Good evening. On Look North tonight: A husband tells of his | :00:07. | :00:11.
devastation at the loss of his wife. An inquest recalls the tragedy of | :00:11. | :00:16.
the day a barbecue turned into a deadly campsite killer. | :00:16. | :00:19.
Also tonight, vehicle identity theft. We meet the man facing | :00:19. | :00:24.
dozens of fines from all over the country after his car number plate | :00:24. | :00:28.
was cloned. And the Blades jump into an | :00:28. | :00:32.
automatic promotion place after an emphatic win in League One. | :00:32. | :00:36.
A warning that gales could return for a short time late Ayrtonite. | :00:36. | :00:44.
All the very latest coming up shortly. | :00:44. | :00:54.
:00:54. | :00:56. | ||
A 68-year-old man's been fined more than 1300 and banned from driving | :00:56. | :01:02.
for nine months after being clocked at 147mph in nonk Yorkshire. Owen | :01:02. | :01:07.
swift was doing more than double the speed limit on the Malton | :01:07. | :01:11.
bypass. We have been following the case at Scarborough Magistrates | :01:11. | :01:20.
Court. Owen swift was driving home on the | :01:20. | :01:26.
Malton bypass when he was caught by police with a laser police gun | :01:26. | :01:30.
doing 147mph. Now, the 68-year-old, who is a company director, was in | :01:30. | :01:36.
his Jaguar XKR at the time, a car he told the court today he'd bought | :01:36. | :01:42.
for 81,000 just three months earlier. -- earlier. When police | :01:42. | :01:45.
stopped him, he said to them "that's it, you are going to crease | :01:45. | :01:49.
me, you could have just given me a telling off at my age, it's my | :01:49. | :01:53.
livelihood". In court today though, Swift said he was innocent, said | :01:53. | :01:57.
police stopped the wrong car, the magistrates didn't believe him and | :01:57. | :02:02.
disqualified him from driving for nine months and ordered him to pay | :02:02. | :02:08.
more than 1300. Swift was still insisting he was innocent when I | :02:08. | :02:13.
caught up with him. The magistrates have listened to nothing, they | :02:13. | :02:17.
haven't listened to the evidence. They just believe two policemen who | :02:17. | :02:21.
were in, well, they've no evidence. So you are saying that car wasn't | :02:21. | :02:25.
you? Yes, I am saying that car wasn't me. Were you not speeding? | :02:25. | :02:29.
No, I wasn't there. The magistrates said they accepted the evidence of | :02:29. | :02:32.
police, they were sure the correct car had been stopped. Sergeant | :02:32. | :02:37.
Clayton was the man who pulled Swift over and he spoke to me after | :02:37. | :02:41.
the verdict. This particular evening, the | :02:41. | :02:46.
weather was fine, road conditions were light, 147mph, there was only | :02:46. | :02:50.
one safe place for that and that is at a racetrack. The national roads | :02:50. | :02:54.
we provide are not safe. If something went wrong at that time, | :02:54. | :03:00.
I would have been dealing with Mr Swift's family in a different way | :03:00. | :03:04.
than I am now. If something went wrong at 147mph, I'm not saying | :03:04. | :03:08.
that he would have been killed, but he surely wouldn't have had much of | :03:08. | :03:12.
a chance. The magistrates said in court today | :03:12. | :03:18.
that in 30 years on the bench, 147mph is the highest speed he'd | :03:18. | :03:20.
ever experienced. Mr Swift meanwhile says he won't be fighting | :03:20. | :03:25.
the verdict, he told me it's just a ban, that's life, he's now off to | :03:25. | :03:35.
:03:35. | :03:36. | ||
live in Spain. A father of two was describing the moment his wife was | :03:36. | :03:40.
poisoned by carbon dioxide. He took his family on a trip to North Wales. | :03:40. | :03:44.
A barbecue they cooked their evening meal on killed his wife as | :03:44. | :03:50.
she slept. Tom Ingall has been at the inquest today and is live in | :03:50. | :03:55.
