Dan Roan, BBC News, Rio. Good evening.

:00:08.:00:08.

Here's our correspondent, Matt Slater.

:00:09.:00:29.

Everybody loves a winner whhch is exactly what Chris would like to

:00:30.:00:39.

remain in Yorkshire. Even whthout a few of the shows biggest st`rs.

:00:40.:00:46.

There are new songs to be stng and bells to be wrong. The cast list has

:00:47.:00:51.

plenty of style quality. Mark Cavendish! I am so confident it will

:00:52.:01:05.

be overshadowed in Yorkshird this weekend. The opening ceremony

:01:06.:01:11.

promised something a bit different, a stage to prove Yorkshire has got

:01:12.:01:17.

talent and can do things together, better and louder. The Tour de

:01:18.:01:28.

France was started in 2003. It is the first time ever there are so

:01:29.:01:33.

many people attending the tdam presentation ceremony. As I speak,

:01:34.:01:42.

bell`ringers are ringing hundreds of bells in celebration at this very

:01:43.:01:54.

moment. What do you think of the show? Amazing. The teams coling on

:01:55.:02:02.

stage, brilliant. Really good, thoroughly enjoyed it. Was ht value

:02:03.:02:11.

for money? Fantastic. The bhggest team presentation am the gr`ndest

:02:12.:02:17.

Grand Depart and this could be the defining moment in Yorkshird was

:02:18.:02:22.

macro history. It is time now to deliver.

:02:23.:02:25.

So with the global spotlight now on Yorkshire,

:02:26.:02:27.

how can our businesses take advantage?

:02:28.:02:28.

Our business correspondent, Danni Hewson, reports from

:02:29.:02:30.

the Grand Depart International Business Festival in Sheffidld.

:02:31.:02:34.

If there is one thing Yorkshire folk are good at,

:02:35.:02:37.

As the world arrives on our doorstep,

:02:38.:02:40.

its business leaders, buyers and trade journalist are behng given

:02:41.:02:44.

There are a lot of companies to meet around sports

:02:45.:02:49.

and around the different fidlds of sport industries.

:02:50.:02:53.

I think it is a good opporttnity to meet people and do busindss.

:02:54.:02:56.

This is the first time a business event has been created to coincide

:02:57.:03:00.

with the Grand Depart and the expectation is a number of deals

:03:01.:03:02.

There is going to be a rese`rch deal being signed for York university

:03:03.:03:07.

Yes it is stage one and two for the Tour de France

:03:08.:03:10.

but it is stage one and two of a long`term race

:03:11.:03:13.

And events are targeted so potential buyers in the health

:03:14.:03:17.

care sector spent the afternoon touring this Rotherham factory.

:03:18.:03:21.

Here they have created an artificial bone coating for their impl`nts

:03:22.:03:25.

so things like hip replacemdnts actually grow into the body.

:03:26.:03:30.

It's a fantastic platform to tell the world about

:03:31.:03:32.

the great technologies and the great clinical treatments

:03:33.:03:34.

that are produced and innov`ted here in Yorkshire.

:03:35.:03:39.

If the joints don't grab thdir fancy, how about the suits?

:03:40.:03:42.

A celebration of our textile manufacturers whose

:03:43.:03:45.

top notch and rather expenshve cloth could certainly appeal to expanding

:03:46.:03:48.

Wealthy people are always interested in spending their money in creative

:03:49.:03:54.

ways and so, you know, in that sense China is a good market for highly

:03:55.:03:58.

sophisticated luxury goods but it's also a matter

:03:59.:04:01.

of exposing people to them `nd that's what events like this do

:04:02.:04:06.

No`one with an interest in the economy under estimates

:04:07.:04:08.

You want to harness all the enthusiasm and energy and ptblic

:04:09.:04:15.

support for the Tour de France and turn it into something

:04:16.:04:19.

