Good evening and welcome to Friday's Look North. On the

:00:05.:00:09.

programme tonight... A Yorkshire MP calls on her own

:00:09.:00:12.

government to do more for the hundreds of homeowners facing a

:00:12.:00:17.

constant battle with flooded. -- flooding. Every year gets worse and

:00:17.:00:20.

they do not do anything and it is about time something was done.

:00:20.:00:23.

We are live in Malton where they are still pumping out after the

:00:23.:00:26.

recent rains. Also tonight, a new era for West

:00:26.:00:29.

Yorkshire Police. The new Chief Constable promises to get tough on

:00:29.:00:35.

burglaries and anti-social behaviour.

:00:35.:00:39.

UN Super League 18 kicks off with the reigning champions Leeds Rhinos

:00:39.:00:43.

are taking on Hull FC. Winter showers possible tonight,

:00:43.:00:48.

especially towards the coast, but what is the weekend looking at --

:00:48.:00:58.
:00:58.:01:00.

looking like? Join me for your Good evening. A North Yorkshire MP

:01:00.:01:03.

has criticised the Government for doing too little to protect homes

:01:03.:01:07.

and businesses from flooding. Anne McIntosh, the chair of the

:01:07.:01:11.

Environment Select Committee, is also the MP for Malton. Some homes

:01:11.:01:15.

there have been flooded six times in the past two months. We will

:01:15.:01:20.

hear from her in a moment. But first, Danni Hewson reports from

:01:20.:01:23.

West and North Yorkshire on the impact that flooding has had on

:01:23.:01:27.

people's lives. The palms are still out along this

:01:28.:01:32.

river. People no more rain will probably bring more flats, more

:01:32.:01:37.

heartache and people once -- people want action. It gets worse every

:01:37.:01:42.

year and nothing is done. It just needs more money spent on it.

:01:42.:01:47.

a constant problem. We need constant pressure on them to do

:01:47.:01:52.

something. The local MP, scrutinising draft legislation,

:01:52.:01:57.

agrees not enough has been done to deal with this all-too-familiar

:01:57.:02:01.

problem. The Floods Minister says that is wrong. We have implemented

:02:01.:02:06.

a massive change in how we deal with flooding. I do not accept that

:02:06.:02:12.

criticism from the committee. They are wrong. But it has been tough to

:02:12.:02:17.

recover from the summer's deluge in the Calder Valley. It was difficult.

:02:17.:02:22.

Those people who could not claim on their insurance, because there were

:02:22.:02:27.

not affected physically, because of a lack of food fault. But we get it

:02:27.:02:31.

through together. It is a good town, the businesses work together.

:02:31.:02:38.

local tourism body stepped in with a new avenue of assistants. Being

:02:38.:02:41.

on the route of the Tour de France should bring in new customers and

:02:41.:02:45.

workshops to help businesses Cashin are happening all month. You have

:02:45.:02:50.

to make sure you said you stage every day, like the Tour de France

:02:50.:02:54.

will, to open your doors and look at every opportunity to build a

:02:54.:02:59.

relationship for the future. But if it becomes waterlogged, many of the

:02:59.:03:05.

businesses will not survive the next 18 months without help.

:03:05.:03:09.

Anything to do with flooding has a massive impact on the region's

:03:10.:03:14.

economy. There is pressure to find quick answers to the questions

:03:14.:03:20.

associated with that. Let us speak to Anne McIntosh, the

:03:20.:03:25.

MP for Malton and Thirsk and the chair of the Environment Select

:03:25.:03:30.

Committee. Thank you for joining us. What has been your reviewer is the

:03:30.:03:37.

biggest issue? -- What is the biggest issue? It is the committee,

:03:37.:03:42.

convinced that since 2007 we are facing the threat of more surface

:03:42.:03:46.

water flooding. It is getting drains and order, making sure we

:03:46.:03:50.

know that when new developments are built there are sustainable drains

:03:50.:03:55.

in place to ensure we do not have a situation where sewage and surface

:03:55.:04:00.

water come into people's homes. That is precisely what we have seen

:04:00.:04:05.

in the last two months. I accept you are a member of that committee,

:04:06.:04:10.

but you are speaking for them. It is your party in Government and you

:04:10.:04:17.

are the MP foreign area badly hit. How can you make things happen now?

:04:17.:04:21.

