Issed Welcome to Sunday's Look North: `` hello and welcome. There

are claims that Yorkshire's food banks are being deprived of millions

of pounds worth of European money. Some MEPs have criticised the

Government for not tapping hn to an EU fund, which could help to feed

many of the poorest people hn our part of the world. Len Tingle has

Leeds hasn't been running vdry long but the families just keep on

coming. We give food that whll last you about three days. Three miles

down the road this. Food bank has just opened. Run by voluntedrs, it,

too, has found many hungry families and now needs a astonishing amount

of supplies. I am aware I nded to be collecting at least three tonnes of

food every month. My plans `re to engage the local supermarkets,

businesses and churches into giving us a regular supply of food. This

isn't just happening here. @cross Europe, voluntary organisathons like

this have sprung up to provhde some sort of food safety net for the

victims of the economic downturn N Brussels this week, the European

Parliament agreed to set up a fund of around ?3 billion to help the

Food Aid Movement, but therd is a concern the UK Government isn't

taking full advantage. The British Government has applied for bds

million. France, the same shze, has applied for ?433 million. These are

the sort of figures we ought to get right. But the Government s`ys money

from what is known as the Solidarity Fund, comes with too many strings

attached By taking it from the so`called Solidarity Fund wd have to

meet all the criteria which may ultimately cost us more mondy as a

country than we can save. Even so, it is looking increasingly likely

that food banks in other European countries will receive aid, but

those in Yorkshire and the rest of the UK, won't.

Also this evening: A 51`year`old man from Doncaster has been charged with

the murder of his wife. The body of 49`year`old Sheila Wild was

discovered at a house in thd Blaxton area of Doncaster on Wednesday. A

postmortem examination found she'd been strangled. Her husband, Raymond

Wild, is due to appear at Doncaster Magistrates' Court tomorrow, charged

with her murder. Work will continue overnight to

repair gas mains in Bradford, after 150 homes and 70 businesses were

left without gas. A burst w`ter pipe caused damage to the gas pipe on

Canal Road, and the supply had to be turned off on Friday morning. Around

a quarter of the affected homes have now been reconnected. Enginders will

continue pumping water out of the gas pipe throughout the night.

A police officer whose work was instrumental in solving the murder

of Sheffield church organist Alan Greaves has won an award. Mr Greaves

was beaten to death as he w`lked to midnight mass on Christmas Dve in

2012. Two men have been jailed for the killing. Detective Constable

Simon Taylor, who is said to have played a vital role in identifying

one of the killers, was namdd Officer of the Year at the Sheffield

Bulls have played their first match since being deducted six pohnts for

going into administration. Ht's the second time it's happened in two

years. It prompted the club's proposed new owners to pull out of

the deal ` leaving their future uncertain once again. The Btlls took

on London Broncos this afternoon, and Dave Edwards was there. It was

meant to be a new dawn at the stadium. Instead, the skies are

darker than ever, for Bradddd Ford Bulls. Last week they were deducted

six Super League points. Thd penalty imposed to stop clubs using

admiration to drop off debt. That led the potential new owners to pull

out, saying they'd almost cdrtainly be relegated. Desperate. Re`lly

desperate. But whatever happens come thick or thin, we will still be

here, shouting our team on. Gutted. I love my club. I have been a

supporter for nearly 19 years. To see what is happening to it, it is

heartbreaking. Whoever wants to come in, please do, because, I'd love

someone to buy it who is dedicated to Bulls. As the cutbacks continue

the prop Nick was sold yestdrday. The coach says he and the Bradford

players are frustrated. Thex are up for the challenge and believe they

have a great chance of stayhng in Super League. So the Bulls have been

shown another red rag. But can they come back fighting? Today it's a

relief to put financial worries aside for 80 minutes at least, and
