South Yorkshire's former chief constable is in court as a judicial | :00:00. | :00:09.
review begins into his suspension over comments about Hillsborough. | :00:10. | :00:12.
We'll have the latest from the High Court in London. | :00:13. | :00:14.
and costing Yorkshire's councils millions. | :00:15. | :00:20.
A new report reveals the staggering cost of fixing Yorkshire's potholes. | :00:21. | :00:24.
But there are promises of better things to come. | :00:25. | :00:28.
We had some of the worst roads in the country. | :00:29. | :00:30.
and certainly won't be the case by December. | :00:31. | :00:34.
I would say we probably will have the best roads in the country. | :00:35. | :00:41.
A multi-million pound deal is unveiled | :00:42. | :00:42.
which could ensure international cricket continues at Headingley. | :00:43. | :00:47.
And can you believe that Lord of the Dance is now 20 years old? | :00:48. | :00:50.
Well, the show opens tonight at the Leeds Grand Theatre. | :00:51. | :00:53.
One of the stars is Denby Dale teenager Jessica Judge. | :00:54. | :01:01.
Blue skies will be at a premium over the next couple of days. | :01:02. | :01:04.
A lot of cloud. The risk of some patchy rain but it will be mild. | :01:05. | :01:08.
First tonight, the High Court in London has been hearing | :01:09. | :01:23.
there was insufficient evidence to suspend the former | :01:24. | :01:25.
South Yorkshire Police Chief David Crompton for controversial remarks | :01:26. | :01:30.
he made in the wake of the Hillsborough inquests. | :01:31. | :01:33.
A judicial review into the decision by the county's police and crime | :01:34. | :01:36.
commissioner to ask him to resign from his ?160,000 a year post | :01:37. | :01:40.
Our reporter David Rhodes has been in court. | :01:41. | :01:50.
Can you remind us of the background to this case? This all stems from | :01:51. | :01:57.
what happened in the immediate aftermath of the Hillsborough | :01:58. | :02:02.
inquests last year where the inquest found all 96 Liverpool football fans | :02:03. | :02:08.
in 1989 were killed unlawfully. The then Chief Constable at South | :02:09. | :02:12.
Yorkshire Police, David Crompton, issued two press statements. The | :02:13. | :02:17.
second one was controversial because some people interpreted to mean | :02:18. | :02:20.
South Yorkshire Police were still trying to blame the Liverpool fans | :02:21. | :02:23.
for the disaster. David Crompton denies that was the intention of his | :02:24. | :02:29.
second statement. But, Dr Alan Billings. Police and Crime | :02:30. | :02:34.
Commissioner of South Yorkshire felt that second statement continued to | :02:35. | :02:37.
undermine public confidence in the police force. He asked David | :02:38. | :02:41.
Crompton to retire or resign immediately. Effectively, he was | :02:42. | :02:45.
sacked. David Crompton's come to the High Court to ask this court to rule | :02:46. | :02:50.
that Dr Billings's decision was unlawful. What's been said in court | :02:51. | :02:58.
today? We've heard mainly from David Crompton's lawyers. They described | :02:59. | :03:02.
the Chief Constable as highly respected. They said there was a | :03:03. | :03:07.
poverty of evidence to back Alan Billings's decision. They say the | :03:08. | :03:13.
enforceds dismissal of David Crompton was reputation alley wholly | :03:14. | :03:16.
destructive to the former Chief Constable. What will happen next, do | :03:17. | :03:23.
we think? Tomorrow, we'll hear from Dr Alan Billings. He will make his | :03:24. | :03:28.
case. We expect he will continue to build this narrative that David | :03:29. | :03:32.
Crompton could not continue in his position because Dr Billings felt he | :03:33. | :03:35.
was undermining public confidence in the police. Let's be clear on this | :03:36. | :03:42.
point, though, this is not about David Crompton coming back Assistant | :03:43. | :03:44.
Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police. This is about the rule of | :03:45. | :03:48.
law. David Crompton wants this High Court to rule the decision to | :03:49. | :03:52.
effectively sack him was unlawful. Itlb interesting to see what | :03:53. | :03:53.
happens. Thank you. Next tonight - Yorkshire's roads | :03:54. | :03:56.
are in terminal decline, with more than ?1 billion needed | :03:57. | :03:58.
to put them back into a reasonable condition, | :03:59. | :04:01.
according to a new report. The Asphalt Industry Alliance | :04:02. | :04:04.
has found that more than 177,000 potholes were filled in, | :04:05. | :04:09.
in our region last year. In that time, our councils have paid | :04:10. | :04:12.
out more than ?750,000 in compensation claims for vehicle | :04:13. | :04:18.
damage caused by potholes. And the report says the list | :04:19. | :04:22.
of roads needing repairs has soared so much that it would take | :04:23. | :04:26.
?1.6 billion, and 12 years, The issue is said to have been | :04:27. | :04:30.
caused by increased traffic, wetter If you've ever driven round | :04:31. | :04:36.
Sheffield, you'll have done it slowly, making sure your nice new | :04:37. | :04:48.
wheels don't fall into the clutches of the city's long time scourge, | :04:49. | :04:51.
potholes. It's stuff like this people | :04:52. | :04:57.
in Sheffield have been driving on for ages, | :04:58. | :04:59.
a patchwork of decaying tarmac. But, we're being told, | :05:00. | :05:02.
at least here in Sheffield, this will soon be a distant | :05:03. | :05:08.
but bumpy memory. Sheffield did a deal with a private | :05:09. | :05:14.
company five years ago. A contract of over a billion | :05:15. | :05:19.
that promised to sort out The company, Amy, have until the end | :05:20. | :05:23.
of this year to make Then, they'll maintain them | :05:24. | :05:30.
for the next 25 years. We have had a few hiccups which | :05:31. | :05:35.
you'd expect on a project this size. Out of the 600 miles we've done | :05:36. | :05:39.
so far, about two miles of that Mainly because of soft clay | :05:40. | :05:42.
underneath the road. We're going back in and totally | :05:43. | :05:48.
redoing those to a deeper depth We had some of the worst | :05:49. | :05:51.
roads in the country. Certainly won't be | :05:52. | :05:57.
the case by December. I would say we probably | :05:58. | :06:03.
will have the best roads in the country by the end | :06:04. | :06:05.
of the year. That's the stuff Simon Williams | :06:06. | :06:07.
from York can only dream of. He runs a courier | :06:08. | :06:10.
company in the city. Repairs to his vans are costing him | :06:11. | :06:12.
thousands of pounds. We've had six windscreens | :06:13. | :06:16.
replaced in the past year. Again, all caused by vehicles | :06:17. | :06:19.
either hitting potholes There we are, we've | :06:20. | :06:25.
potholes on this road here. They're small potholes but they're | :06:26. | :06:32.
expanding all the time. The Department for Transport's | :06:33. | :06:35.
stumping up some more money today. It says it will give Yorkshire more | :06:36. | :06:39.
than ?100 million so we can But, back in Sheffield, | :06:40. | :06:42.
you only have to say the word I don't think there's | :06:43. | :06:51.
a decent road in Sheffield. Sometimes you can't avoid them | :06:52. | :06:57.
so you go straight into them. I dread to think what effect that | :06:58. | :07:02.
will have on my car. REPORTER: They are promising to sort | :07:03. | :07:05.
if out by the end of the year. Sheffield will have the best | :07:06. | :07:09.
roads in the country. I'll believe it when | :07:10. | :07:11.
