Good evening. Welcome to North West Tonight with Roger Johnson and | :00:09. | :00:12.
Ranvir Singh. Our top story: Will our children suffer? The | :00:12. | :00:14.
single parents who fear changes in child maintenance payments. | :00:14. | :00:18.
If the money is taken from me it is basically taken from the mouth of | :00:18. | :00:20.
my child. We will be asking if the changes | :00:20. | :00:26.
are fair to the taxpayer but too harsh on single parents. | :00:26. | :00:31.
Also: Hello, my name is Sean Roberts. | :00:31. | :00:33.
Selling themselves to employers, the teenagers making their own | :00:34. | :00:35.
video CVs. From this... To this. Snooker fans | :00:36. | :00:40.
see red over plans to turn their club into a lap-dancing venue. | :00:40. | :00:43.
Charged by the FA - Liverpool's Luis Suarez is accused of racially | :00:43. | :00:53.
abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra. | :00:53. | :00:56.
And join me with a generation of gymnasts in Liverpool who are on | :00:56. | :01:06.
:01:06. | :01:09. | ||
their way up, and down, and up, and Also tonight, Dave Guest is on the | :01:09. | :01:16.
red carpet at the Hilton in Manchester. | :01:16. | :01:21.
Yes, they are expecting a galaxy of megastars to stroll down this | :01:21. | :01:25.
carpet in aid of Children In Need. There is an auction but you will | :01:25. | :01:29.
need deep pockets to bid for the lots, because they include this | :01:29. | :01:36.
personalised Bentley. More later. First tonight, the plight of | :01:36. | :01:39.
thousands of single parents in the region who are chasing maintenance | :01:39. | :01:45.
payments from their former partners. From now on, they will to have to | :01:45. | :01:49.
pay the Child Support Agency to do the job of tracking down cash from | :01:49. | :01:50.
absent spouses. Today, the Government admitted | :01:50. | :01:53.
arrears have increased. In the North West alone, it is around half | :01:53. | :01:57.
a billion pounds. Their response? Charges. But that, say critics, is | :01:57. | :01:59.
tantamount to taking food out of children's mouths. Our economics | :02:00. | :02:02.
correspondent Jayne Barrett has been speaking to one mum who says | :02:02. | :02:05.
it is wrong. Dawn's partner left before their | :02:05. | :02:09.
child was born. A quick search on Facebook revealed he had five | :02:09. | :02:18.
children to four women. Chasing maintenance was a nightmare. A huge | :02:18. | :02:22.
fight from the very beginning. Trying to get a single penny | :02:22. | :02:26.
towards the upkeep of our son. Maintenance arrears in the North | :02:26. | :02:29.
West now stand at almost half a billion pounds. Those arrears are | :02:29. | :02:32.
chased by more than a thousand staff here in Birkenhead. A costly | :02:32. | :02:40.
business. Every pound that is gathered by staff it cost them 40p, | :02:40. | :02:45.
so in the future things will change. If this place is involved in | :02:45. | :02:49.
tracking down cash for your child, then you and your ex will be | :02:49. | :02:55.
expected to help pay for it. In the future, Dawn will pay an upfront | :02:55. | :02:58.
fee for CSA involvement, up to 100, then ongoing charges. Up to 12 | :02:58. | :03:01.
pence in every pound gathered will be paid by Dawn. Her ex will have | :03:01. | :03:05.
to pay 20p on top of every pound paid. They hope charges will be an | :03:05. | :03:07.
incentive for parents to work together. In Oldham yesterday, | :03:07. | :03:10.
Yvonne Clinton met a representative from Child Maintenance Options. | :03:10. | :03:16.
This is what the Government wants to do more of in the future. | :03:16. | :03:20.
have got the children to think about... They advise people like | :03:20. | :03:25.
Yvonne on how to go it alone, without the CSA. I thought it was | :03:25. | :03:32.
either the CSA or the solicitor route, and when Maintenance Options | :03:32. | :03:36.
came, I realise there was another way of doing things. Three weeks | :03:36. | :03:37.
into Yvonne's separation, maintenance arrangements are going | :03:37. | :03:41.
well. A year after Dawn split, there is little money coming in. A | :03:41. | :03:47.
lot of anger about the future. There is no chance that we could | :03:47. | :03:53.
reach an amicable decision. If the money is taken away from me, it is | :03:53. | :03:57.
basically taken from the mouth of my child. | :03:57. | :03:59.
Jayne is here. We should say we wanted to put that | :04:00. | :04:02.
complaint to the Minister responsible. | :04:02. | :04:06.
We were told weeks ago that Maria Miller would speak to us. Yesterday, | :04:06. | :04:11.
very late in the day, she said that would not be possible. But what | :04:12. | :04:15.
Maria Miller and he believes is that the CSA is adversary, it | :04:15. | :04:19.
drives a wedge between people, encourages them not to sort things | :04:19. | :04:23.
out, and if people go it alone it would be cheaper for the government | :04:23. | :04:26.
and more successful. We have had quite a few opinions | :04:26. | :04:31.
coming in today on e-mail. Quite a bit of -- quite a lot of people are | :04:31. | :04:38.
not agreeing with that. This one is typical: Meggie Scott says, "The | :04:38. | :04:43.
