There are calls for the govdrnment to publish the letter detailing

the assurances it gave to Nhssan which led to the car maker's

decision to build two new models at its Wearside plant.

The announcement last week safeguards up to 40,000 jobs.

Today Business Secretary Grdg Clarke revealed that a commitment

to negotiate tariff-free tr`de with the EU in Brexit talks

was one factor, but some politicians are calling

for the publication of his letter to Nissan.

I would be really surprised if all that Nissan got

was the reassurances that Greg Clarke has said.

I would like to see the letter published and I would also

like to understand what will happen if we can't get continued t`riff

We may have an odd situation now where senior people in Niss`n

in Japan know more about our Brexit arrangements

It's been reiterated that no finanical incentives were offered

to Nissan and it was the strength of the economy that would pdrsuade

the car-maker and other exporters to invest in the region.

They have said we're going to ensure the UK and the north-east

is the most competitive place to do business with the best tax

Meanwhile the sportswear firm New Balance -

which employs more than 240 people in Cumbria - says it will stay

The American company which has a factory in Flimby says it won t be

pushed out or scared away by regulation or economic f`ctors.

Now while many traditional pubs are struggling to make ends meet,

small, independent breweries are growing.

One in County Durham's not only had to move to bigger premises,

it's also helping to revive a pub style atmosphere in the most unusual

of places and threw a Halloween party today to mark the exp`nsion.

It's a bizarre place to find a pub - in an industrial unit on a trading

estate in Newton Aycliffe, but this is no drinking den,

but a thriving craft ale pub very much still in its business hnfancy

where punters can sit and sup their ales.

We were initially just supplying the local market, we picked up

a wholesale deal nationally and expanded on these sales

and decided we would open it to the public.

of thing and we said no, come down, we'll open it up.

We got a licence and every weekend was just packed full of people