I actually see it. Even in Sheffield where things | :07:12. | :07:13.
are already being smoothed out, for most people, it doesn't matter | :07:14. | :07:16.
how big the pot of money is, they still think | :07:17. | :07:19.
there will be holes. There's plenty still | :07:20. | :07:26.
on the way before 7.00pm. where the children can't get enough | :07:27. | :07:28.
of their times tables tests. Police are appealing for information | :07:29. | :07:42.
after a woman's body was found Police were called to Waterloo Lake | :07:43. | :07:47.
in Roundhay Park this morning. The body was spotted by a jogger | :07:48. | :07:53.
and later recovered from the water A postmortem is due to be | :07:54. | :07:56.
carried out tomorrow. The former head of music | :07:57. | :08:02.
at an independent school in North Yorkshire has been | :08:03. | :08:04.
sentenced to 28 months in prison after pleading guilty | :08:05. | :08:07.
to having sex with a pupil. Dara De Cogan was charged with ten | :08:08. | :08:11.
counts of sexual activity with a female boarder | :08:12. | :08:14.
at Ampleforth College. The judge said he'd taken | :08:15. | :08:17.
advantage of her innocence. A pregnant woman from Leeds | :08:18. | :08:20.
who was arrested in Rwanda Violet Uwamahoro was detained | :08:21. | :08:23.
after travelling to a family funeral and accused of sharing | :08:24. | :08:28.
state secrets. Yesterday, a judge ruled there was | :08:29. | :08:31.
no evidence to support the charges. The prosecution have five days | :08:32. | :08:35.
to appeal the decision. It's not known when Mrs Uwamahoro | :08:36. | :08:42.
will be allowed to return to the UK. First of all you think, | :08:43. | :08:46.
why was she arrested anyway. she's still alive and | :08:47. | :08:51.
now we can talk to her. I feel very happy | :08:52. | :08:57.
she has been released. I would like her to come back home | :08:58. | :09:02.
as soon as possible. Another North Yorkshire | :09:03. | :09:07.
primary school is to close. will shut at the end of the school | :09:08. | :09:09.
year. and numbers are expected to fall | :09:10. | :09:14.
further by Easter. Last month, it was announced that | :09:15. | :09:18.
Horton in Ribblesdale Primary - which has a similar number | :09:19. | :09:22.
of children - will also close. York Minster has confirmed that | :09:23. | :09:26.
their bells will ring out The bells were last | :09:27. | :09:28.
rung in December. The original team of 30 volunteers | :09:29. | :09:32.
were sacked last October Since then, the bells have only been | :09:33. | :09:35.
rung a handful of times Next tonight, we often hear, sadly, | :09:36. | :09:41.
about Yorkshire's schools being ranked among the worst | :09:42. | :09:47.
in the country. Well, one way the government | :09:48. | :09:50.
is trying to raise standards is by bringing in a times tables | :09:51. | :09:53.
test for all children in their final year | :09:54. | :09:55.
of primary school. Teachers' unions have | :09:56. | :09:57.
criticised the move, the pupils and the headteacher | :09:58. | :09:59.
think it's a great idea. Dave Edwards has been | :10:00. | :10:04.
finding out why. These children at Parklands Primary | :10:05. | :10:06.
School are doing multiplication. But not only that, they're then | :10:07. | :10:18.
taking the answer away from 100. They put a strong focus | :10:19. | :10:22.
on times tables here The grand final takes place | :10:23. | :10:27.
in assembly, although it looks more like a pop concert and the times | :10:28. | :10:35.
tables champions are the stars. The school says it's an approach | :10:36. | :10:40.
that's getting great results, has gone through the roof | :10:41. | :10:43.
in the last 24 months. They love the competitive | :10:44. | :10:50.
side of it. It's been an absolute spectacular | :10:51. | :10:53.
rise seeing these children come on As if to prove it, I asked some | :10:54. | :10:57.
of the children a simple question. and times tables is the best subject | :10:58. | :11:04.
I've ever done. The Government has confirmed all | :11:05. | :11:13.
children will take a national times But the National Association of | :11:14. | :11:26.
Head Teachers says it's unnecessary, uncosted and won't | :11:27. | :11:37.
tell teachers or parents This is a school that's had more | :11:38. | :11:40.
than its fair share of challenges. The new test might give these | :11:41. | :11:51.
children a chance to shine. It gives us an extra | :11:52. | :11:56.
something to sing about. We're classed as the most deprived | :11:57. | :11:58.
primary school in Leeds. But we're the best in the country | :11:59. | :12:03.
at the times tables. For once, a new test is coming in | :12:04. | :12:06.
that will put us right up there with How was your maths at school? | :12:07. | :12:31.
