The family of the murdered Leeds school teacher Ann Maguire have

spoken for the first time as they prepare for a memorial servhce to

Mrs Maguire died after being attacked in her classroom.

This is where Ann Maguire spent 40 years teaching. Corpus Christi

Catholic College have been trying to recover after losing a membdr of

staff that they loved. But ht is a family that will miss her most. It

was a natural mothering qualities that made her such a wonderful

teacher. Speaking publicly for the first time since the death, Ann

Maguire's family said she m`naged to touch so many people's lives. I felt

that she helped make any growing up and making decisions. I think she

did that for all her pupils, so that is a special person that manages to

affect many lives in such a profound way. There is a memorial service

here at Leeds town hall tomorrow. The celebration of her life and what

she meant to her family and pupils. Thousands are expected and ht will

help the charity set up in her name. Its aim is to help yotng

people develop, given them ` chance to pursue music, drama, language and

dance. She brought me up with my grades in terms of my education

They say you always remember a good teacher so I am not surprisdd that

thousands of people do. It shows how popular she was.

The family of a Leeds man who is fighting Islamic State

on the frontline say he is doing the honourable thing by going back

Relatives of Saman didn't rdalise he had joined the Kurdish Peshlerga

Detectives investigating a serious sexual assault on a woman in Leeds

have released new CCTV imagds of a man they want to identhfy.

The woman was attacked in the Crown Street car park behind the

Corn Exchange in Leeds city centre in the early hours of Septelber 6.

Anyone who knows the man in the picture should contact police.

More than 5000 people took to the streets of Sheffield today

Professional athletes and a number of celebrities also took part.

Elite athletes from across the UK started this morning's race. People

lined the streets to cheer on the runners. They were a few faliliar

faces. As soon as I finished refereeing, it is too tempthng to

eat and drink too much. So H set myself a target and Randy Great

Yorkshire Run. It raises aw`reness for the charity, and setting a time,

which is what running is all about for me. This definitely won't be a

speedy affair. It is my first time in Sheffield. I am happy to look at

the sites slowly! The contest was one by Ross Millington wherd the

aptly named Gemma Steele won the women's race. It is estimatdd the

event will raise ?1 million for charity.

Good evening. As we head through this evening, it should stax dry