We are saying to the Government, asking why they have not introduced

:04:21.:04:26.

drains regulations, which were due in 2012. We are asking which part

:04:26.:04:31.

of those regulations are so complicated, to help us understand

:04:31.:04:36.

why they are not in place and also looking at things -- looking at

:04:36.:04:40.

affordable insurance for all. And giving the regulator our primary

:04:40.:04:46.

duty, primary status of sustainable development. We are also looking at

:04:46.:04:51.

reservoir guidance. So in times of water stress or flooding that we

:04:51.:04:55.

can store the water to prevent it flooding into people's properties.

:04:55.:05:00.

I am sure everyone would agree those sour grapes, but many

:05:00.:05:04.

proposals made five years ago, -- that those proposals sound very

:05:04.:05:09.

good, but many made five years ago to stop people are cynical.

:05:09.:05:14.

committee is cynical. Successive governments have not been

:05:14.:05:22.

successful. They were part of the 2007 recommendations, following

:05:22.:05:27.

2007 flooding. They are very basic things that could be done. Parts of

:05:27.:05:31.

the report are welcomed, such as opening up business to retail

:05:31.:05:35.

competition. We think that will help. There is a lot more the

:05:35.:05:40.

Government can do without passing more legislation. Let us put into

:05:40.:05:45.

affect what Parliament has passed. Anne McIntosh, thank you very much.

:05:46.:05:49.

We will have more on the story on Sunday Politics. We will be

:05:49.:05:52.

discussing the problems of getting home insurance if your house has

:05:52.:05:57.

been flooded. That is the Sunday Politics with Andrew Neil and Tim

:05:57.:06:02.

Iredale, 11 o'clock on BBC One. West Yorkshire Police has appointed

:06:02.:06:06.

a new chief constable today. Mark Gilmour, who is 47, is currently

:06:06.:06:11.

serving as a deputy chief constable at Northumbria Police. He said his

:06:11.:06:14.

priorities in his new role included cutting burglary rates and cracking

:06:14.:06:19.

down on anti-social behaviour. The post became vacant after Sir

:06:19.:06:21.

Norman Bettison stood down over allegations that he was involved in

:06:21.:06:25.

a cover up after the Hillsborough disaster. So what challenges will

:06:25.:06:32.

he face? Crime Correspondent John Cundy reports.

:06:32.:06:36.

Mark Gilmore's policing Group Sarin a troubled streets of Northern

:06:36.:06:44.

Ireland. We are serious about how we can respond to this. -- policing

:06:44.:06:48.

routes are from the troubled streets. We will deal Hustler with

:06:48.:06:55.

people breaking the law. She is their ideal candidate for West

:06:55.:07:00.

Yorkshire Chief, according to the man who appointed him. He is the

:07:00.:07:03.

deputy chief constable in Northumbria, also experience the

:07:03.:07:09.

Northern Ireland, and West Yorkshire. So policing in urban

:07:09.:07:13.

environments with challenges. cannot be a much more difficult

:07:13.:07:18.

time to become a chief constable, sandwiched between massive spending

:07:18.:07:24.

cuts and the need to reduce manpower. The force faces overall

:07:24.:07:30.

savings of 87 million to be made in 20% cuts. A government budget

:07:30.:07:35.

cuts of 5 million this year alone. Humanity grants slashed by 25%.

:07:35.:07:41.

Orderlies coming down, but still above the national average. --

:07:41.:07:47.

community grants. Burglaries coming down. Germany teased want crime to

:07:48.:07:53.

come down. -- communities want crime to come down. A lot of the

:07:53.:07:57.

problems seem to us -- seems to stem from drug crimes. A street

:07:57.:08:05.

violence. A police presence on the streets. You have Ganz kicking your

:08:05.:08:10.

car's doors, going into your taxi office and you feel lonely and

:08:10.:08:15.

helpless. Those concerns of a taxi driver about racial attacks were

:08:15.:08:19.

put to the new chief constable. want you to know that all officers

:08:19.:08:25.

will listen to those concerns and engagement is key. I will be a

:08:25.:08:28.

listening Chief Constable and I am very conscious of the fact that

:08:28.:08:33.

have been high burglary rates and concern about anti-social behaviour.

:08:33.:08:37.

Those concerns and many more to be taken up by Mark Gilmore when he

:08:37.:08:41.

officially becomes chief constable in two months' time.

:08:42.:08:45.

Later on Look North, trading up? The Sheffield market stall holders

:08:45.:08:55.
:08:55.:08:56.

who say new premises will leave In the '80s, it was known as the

:08:56.:09:00.

Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire. But a study looking at

:09:00.:09:03.

inequality in Sheffield has found stark differences between the rich

:09:03.:09:06.

and poor. The independent Fairness Commission says Sheffield is one of

:09:06.:09:11.

the most unequal cities in the UK. And more needs to be done to make

:09:11.:09:19.

For example, take one bus route. The 83 from Ecclesfield to

:09:19.:09:24.

Millhouses. This route goes from some of the poorest areas in the

:09:24.:09:28.

country to one of the richest. And the lives of people living along it

:09:28.:09:36.

differ sharply. Life-expectancy for Ecclesfield is 78 for men. 81 for

:09:36.:09:42.

women. In Millhouses, it rises to 84 for men and 86 for women. House

:09:42.:09:46.

prices alter dramatically, too. The average house price in Southey, for

:09:46.:09:50.

example, is 56,000. Near the end of the route, it is over 300,000.

:09:50.:09:55.

So what needs to be done to make the city fairer? Tom Ingall got on

:09:55.:10:04.

Ten o'clock on Friday morning. The number 83 is starting a 70-minute

:10:04.:10:07.

journey from Ecclesfield to Millhouses. This isn't the Bishop

:10:07.:10:11.

of Sheffield's normal commute. But as a member of the city's Fairness

:10:11.:10:14.

Commission, it is one way he can see for himself the differences

:10:14.:10:19.

across districts. One of the things that surprised me was the link

:10:19.:10:23.

between the air quality and health and what a difference that makes

:10:23.:10:27.

across the city and, in particular, how much the motorway affects

:10:27.:10:31.

people's health on the East side of the city. And the connection

:10:31.:10:35.

between road traffic accidents and children and young people and the

:10:35.:10:42.

link with poverty and how many more there are in broad areas. -- poor

:10:42.:10:45.

areas. Cutting speed limits is just one recommendation from the

:10:45.:10:48.

commission. The others include getting employers to sign up to the

:10:48.:10:51.

living wage and making it cheaper for young people to use public

:10:51.:10:54.

transport. As the bus heads through Southey Green and Shirecliffe, it

:10:54.:10:59.

starts to fill up. This end of Sheffield, they do not seem to

:10:59.:11:04.

bother with us, the city council. People should be getting out more.

:11:04.:11:08.

The 83 heads past the town hall doors. The council have 1 millions

:11:08.:11:11.

from a previous budget underspend to back the commission's words with

:11:11.:11:17.

actions. If you have money to spend, couldn't you spend it on immediate

:11:17.:11:21.

budget priorities like the Leger centres that might close instead of

:11:21.:11:26.

chasing future aspirations about fairness? It is important we

:11:26.:11:32.

address inequalities. Those have been around in Sheffield for

:11:32.:11:37.

probably 10-15 years, if not longer. We should look at long-term rather

:11:37.:11:41.

than short term. Back on board, the bus heads out of the city up

:11:41.:11:46.

towards Millhouses. The problem is not to say we and a divided city. I

:11:46.:11:51.

am certain we are. But it is a case of I cannot see it being possible

:11:51.:11:55.

to change it. I do not think people can be trusted that the other end

:11:55.:12:00.

of town. I could be wrong, I do not know. At the terminus, the bus

:12:00.:12:04.

empties. And the driver prepares to thread back along the 83's diverse

:12:04.:12:08.

route. It will make the journey countless more times before every

:12:08.:12:13.

stop can be declared equal. Police searching for a missing

:12:13.:12:16.

woman from Helmsley are asking people who work in or visit

:12:16.:12:19.

churches to look out for her. 68- year-old Barbara Colling has

:12:19.:12:26.

Alzheimer's. She was last seen near the B1257 at Abbots Hag on Monday.

:12:26.:12:29.

Officers are asking people to be vigilant near churches, because she

:12:29.:12:32.

likes to visit them. A crane has fallen into the Leeds-

:12:32.:12:37.

Liverpool Canal at Apperley Bridge. It was during an attempt to remove

:12:37.:12:41.

and replace the gates at Dobson Locks this morning. An

:12:41.:12:43.

investigation is underway into why the towpath became unstable and

:12:43.:12:49.

collapsed. No one was hurt in the incident. The Canal and River Trust

:12:49.:12:54.

says the towpath will remain closed until the crane can be removed.

:12:54.:12:57.

