Good evening. Tonight's main story. Killed on their honeymoon. Tributes | :00:05. | :00:09.
to the newly-weds from Halifax who died in a quad bike accident in the | :00:09. | :00:19.
:00:19. | :00:20. | ||
Maldives. Anybody who came into contact with them felt they laugh | :00:20. | :00:25.
or for each other and everyone else around them. -- love. Also, | :00:25. | :00:28.
policing the traffic in Leeds. Reducing congestion and making sure | :00:28. | :00:37.
bus lanes are for buses. The couple who secured funding for | :00:37. | :00:39.
their matches business in the Dragon's Den. | :00:39. | :00:44.
It has been a beautiful day. This is how it was in Leeds a career. It | :00:45. | :00:51.
will be different tomorrow. I will have the forecast later. -- in the | :00:51. | :01:00.
Leeds area. In sport, we will be talking to | :01:00. | :01:07.
Jamie James Buchanan as the Leeds rhino head for Wembley. Plus, we | :01:07. | :01:14.
will have the football later on. Trip is have been paid to a couple | :01:14. | :01:20.
from Halifax who died in a quad bike accident in the Maldives. Jay | :01:20. | :01:25.
and Emma Gray were married nine days ago and were described as | :01:25. | :01:30.
soulmates. They have a baby boy who has been orphaned by the tragedy. | :01:30. | :01:34.
They had been staying at a peaceful resort popular with British | :01:34. | :01:40.
holidaymakers. Family say they had everything to live for. | :01:40. | :01:45.
25 years old and on their honeymoon, Jay and Emma Gray had a charmed | :01:45. | :01:50.
life ahead of them. The couple from Halifax left their six-month-old | :01:50. | :01:54.
with family and travelled to the Maldives to start their married | :01:54. | :02:01.
life. On Saturday, both were killed when their quad bike was driven | :02:01. | :02:07.
into a tree. At Holy Trinity School where Emma was a teacher, a gift | :02:07. | :02:16.
for a mutt and -- much-loved member of staff. She made everybody feels | :02:16. | :02:20.
she was their best friend. They were caring, and as a couple they | :02:20. | :02:30.
were like that. They used love and everybody felt it. | :02:30. | :02:35.
Jay worked at this kitchen design company. His boss was at the | :02:35. | :02:42.
wedding. I have not experienced anything like this in my life, of | :02:42. | :02:48.
losing two people so close, on their honeymoon. I think of the | :02:49. | :02:54.
family and what they must be going through. At their home there is a | :02:54. | :02:58.
growing spread of flowers and gifts with many friends stopping to pay | :02:58. | :03:03.
respects. Their parents and siblings were too upset to give | :03:03. | :03:08.
interviews but called them a golden couple with everything to live for. | :03:08. | :03:14.
What has happened is unimaginably sad and that is expressed in the | :03:14. | :03:18.
cards and flowers left here. There are many thoughts for their baby | :03:18. | :03:24.
son who is being cared for by Emma's mother. No doubt the | :03:24. | :03:28.
families will make him the focus for their love and energy in the | :03:28. | :03:36.
future. In Maldives, arrangements are made to two fly the bodies home | :03:36. | :03:39.
and an investigation is under way to find out how this tragedy | :03:39. | :03:49.
:03:49. | :03:55. | ||
occurred. There was a tree in the middle of the road, and that seems | :03:55. | :04:05.
:04:05. | :04:07. | ||
to be what happened. They married here in repent and. -- at this | :04:07. | :04:17.
:04:17. | :04:18. | ||
church. It is really awful. How safe are | :04:18. | :04:24.
quad bikes? Our reporter is at a quad bike Centre in Thirsk a that | :04:24. | :04:30.
runs courses on how to drive them safely. | :04:31. | :04:36.
Thankfully, these sorts of accidents are rare. That is a quad | :04:36. | :04:43.
bike in action. We can speak to an expert. How safe are they? They are | :04:43. | :04:48.
very safe provided the riders are properly trained to ride them. | :04:48. | :04:55.