Some of those heading to Yorkshire today were still asking how far

:04:20.:04:26.

it was from London? Now thex have their answer, the next question is

:04:27.:04:29.

Well, nearly 1,000 roads will be closed for the Tour at various times

:04:30.:04:37.

From tomorrow morning your BBC local radio station has extra travel

:04:38.:04:45.

bulletins and key public information to help you get around, whether

:04:46.:04:48.

And there's also a Tour de France in Yorkshire page on the BBC

:04:49.:04:53.

website with information, news and features about the Tour.

:04:54.:04:58.

In other news, the owner of two pitbull dogs which

:04:59.:05:01.

mauled to death his pregnant partner in Leeds has been spared jahl.

:05:02.:05:04.

The judge said Lee Horner had expressed deep remorse

:05:05.:05:07.

for the horrific attack, which cost the life of Emma Bennett

:05:08.:05:10.

But he was told he'd failed to take reasonable steps to establish

:05:11.:05:15.

He was sentenced to 280 hours unpaid community work.

:05:16.:05:22.

Supermarket chain Asda is to cut 1,360 jobs as part of an ovdrhaul

:05:23.:05:27.

The move comes two months after the Leeds based chain, which

:05:28.:05:33.

has nearly 600 stores in thd UK warned that around 4,000 roles were

:05:34.:05:37.

at risk because of a need to reduce the number of back office jobs.

:05:38.:05:43.

West Yorkshire's Police Comlissioner Mark Burns`Williamson has sdcured

:05:44.:05:45.

a ?200,000 grant from The Mhnistry for Justice to create a network to

:05:46.:05:50.

Police will join the Hope for Justice charity and other groups

:05:51.:05:55.

aimed at rescuing and protecting victims of what Mr Burns`Williamson

:05:56.:06:00.

calls "the significant emerging threat" of trafficking.

:06:01.:06:03.

The Commissioner wants to hdad a national working group to help

:06:04.:06:05.

Yet another date and venue have been announced for Sheffield boxdr

:06:06.:06:11.

Kell Brook to fight for the world title.

:06:12.:06:13.

He will now take on the defdnding champion, Shaun Porter,

:06:14.:06:17.

It's the third date so far given for the IBF welterweight title showdown.

:06:18.:06:28.

It is looking a bit mixed and tomorrow rather cloudy. There is the

:06:29.:06:45.

weather front and by midday Saturday it should be clear so Saturday looks

:06:46.:06:50.

like a wet start but things will slowly improved. Right now, a lot of

:06:51.:06:56.

cloud and a bit of patchy r`in later on. Very mild indeed. The lhst

:06:57.:07:03.

temperatures, 13 or 14 degrdes `` lowest. Friday, skies should

:07:04.:07:09.

brighten. It is late afternoon when we will see the rain coming into the

:07:10.:07:15.

Pennines and by the end of tomorrow evening the rain will be towards the

:07:16.:07:21.

coast. Wet and windy tomorrow evening. Saturday, some overnight

:07:22.:07:25.

rain to clear and then it is brighter in the afternoon whth sunny

:07:26.:07:30.

spells and one of two showers. That is it

:07:31.:07:31.

outlook for the weekend is quite different.

:07:32.:07:38.

For those of you who haven't already heard, we've recorded our highest

:07:39.:07:44.

temperature so far this year, and that was in Writtle in Essex. It

:07:45.:07:50.

looks highly likely as well that we could see temperatures of a similar

:07:51.:07:54.

value for tomorrow. Anywhere through central London to the east could see

:07:55.:07:59.

highs of 27 to 29 degrees. But that is only one part of the story. The

:08:00.:08:03.

second part of the story is rain moving in as we speak across the far

:08:04.:08:06.

north and west. Some of that rain will turn heavy through the night

:08:07.:08:11.

across Northern Ireland and into western Scotland. I had a bit, cloud

:08:12.:08:15.

with pieces of rain but it will be a pretty mild night to

:08:16.:08:17.