Traders at a Sheffield market are claiming their rents could double

:12:57.:13:00.

under plans to move the city's historic Castle Market to a new

:13:00.:13:04.

location on The Moor. The current building, just off Park Square, is

:13:04.:13:08.

due to close in November. The new site will provide traders with

:13:09.:13:12.

state-of-the-art facilities. But will stallholders be taking up

:13:12.:13:22.
:13:22.:13:24.

their new pitches? A busy Friday for Karl Simonite on

:13:24.:13:28.

at Sheffield's Castle Market. His family has traded here for over

:13:28.:13:32.

half a century. The council says the ageing structure is no longer

:13:32.:13:37.

fit for purpose and wants to move stockholders to a brand new site

:13:37.:13:45.

across the city. But he claims moving there could double his rent.

:13:45.:13:49.

This is my life. It comes before my wife and children. It is a sad

:13:49.:13:54.

thing to say, but that is how I was brought up. My head says we cannot

:13:54.:13:59.

afford it. We have to be realistic and understand we have to pay for

:13:59.:14:04.

the new building, so rents have to go up. But go up at a reasonable

:14:04.:14:12.

rate. Not extortionate. Two weeks ago, Sheffield City Council sent

:14:12.:14:16.

out 108 application packs inviting stall holders to apply for pitches

:14:16.:14:22.

at the new site. Only six have replied. The council says the new

:14:22.:14:25.

markets will provide a much better environment for traders and

:14:25.:14:29.

shoppers. They are confident the majority of stall holders will

:14:29.:14:35.

apply. We put between 60-70 trainers through a Business

:14:35.:14:39.

Planning Course and the neck -- in the past fortnight. Most of those

:14:39.:14:43.

are positive about the new market. People do not like change. But

:14:43.:14:48.

there is a lot of positivity as well. There is concern the complex

:14:48.:14:53.

application process is causing some stall holders are necessary anxiety.

:14:53.:14:58.

I hope at the end of this, in 18 months' time, we will look at what

:14:58.:15:04.

a success that is. Traders have until the 22nd February to submit

:15:04.:15:07.

an application, but one not know if they have been successful Until

:15:07.:15:12.

April. Before seven o'clock, it's all

:15:12.:15:17.

about the timing! I haven't got it, but have you? We explore the art of

:15:17.:15:27.
:15:27.:15:28.

the stand-up comedian as we search You said that was the worst thing

:15:28.:15:36.

you ever did. It was awful. Maybe you can do just as well.

:15:36.:15:39.

Sport now. It is an exciting evening of action ahead with the

:15:39.:15:42.

start of the Super League season. Tanya is in Headingley. Leeds

:15:42.:15:45.

Rhinos are taking on Hull FC. But first, we are celebrating another

:15:45.:15:51.

Yorkshire world champion? We are indeed. Very exciting.

:15:51.:15:54.

Shelley Rudman has won skeleton gold at the World Championships in

:15:54.:15:57.

Switzerland. The Sheffield-based athlete went into the final run in

:15:57.:16:01.

the lead. She reached speeds of over 80 miles an hour. She

:16:01.:16:04.

maintained her advantage. Last year, Shelley won the season-long World

:16:04.:16:07.

Cup competition. Now she becomes the first ever British woman to win

:16:07.:16:13.

gold in the skeleton at the World Championships It managed to come at

:16:13.:16:21.

It managed to come at the right time. I was happy how things went

:16:21.:16:27.

and all the preparation, the last two years preparing for this event,

:16:27.:16:32.

so I am proud it has come together. Many congratulations indeed.

:16:32.:16:40.

So to Super League 18. Those that run the sport and work in it are

:16:40.:16:44.

billing it as the important season in the sport for many a year. That

:16:44.:16:47.

is because the World Cup comes to these shores in the autumn. But

:16:47.:16:53.

before that, the focus is on domestic issues. And can anyone

:16:53.:17:02.

wrestle the title off Leeds Rhinos? Let us hear from our five coaches.

:17:02.:17:06.

Five titles in six years tells its own story. The reigning champions

:17:06.:17:13.

are the side to beat. They want to make it easier from themselves.

:17:13.:17:17.

want to finish higher than third. At the same time, if we finish

:17:17.:17:21.

there or thereabouts, with the same outcome, I doubt anyone will

:17:21.:17:26.

complain. 2012 was all about survival of the pitch for Bradford,

:17:26.:17:30.

but they are aiming to keep the spirit found on it whilst dealing

:17:30.:17:35.

with adversity. Some people thought their careers had ended. We have to

:17:35.:17:41.

keep that same mental attitude of giving everything we have to

:17:41.:17:47.

achieve and that is what we are drawing upon. It is a new look at

:17:47.:17:50.

