has more details. | :01:40. | :01:46.
When this happened, I had an idyllic pregnancy. | :01:47. | :01:51.
Ruth Appleby from Catterick Garrison was in hospital in La Coruna | :01:52. | :01:54.
in Northern Spain in 1992 when she gave birth to a baby girl. | :01:55. | :02:02.
Hours later, she was told the baby had died. | :02:03. | :02:04.
Ruth now believes her baby was in fact stolen. | :02:05. | :02:06.
This weekend, she's joining a mission to Madrid | :02:07. | :02:08.
by the European Parliament to demand answers. | :02:09. | :02:15.
I want the pressure to be put on authorities to at least get a proper | :02:16. | :02:22.
investigation. And to fill that vacuum. | :02:23. | :02:24.
So is it possible her baby was taken? | :02:25. | :02:27.
Ruth says after she was told her daughter had suddenly died, | :02:28. | :02:31.
They refused to let Ruth see the baby and wouldn't | :02:32. | :02:34.
Then stories across Spain began to emerge of babies | :02:35. | :02:41.
It was a real shock. And the cases from the 1960s where practically | :02:42. | :02:55.
identical to what had happened to me. It moved me to look into things. | :02:56. | :03:00.
But it was when she wanted her daughter's body exhumed and returned | :03:01. | :03:03.
to North Yorkshire for burial that she made a shocking discovery. | :03:04. | :03:07.
Because the coffin was too big to put in the chest to transport to the | :03:08. | :03:18.
crematorium, unfortunately, two cemetery simply decided to dig a | :03:19. | :03:22.
crowbar to it and open it without a word of warning. And I saw the | :03:23. | :03:26.
contents of that Kovtun. It was a skeleton this big. -- that coffin. | :03:27. | :03:39.
The skeleton was not of a baby but a larger child. | :03:40. | :03:41.
Frustrated by not getting answers, she asked the European | :03:42. | :03:44.
Now a delegation of MEPs are heading to Spain to demand | :03:45. | :03:47.
Their mission is being lead by the north-east | :03:48. | :03:50.
I realised that her story was so incredible and so deeply sad that | :03:51. | :03:56.
she needed people to stand up with her and fighter corner with her. I | :03:57. | :04:02.
strongly believe that what happened to her is a similar situation as to | :04:03. | :04:10.
what has happened to hundreds of thousands of other Spanish women. | :04:11. | :04:13.
Ruth hopes she might finally know what happened to her daughter, | :04:14. | :04:15.
Sharon is here now. It is a very difficult and extraordinary story. | :04:16. | :04:23.
It is chilling. To think this young mum | :04:24. | :04:27.
believed her baby had died. She wasn't allowed to see it, | :04:28. | :04:30.
wasn't given any details about the causes of death | :04:31. | :04:34.
and wouldn't let them take the body. And then over the years to discover | :04:35. | :04:42.
that across Spain hundreds of thousands of babies appear to be | :04:43. | :04:46.
taken from hospitals in a scandal go back to the 1930s involving hospital | :04:47. | :04:50.
staff, church groups and criminal gangs... Ruth is thought to be the | :04:51. | :04:55.
first British woman to come forward with the story but the European | :04:56. | :05:00.
Parliament believes that once it is a that other people might have had a | :05:01. | :05:05.
similar tragedy... Next week, the European Parliament and Risoen on | :05:06. | :05:08.
that mission to Spain to try and find some answers at least. -- and | :05:09. | :05:19.
rest... Ruth. Thank you. | :05:20. | :05:23.
A former youth coach of Newcastle United, George Ormond, | :05:24. | :05:25.
has been charged with 29 counts of historic sexual offences | :05:26. | :05:28.
The 61-year-old is due to appear in court next month. | :05:29. | :05:33.
The mother of a 14-year-old who died while swimming with friends | :05:34. | :05:35.
in the River Wear is backing a water safety campaign. | :05:36. | :05:38.
