Good evening and welcome to Sunday's Look North.

A major re`organisation of the Anglican Church started today in

Yorkshire. As Easter Sunday services began across the county, a new

super`diocese for the west and north of the county was created. The

merger of three old areas has created the largest diocese in

England and the first for over 85 years. James Vincent went to one of

its first services today. Easter is of course all about new

life and new beginnings but for congregations across large parts of

the county, today was not only important for their faith, it marked

a new start for how it is organised. This is one of the first services at

Leeds Minster of the dioceses of West Yorkshire and the Dales. I

think it was the Archbishop of York who decided that Easter Day should

be the official day and it is always the day when the celebration is so

key to what we do. It seems very appropriate to begin this new

venture today. This is now the largest dioceses in England. Two

million people are served by over 650 Anglican churches in the whole

of England. They want people to come to services like this. I think it is

probably for administrative and financial reasons, which is

inevitable. We're contracting and getting more efficient I hope. I

think it is a good idea because it is embracing a larger area taking

more people into it. We're a big old county, let's keep it big! The

church says efficiency and not money is the main reason. It will save

money in some ways but that is not the driver. The real drive is to

make the church more effective. The creation of this super diocese means

it will have three cathedrals ` Bradford, Wakefield and Ripon. The

success of the reorganisation may depend on whether churchgoers notice

a difference or not. A 58`year`old woman has been

arrested after an alleged assault on a worker at a controversial gas

drilling site near Doncaster. Nottinghamshire Police were called

to a number of reports of criminal damage and threatening behaviour at

Daneshill near Bawtry. They're investigating claims that Dart

Energy's site manager was assaulted in the early hours of yesterday

morning. Dozens of Hillsborough campaigners

arrived at Anfield football ground in Liverpool this afternoon after

walking 96 miles from the Sheffield stadium. The event was to say thank

you to everyone who has supported them 25 years on from when 96

football fans died during the FA Cup semifinal. The trek started at

midnight on Friday and finished today.

Of course, it's Easter Sunday today and many of you will still be

munching on chocolate eggs. But for some children it wasn't just the

Easter Bunny making the deliveries but South Yorkshire's very own world

superbike champion James Toseland. Kierra Liew was at Sheffield

Children's Hospital. The egg run is in its 13th year and

keeps on growing. Today, two`time world Superbike champion James

Toseland was at the head of 1000 riders on a convoy three miles long

to get around Sheffield joined by some very special guests. The riders

were out in force to raise money for Sheffield Children's Hospital. There

are only so many hospitals that can treat children the way this one

does, so it is paramount. I'm from Sheffield originally. We're just

fortunate to have such a hospital on our own doorstep. James couldn't

help but play Easter Bunny, delivering eggs to children in the

ward. It is quite special when you're stuck in here and get upset

and uptight. I think it was a bit of a shock because we did not know he

was coming. This This year more than 800 eggs were donated and they are

still counting the money raised. With all funds going towards vital

equipment, the benefits are sure to last longer than the chocolate will.

Yorkshire have made a solid start to their County Championship game

against Northamptonshire at Headingley. An unbeaten century, so

far, for Gary Balance and 90 from Alex Lees has put them in control on

day one. A few moments ago they were 328 for seven.

Good evening. As we head through this evening overnight, the client

will generally increase from the south. We are looking at a few

outbreaks of rain and drizzle that will mainly affect southern and

western areas but it will be light and patchy. Turning quite misty and

breezy as well, so it will stay relatively mild, lows of eight or

nine Celsius. Easter Monday will start off cloudy, misty and damp in

places. As we get through the day it should brighten up. There is the

risk of showers in the afternoon though. Temperatures on the coast

will be coolest tomorrow, with temperatures as high as 17 Celsius

inland. From Tuesday onwards, it will be more unsettled. There will

be more cloud and showers. Temperatures still into double

figures though, showers becoming more persistent and heavy as we head

through Wednesday. Not too bad for tomorrow. Do join

Hello. Well, it was another lovely sunny day across the north of the

UK. What a difference over the south. The rain set in for the

course of the afternoon. There's more of that to come. It has been

getting heavy across southern England. A narrow band for London,

for the south Midlands, to south Wales and the south west. Lots of

water on the roads. Overnight it will move away out towards the west.

A few showers across northern England and into Northern Ireland

for a time. Otherwise it looks like staying largely dry. A mild night as

well. Nothing like as cold as last night. Just the far north perhaps

seeing temperatures dipping away under clearer skies. A cloudy start

for many of us tomorrow. The sun will break through every now and

then. Areas bordering the Irish Sea looking good as well. You will

notice showers developing further south. As we go into the afternoon,

a zone of heavy showers across the south Midlands and into Wales.