Khan ah van. What to we know -- Caernarfon. I don't think I've ever | :03:55. | :03:58.
heard as vivid a description as carbon dioxide poisoning as I have | :03:58. | :04:03.
done in court today. Ben Screen in Chesterfield had taken his family | :04:03. | :04:06.
and wife on holiday. He described in court waking up in the night | :04:06. | :04:10.
almost unable to move, trying to stand, feeling dizzy, falling over, | :04:10. | :04:16.
hitting his head. He said he woke up later to find he'd been sick and | :04:16. | :04:19.
he had to crawl to the outside of the tent to raise the alarm. He | :04:19. | :04:23.
survived the poisoning, so did his seven-year-old and four-year-old, | :04:23. | :04:28.
but sadly it killed his wife. Today was her inquest. | :04:28. | :04:32.
A family camping holiday which turned to tragedy. Tonight, as a | :04:32. | :04:37.
coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death on 34-year-old | :04:37. | :04:40.
Tracey Screen, her husband paid tribute. | :04:40. | :04:47.
I would like to thank all the people in these difficult times, | :04:47. | :04:52.
from the family, the support we've needed. All the people that knew | :04:53. | :04:56.
Tracey will have a big hole in their lives that will never be | :04:56. | :05:04.
filled. We love her. The court close to the campsite | :05:04. | :05:08.
heard from Mr Screen. After enjoying a barbecue, the family | :05:08. | :05:12.
brought the cooker inside their tent. Overnight, it slowly poisoned | :05:12. | :05:17.
them. The next morning, Ben Screen crawled outside for help, his cries | :05:17. | :05:21.
heard by a fellow camper. Heard some shouting again. As I walked up | :05:21. | :05:25.
to the tent, we thought it was coming from there, he was trying to | :05:25. | :05:33.
get out. So I unzipped it and seen inside, two little kids. We got the | :05:33. | :05:40.
little kids out. We called the emergency services. A barbecue in a | :05:40. | :05:45.
cooling down process is something that happens with a charcoal | :05:45. | :05:50.
barbecue every time you finish using it. As the cooling down | :05:50. | :05:52.
continues, the carbon dioxide that's given off increases. That | :05:52. | :05:55.
would have been a particular problem in this confined space | :05:55. | :06:00.
where there was very little air circulating around? Absolutely, yes, | :06:00. | :06:05.
Sir. The coroner said Mrs Screen was yet another victim of the | :06:05. | :06:08.
silent odourless killer, carbon dioxide. He said everyone should be | :06:08. | :06:13.
aware of its dangers and its fatal consequences. | :06:13. | :06:16.
The public authority's safety message tonight is, with a barbecue, | :06:16. | :06:20.
it isn't just the fire that's a danger, just like a gas heater or | :06:20. | :06:24.
light, you need to consider the risk of carbon dioxide. Safety | :06:24. | :06:27.
leaflets are available, the authorities say pick one up, | :06:27. | :06:31.
understand the dangers before you go on holiday. | :06:31. | :06:38.
Thank you. Very upsetting. This story isn't unique sadly. Last July, | :06:38. | :06:42.
30-year-old Hazel from Slaithwaite died from carbon dioxide while she | :06:42. | :06:46.
and her partner were camping. They pulled the barbecue inside the tent | :06:46. | :06:51.
after it went out. Hazel's partner Roland is with us now. You are a | :06:51. | :06:53.
forensic scientist and you are working on something to try to make | :06:53. | :06:58.
sure this doesn't Han again aren't you? Absolutely. Apart from public | :06:58. | :07:03.
awareness, we'd like to conduct a two-year experiment, the first | :07:03. | :07:08.
phase will be a laboratory-based experiment where we investigate the | :07:08. | :07:12.
precise nature of carbon dioxide and how it comes off commercially | :07:12. | :07:15.
available charcoal and with different accelerants. Then in the | :07:15. | :07:19.
second phase, we want to bring what we've learned from the laboratory | :07:19. | :07:24.
experiments to the real world where we will conduct experiments in real | :07:24. | :07:34.
tents and see how long carbon dioxide is around and try to find a | :07:34. | :07:39.
solution for it. How can you make a tent carbon dioxide safe? We are | :07:39. | :07:44.
hoping for a modification of the way tents are produced, so there | :07:44. | :07:47.
may be some ventilation systems that can be cheaply and easily put | :07:47. | :07:52.
in by the tent manufacturers. There may be small alarm units that can | :07:52. | :07:58.
be rented out from the campsites or potentially bought in and out of | :07:58. | :08:01.
shops. There may be different fabrics that change colour when | :08:01. | :08:03.
there's carbon dioxide around, but of course that would only alert | :08:03. | :08:07.
campers when they are awake. That brought back terrible memories for | :08:07. | :08:10.
you because you passed out as well didn't you overnight before you | :08:10. | :08:15.
lost your wife? That's right. I was poisoned as well, sleeping right | :08:15. | :08:20.
next to Hazel. Somehow, and we don't know why precisely, I | :08:20. | :08:25.
survived, but during the night I had somehow got up halfway and had | :08:25. | :08:29.
fallen on to my right arm which caused me a great injury, but well, | :08:29. | :08:33.