Cameron Gosling suffered a shock reaction after jumping | :05:39. | :05:40.
into the river near Bishop Auckland almost two years ago. | :05:41. | :05:42.
His mother, Fiona, visited the scene of the tragedy in support | :05:43. | :05:47.
of a campaign to make teenagers aware that the shock | :05:48. | :05:50.
Now, in recent days, political party manifestos | :05:51. | :05:58.
have unveiled a string of education proposals. | :05:59. | :06:00.
These include extra investment in schools and a Labour promise | :06:01. | :06:02.
Also controversial is a Conservative plan to allow the creation of more | :06:03. | :06:09.
Our political correspondent Luke Walton has been | :06:10. | :06:13.
Skill and teamwork - they're needed for cricket | :06:14. | :06:21.
And in this campaign, parties aim to hit the target with plans | :06:22. | :06:25.
Among the issues igniting debate, school funding, with many manifestos | :06:26. | :06:34.
promising extra cash to fill a feared shortfall. | :06:35. | :06:41.
And more controversial, a Conservative plan to drop the ban | :06:42. | :06:43.
The proposal is dubbed "backward-looking" by Labour. | :06:44. | :06:49.
I believe we deliver a very good education for those students | :06:50. | :06:56.
It worries me, selection, because it could create | :06:57. | :06:59.
But supporters of the idea insist international | :07:00. | :07:05.
The more successful country in the world | :07:06. | :07:08.
Why not have something like that in the north-east? | :07:09. | :07:20.
If education reform is a battle line between parties, parents have | :07:21. | :07:23.
I asked three of them for their message to the politicians, | :07:24. | :07:29.
with changes to exams one of their bugbears. | :07:30. | :07:35.
The Government have put in new exams but not given the time | :07:36. | :07:38.
for those children to actually learn what they need. | :07:39. | :07:40.
The stress does worry me in terms of how the children cope with that. | :07:41. | :07:43.
Don't mess around with the funding for schools. | :07:44. | :07:45.
The funding must be there for the future of our children. | :07:46. | :07:48.
As these students prepare for exams, our politicians are approaching | :07:49. | :07:50.
And with the parties divided on education, | :07:51. | :07:55.
the outcome of this election in Hartlepool and across the country | :07:56. | :07:57.
could have a big impact here in the classroom. | :07:58. | :08:08.
A North Yorkshire village is celebrating the 150th anniversary | :08:09. | :08:10.
of its retail co-operative - the oldest independent | :08:11. | :08:12.
The Grosmont shop was founded in 1867 to serve the ironstone mines | :08:13. | :08:16.
that were then being sunk in the area. | :08:17. | :08:20.
Since then, it's resisted all temptation to merge with other | :08:21. | :08:23.
Our business correspondent Ian Reeve reports. | :08:24. | :08:27.
Grosmont, pretty and secluded in the North York Moors. | :08:28. | :08:31.
And an unlikely place to find a truly socialist enterprise. | :08:32. | :08:35.
The village shop is the oldest independent co-operative and one | :08:36. | :08:40.
150 years old, 200 active members pay ?1 a year and take a dividend. | :08:41. | :08:48.
They are happy with the service, but it can be tough | :08:49. | :08:51.
It is becoming very difficult for small shops. | :08:52. | :08:57.
It is difficult to get a supplier to deliver and it is difficult | :08:58. | :09:01.
to make sure you stock the stock that people really want. | :09:02. | :09:03.
This used to be the haberdashery department. | :09:04. | :09:06.
As you can see, we still have the rails hanging | :09:07. | :09:09.
from the ceiling where things would be displayed for sale. | :09:10. | :09:11.
And we have one of the first mannequins. | :09:12. | :09:13.
It was a store to service the railway running past its front | :09:14. | :09:26.
door, and the ironstone mines that were once here. | :09:27. | :09:29.
The main threat to our livelihood at the moment is home delivery | :09:30. | :09:33.
from the big supermarkets, which is interesting | :09:34. | :09:34.
because we were market leaders in that respect. | :09:35. | :09:36.