Castleford from the one that disappointed and 2012. They are

:17:50.:17:55.

mixing youth with experience. happy with the players. Some

:17:55.:18:01.

younger players, about 50% of the squad Under-21. We need some

:18:01.:18:06.

consistency. Make sure we are competitive for 80 minutes. Some

:18:06.:18:11.

fund could happen if we get that. Huddersfield started well, but

:18:11.:18:15.

trailed off badly in 2012, leading to coach Paul Anderson taking over

:18:15.:18:24.

earlier than planned. January 2012 and January 2013 are different

:18:24.:18:27.

animals. We have different people coming in, so we have addressed the

:18:27.:18:32.

issues. Wakefield were the surprise package of 2012, a great end-of-

:18:32.:18:37.

season run saw them make the play- offs. We have some players that can

:18:37.:18:42.

enhance the squad. Tweeted weather for the 12 months and doing it well

:18:42.:18:46.

and the second half of the season. Thus we played well for the past 12

:18:46.:18:54.

months. I am delighted to say I am joined

:18:54.:18:58.

by a player from a Huddersfield Giants. This is as huge year for

:18:58.:19:02.

the sport of Rugby League. Absolutely massive. And that starts

:19:02.:19:07.

tonight. It is all about building to the World Cup but the end of the

:19:07.:19:13.

year. It is really exciting. And if England can lift that title, what

:19:13.:19:17.

boost we did bring to the sport? would be massive, especially in

:19:17.:19:22.

England, because we are trying to promote the game, we believe it is

:19:22.:19:24.

the best in the world, and the one younger players going through

:19:24.:19:30.

junior ranks. And Leeds are the team to beat, proving every year

:19:30.:19:35.

they can live that title. It does not matter where they finish.

:19:35.:19:41.

seems to matter. They finished 5th, then when regardless. If anyone can

:19:41.:19:44.

take it off them, that would be a big success for the Rugby League.

:19:44.:19:50.

They are the team to beat, no doubt. Who do you think will be their big

:19:50.:19:55.

rivals, apart from yourselves? Obviously, our cells, but the usual

:19:55.:20:03.

suspects. Hull are good as well. They are the team that seems to be

:20:03.:20:08.

letting themselves down every year, but this should be about you.

:20:08.:20:11.

Paul Anderson in charge of Huddersfield Giants. How are things

:20:11.:20:17.

going? You tailed off badly last year. Thanks for reminding me. We

:20:17.:20:21.

started off very well, and a lot of upset through the camp. This year

:20:21.:20:26.

we had seen steadier. A lot more consistency. All the small things

:20:26.:20:31.

we are doing right. We are looking forward to getting out there now.

:20:31.:20:38.

Have a very good season. We want to see you in that World Cup. Now he

:20:38.:20:44.

will go to the committee box. Radio Leeds bringing the best coverage of

:20:44.:20:48.

the sport in this part of the world. The Super League Show is back on

:20:48.:20:55.

Monday night at 11:35pm. Thank you very much.

:20:55.:21:01.

These come around once a year, or once every couple of years. And the

:21:01.:21:08.

look really nice. It is Red Nose Day on 15th March this year. And we

:21:08.:21:11.

are looking for people who want to try their hand at being a stand-up

:21:11.:21:13.

comedian. We will be holding roadshows across Yorkshire where

:21:14.:21:18.

you can have a go. If you are picked, you will get to go on a

:21:18.:21:21.

comedy boot camp. Then perform in front of a paying audience. You

:21:21.:21:26.

might remember when I had a go for Comic Relief back in 2011.

:21:26.:21:31.

A lady goes into a pet shop and sees a gold Barrat. How much is

:21:31.:21:40.

that? 20 quid. But it has been in a house of ill-repute. They go to the

:21:40.:21:45.

home and a parrot says, a lovely room. Her daughters come in and he

:21:45.:21:51.

says, two lovely women. Then there that comes in and he says, how low,

:21:51.:21:56.

Keith. LAUGHTER.

:21:56.:21:59.

Someone who is much better than me is stand-up comedian and BBC Radio

:21:59.:22:03.

Sheffield presenter Toby Foster. It is not as easy as it looks, is it?

:22:03.:22:06.

At least I am not Keith. That looked great. Shock waves went

:22:06.:22:12.

through the industry when we heard you were taking up comedy. When he

:22:12.:22:18.

was speaking about that before we went on-air. He said, if I have

:22:18.:22:27.

some props, they will remind me of my jokes. He walked on, with head -

:22:27.:22:34.