There are certain aspects of quad biking, mainly the load of them and | :04:55. | :04:59.
their stability and centre of gravity. When those loads are | :04:59. | :05:05.
exceeded, the gravity changes. It can cause a different way of riding. | :05:05. | :05:12.
What else can happen? It is essential that safety is followed. | :05:12. | :05:17.
Nobody should ride a quad bike without safety gear, a proper | :05:17. | :05:23.
helmet, gloves and flesh covered. Are there are restrictions about | :05:24. | :05:30.
how many people can ride them? most of them are designed for a | :05:30. | :05:34.
single rider. If you try to put more than one person on a single | :05:34. | :05:39.
seat quad bike, the centre of gravity has changed and it will not | :05:39. | :05:47.
handle. Fatalities are rare? Very rare, thankfully. We believe in | :05:47. | :05:53.
training to a high standard. And to start as young as possible, so | :05:53. | :05:57.
individuals can learn the abilities of the machines and their own | :05:57. | :06:02.
abilities. What advice would you have somebody going abroad who is | :06:02. | :06:10.
tempted to get on a quad bike? is a great risk. They look a lot of | :06:10. | :06:15.
fun and they are. But there is little opportunity in that scenario | :06:15. | :06:22.
for training. Do not go outside the comfort zone and make sure it is a | :06:22. | :06:29.
good standard and safety equipment is warm. Investigations are | :06:29. | :06:39.
continuing in the Maldives. Five patients operated on by the | :06:39. | :06:44.
same surgeon in Rotherham have been awarded three-quarters of a million | :06:44. | :06:48.
pounds in compensation. Manjit Bhamra specialised in hip | :06:48. | :06:52.
replacement surgery and practised at the district general hospital | :06:52. | :06:59.
under -- until 2007. One patient said that he is in constant pain | :06:59. | :07:03.
despite further surgery to try to correct the problems. | :07:03. | :07:08.
In 2006, this man underwent surgery on his hip. It was supposed to make | :07:08. | :07:13.
his life easier. Instead, he is in constant pain and is dependent on | :07:13. | :07:19.
his wife to get around. I totally have to rely on her. If she was not | :07:19. | :07:25.
here, I would not be able to manage. She dresses me in the morning and | :07:25. | :07:31.
helps me in the bath. She helps me out of bed during the night. He has | :07:31. | :07:36.
had to adapt his furniture to make it easier to sit down. He took his | :07:36. | :07:40.
complaints to a solicitor in Sheffield and discovered he was one | :07:40. | :07:47.
in five cases involving the same surgeon. There were common themes | :07:47. | :07:52.
we looked at. Technical failings. And a lack of follow-up care, | :07:52. | :07:59.
discharging people too quickly after the operation. The Rotherham | :07:59. | :08:04.
NHS Trust said that the doctor was a full-time orthopedic surgeon | :08:04. | :08:10.
working here. He specialised in hip replacements until September 2007. | :08:10. | :08:15.
They said after that they were aware about concerns about his | :08:15. | :08:19.
practice and referred him to the General Medical Council. That | :08:19. | :08:27.
investigation is ongoing. You trust them. Whatever the operation is, | :08:27. | :08:34.
you trust them. That the surgeon is capable of doing the job. When you | :08:34. | :08:37.
find out they are not, you have to question who is employing these | :08:37. | :08:43.
people. The patients have received a total of three-quarters of a | :08:43. | :08:49.
million pounds in compensation. Coming up later. Success on the | :08:50. | :08:57.
streets of London. The Brownlee brothers from Leeds shine in the a | :08:57. | :09:05.
triathlon course. An area by Rother Valley Country | :09:05. | :09:10.
Park looks set to become a 100 million Tiny's themed park. The | :09:10. | :09:15.
council chose the project after the earlier Yes Project was shelved. | :09:15. | :09:21.