Years ago, when the co-op started, we delivered by horse | :09:37. | :09:39.
Some irony there, but Grosmont villagers, like Andrew, | :09:40. | :09:47.
are determined the co-op will see another 150 years of service. | :09:48. | :09:50.
Obviously, you can't do a big shop there. | :09:51. | :09:57.
It's just when you run short of something, | :09:58. | :09:59.
Grosmont's co-op has, down the years, resisted | :10:00. | :10:17.
merging with others, determined to tread its own path, | :10:18. | :10:19.
For a century and a half, then, a model of mutuality, | :10:20. | :10:23.
If you haven't heard by now, it's Pippa Middleton's wedding tomorrow - | :10:24. | :10:28.
But one branch of the family not invited hails from County Durham. | :10:29. | :10:33.
Shirley Beedle, formerly Shirley Temple, is Kate and Pippa | :10:34. | :10:36.
Shirley's son Peter hasn't been offered the catering contract, | :10:37. | :10:45.
despite running a fish shop in Bishop Auckland. | :10:46. | :10:47.
Despite her family ties, surely will have to enjoy Pippa Middleton's | :10:48. | :10:59.
wedding from afar this weekend. One day, she would like to meet the | :11:00. | :11:02.
Middleton is to tell them all about... The hard-working north-east | :11:03. | :11:07.
for fathers and mothers. It would be nice to tell them about their | :11:08. | :11:13.
grandparents and a wonderful beware. Because I actually knew them. -- and | :11:14. | :11:20.
how wonderful they wear. Charlie's link starts with hard grandmother | :11:21. | :11:26.
and grandfather. They had nine children, including Charlie's | :11:27. | :11:40.
father,, and the family tree on the Harrison site descends three | :11:41. | :11:43.
generations did reach Kate and Pippa Middleton today. Meanwhile, on the | :11:44. | :11:48.
other side, Charlie's son Peter is a little bit disappointed that the | :11:49. | :11:51.
family fish shop could not have provided the catering for the bar. | :11:52. | :11:57.
-- Pippa Middleton. I was disappointed because we do have a | :11:58. | :12:00.
mobile chippy and it would have been nice if we could have taken it to | :12:01. | :12:05.
the reception. Never mind. At least surely has given the family a touch | :12:06. | :12:10.
of royal class back in the 1950s. And just reminiscing with these | :12:11. | :12:12.
photographs taken in 1950, when I had my moment of him. -- fame. I was | :12:13. | :12:23.
chosen as the County Queen in the village in County Durham. Would you | :12:24. | :12:26.
like to have been invited tomorrow, at least to the make do? Gil Macau | :12:27. | :12:29.
don't think so. I don't think it would be appropriate. -- I don't | :12:30. | :12:37.
think so. It is their family do. I am sure I will enjoy a lovely lunch | :12:38. | :12:41.
with family and friends tomorrow I'm thinking of the happy couple in | :12:42. | :12:43.
Berkshire. And she can think of the money that | :12:44. | :12:52.
she has saved on a gift. Kynren - the big show reversing | :12:53. | :12:58.
the fortunes of a small town - will soon be back | :12:59. | :13:01.
for a second season. This year, the British history | :13:02. | :13:03.
themed live action extravaganza has Among them, five members of one | :13:04. | :13:07.
family who can't get enough of it. Sharuna Sagar has been to meet | :13:08. | :13:11.
the Wards of Bishop Auckland. This is Kynren - an epic | :13:12. | :13:20.
tale of British history. Its name comes from the Anglo-Saxon | :13:21. | :13:26.
for "family" and is especially apt Hi, I'm Grandad, and this | :13:27. | :13:31.
is my wife, Lynne. Hi, I'm Nana, and Derek | :13:32. | :13:41.
and I have two children, Hi, I'm Genette, and this | :13:42. | :13:51.
is my brother, Stewart. Hi, I'm Stewart, and | :13:52. | :13:56.