Terrible. That's why I'm a journalist. 6 X 10 minus 2, divided | :12:32. | :12:43.
by 2... 299 Plus 2? 39! Awful pressure. You | :12:44. | :12:47.
performed well! Thank you. The future of international cricket | :12:48. | :12:49.
and rugby league at Headingley could be secured thanks to a ?35 million | :12:50. | :12:52.
deal with a private investor. The money is needed to redevelop | :12:53. | :12:55.
stands on both sides of the ground to enable it to continue to host | :12:56. | :12:58.
big matches. Tanya is at Headingley | :12:59. | :13:00.
for us this evening. They're not just popping the | :13:01. | :13:17.
champagne corks yet. There is still a lot of work to do and they've seen | :13:18. | :13:22.
deals fail on this. This one really does have to work. That stand behind | :13:23. | :13:25.
me, the shared stand between the cricket and the rugby, needs to be | :13:26. | :13:31.
redeveloped by 2019 for the World Cup to be here. They need work to | :13:32. | :13:35.
start in accept. They need this deal to work out. Here at Leeds, Lionel | :13:36. | :13:44.
Dennison lost the toss. He lost the match. Headingley is steeped in | :13:45. | :13:48.
international history both in cricket and rugby league. The | :13:49. | :13:52.
physical link between the two grounds is part of what makes it | :13:53. | :13:55.
special. But it hasn't always made life easy. For years, both sides | :13:56. | :14:00.
have known the shared stand needed replacing, coming up with a deal to | :14:01. | :14:05.
do it has taken them to the brink. Today, the council announced what it | :14:06. | :14:08.
hopes will be the way forward. We've spoken to private investors in | :14:09. | :14:15.
London who are prepared to put up ?35 million subject to the three of | :14:16. | :14:19.
us coming together and working out a lease arrangement. We're very | :14:20. | :14:22.
confident we can now move this forward. This is what the new stand | :14:23. | :14:26.
will look like. Without it, Yorkshire will lose its status as a | :14:27. | :14:31.
Test match venue in the future and with the World Cup here in 2019, | :14:32. | :14:34.
they have to start work on it by September. In Yorkshire, we've over | :14:35. | :14:40.
770 cricket clubs. We've 12% of all recreational cricket in this | :14:41. | :14:43.
country. It's part of DNA of Yorkshire. I know that the ECB want | :14:44. | :14:49.
to bring cricket here as often as they can but we have to provide the | :14:50. | :14:54.
right facilities. Over on the rugby side, they also need a new South | :14:55. | :15:01.
stand. It's aConnie, atmospheric, the place people want to be. But | :15:02. | :15:05.
it's 86 years old. It is not much different to what it was then in | :15:06. | :15:09.
1930. It has been condemned. It needs to be replaced. Without this | :15:10. | :15:13.
deal, what happens to this? Well, we would have a problem. We'd have to | :15:14. | :15:20.
do something with it. So, what we do want to do is replace it with a | :15:21. | :15:25.
magnificent new facility that retains the terrace and uniqueness. | :15:26. | :15:29.
If this deal doesn't go ahead? Then we've got a huge problem. This deal | :15:30. | :15:35.
is not yet done for all three sides there are hurdles to clear. But they | :15:36. | :15:38.
are all working together with the common aim to retain international | :15:39. | :15:45.
sport at Headingley. You saw him briefly there, the Chief Executive | :15:46. | :15:49.
of Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Mark, is there a sigh of relief | :15:50. | :15:54.
tonight or too much to do? There's a lot to do but there is a sigh of | :15:55. | :15:58.
relief. The thought of international cricket not being played at | :15:59. | :16:02.