Those behind the scheme say it will include oriental gardens, a hotel | :09:21. | :09:26.
and a re creation of the Great Wall of China. It will take two years to | :09:26. | :09:32.
build and will create 400 new jobs. It is unique. People will be | :09:32. | :09:38.
curious as to why we have this here. It will make them want to look at | :09:38. | :09:45.
it. I believe they will come back again because it is a good | :09:45. | :09:51.
experience. Also, another boost for Rotherham. Rolls Royce submitted | :09:51. | :09:56.
plans for two factories that will employed 350 people. They want to | :09:56. | :10:01.
build three factories in total on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in | :10:01. | :10:04.
Rotherham. The Sheffield United striker Ched | :10:04. | :10:10.
Evans has appeared in court charged with rape. He and another man faced | :10:10. | :10:14.
magistrates in north Wales. They are accused of raping a woman in a | :10:14. | :10:20.
hotel. They will appear at Crown Court later this month. | :10:20. | :10:24.
A Scarborough guesthouse owner has been jailed for spying and filming | :10:24. | :10:29.
couples while they were in their rooms. Paul Williams who runs the | :10:29. | :10:33.
Amberleigh House was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison after admitting | :10:33. | :10:36.
two charges under the sexual offences Act. | :10:36. | :10:41.
A Church in North Yorkshire have to suspend services for the first time | :10:41. | :10:46.
in 1,000 years because of bat droppings. Members of St Hilda's | :10:46. | :10:52.
church in Ellerton have spent 10,000 in trying to encourage the | :10:52. | :10:56.
animals into specially built homes. With no success, of the Church | :10:56. | :11:02.
might have to close for good unless permission is to remove -- given to | :11:02. | :11:05.
remove them. Organisers of Leeds Pride say the | :11:05. | :11:12.
event was a massive success. They estimate that up to 25,000 people | :11:12. | :11:16.
managed to make it to the city centre. | :11:16. | :11:21.
I hope everybody had a good time. If you have ever gone into the bus | :11:21. | :11:26.
lane to dodge heavy traffic, beware. From today, driving on bus lanes in | :11:26. | :11:31.
Leeds could lead to a 60 fine. The council says the penalty is needed | :11:31. | :11:40.
to prevent rogue motorists clocking up the lanes. -- blocking lanes. | :11:40. | :11:45.
It is a tempting way of cutting through heavy traffic. Driving in | :11:45. | :11:50.
bus lanes is illegal and if you try it after today in Leeds, there will | :11:50. | :11:55.
be a 60 penalty enforced by cameras at the roadside and on the | :11:55. | :11:59.
buses themselves. The move has gone down badly with motorists. | :11:59. | :12:03.
People should not go in bus lanes, but I do not think they should be | :12:03. | :12:08.
fined. It will cost more money to do things like that where we have | :12:08. | :12:13.
enough cameras. We do not need any more. It is good in the rush-hour. | :12:13. | :12:21.
On Saturday and Sunday, you should be able to use them. It is always | :12:21. | :12:26.
good that the bus lane is clear. The council wants the bus lanes to | :12:26. | :12:31.
be more reliable. They say they are often held up behind cars in bus | :12:31. | :12:37.
lanes. In a survey, almost 2000 drivers were caught breaking the | :12:37. | :12:43.
law in three days. A bus carries 50 or 60 people, and they are going to | :12:43. | :12:49.
work, the shops and to college. Anybody who parks in the bar -- bus | :12:49. | :12:54.
lane will hold people up. The city council has sent out a dummy | :12:54. | :12:58.
penalty notices warning drivers that they are leaving themselves | :12:58. | :13:04.
open to a fine if they go into the bus lane. This morning, the system | :13:04. | :13:11.
when line. Driving in bus lanes has always been illegal, even so, this | :13:11. | :13:15.
move might go down badly. But officials say this move is badly- | :13:15. | :13:25.
:13:25. | :13:27. | ||
Stay with us. Lots to come. 80,000 of investment, for example. The | :13:27. | :13:30.
Dewsbury couple who managed to tame a dragon when they entered at the | :13:30. | :13:39.