I'm still alive and Hazel isn't. Thank you, I hope your research | :08:33. | :08:40.
bears fruit as well. Thank you. Later on, Kell's latest opponent is | :08:40. | :08:46.
announced. Book's next encounter will be a War of the Roses clash. | :08:46. | :08:48.
-- brook. Also tonight, have you ever been | :08:48. | :08:51.
sent a parking fine from somewhere you have never been to? How about a | :08:51. | :08:55.
speeding ticket even though your car was off the road? If so, you | :08:55. | :08:59.
may have become the latest victim of car cloning. | :09:00. | :09:04.
This is all about different cars having the same number plate. You | :09:04. | :09:07.
get your number plate stolen and someone else uses it. Because the | :09:07. | :09:12.
plate is registered to you, you're the one who receives the fines. | :09:12. | :09:16.
It's much more common than you think. Last year, the AA said there | :09:16. | :09:19.
had been 40,000 cases of number plate theft. That's more than | :09:20. | :09:24.
doubled in the past five years. In a moment, we'll talk to a transport | :09:24. | :09:28.
expert about what you can do if it happens to you, but first, we have | :09:28. | :09:32.
been talking to one man who's received almost 30 parking fines | :09:32. | :09:38.
from places he's never even been. Since last summer, the fines have | :09:38. | :09:42.
been dropping through this man's letterbox at the rate of one a week. | :09:42. | :09:47.
They are for offences he says he hasn't committed and places he's | :09:47. | :09:52.
never been to. It became clear to him that his car number plate had | :09:52. | :09:55.
been cloned. I think in one particular week we had nearly six, | :09:55. | :10:00.
followed up by parking notices for mainly places in the south of the | :10:00. | :10:06.
country that we hadn't visited. London, Plymouth, Swindon. Places | :10:06. | :10:12.
that were definitely not on either mine or my wife's itinerary. Altaf | :10:12. | :10:16.
spent many hours trying to prove his innocence and appealing against | :10:16. | :10:19.
the fines. The process was made more difficult because the offences | :10:19. | :10:24.
were dealt with by different police forces, but now his local MP is | :10:24. | :10:34.
calling for big changes. People get fines, they get threatening letters | :10:34. | :10:37.
and it can affect their insurance. It's a serious matter and the | :10:37. | :10:40.
criminals know the police don't take it seriously enough. There are | :10:40. | :10:44.
thought to be around 10,000 cloned cars on the roads in the UK, one of | :10:44. | :10:47.
the most common ways to steal the identity of a vehicle is to | :10:47. | :10:52.
physically remove the plates from one car and then attach them to | :10:52. | :10:56.
another vehicle that's identical in the model, make and colour. | :10:56. | :11:01.
Garages like this one in Leeds have to register with the DVLA to make | :11:01. | :11:04.
number plates and could lose their licence if they are found to be | :11:04. | :11:08.
making fakes, but criminals also use replicas which they can get | :11:08. | :11:12.
over the Internet with no proof of identity. Altaf hasn't had a fine | :11:12. | :11:17.
since Christmas, so he's hoping his registration number is no longer | :11:17. | :11:20.
being used. But there are still thousands of other innocent car | :11:20. | :11:27.
owners being accused of crimes they didn't commit. We were talking | :11:27. | :11:31.
about this in the office, I think I was the only person who had never | :11:31. | :11:37.
heard of it. Trment experiment Paul fir man is here to tell us it's | :11:37. | :11:47.