this is my son, Jake. And they are normally to be found | :13:57. | :13:59.
running the family business, but since all three generations | :14:00. | :14:04.
signed up as volunteers, every spare The first time I saw Kynren, | :14:05. | :14:07.
it just looked so amazing. And I thought, I have | :14:08. | :14:10.
to be part of this. I've never done any dancing, | :14:11. | :14:13.
but it's brilliant. It's new skills and | :14:14. | :14:17.
it is a lot of fun. We all thought it was a good way | :14:18. | :14:22.
of seeing each other a lot. With the pressures of work, | :14:23. | :14:25.
you don't get a chance to do that much these days, | :14:26. | :14:28.
so it is really enjoyable. The time has come for | :14:29. | :14:31.
the performers, which includes three members of the Ward family, | :14:32. | :14:33.
to be put through their paces. But for the backbone | :14:34. | :14:37.
of the operation, the commitment We have worked right | :14:38. | :14:39.
through the winter months. And it has been very | :14:40. | :14:46.
quiet and peaceful here. Now it is coming up to rehearsal | :14:47. | :14:54.
times and it is, where has So, you are here to look | :14:55. | :14:57.
after the estate, but didn't you fancy your chances | :14:58. | :15:01.
of being a Viking something? So you didn't fancy doing | :15:02. | :15:03.
a bit of sword fighting? No, not at all. | :15:04. | :15:07.
No. Possibly, yeah. | :15:08. | :15:08.
And a paintbrush. He is not the only one who prefers | :15:09. | :15:13.
to be behind the scenes. In the costume department, | :15:14. | :15:16.
there are thousands of outfits for Nana to make, | :15:17. | :15:18.
alter and maintain. Even on New Year's Day, I think | :15:19. | :15:21.
I was doing it on New Year's Day. Because I'm retired, you know, | :15:22. | :15:28.
I have time to do it. As long as the show is going | :15:29. | :15:32.
on in Bishop Auckland, And I reckon so will | :15:33. | :15:44.
the rest of the clan, When we are at home, conversation | :15:45. | :15:47.
is Kynren, Kynren, Kynren. All we do, we love Kynren that much, | :15:48. | :15:51.
we play Kynren music. Well, it's time to say goodbye | :15:52. | :15:54.
to the Ward family for now... ..as they join the cast and crew, | :15:55. | :15:57.
because there's a lot But we'll be back soon | :15:58. | :16:03.
to see how their Kynren Family memories in the making there. | :16:04. | :16:23.
It is a big weekend for some of our teams but last night wasn't to be | :16:24. | :16:26.
for Carlisle. It wasn't. Sony but so far for | :16:27. | :16:32.
Carlisle. -- it was so near but so far. | :16:33. | :16:34.
Carlisle United manager Keith Curle admits he would like to stay | :16:35. | :16:37.
at Brunton Park if the right plans are put in place to mount a serious | :16:38. | :16:41.
Curle was speaking moments after his side had suffered | :16:42. | :16:44.
a heart-breaking last minute defeat by Exeter which shattered | :16:45. | :16:46.
their hopes of reaching next weekend's League Two Play-Off final | :16:47. | :16:48.
After coming back from two goals down in the first leg | :16:49. | :16:52.
at Brunton Park to draw 3-3, Carlisle fans travelled the 350 | :16:53. | :16:55.
miles to Exeter's St James' Park in hope if not expectation. | :16:56. | :16:59.
But the party atmosphere didn't last for long, | :17:00. | :17:04.
Ollie Watkins putting the home side ahead after just ten minutes. | :17:05. | :17:08.
When Watkins netted his second of the night with little more | :17:09. | :17:11.
than 10 minutes of normal time remaining, it looked | :17:12. | :17:13.
like it was all over for Keith Curle's side. | :17:14. | :17:15.
But with Sunday's comeback fresh in their minds, the Blues hit | :17:16. | :17:18.