Den. That man has the most incredible | :13:39. | :13:44.
trainers! We will be talking about the | :13:44. | :13:50.
Challenge Cup. Leeds Rhinos got to the final. What a dramatic day at | :13:50. | :13:58.
the Keepmoat Stadium. 2-0 at the break. Rangi Chase made a superb | :13:58. | :14:07.
They were eight-two up with 10 minutes to go. Kallum Watkins | :14:07. | :14:12.
showed experience beyond his years with this move. Two minutes into | :14:12. | :14:16.
the golden. Extra-time, Kevin Sinfield slotted home the penalty. | :14:16. | :14:26.
:14:26. | :14:33. | ||
The has it sunk in? Yes, I am still tired and my heart is still beating. | :14:33. | :14:40.
I am chuffed to bits. The lads are made up. We can go down to Wembley. | :14:40. | :14:44.
It is great for us and something we have been working towards. We are | :14:44. | :14:49.
chuffed to bits. You must have a thought for Castleford and their | :14:49. | :14:58.
fans, because they played so well. They were outstanding. It certainly | :14:58. | :15:06.
felt like the game had ball played ball than any this year. It was an | :15:06. | :15:10.
end to end game. It felt like that ride to the death. It is the first | :15:10. | :15:16.
time I have played an extra time game. They were brilliant. We know | :15:16. | :15:20.
you are chomping at the bid to have your say! | :15:20. | :15:28.
If you hadn't played well this season, -- you haven't played well. | :15:28. | :15:32.
Will that the Wigan final be the spur you need? We have got over | :15:33. | :15:38.
that with Wembley. We have learned a few lessons from last year. We | :15:38. | :15:44.
will probably do things a bit differently. We have two weeks to | :15:44. | :15:54.
:15:54. | :15:58. | ||
prepare and two bigger games. We have Harlequins coming up. The lads | :15:58. | :16:03.
have always had faith. There is a wealth of experience. You say you | :16:03. | :16:08.
are going to do things differently - what do you mean? It is a new | :16:08. | :16:14.
coach and a different year, so we will do it the way he wants. | :16:14. | :16:18.
Wembley is great and a lot of people think that is the big prize, | :16:18. | :16:22.
but the big prize is coming home with the Challenge Cup and winning | :16:22. | :16:28.
it. All that yesterday is for nothing if we don't go down and win. | :16:28. | :16:35.
A thank you for joining us. The Brownlee brothers both made the | :16:35. | :16:41.
podium at Hyde Park in London. The altar of the pair, Alistair, was | :16:41. | :16:46.
first, and Johnny was third. We have always known these two were | :16:46. | :16:49.
special but as we inch ever closer to the Olympics, they seem to be | :16:49. | :16:54.
getting stronger and stronger. This is the Olympic course and Alistair, | :16:54. | :16:59.
the old of the brothers at 23, dominated the competition. He was | :16:59. | :17:07.
in a breakaway group of four cyclists that headed the field. But | :17:07. | :17:12.
it was on the runway he showed his strength, leaving the rest of the | :17:12. | :17:16.
field trailing in his wake. Johnny's run was impressive, too, | :17:16. | :17:20.
taking him to third. But his big brother was so far ahead, he could | :17:20. | :17:25.
just enjoy the occasion. It made the race comfortable. The | :17:25. | :17:29.
atmosphere was absolutely incredible. Quite large parts of | :17:29. | :17:35.
the course had people all the way round. This last bit was incredible. | :17:35. | :17:40.
Thousands of people and one of the best atmospheres I have ever seen. | :17:40. | :17:46.
I didn't know I had got it. I am really pleased, but shattered. | :17:46. | :17:50.
would be incredible if they could both be on the podium in 12 months' | :17:50. | :17:55.
time. We are just one game into the | :17:55. | :18:00.
football season, but what a costly one for Doncaster Rovers. Star | :18:00. | :18:04.
striker Billy Sharp was carried off with an injury and will be seeing a | :18:04. | :18:08.
specialist tomorrow to see how long he will be out for. There were | :18:08. | :18:15.
opening day wins for Sheffield and Rotherham United. | :18:15. | :18:25.