Headingley post 1019 didn't bear thinking about. We're very pleased | :16:03. | :16:07.
but we're cautiously optimistic. Just put into perspective for those | :16:08. | :16:11.
who haven't followed, how close are we getting to this not happening, of | :16:12. | :16:17.
you losing international cricket? We're right at the deadline. Often | :16:18. | :16:23.
things do go to the deadline. There's so much to do before we get | :16:24. | :16:27.
on site. We have to be on site by beginning of September. In order to | :16:28. | :16:33.
hit those dates, it means we have to do all of legalities. The devil is | :16:34. | :16:41.
always in the detail. But now councillor Blake and her team from | :16:42. | :16:44.
Leeds City Council have made this happen, we're all a little more | :16:45. | :16:48.
positive. What about the debt for Yorkshire? You're ?24 million in | :16:49. | :16:54.
debt. This will add more to it. Can the club sustain it? Where will the | :16:55. | :16:57.
money come from? It doesn't add anything to our debt. The way this | :16:58. | :17:02.
will be finances by a third party is effectively they will build the | :17:03. | :17:06.
stand and we will rent it off them. But, it's more money you have to | :17:07. | :17:10.
find. You still have a debt to service? The opportunity that this | :17:11. | :17:16.
brings us changes our income streams dramatically. 2019 itself will have | :17:17. | :17:28.
the World Cup, the Ashes. When you have a capacity of 27,850 it changes | :17:29. | :17:32.
the whole spectre of life at Headingley. The new facility will | :17:33. | :17:40.
give us a 450-seater hospitaly facility inside the stand. That will | :17:41. | :17:46.
give us 365 days of the year income which we haven't had to date. If it | :17:47. | :17:51.
doesn't happen, they can't get this over the line for Yorkshire? What | :17:52. | :17:56.
does this mean? Because of the new T20 format coming in in the year | :17:57. | :18:00.
2020, we are now financially self-sufficient. But we won't be | :18:01. | :18:05.
able to pay down our debt to the outside funders as quickly as if we | :18:06. | :18:09.
get this built. You need it to happen, really. The city needs it to | :18:10. | :18:12.
happen? From a cricketing point of view, we need it to happen. We | :18:13. | :18:17.
supply more players to the England set-up than anybody else. To think | :18:18. | :18:23.
of them not being able to play at their home ground when they're | :18:24. | :18:26.
representing England doesn't bear thinking about. It is a beautiful | :18:27. | :18:31.
sunset here, my cameraman keeps pointing that out. The exec pif | :18:32. | :18:37.
board of Leeds City Council will meet next month to ratify things. | :18:38. | :18:41.
Fingers crossed, international cricket and rugby league will be | :18:42. | :18:45.
staying put. Lots of maths in that feature! Lots of sums. | :18:46. | :18:49.
And a gorgeous sunset over Headingley tonight. | :18:50. | :18:51.
On to football now, and Sheffield United are hoping to take another | :18:52. | :18:54.
when they take on Millwall at Bramall Lane. | :18:55. | :18:56.
The Blades are top of the table with seven games to go. | :18:57. | :18:59.
Manager Chris Wilder says the fans' support will be crucial as they look | :19:00. | :19:02.
to return to the Championship after six seasons in League One. | :19:03. | :19:06.
I've said all along, we have to use the energy and enthusiasm of the | :19:07. | :19:13.
They can be the difference, giving us the energy to drive forward. | :19:14. | :19:25.
be part of the curriculum for children in schools? | :19:26. | :19:30.
Well, one North Yorkshire company believes it should and says it's | :19:31. | :19:33.
seeing big benefits after starting an afterschool club in Ripon. | :19:34. | :19:37.
Mindfulness for children has become popular down south | :19:38. | :19:40.
but it's claimed that in the North we've been slower to take it up. | :19:41. | :19:43.
When I feel upset or angry, it calms me down. | :19:44. | :19:57.
Breathe in for three and breathe out for five. | :19:58. | :20:09.
The breathing out part is a bit tricky for me. | :20:10. | :20:22.
