at Leeds Teaching Hospitals has The Care Quality Commission carried

out an inspection in March at hospitals including

Leeds General Infirmary and St James's and raised concerns

about a number of areas including Our health correspondent

Jamie Coulson reports. Around 70 inspectors from the

Care Quality Commission spent four days in March looking at all areas

of Leeds Teaching Hospitals. They found that services

in Wharfedale Hospital, Chapel Allerton Hospital and Seacroft

Hospital were good, but that the trust's two main sites, the Leeds

General Infirmary and St James's Among their concerns were staffing

shortages on elderly care, There are areas that the trust

absolutely must address in order to They are really around staffing

levels, staff training, particularly around safeguarding

and around sharing those lessons when maybe things have not gone

as well as they could have done. Inspectors acknowledged there were

areas of good practice including A and maternity services,

but found that overall safety needed The trust has been told to

make improvements in 15 areas. Leeds Teaching Hospitals say work to

address these issues is already well underway with 400 extra nurses due

to start from September and plans to deal with the problems