:11:47. | :11:49. | ||
quite common. -- experiment Paul Firman joins us now. If anyone | :11:49. | :11:54.
hasn't been fined or caught, you would never know? Until you get | :11:54. | :11:57.
unexpectedly a fine or fee through the door, you don't know your car's | :11:57. | :12:03.
even been cloned in this way, so it's comes as a massive shock to | :12:03. | :12:07.
people. What is worrying is that if this happens down south and, we are | :12:07. | :12:10.
asking a local police force to cover it, they are not going to be | :12:10. | :12:15.
interested are they, they are going to pass it on to Sussex or whenever | :12:15. | :12:19.
it's handicapped, it may be difficult to prove your innocence? | :12:19. | :12:25.
And you could be in the same area where the car was cloned and it | :12:25. | :12:29.
gets difficult to prove. How is it done? The thieves target a car | :12:29. | :12:33.
which is the identical make, model and colour to your one... So they | :12:34. | :12:38.
might come up to Yorkshire looking for a black Volvo? Possibly, may | :12:38. | :12:42.
might even find you on the Internet, car salesmen and such like, take a | :12:42. | :12:46.
clone of a car which they've already got in London and it can be | :12:46. | :12:52.
done that easily. What can we do to stop this from happening? What | :12:52. | :12:56.
about putting a tracker in, that would prove where we were? Yes, a | :12:56. | :13:00.
tracker would certainly help, also maybe if you are aware that you've | :13:00. | :13:03.
received a fine that you didn't actually incur, the best thing to | :13:03. | :13:07.
do is get as much evidence as you can, perhaps keep receipts from | :13:07. | :13:11.
petrol stations you visited, maybe qualification from neighbours that | :13:11. | :13:15.
you were at home on a certain date or time, possibly even photograph | :13:15. | :13:21.
your car in your garage. Hang on a minute. It's a criminal offence. If | :13:21. | :13:25.
a lots of the police that we have been talking to have been saying | :13:25. | :13:29.
until something serious happens, there's nothing really we can do, | :13:29. | :13:33.
but, you know, I'd hate to think my car number could potentially in the | :13:33. | :13:37.
future be used for a robbery or something? Yes, there are steps you | :13:37. | :13:42.
can take. The best thing to do is try and make sure that your | :13:42. | :13:44.
registration plate is notified as soon as possible if you think you | :13:44. | :13:48.
have been cloned. So advise the police, advise the driver of the | :13:48. | :13:51.
vehicle licencing agency, also get in contact with the authority | :13:51. | :13:54.
that's fined you and then get as much evidence as you possibly can. | :13:54. | :13:58.
You might also be able to fit perhaps some detachable plates | :13:58. | :14:02.
which break off if thieves try to steal the plates. They don't always | :14:02. | :14:06.
have to steal the plates though, they can just take the number. | :14:06. | :14:09.
the Internet? Yes, didn't realise it was a serious problem. Thank you | :14:09. | :14:13.
very much. A rapist from Bradford who self-styled himself as a | :14:13. | :14:16.
preacher of the word of God has been given a life sentence with a | :14:16. | :14:21.
minimum 12 and a half years for a catalogue of violence going back 20 | :14:21. | :14:25.
years. Brian Jackson, a former TA soldier, was found guilty at | :14:25. | :14:29.
Bradford Crown Court of rapes, attempted rape and wounding | :14:29. | :14:33.
involving five women and a man. The judge said he was disturbed, | :14:33. | :14:36.
violent and depraved. Little Chef has announced it's | :14:36. | :14:40.
closing more than a third of its branches with the loss of up to 600 | :14:40. | :14:43.
jobs across the country. The Sheffield-based chain was taken | :14:43. | :14:49.
over four years ago, the new owners say they inherited a number of | :14:49. | :14:53.
unprofitable sites. 67 branches will close out of a total of 161. | :14:53. | :14:57.
An investigation has begun into what started a huge fire at an | :14:57. | :15:01.
industrial unit in Rotherham last night. Staff on the night shift at | :15:02. | :15:05.
the Envelope Master warehouse off Aldwarke Lane managed to get out | :15:05. | :15:10.
Saifly as paper, card, plastics and bubblewrap caught light. 6069 | :15:10. | :15:18.
firefighters worked to stop it spreading to nearby premises. | :15:18. | :15:26.