Jason Kennedy scrambling the ball over the line | :17:19. | :17:21.
Belief restored, John O'Sullivan's 89th-minute header looked like it | :17:22. | :17:30.
But with almost the last kick of injury time, Jack Stacey, | :17:31. | :17:34.
on loan at Carlisle last season, fired in a fabulous shot from 25 | :17:35. | :17:39.
yards to send Grecians fans wild and City back to Wembley - | :17:40. | :17:42.
nine years to the day that they regained their Football League | :17:43. | :17:44.
The pain was etched on the faces of every Carlisle player and it's | :17:45. | :17:51.
a feeling boss Keith Curle wants them to remember. | :17:52. | :17:54.
When we had in the changing room, we will slam the door and keep it shut. | :17:55. | :18:04.
-- they wanted to. But we didn't. You after you that success and it | :18:05. | :18:07.
will hurt you. That is the foundation for the building blocks | :18:08. | :18:10.
of next season. That pain of leaving and celebrating and having a chance | :18:11. | :18:15.
of being promoted as to stay with us. I am sorry we couldn't get to | :18:16. | :18:20.
Wembley. We gave it everything. But we have to be proud of what we have | :18:21. | :18:23.
done this season. I am gutted for everyone. Typical Carlisle. | :18:24. | :18:32.
Roller-coaster as usual. We might have been on the ascendancy in extra | :18:33. | :18:36.
time. But in 90 minutes, the better team won and good luck to them. It | :18:37. | :18:38.
was just not to be. Well, we've got clubs in two Wembley | :18:39. | :18:44.
finals this weekend. York City could go some way | :18:45. | :18:46.
to redeeming a miserable campaign which saw them relegated | :18:47. | :18:49.
for the second season running by lifting the FA Trophy in Sunday's | :18:50. | :18:51.
final against Macclesfield. in 2012, manager Gary Mills | :18:52. | :18:56.
lead York to the FA double when they won promotion back | :18:57. | :19:00.
to the Football League. Despite the drop to | :19:01. | :19:04.
National League North, Mills says there are reasons | :19:05. | :19:06.
to be cheerful. We got to Wembley | :19:07. | :19:07.
because we deserve to. It's a fantastic place to go, | :19:08. | :19:09.
and through adversity, through tough times, | :19:10. | :19:12.
I think everybody should smile. Because there's not many clubs | :19:13. | :19:14.
who would take that many There's not many clubs that | :19:15. | :19:16.
would have players saying I think it's all credit to everybody | :19:17. | :19:19.
connected to this football club. Well, for the ninth season in a row, | :19:20. | :19:27.
a team from the Northern League At lunchtime on Sunday, | :19:28. | :19:31.
South Shields will take on Cleethorpes from the Premier | :19:32. | :19:35.
Division of the Northern And the Mariners' management | :19:36. | :19:37.
team are on the verge of a notable double, | :19:38. | :19:41.
as Jeff Brown reports. Graham Fenton and Lee Picton, | :19:42. | :19:47.
posing with the FA Vase, And if they take the trophy home | :19:48. | :19:49.
with them at the weekend, Lee won it twice as a player | :19:50. | :19:55.
with Whitley Bay, in the days when Wembley | :19:56. | :19:59.
was the club's second home. Graham won it two years ago | :20:00. | :20:04.
as manager of the Mariners' neighbours from over the water - | :20:05. | :20:07.
North Shields. Not the only time he's featured | :20:08. | :20:09.
at the National Stadium. I have been made and one on a couple | :20:10. | :20:16.
of occasions and they have also lost. It is not good when you get | :20:17. | :20:20.
beaten Wembley. We be all out, trying to bring the home. In the | :20:21. | :20:25.
last two finals, North Shields were the favourites going into the game. | :20:26. | :20:29.
We will certainly not be complacent in our camp. | :20:30. | :20:31.
The Northern League champions will have the backing of up | :20:32. | :20:34.
to 15,000 fans - a far cry from the days before | :20:35. | :20:36.
they were rescued by local businessman Geoff Thompson. | :20:37. | :20:39.