These children in Ripon have joined a mindfulness and meditation | :20:23. | :20:38.
Mindfulness is all about being present in the moment. | :20:39. | :20:44.
Being aware of your feelings, behaviour and thoughts. | :20:45. | :20:48.
So, we're going to do some mindfulness jars for our mummies. | :20:49. | :20:51.
She says mindfulness has taken off in schools down south but here in | :20:52. | :20:57.
Yorkshire, we appear to have been slower to take it up. | :20:58. | :21:00.
She believes there are huge benefits for young children. | :21:01. | :21:05.
I think there are more pressures on children these days. | :21:06. | :21:08.
We try to incorporate meditation into school. | :21:09. | :21:11.
It allows the children to be able to feel comfortable with who they are. | :21:12. | :21:15.
Take time and space away from sensory overload. | :21:16. | :21:18.
We've had some local teachers who are trying to incorporate it | :21:19. | :21:21.
into their schools but it is not in the curriculum as such. | :21:22. | :21:25.
Now we're trying to imagine we have a really big balloon in front of us. | :21:26. | :21:31.
We get told a story about releasing all of struggles and things we have | :21:32. | :21:37.
I decided to release any stress or worry about tests we're doing. | :21:38. | :21:44.
I know if I try my best, that's all I can really do. | :21:45. | :21:48.
If I make fun of others, I should say sorry. | :21:49. | :21:51.
There's been much debate about making mindfulness part | :21:52. | :21:54.
The question is whether it will help these children | :21:55. | :22:00.
exams and the often tricky teenage years. | :22:01. | :22:13.
I feel very relaxed. I just want to go to sleep. | :22:14. | :22:20.
Ian, wake up. At the after show meeting, we can | :22:21. | :22:22.
can have a mindfulness session. This is guaranteed | :22:23. | :22:24.
to make you feel old. The Lord of the Dance, the world | :22:25. | :22:26.
wide phenomenon created by Michael Flatley, is celebrating 20 years | :22:27. | :22:29.
of entertaining audiences. Now, fresh from hugely successful | :22:30. | :22:30.
runs in the West End and Broadway, the production | :22:31. | :22:34.
opens in Leeds tonight. And one of the stars of the show | :22:35. | :22:36.
is a teenage acrobat. Yes, that's right, | :22:37. | :22:39.
an acrobat from Huddersfield. 20 years of success. The slick and | :22:40. | :22:56.
synchronised spectacle of Lord of the Dance thrilled audiences around | :22:57. | :23:00.
the world. Tonight, the show opens at the Grand Theatre in Leeds. One | :23:01. | :23:04.
of the stars of the production is 19-year-old Jessica Judge from Denby | :23:05. | :23:09.
Dale. Unlike the rest of the cast, she's an award-winning cack battic | :23:10. | :23:13.
gymnast. I can't believe I'm doing this. In the first year I joined the | :23:14. | :23:18.
show, I ended up going to South Africa, New Zealand. Singapore, | :23:19. | :23:24.
Australia. For that whole year, I couldn't understand what I was | :23:25. | :23:30.
doing. It was just mind blowing. Yes, sir Ka started gymnastics at | :23:31. | :23:33.
three years old. This video shows some of the jaw-dropping things she | :23:34. | :23:37.
can do. It was those skills that won her a lead part in the show two | :23:38. | :23:42.
years ago while travelling the world is exciting, this teenager's always | :23:43. | :23:45.
happy to be back in Yorkshire. As soon as I got home I was like, we're | :23:46. | :23:50.
in my home town, I'm going home. I see my family, spend the week at | :23:51. | :23:54.
home. They'll be watching the show this week. It should be a good week. | :23:55. | :24:00.
But while Jessica tumbles and turns, the rest of the cast are Irish | :24:01. | :24:05.
dancing. Michael Flatley's contemporary twist on this tradition | :24:06. | :24:08.
has filled stadiums and broken box office records. When he retired last | :24:09. | :24:13.
year, that famous lead role of the Lord was passed on to Matt, James | :24:14. | :24:18.
and Fergal. We've been lucky enough to have the role handed down to us. | :24:19. | :24:22.
