into Good evening. First tonight, the

search is continuing in York for a missing 22`year`old man. Ben

Clarkson disappeared after a night out at the weekend. There are

concerns that he may have fallen into the River Foss. It comes just

two days after the body of the student, Megan Roberts, was found in

the River Ouse. Phil Connell has just sent us this report. Searches

of the Rovers here in York become all`too`familiar for the police. The

body of Megan Roberts was found just a short distance from here on

Sunday. Today, police divers have focused their attention on the River

Foss in York after growing concerns for the safety of Ben Clarkson.

Police say that his disappearance is completely out of character and say

that the search of the river is just one line of inquiry. I wish to

appeal to Ben Clarkson, if you see or hear of this appeal, contact Lisa

immediately. Your family and friends are very worried about your

welfare. In the meantime, anyone who saw Ben Clarkson after the time he

was last seen and has information about the whereabouts, could they

contact police immediately? There are growing calls for improved

safety along certain parts of the rivers in York with one campaign are

telling us this evening that plans have been put forward for boats to

patrol set `` certain sections of the revenues. Initially it is about

educating people who are socialising on a night out about the dangers of

the river. I think the council could look into more safety precautions

and the fact that we are setting up a York rescue boat to work in

partnership with police, CCTV and similar agencies in York, working

together to eliminate some of the tragedies that are happening at the

moment. This evening, police are looking through hours of CCTV

footage to try and shed light on the disappearance of Ben Clarkson, with

police divers back here tomorrow, to resume their search. Other news now.

A fifth person has been arrested following the death of a woman in

Sheffield. Officers were called to The Oval this afternoon, where the

body of a woman was found. Four men and a woman are being questioned on

suspicion of murder. Almost 350 former civil service jobs are to go

across Yorkshire, according to the Public and Commercial Services

Union. A private company took over the running of back room services

such as HR and payroll last November. It is now closing its

office at the Department for Work and Pensions in Sheffield and at the

Environment Agency in Leeds, as well as making redundancies at DEFRA in

York. Meanwhile, the Duke of York has been in Leeds today supporting a

scheme trying to help unemployed young people. He was backing a

campaign to encourage small businesses to create a thousand new

apprenticeships over the next year. He visited two college campuses in

the city before addressing business leaders. I see that young people

today, it is not as though they need direction but they need to

understand that they can aspire to be more than they actually think

they can. And so, therefore, the route to a skill and to employment

and to being part of the community is by learning a skill and the best

way to do that is by doing an apprenticeship. The veteran

politician Tony Benn has left hospital. Seen here with his son,

Hillary, the Leeds Central MP, who was admitted to hospital last month

after feeling unwell. The country's biggest free school is to be built

in Leeds as part of a plan to encourage families to move into the

city centre. Look North can exclusively reveal the new Ruth

Gorse Academy will be on the old Yorkshire Chemicals site, next to

the former Tetley's Brewery. Here's Spencer Stokes. First people on the

site. It's difficult to imagine it. Rural schools are good, urban ones

aren't so good. That's the traditional thinking. John Townsley,

who already runs two Leeds schools, wants to turn that idea on its head,

with his new city centre school. The academy will be outstanding. It will

be extactly the same in terms of quality as the others which are

outstanding. This is going to give parents and young people a totally

new choice in this city. An inner city high school hasn't been built

in Leeds for more than 100 years. This will be south of the river, a

few minute's walk from key landmarks. A primary school is

planned. The idea behind free schools is business people, teachers

and families can come together to create a new school where they think

there's a need. Interestingly, there is no need here yet, because there

are very few family homes. This is a bold move by theRuth Gorse academy

and by the Government. The hope is that putting a school here will

encourage developers to build family homes close to the city centre,

rather than more one and two`bedroom flats. The school is being promoted

by a local group who will tempt house rather than apartment

builders. What the school does is gives us the ability to talk to

developers and landowners. And indeed, already there are developers

asking about accessibility to this school. Families are established

among the young couples who are around us today. If they move out of

the city, but we don't want that. We want Leeds to be a living, kicking

breathing city centre with families right at its heart. This academy

will open in temporary accommodation at the other academies this year,

before moving to the new site in September 2016. With the aim of

shaking up city centre living and city centre learning.