:18:25. | :18:26. | ||
The highs and lows of football in Billy Sharp puts his team a 1-0 up. | :18:27. | :18:32.
Then a crunching tackle comes in that leaves him in agony. He is | :18:32. | :18:38.
taken off the field on a stretcher. His colleague is also carried off | :18:38. | :18:48.
:18:48. | :18:55. | ||
start for Barnsley. The boss is happy. It is a dream to be here, | :18:55. | :19:01.
managing Barnsley. It is a bit of a reality check. Leeds fans who | :19:01. | :19:05.
feared their team is not good enough will not have been | :19:05. | :19:09.
encouraged by their defeat to Southampton. There was loads of | :19:09. | :19:16.
time to score the opener, but Leeds went on to lose 3-1. Richard | :19:16. | :19:19.
Cresswell stole in for the second goal of the game as Sheffield | :19:19. | :19:24.
United started life in League One with a win. 2-0 was the final score | :19:24. | :19:30.
against Oldham. Sheffield Wednesday were also beating Lancastrian | :19:30. | :19:38.
opposition two-0. What about this finish against Rochdale? A skipper | :19:38. | :19:44.
Peter Clarke made a clear foul. But they did not make good on their | :19:44. | :19:52.
fortune. Last season's League Two champions Chesterfield were undone | :19:52. | :20:02.
at trendier. -- Tranmere. Another beauty of a goal in league two. And | :20:02. | :20:08.
finally, over 10,000 fans turned up to watch Bradford City lose 2-122 | :20:08. | :20:14.
Aldershot. All will be forgiven if they can beat Leeds United in the | :20:14. | :20:24.
:20:24. | :20:24. | ||
You can catch longer highlights on your local BBC website. That is it | :20:24. | :20:32.
from me. Have I been boring year?! He is just getting a bit tired! He | :20:32. | :20:38.
has been up late. It is all to do with the fact that | :20:38. | :20:41.
the owners of a Dewsbury manufacturing business are | :20:41. | :20:46.
celebrating after winning 80,000 on Dragons' Den. | :20:46. | :20:52.
It was scary! Lives and Alan Colleran endured two two hours of | :20:52. | :20:59.
grilling. You were in tears, Liz. looked like I was! It was before | :20:59. | :21:04.
the new Dragon, Hilary Devey, agreed to invest the 80,000 they | :21:04. | :21:09.
needed, to make memory foam mattresses for caravans. | :21:09. | :21:14.
We will give them their -- our own grilling, but first here is their | :21:14. | :21:20.
pitch. Our best-selling product is our most innovative product. It is | :21:20. | :21:24.
a really simple. It has a special memory phone base which smooths out | :21:24. | :21:29.
the lumps and bumps in hard caravan seats. It is totally open on one | :21:29. | :21:35.
side, so you are not constricted like a sleeping bag. When you are | :21:35. | :21:39.
up against a cold war, it is totally dry. But they didn't like | :21:39. | :21:44.
some aspects of the pitch. How did you react to that? Based said you | :21:44. | :21:50.
needed more passion. I think they like to the passion. What they did | :21:50. | :21:54.
not like was that we did not know the figures. But we do know the | :21:54. | :21:58.
figures, we just could not bring them out in that situation. You are | :21:58. | :22:03.
under such pressure. If I you're not allowed to write a spreadsheet | :22:03. | :22:10.
down? You are not. To I thought you were doing really well and knew | :22:10. | :22:13.
exactly what your staff cost, but it is just thinking when they ask | :22:13. | :22:19.
you it. It wasn't on the film, but she did say that we would have them | :22:19. | :22:23.
printed out if we needed them. We had remembered everything else. We | :22:24. | :22:27.
knew how many caravans were in every country, how much the product | :22:27. | :22:32.
cost, what were the last three years' figures and the next three | :22:32. | :22:36.
years' projected figures. We did just not have a breakdown of the | :22:36. | :22:42.
projected cost. What did you need 80,000 for? To start manufacturing | :22:42. | :22:47.
our own phone. At the moment, we buy it in. We want to be vertically | :22:47. | :22:53.
integrated. Third-degree integrated? Sounds wonderful! On | :22:53. | :22:59.
those quiz shows, they say, it lets go and see what you could win. We | :22:59. | :23:07.
have a model here. He has had a hard weekend and is tired! It is | :23:07. | :23:17.