It is incredible. Two years in Peterlee, 40 mile round trip for a | :20:40. | :20:50.
home game, all credit to the 60 people returned -- who turned up | :20:51. | :20:56.
week in, week out. I did not expect to get this far this quickly. It is | :20:57. | :21:00.
not just enter me but it is a group of people involved in a for many | :21:01. | :21:03.
years. Helping fret that difficult period. | :21:04. | :21:07.
But it's not just former Premier League star Julio Arca who's | :21:08. | :21:11.
I have played a Scottish Cup final at Hampden. 60,000 people. I am used | :21:12. | :21:20.
to that sort of atmosphere. How excited can you be about going to | :21:21. | :21:24.
Wembley? It is the biggest stage in the country, if not the world at | :21:25. | :21:27.
times. It is one of those places you dream of playing in as a kid. | :21:28. | :21:31.
Now let's hope the Mariners' dream comes true. | :21:32. | :21:34.
Good luck to both our cup final teams. | :21:35. | :21:36.
Also on Sunday, the Premier League season winds up | :21:37. | :21:39.
Boro will try to dent Liverpool's top four hopes, | :21:40. | :21:49.
while David Moyes completes his 499th top | :21:50. | :21:50.
flight game as a manager at champions Chelsea. | :21:51. | :21:52.
Then it's time to discuss plans for next season | :21:53. | :21:55.
We have got a hard one to come straight back up, | :21:56. | :21:58.
a little bit of a softer one, and I need to see | :21:59. | :22:01.
But if you look at the teams that have come back up... | :22:02. | :22:05.
Newcastle would be the one recently. But you could look at other clubs. | :22:06. | :22:08.
Brighton in the past have taken three, four years | :22:09. | :22:11.
to sort of build the club, bring it up. | :22:12. | :22:13.
So there is different ways to get promoted. | :22:14. | :22:15.
Obviously, every Sunderland supporter and myself wants | :22:16. | :22:19.
to hear the quick way, the quickest way we | :22:20. | :22:21.
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough, who're at Anfield on Sunday, | :22:22. | :22:28.
seem likely to keep a core of their squad intact for next | :22:29. | :22:31.
But will that include highly-rated captain Ben Gibson, | :22:32. | :22:36.
despite signing a new five year contract? | :22:37. | :22:38.
He has had a wonderful season as a player in a disappointing | :22:39. | :22:45.
And I have no doubt that Ben will play the majority of his career | :22:46. | :22:53.
Once the Liverpool game is out of the way, then | :22:54. | :23:05.
Interesting. Watch this ace. -- space. | :23:06. | :23:14.
Now, they braved the wind and the rain in an attempt | :23:15. | :23:17.
Hundreds of people descended on the seaside town of Saltburn this | :23:18. | :23:20.
afternoon, attempting to set a record for | :23:21. | :23:22.
Yes, the event - organised by Age UK Teesside - | :23:23. | :23:25.
was aiming to smash the previous record set in Bosnia. | :23:26. | :23:28.
We sent Stuart Whincup to see how they got on. | :23:29. | :23:32.
..then it was time for the record attempt. | :23:33. | :23:48.
Hundreds gathered from across the Northeast, | :23:49. | :23:52.
The youngest was seven, the oldest was 96-year-old war | :23:53. | :23:57.
It is absolutely fabulous, and how crackers is it | :23:58. | :24:06.
It is so quintessentially British to be here and doing | :24:07. | :24:10.
In the end, they missed out on the world record set in Bosnia. | :24:11. | :24:20.
They needed more than the 1,500 couples there. | :24:21. | :24:24.
But, in truth, no-one here seemed to care. | :24:25. | :24:26.
It was incredible to think that so many people turned out | :24:27. | :24:29.
I was quite nervous because you're scared in case you're | :24:30. | :24:34.
It was really fun to do it and I want to do it again. | :24:35. | :24:41.
