The farmer who sold land to the Government

for the A69 Haydon Bridge bypass in Northumberland says she's

still awaiting final payment more than a decade

Annabelle Morshead is owed ?100,000 and says she can't

In 2009, Haydon Bridge finally got its bypass.

It was the last village along the A69 to have the busy trunk road

But eight years on, the family which sold the land to make

the bypass possible still hasn't been fully paid.

My father was always keen - he was chairman of the parish

council of Haydon Bridge - that Haydon Bridge needed

a bypass and when it came that we would facilitate it

but I never thought that we would be still waiting,

coming up for ten years, for such a simple scheme.

The family agreed the sale in 2006 but is still waiting for around

They also say they haven't been properly reimbursed for remedial

In a statement, the Highways Agency told us it was working closely

with the claimants' solicitor and was committed to finding

They have said this for the last couple of years.

Those poor people who are going through HS2 and the dualling

of the A66 and all this, I mean, they need to be warned

that it is not as straightforward as you are led to believe.

Investigations are continuing after the body of a man was found
