Clare's legacy. The father from Yorkshire viewers do `` from | :00:11. | :00:17.
Yorkshire whose daughter was murdered changes the law. This is | :00:18. | :00:22.
not a panacea, we have never said that it will stop domestic violence | :00:23. | :00:27.
but what it does do is gives women and men in that situation a | :00:28. | :00:30.
reasonable chance. We'll investigate whether Clare's Law will work. | :00:31. | :00:33.
Also tonight, out with the old and in with the new as Sheffield's new | :00:34. | :00:42.
market finally opens its doors. And look what we've found at the back of | :00:43. | :00:45.
this humble wardrobe in the heart of Leeds. | :00:46. | :00:49.
And can Dave Jones keep his job at Sheffield Wednesday? | :00:50. | :00:54.
A lovely autumnal scene at Ripley Castle in North Yorkshire but what | :00:55. | :00:58.
is this week looking like? Join me for the forecast coming up shortly. | :00:59. | :01:10.
May I say, Amy, welcome to the Look North family. | :01:11. | :01:15.
Our main story tonight. The father of a West Yorkshire woman who was | :01:16. | :01:19.
murdered by a man with a history of violence has today seen a campaign | :01:20. | :01:23.
he started be rolled out across England and Wales. Michael Brown, | :01:24. | :01:28.
who's from Batley, campaigned for a change in the law to protect women | :01:29. | :01:31.
after his daughter Clare was killed by her ex`boyfriend. A pilot scheme | :01:32. | :01:35.
has been running in four areas but now Clare's Law will be implemented | :01:36. | :01:38.
nationwide. Shamir Masri caught up with her father earlier today. | :01:39. | :01:47.
Today marks a significant step forward for the father whose | :01:48. | :01:51.
daughter was killed by her abusive ex partner. Since her death, Michael | :01:52. | :01:55.
Brown has campaigned for a change in the law. In 2009, Clare Wood was | :01:56. | :02:01.
murdered by her ex`boyfriend. The mother from West Yorkshire had no | :02:02. | :02:05.
idea he had a history of violent attacks against women. Clare's | :02:06. | :02:13.
father argued that data protection should not protect abusive fathers | :02:14. | :02:17.
and introduced Clare's Law weaving people the right to check their | :02:18. | :02:20.
partners for any records of domestic abuse. Now, Clare's Law will be | :02:21. | :02:27.
lamented in March next year. Clare's Law is not a panacea, we have never | :02:28. | :02:32.
advocated that it. Domestic violence. But what it does do is it | :02:33. | :02:36.
his women and men in that situation a reason much as `` we have never | :02:37. | :02:41.
advocated that it will stop domestic violence. It gives people advice on | :02:42. | :02:47.
what they should do in the future, go or stables. People have spoken | :02:48. | :02:51.
out in favour of the changes. Figures released I West Yorkshire | :02:52. | :02:55.
Police say one in four women will suffer domestic abuse in their | :02:56. | :03:06.
lifetime will `` in their lifetime. Charities say more still needs to be | :03:07. | :03:13.
done. We have concerns that no record is not the same as no risk. | :03:14. | :03:17.
And of course there are people out there who do not have anything on | :03:18. | :03:22.
record nonetheless, what the person is experiencing in the relationship | :03:23. | :03:26.
could be abusive but they are not getting those warning signs | :03:27. | :03:30.
confirmed by this check. It is hoped Clare's Law will help prevent | :03:31. | :03:33.
innocent people becoming be the Thames of their abusive partners `` | :03:34. | :03:42.
becoming victims. That's tonight, a multi`million | :03:43. | :03:44.
pound market has opened in Sheffield today. The development on the Moor | :03:45. | :03:49.
replaces the run`down Castle Market which shut for the last time on | :03:50. | :03:52.
Saturday. Tom Ingall is in Sheffield for us now. What an incredible day | :03:53. | :03:58.
in Sheffield. This is a development the city has | :03:59. | :04:01.
been aching for for the past two decades. The shutters have come down | :04:02. | :04:04.
after a spectacular first they's trading. 25,000 people came through | :04:05. | :04:11.
the doors today. That is 5000 more than on the busiest ever day at | :04:12. | :04:15.
Castle markets about half a mile away which this building replaces. | :04:16. | :04:18.
Would you like a look around? Of course you would. | :04:19. | :04:23.
Home`cooked produce waiting for you today. It has been heard for should | :04:24. | :04:34.
deliberate centres but never from here. They were kisses to the past | :04:35. | :04:40.
this morning but first shoppers were ready to move with the times. It is | :04:41. | :04:45.
amazing. Deduce shop at Castle markets? Two yes, my parents have | :04:46. | :04:50.
and we are carrying on the tradition. A lot better than the old | :04:51. | :04:56.
market. It was down at heel. A lot better than what the old one worth. | :04:57. | :05:05.
Very good. Very good. A good mix of doors? We are checking for African | :05:06. | :05:12.
stalls. It was 1996 when Sheffield first decided it would build a new | :05:13. | :05:21.
market but it was not and `` until the middle of the 2000 when they | :05:22. | :05:25.
started building. This encompasses 73,000 square feet at the cost of | :05:26. | :05:30.
?18 million. Can I have a Saturday job? Michael Burke is one who has | :05:31. | :05:37.
moved to the new site. A big increase in rents and so that was my | :05:38. | :05:44.
decision, we had to make money. But looking at the place and with the | :05:45. | :05:49.
feel now, we feel it will be good. but every trader has transferred, | :05:50. | :05:53.
some have taken the decision to close rather than paying new rent | :05:54. | :05:59.
charges. We were particular about which particular stalls and trades | :06:00. | :06:04.
we wanted in the market, to make it successful. We know that we have | :06:05. | :06:07.
still got a waiting list and we are working through their business | :06:08. | :06:10.
plans. So I am sure that in several weeks time, it will be completely | :06:11. | :06:15. |