such a simple idea. this on the dressing room and have | :23:23. | :23:32.
a nap before tonight's laid bulletin. Is it comfortable? Yes. A | :23:32. | :23:40.
pillow would help. It is a memory mattress, is it? Yes, it is easy to | :23:40. | :23:50.

Harry did it beautifully and elegantly. Not everyone in the den | :23:54. | :23:59.
did it so beautifully. This is Deborah Meaden. I am really | :23:59. | :24:03.
disappointed. I have no problem with people getting passionate but | :24:03. | :24:10.
you border on the defensive. You have got to give any a reason and | :24:10. | :24:16.
enough information to want to hand you my money. I promise you - if | :24:16. | :24:21.
you had, you would have had an investment from me. But you got an | :24:21. | :24:27.
investment from the new dragon. from Hilary Devey. It turned out | :24:27. | :24:31.
well for us because she is a really good dragon to have on board. | :24:31. | :24:36.
are delighted for you. Thank you for bringing this in. | :24:36. | :24:42.
Can ask you one thing? Has she been to your business? She has promised | :24:42. | :24:45.
to mental you and give you that marketing experience. We have met | :24:45. | :24:50.
her a couple of times and she is really nice. She makes me look like | :24:50. | :25:00.

That looks very complete! It has been a wet weekend. -- constable. | :25:04. | :25:11.
This is a golfer wading back to the club house. This is the remains of | :25:11. | :25:15.
a telegraph pole after it was struck by lightning. This afternoon, | :25:15. | :25:21.
most of the heavy showers have been to the east. This is just east of | :25:21. | :25:28.
York. Keep your pictures coming. Today has been unsettled for | :25:28. | :25:32.
eastern parts. It will be a better day for all this tomorrow. It will | :25:32. | :25:37.
be bright and and you can see a ridge of high pressure building | :25:37. | :25:43.
from the south. Out in the Atlantic, there is another area of low | :25:43. | :25:50.
pressure which will bring up wet weather back. The white cloud in | :25:50. | :25:54.
the East brought heavy showers. They have been rowing down eastern | :25:54. | :25:58.
parts and are still affecting eastern parts of North Yorkshire. | :25:58. | :26:03.
Any showers we still have will die away during the night. It becomes | :26:03. | :26:09.
dry. Skies will clear from the north. It has been a blustery day | :26:09. | :26:17.
today and temperatures will be down to seven degrees towards the Dales. | :26:17. | :26:23.
Tomorrow, quite a cold start to the day and the sun will rise at 5:34am, | :26:23. | :26:33.
:26:33. | :26:33. | ||
and set again at 8:48pm. Tomorrow, a cool start but it will be a | :26:33. | :26:37.
bright start. The sun will shine and any cloud should break up so | :26:37. | :26:40.
there should be plenty of sunshine in the morning. That will be the | :26:40. | :26:44.
best of the weather because cloud will come in again through the | :26:44. | :26:49.
afternoon. For most of us, a dry day with some brighter, sunny | :26:49. | :26:55.
spells to be found a towards the Pennines. Not as breezy as today, | :26:55. | :26:59.
but it will still feel quite cool because the wind macro is -- the | :26:59. | :27:09.
wind is coming down from the north. 17 degrees towards the Pennines and | :27:09. | :27:14.
Peak District. Make the most of tomorrow if you can because the wet | :27:14. | :27:18.
weather returns on Wednesday. It turns a bit lighter for Wednesday | :27:18. | :27:22.
afternoon. Temperatures back to where they should be for the end of | :27:22. | :27:26. |