Massive. We're really proud. A great feeling every night to perform to | :24:23. | :24:25.
crowds all over the UK and the world. Michael Flatley may no longer | :24:26. | :24:31.
be on stage but this young cast is keeping his dance show going strong. | :24:32. | :24:35.
For high-flying Jessica, performing in Leeds will be very special | :24:36. | :24:39.
performing in front of her family and friends. | :24:40. | :24:41.
Very nice. You've showbiz in your blood. Can you do all of that? Snail | :24:42. | :24:48.
if I had a glass of wine, I think I can. Paul? Us must be joking. | :24:49. | :24:56.
Terrible on the dance floor. The last time you were dancing around | :24:57. | :25:00.
your handbag, Paul. You've taps on those shoes? I | :25:01. | :25:06.
haven't. Some pictures. The first is a stunning one taken across | :25:07. | :25:10.
Sheffield at dusk. Thanks for sending that in Neil. The second one | :25:11. | :25:14.
is Stanage Edge looking beautiful. E-mail the pictures or tweet them to | :25:15. | :25:25.
me. This is the rooftop camera. It is that time of year, the clocks | :25:26. | :25:28.
have gone forward. We've some daylight. It has brightened up | :25:29. | :25:33.
nicely. We had a line of showers coming through an hour or two ago. | :25:34. | :25:41.
Back in the studio, the headline for tomorrow, a lot of cloud. Western | :25:42. | :25:45.
and northern areas getting further patchy rain. To the east on | :25:46. | :25:48.
Thursday, it could become quite warm. Temperatures potentially as | :25:49. | :25:55.
high as 17 or 18 degrees. Down to the south-west, that line of showers | :25:56. | :25:58.
came through West and South Yorkshire a couple of hours ago. | :25:59. | :26:00.
Behind it, we've a number of showers. Then more cloud and patchy | :26:01. | :26:04.
rain to come together. Which ever way you look at it, it will | :26:05. | :26:10.
deteriorate after a fine spell with showers and perhaps longer spells of | :26:11. | :26:13.
rain spreading up from the south-west. It will be a mild night. | :26:14. | :26:16.
Eventually temperatures drifting back to 7 or 8 Celsius. A moderate | :26:17. | :26:26.
south-west wind. The sun rises at about 6.45 am. Cloudy and damp | :26:27. | :26:33.
everywhere first thing. It looks like eastern areas will brighten for | :26:34. | :26:38.
a time. Eastern parts of South Yorkshire favoured tomorrow. Further | :26:39. | :26:42.
west, patchy rain and drizzle. It will at times spread eastwards. | :26:43. | :26:46.
Doncaster, Worksop seeing the best of the weather tomorrow. It will | :26:47. | :26:51.
feel fairly mild wherever you are with temperatures above average for | :26:52. | :26:54.
the end of March. The average is 9 or 10. 15 Celsius in Thirsk and York | :26:55. | :27:00.
with brightness. Pretty dreary at times across the Pennine hills as | :27:01. | :27:07.
that rain and drizzle continues. Into Thursday, cloudy and damp in | :27:08. | :27:11.
the west but it does brighten up through the afternoon. Certainly | :27:12. | :27:14.
Leeds, Sheffield, York, Bridlington may get up to 17 or 18 Celsius | :27:15. | :27:19.
Thursday afternoon. Friday looks unsettled. A bright start with rain | :27:20. | :27:23.
later. The weekend, cool and showery on Saturday. Sunday will be pick of | :27:24. | :27:27.
the two days at the moment with some sunshine. That is the forecast. Just | :27:28. | :27:33.
a little tap shuffle? No way. Far too professional for that. We'll try | :27:34. | :27:38.
to get it for the late shift. We'll tap off into the light. Join | :27:39. | :27:42.
us for the late news. For now, good night. | :27:43. | :27:45. |