Plans for a Tesco store in Holmfirth has been given the go | :15:26. | :15:33.
ahead, but hundreds don't agree. Hundreds attended a meeting to hear | :15:33. | :15:40.
about the plans. It withdrew its plans in 2009 but has a replacement | :15:41. | :15:46.
scheme. When Tesco announces plans for a new store, it often faces | :15:46. | :15:49.
opposition. At a meeting in Holmfirth last | :15:49. | :15:54.
night, there was some opposition, but also support for a new | :15:54. | :15:59.
supermarket. We feel that Holmfirth needs | :15:59. | :16:04.
another larger supermarket. It's the second time Tesco have tried to | :16:04. | :16:09.
build in Holmfirth. They withdrew plans two years ago and are now | :16:09. | :16:12.
hoping their slightly smaller proposal will be backed by | :16:12. | :16:15.
residents. If we have a store within Holmfirth, that means people | :16:15. | :16:19.
don't have to travel quite so far and it increases the opportunities | :16:19. | :16:24.
they have to vuz it the town centre. Tesco's store though won't be in | :16:24. | :16:29.
Holmfirth town centre, it will be a mile away up a steep hill -- visit | :16:29. | :16:34.
the town centre. Small retailers fear people will park at Tesco and | :16:34. | :16:38.
turn their backs on Holmfirth. There is a planned mock closure of | :16:38. | :16:43.
shops planned to show what could happen, something that was born in | :16:43. | :16:49.
Barnoldswick where retailers are fighting a Tesco application there. | :16:49. | :16:54.
I'm in the same position as Mary Portas, or opinion, that shops | :16:54. | :17:00.
should be in towns and when you take them out tf the towns, you | :17:00. | :17:06.
damage the town centre. Many fear that Tesco is too dominant but | :17:06. | :17:15.
people, some of them want a large supermarket. | :17:15. | :17:21.
Tying the knot abroad. The couple travelling thousands of miles away | :17:21. | :17:30.
to get married in their African village. I enjoyed all the girls | :17:30. | :17:37.
from Sheffield United last night, - - all the goals. Very well taken? | :17:37. | :17:41.
certain balance. A lot of Blades fans will be filled with confidence. | :17:41. | :17:46.
The Blades in their case last night beat Yeovil by 4-0. The question is, | :17:46. | :17:50.
how long will their tenure in that second spot last? These days, at | :17:50. | :17:55.
the top of that league, the answer always seems to be, for the time | :17:55. | :17:58.
being. Four goals scored, none conceded | :17:58. | :18:03.
and plenty of other reasons to be cheerful for Sheffield United. | :18:03. | :18:07.
Hardly threatened all night at Bramall Lane, the Blades cut loose | :18:07. | :18:12.
at the other end with two goals in each half. First, from Richard | :18:12. | :18:16.
Cresswell, and then an even sweeter strike from Michael Doyle, a fine | :18:16. | :18:19.
way to notch his first ever Blades goal. | :18:19. | :18:27.
2-0 United led at half time. The second half was the Lee Williamson | :18:27. | :18:32.
show. Two aggressive finishes from him made for a 4-0 victory. United | :18:32. | :18:36.
take the second automatic promotion place again... For the time being. | :18:36. | :18:40.
That, you suspect, is how it will be for the rest of the season. | :18:40. | :18:43.
Every time any of Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday or Huddersfield | :18:43. | :18:48.
Town play, it will be a chance to change the picture at the top of | :18:48. | :18:52.
League One and thumb your nose at the neighbours. Or maybe the secret | :18:52. | :18:55.
is for the Yorkshire contingent to gang up together on leaders | :18:55. | :19:00.
Charlton. That way, we could be seeing all three climb out of | :19:00. | :19:03.
League One at last. Great? Somehow I can't see | :19:03. | :19:05.
Sheffield Wednesday and United and Huddersfield Town joining forces | :19:05. | :19:11.
but it's a nice idea. They might stay there and two automatic spots? | :19:11. | :19:15.
Exactly, but the unthinkable thing is, if Charlton are going to take | :19:15. | :19:19.
one of the automatic spots, one of Wednesday United or Huddersfield | :19:19. | :19:23.
will not be promoted. It's unthinkable. I can't believe we are | :19:23. | :19:26.
talking about this. Let's move on with boxing instead. | :19:26. | :19:29.
