Good evening from Look North. A man from North Wales has admitted

posting offensive messages on Twitter following the death of

school teacher Ann Maguire. She was stabbed to death exactly a week ago

at Corpus Christi Catholic College in Leeds. Another man from Leeds,

aged 21, has also been charged with the same offence. Michelle Lyons

reports. Robert Riley, aged 42, appeared at

Leeds Magistrates' Court this morning charged with sending

malicious communications about murdered schoolteacher Ann Maguire,

who was killed in her classroom at the Corpus Christi Catholic College

last week. The messages, posted on Twitter, were sent by Riley from his

hometown of Port Talbot in South Wales and were described by the

prosecution today as being grossly offensive and of an indecent nature,

although they weren't read out in court. Riley pleaded guilty to the

offence and apologised for his behaviour and any upset he may have

caused. He left court today with his head covered with his hoodie. He was

given bail and told to appear before Swansea Magistrates' Court on

Thursday. West Yorkshire Police say this is the second incident of

malicious communication that they've had to deal with since the death of

Ann Maguire last week. Meanwhile students at Corpus Christi

Catholic College will release balloons and lanterns into the sky

at 7:30pm tonight to mark a week since Ann Maguire died. The

61`year`old had taught at the school for more than 40 years, before being

attacked in a classroom last Monday. Ian White is at the school.

One week on from the death of Ann Maguire and these are the scenes

outside the Corpus Christi Catholic College today. Floral tributes still

arriving, people coming along to see what's been written, but this way, a

charity football match is under way, organised by many former pupils

here. Alex, you are a former pupil. Why was this so important? I think

because we were pushed out from Corpus when it all happened because

they wanted to keep it secure, so we felt we had to come together as a

community to support each other through this time. And it's 16 and

17`year`olds who have done this. Ex`pupils started a group on

Facebook but we didn't expect so much support from so many groups

like adults and people with children. I think it's amazing. You

must be pleased with the turnout. Mrs Maguire would be pleased,

wouldn't she? I think she would have loved it because everyone's getting

together and supporting one another through it and not dwelling on the

situation but supporting one another and smiling and enjoying themselves,

not forgetting, the main reason of this is to send off and celebrate

Mrs Maguire's life, but just everyone smiling is amazing. There

is a more buoyant mood this week from the sombre scenes we saw last

week. More going on here tonight. Yeah, there is this game and then

the girls' game and then we're setting off the balloons, so it

The Green party has become the latest to launch its campaign for

the European Elections in the Yorkshire region. The party's six

candidates addressed party supporters in a converted barn at an

urban farm visitor centre near Huddersfield. At the last elections

five years ago, the Greens narrowly missed out on taking a first seat in

the European Parliament for the Yorkshire and Humber region. The

Green Party is very strong in Yorkshire and Humber. It has

councillors in Leeds, Bradford, York, Sheffield, Scarborough,

Kirklees, where I'm a councillor. We've really built up the strength

of the local parties. We've got people campaigning in the streets.

We're a lot more visible than we have been in the past, so there's a

real opportunity. So a decisive weekend of football

has come to a close with our sides and their fans experiencing the

extremes. With the story of champions, a last`minute relegation

and a knockout punch in the play`offs, here's Ian Bucknell.

It's a long season and there are many ups and downs. Chesterfield

have had their share, refusing to do things the easy way, but on

Saturday, the very last day, they became League Two champions. There's

a lot of downtime in football, so you have to enjoy days like this.

I've enjoyed two promotions, one when I was chairman of Sheffield

Wednesday, and now here. It started a bit flat, but you couldn't have

picked a better ending. Gary Roberts has been the outstanding player in

the division. How fitting it was, then, that he scored the goal which

defeated Fleetwood and decided the title. But for every winner there is

a loser, Doncaster players distressed after their defeat at

Leicester and relegation from the championship. I feel for everyone in

the club, and the fans, the fans were magnificent. We got relegated

in the last minute today and the standing ovation they gave the

players was outstanding. FC Halifax Town fans travelled to Cambridge to

see their team take a shot at promotion to the Football League,

but their 1`0 lead from the first leg lasted barely ten minutes.

Hesitation in the defence, and Delano Sam`Yorke pounced. He scored

again before half`time and Halifax never found a way back. To see what

Cricket now, and Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale has made an impressive

return to the side. The skipper dropped himself from the team last

time out. But at Durham today, he hit a century as Yorkshire made 589

before declaring. At close of play, the hosts had reached 62`1.

The sunshine today for the bank holiday produced the highest

temperature of the long weekend in eastern England today, at 20

Celsius. But to the west, the cloud has been gathering. We have seen a

bit of rain in Northern Ireland and western Scotland, but the thicker

cloud now pushing into the south-west of England is delivering

more rain. It will become more extensive over the next few hours. A

ragged area of rainfall will move east as the night goes on. If you