- with his golf bag, then forgot to mention them.

:22:34.:22:38.

People thought I was a prat. What are people letting themselves and

:22:38.:22:43.

for? We will get people in a boot camp, teach them the basics stuff,

:22:43.:22:49.

holding the microphone, looking the right way, then the kind of mind

:22:50.:22:53.

you shy of stand-up comedians. People from your, from Leeds,

:22:53.:23:00.

Sheffield. -- then the business of stand-up comedians. Why would

:23:00.:23:04.

anyone, yourself included, want to go out there and watch people not

:23:04.:23:11.

laughing? I try not to make that happen. But there is always that

:23:11.:23:15.

fee year. You could have a bad audience or you don't work. There

:23:15.:23:21.

is that, but once you get the Knightswood it does work, it is the

:23:21.:23:26.

only job you want to do. -- once you get the nights where it does

:23:26.:23:33.

work. Have you ever died on here, so to speak? I am never going back

:23:33.:23:41.

to us Portsmouth. -- never going back to Portsmouth. I was sharing a

:23:41.:23:46.

hotel with one other comedian. I died and desperate death. He ripped

:23:46.:23:52.

the roof of the place. And I had to share the place with them. I felt

:23:52.:23:57.

like killing him. I suppose you learnt from it never to go to

:23:57.:24:03.

Portsmouth. And never to share with them again. Can anyone stand up

:24:03.:24:09.

with training and be funny? There has to be something there,

:24:09.:24:14.

there has to be a spark. You can help people and give pointers. A

:24:14.:24:21.

lot of people have that. We did not know Harry could be so hilarious

:24:21.:24:26.

before we saw that golf club routine. Thank you.

:24:26.:24:33.

He did not mean to do that. If you fancy having a go at being a

:24:33.:24:37.

stand-up comedian, you can go along and try out at a comedy roadshow.

:24:37.:24:40.

They are taking place right across Yorkshire later this month. They

:24:40.:24:43.

are in Scarborough, York, Leeds, Bradford and Sheffield. For more

:24:43.:24:48.

information, go to bbc.co.uk/rednoseday.

:24:48.:24:53.

Toby, thank you very much. The build up to the capital one cap

:24:53.:25:00.

final at Wembley is well underway. And you sign appeared in the centre.

:25:00.:25:07.

-- Capital One Cup. The new sign, which you can find near the city

:25:08.:25:10.

hall, points excited fans in the direction of the National Stadium.

:25:10.:25:17.

Bradford will face Swansea. We will follow them at every step of the

:25:17.:25:27.
:25:27.:25:27.

And before the weather, take a look at this. This was yours. I had a

:25:27.:25:33.

panic attack, because you have to buy people a drink if you get a

:25:33.:25:39.

hole-in-one. I did not know whether to laugh or cry. I am proud of that.

:25:39.:25:48.

I am glad you showed it. Thank you for bringing that in. Any time.

:25:48.:25:57.

This next picture is very nice. And the forecast, with the headline for

:25:57.:26:01.

many parts being a good one. The Pennines having a fantastic day

:26:01.:26:06.

tomorrow, cold and sunny, with wintry showers towards the coast at

:26:06.:26:11.

first. A weather front will bring some rain. A little rain on Sunday

:26:11.:26:17.

morning. Sunday afternoon should be brighter with sunny intervals. We

:26:17.:26:24.

are looking at showers tonight. Some pushing through Derbyshire at

:26:24.:26:28.

the moment. More coming down the East Coast. These will turn

:26:28.:26:33.

increasingly wintry and become confined to eastern areas, where

:26:33.:26:37.

there could be a covering of snow. It does not look too serious.

:26:37.:26:44.

Further west, dry with ice on untreated surfaces. The sun will

:26:44.:26:50.

rise in the morning at seven corn mac 52. Those are the high what it

:26:51.:26:58.

sounds. -- 7:52. A cold wind. Towards the coast, wintry showers

:26:58.:27:03.

at first. Those moving away by lunchtime and eastern areas

:27:03.:27:10.

becoming dry and sunny. A cold northerly wind. Inland, the

:27:10.:27:16.

sunshine more make-up for lower temperatures. Frost on Saturday

:27:16.:27:22.

night. Sunday morning, cloudy with patchy rain, a little snow. Sunday

:27:22.:27:29.

afternoon looks better. Next week looks cold, unsettled and wintry.