Kell Brook is set to realise a childhood dream later this year | :19:29. | :19:33.
when he headlines a boxing show at the Sheffield Arena. He'll talk | :19:33. | :19:36.
take on the former European champion Matthew Hatton in what | :19:36. | :19:42.
will be a high profile war of the roses battle taking place on March | :19:42. | :19:48.
17th. This report contains some flash photography. | :19:48. | :19:53.
The two top ranked Britons came head-to-head today to announce the | :19:53. | :20:00.
biggest domestic fight of the year. Billed as a war of the roses, it | :20:00. | :20:04.
will decide who will come out on top in the Battle of Style, grit | :20:04. | :20:09.
and determination and confirm who really is Britain's number one | :20:09. | :20:15.
welterweight. They are going to bring the best out in me. It's a | :20:15. | :20:22.
tough fight. Health and Safety never been stopped. Matthew | :20:22. | :20:26.
Hatton's fought in Sheffield fuef times already during his career -- | :20:26. | :20:30.
five times in his career and is not phased by the prospect of facing | :20:30. | :20:35.
Kell in what will be Hatton's 50th professional fight. I boxed on the | :20:35. | :20:41.
bill when Ricky defended his title so I've boxed here before. This is | :20:41. | :20:45.
two of the best welterweights fighting, so there's a massive | :20:45. | :20:48.
incentive there and local pride at stake. Kell's team are confident a | :20:48. | :20:53.
win in March will force the world's champions, and more importantly, | :20:53. | :20:58.
the boxing authorities, to accept Brook is deserving of a world title | :20:58. | :21:05.
shot. This afternoon, it felt as if every | :21:05. | :21:10.
single Rugby Union fan in the country had their eyes fixed on | :21:10. | :21:14.
Yorkshire and West Park Leeds's clubhouse. Why? Because that is | :21:14. | :21:17.
where Stuart Lancaster, the man in charge of England for the time | :21:17. | :21:20.
being, was announcing the squad for the Six Nations tournament. He's | :21:20. | :21:23.
made 15 changes in all and our papers will be full of it in the | :21:23. | :21:26.
morning, judging by the number of press who were there. But the | :21:26. | :21:31.
question is, why has Stuart, who we know as the ex-Leeds Tykes coach, | :21:31. | :21:34.
decided on an England training camp here in Yorkshire? | :21:34. | :21:38.
I want to put my own stamp on things. It was a northern thing I | :21:38. | :21:42.
wanted to do, there is an element of humbleness. People are grounded | :21:42. | :21:46.
in the north aren't they, roll their sleeves up and get on with it. | :21:46. | :21:49.
That was the message from the World Cup. I felt that we'd gotten off | :21:49. | :21:55.
track a bit in terms of values. So up north was important. I wanted to | :21:55. | :21:58.
find a place with good facilities and accommodation. A whole variety | :21:58. | :22:02.
of reasons. When I scoured the north and asked around with the | :22:02. | :22:06.
coaches, they came back to us with Leeds which ironically is down the | :22:06. | :22:09.
road. Short commute for him then but he's | :22:09. | :22:17.
very proud to be able the use the facilities he knows very well. | :22:17. | :22:21.
might stay England coach if he has a good tournament. Tying the knot | :22:21. | :22:25.
is never easy and planning your wedding can be stressful. It's so | :22:25. | :22:28.
long since mine, I can hardly remember. Imagine who what it must | :22:28. | :22:31.
be like trying to organise your big day when you are getting hitched | :22:31. | :22:36.
thousands of miles away in a conditionian town. That's what two | :22:36. | :22:42.
charity workers from pont frat wanted to do. David Hoggart and | :22:43. | :22:52.
:22:53. | :22:53. | ||
Sharon Kerr set off tomorrow. -- Pontefract. | :22:53. | :22:57.
Meet David and Sharon, all set for their wedding in Kenya next week. | :22:57. | :23:03.
It's been a long nine years... yeah... And these are some of the | :23:03. | :23:06.
faces who'll be with them as guests on their big day. They're children | :23:07. | :23:13.
at the school David and Sharon's charity shop pays for. We went out | :23:13. | :23:16.
for a holiday but got more involved and now it's our life to help the | :23:16. | :23:20.
churn and the people out there. These are all the bridesmaid | :23:20. | :23:23.
dresses which we are talking. Because all the children are going | :23:23. | :23:27.
to take part in the wedding? They are, yes, they'll think it's | :23:27. | :23:30.
fantastic, the boys, girls and they'll think it's brilliant. This | :23:31. | :23:35.
time next week, it will be full on because this will be us wedding day, | :23:35. | :23:38.
next Wednesday. Planning their wedding has been at the back of | :23:38. | :23:42.
their minds after they were targeted by vandals a few weeks ago. | :23:42. | :23:46.