It's just a shame about the weather, but we came prepared. | :24:42. | :24:44.
In all, 731 people braved the wind and rain. | :24:45. | :24:47.
Not enough for a world record, but enough to become | :24:48. | :24:50.
The important thing is a fantastic time was obviously had by all, | :24:51. | :25:06.
despite the weather. Dancing in the rain as the weather we have been | :25:07. | :25:11.
describing it. Yes, plenty of today and plenty of it on Saturday as | :25:12. | :25:15.
well. Take a look at this. How would you feel if you suddenly saw 2000 | :25:16. | :25:20.
scores in your back garden? This is a dramatic new sculpture being | :25:21. | :25:23.
unveiled in Northumberland -- Northumberland tomorrow. It was | :25:24. | :25:34.
produced by Darren Gough. He spent hundreds of hours at the | :25:35. | :25:38.
Glass Centre in Sunderland filing, glazing and placing all these worlds | :25:39. | :25:42.
on mounts by hand. That is going to be on display tomorrow. It looks | :25:43. | :25:49.
fantastic. What will we have the weather for it? Tomorrow might be a | :25:50. | :25:52.
bit hit and miss. This was the scene today in Alnwick, taken from the | :25:53. | :25:58.
safety of under the umbrella of one of our Weather Watchers. This | :25:59. | :26:03.
weekend, it is quite cool in the mornings with scattered showers | :26:04. | :26:05.
around on Saturday. Sunday is looking drier. This is the picture | :26:06. | :26:10.
through tonight. The rain in the east is easing off but we still have | :26:11. | :26:14.
some quite sharp bursts of rain across parts of the Pennines and | :26:15. | :26:20.
enter Northumberland. Cumbria stays largely dry during a night with | :26:21. | :26:22.
temperatures around eight or nine Celsius. First thing on Saturday | :26:23. | :26:28.
morning, generally dry and bright but the showers will get going as we | :26:29. | :26:31.
head through the day and some of the showers tomorrow will be on the | :26:32. | :26:34.
B-side. If we take a look at how that pans out at around four p.m., | :26:35. | :26:39.
it is a case of sunshine and showers. If Cheryl, long and you | :26:40. | :26:43.
will have a trial by Chris Bell and then another shower. Some of the | :26:44. | :26:46.
showers could be heavy with the odd rumble of thunder, maybe even some | :26:47. | :26:50.
hailstones. Temperatures in the low to mid teens and it might feel | :26:51. | :26:53.
disappointing under the showers. Not too bad when we get sunshine. It is | :26:54. | :26:58.
a mixed bag on Saturday afternoon but it improves as we head into | :26:59. | :27:01.
Sunday. Overnight, it becomes drier with clear spells developing. | :27:02. | :27:05.
Temperatures dipping to around seven or eight Celsius. Sunday looks much | :27:06. | :27:09.
better if you're after a dry and bright day. We will see some change | :27:10. | :27:14.
in the morning and winds will be quite light. Just the chance of one | :27:15. | :27:17.
or two showers in the afternoon and it will feel a bit warmer on Sunday. | :27:18. | :27:21.
Temperatures of around 1617 Celsius with a light rays. Into the start of | :27:22. | :27:27.
next week, it stays relatively dry with sunny spells, feeling warmer | :27:28. | :27:28.
ties around 17 Celsius. Roll on next week. Thank you very | :27:29. | :27:37.
much indeed. That is it from us this evening. Don't forget the late news | :27:38. | :27:40.
that the name 10:30 p.m.. Have a great weekend. -- the late news at | :27:41. | :27:43.
10:30 p.m.. Good night. It's cold. | :27:44. | :27:57.
Tastes a bit like avocado. And soon we're all | :27:58. | :28:02.
going to be eating them. Four crickets have the same amount | :28:03. | :28:06.
of calcium as a glass of milk, and a dung beetle, | :28:07. | :28:09.
twice the protein of beef. | :28:10. | :28:13. |