Our van, the Wednesday before Christmas, got set on fire. That's | :23:46. | :23:51.
what we use for pick-ups and deliveries. It just... Killed us a | :23:51. | :23:54.
little bit. Without a van, we are stuck now. | :23:54. | :23:58.
Not to be beaten, David and Sharon are determined to have a good time | :23:58. | :24:02.
and enjoy the wedding they've always dreamt of. They were | :24:02. | :24:06.
organising it over there for us. We hadn't heard from them and we heard | :24:06. | :24:10.
yesterday that everything's been organised and I hope it goes right, | :24:10. | :24:16.
which it should do. You look like you are filling up? Every time I | :24:16. | :24:20.
talk about Kenya I fill up. Everything they take out with them | :24:20. | :24:23.
to Kenya goes in this red bag and there's always great excitement | :24:23. | :24:27.
when it arrives. One thing David will not get to see until next week. | :24:27. | :24:32.
I want to see the dress? It's at the bridal shop in Wakefield. | :24:32. | :24:36.
are the only one who has seen it so far? With my mum and sister. With | :24:36. | :24:40.
them not being there on the special day, they wanted to see me and my | :24:40. | :24:45.
dad hasn't seen it yet but my mum's took a picture to show him on the | :24:45. | :24:49.
day. The happy couple have promised to take some pictures for us too so | :24:49. | :24:53.
we can all see how they got on in a few weeks' time. | :24:53. | :24:58.
We wish them well. A really lovely, lovely story. I gather that you | :24:58. | :25:01.
have been inundated with spring have been inundated with spring | :25:01. | :25:03.
flowers? Yes and complaints about you | :25:03. | :25:08.
mocking that daffodil in Wakefield. The host of golden daffodil. | :25:08. | :25:12.
one daffodil! We have had loads more. Four actually. I'll she you | :25:12. | :25:19.
three of them. This is from Anne. She says look at these. That's | :25:19. | :25:29.
:25:29. | :25:30. | ||
early. Ray has sent this picture in and Sonia says check these out in | :25:30. | :25:35.
Skipton. More than one. Send more pictures, please do, to | :25:35. | :25:44.
me: A big change coming weather- wise to the weather I like, cold, | :25:44. | :25:48.
crisp and dry for Friday and the weekend. Before that happens, we've | :25:48. | :25:53.
got an active weather front that will bring gales or severe gales | :25:53. | :26:02.
late Ayrtonite, mean ago short spell of winds, 50-60mph gusts. | :26:02. | :26:07.
As for tomorrow, patchy rain, but it will turn increasingly sunny | :26:07. | :26:11.
through Thursday afternoon. A sign of things to come for Friday and | :26:11. | :26:16.
the weekend. Much colder and frosty but dry with sunshine. The change | :26:16. | :26:21.
coming along behind this cold front. There's the satellite picture, we | :26:21. | :26:26.
have had 12 at Church Fenton this afternoon. There is a lot of cloud | :26:26. | :26:30.
around right now and it's been thick enough all day really across | :26:30. | :26:34.
the tochs to produce drizzle. -- tops. There will be more of that | :26:34. | :26:38.
and tonight, patchy outbreaks of rain pushing further eastwards, but | :26:38. | :26:48.
:26:48. | :26:59. | ||
at least it's frost free. Very Very windy first thing with patchy | :26:59. | :27:04.
outbreaks of rain. A wet and windy commute over the Pennines. The | :27:04. | :27:08.
skies brighten through the morning and the afternoon is considerably | :27:08. | :27:12.
less windy and sunny as well. Lovely on Thursday afternoon as the | :27:12. | :27:15.
winds continue to ease. Top temperatures now: They'll peak | :27:15. | :27:21.
through the morning, levelling off at around 10 or 11 before dropping | :27:21. | :27:26.
through Thursday afternoon. So 11 is 52, a frost on Thursday night, | :27:26. | :27:31. |