CSA is a joke. Why pay them for a job badly done"? | :04:44. | :04:49.
The CSA would say that collections are at an all-time high. They think | :04:50. | :04:53.
the charges will work but if it will be an incentive for change it | :04:53. | :04:57.
has to hit both parents. There are a few more e-mails. Maree | :04:57. | :05:00.
McAlpine says, "'Man up and pay for your own children or don't bother | :05:00. | :05:04.
having any if you are going to rely on other people". Jude Smyth says, | :05:04. | :05:07.
"It is a joke. My husband lied constantly about his employment and | :05:07. | :05:14.
income". And that particular point is something they will look into? | :05:14. | :05:19.
Part of the reforms is a brand new computer system, in the past they | :05:19. | :05:23.
have been riddled with problems but this will be linked to the taxman | :05:23. | :05:27.
so less chance for people to hide their wages. We had an e-mail from | :05:27. | :05:31.
somebody with an abusive partner, and I should say those upfront | :05:31. | :05:35.
charges will be waived for victims of domestic violence. Lee | :05:35. | :05:41.
Mullenburg says, "Time the CSA was closed for good". | :05:41. | :05:46.
He has potentially got his wish? The CSA will go, at least in name. | :05:46. | :05:50.
The same people in the same places will carry out the reforms in the | :05:50. | :05:55.
new service. Even if you do not pay the CSA to manage your maintenance, | :05:55. | :06:00.
the CSA can, at a later date, if anybody defaults, get involved and | :06:01. | :06:05.
they feel they will have more scope to do that in the future. Some | :06:05. | :06:09.
suggestions are for them to be able to seize passports, driving licence | :06:09. | :06:13.
-- driving licences, as well as cars and houses. More details in | :06:13. | :06:19.
December. Thank you. | :06:19. | :06:22.
There are now over a million unemployed young people in the you | :06:22. | :06:29.
OK, 6-5,000 in the North West -- in the UK. Some believe that the | :06:29. | :06:32.
rebirth of apprenticeship schemes could help and today young | :06:32. | :06:35.
apprentices were recording their own video CVs to help boost their | :06:35. | :06:39.
prospects. This visit is part of the daily | :06:40. | :06:43.
routine for many job seekers in Liverpool, most have gone months | :06:43. | :06:49.
without employment. I will say it is tough, and I have been told it | :06:49. | :06:53.
is tougher to find a job now than previous years. I had a couple of | :06:53. | :06:58.
jobs, working in bingo and in a hairdresser's, but there is no work | :06:58. | :07:08.
:07:08. | :07:08. | ||
out there. With your experience made that job? Yes, it would. | :07:08. | :07:13.
stroke of luck, he has managed to get some trial work. The big story | :07:13. | :07:17.
coming out of the figures is the rise in youth unemployment. In the | :07:17. | :07:24.
North West there are 64,016-24- year-olds claiming jobseeker's | :07:24. | :07:34.
allowance, -- 64,000 16-24-year- olds. Sean Roberts is one face | :07:34. | :07:38.
behind the figures. He is making a video CV in a bid to stand at from | :07:38. | :07:45.
the crash. If they want you to come back, they want you working for | :07:45. | :07:49.
them, it sets you out from everyone else, it is not just a photograph | :07:49. | :07:56.
or piece of paper. It is part of an apprenticeship scheme run by a | :07:56. | :08:00.
local councils. Stephen Baker is offering a marketing apprenticeship | :08:00. | :08:05.
as part of the programme. I think it is essential, it persuaded us to | :08:05. | :08:10.
create a vacancy. Had the incentive not been put together by the local | :08:10. | :08:14.
authority we probably and would not have created the role. For Sean, | :08:14. | :08:17.
the wait continues, but with initiatives like this, he hopes the | :08:17. | :08:27.
:08:27. | :08:32. | ||
weight will not be for too long. The Chairman of the BBC Trust was | :08:32. | :08:35.
at the corporation's new base at MediaCity in Salford today. Lord | :08:35. | :08:38.
Patten, who oversees how the BBC spends its licence fee, was asked | :08:38. | :08:40.
about the proposed cuts to local radio. | :08:40. | :08:43.
I recognise there is a strong case made for local radio as part of the | :08:43. | :08:47.
blue of local communities, greatly trusted in every community, and we | :08:47. | :08:51.
will take account of that. We will come forward with our final | :08:51. | :08:55.
proposals early next year. It has been confirmed that this | :08:55. | :08:57.
year's Royal Variety Performance will be held at the Lowry Theatre | :08:57. | :09:02.
at Salford Quays. The show will be hosted by the Bolton comic Peter | :09:02. | :09:11.
Kay. It will be held on Monday 5th December. Artist will include Barry | :09:11. | :09:14.
Manilow. Snooker fans in Manchester are | :09:14. | :09:17.
seeing red over plans to turn their club into a lap-dancing venue. | :09:17. | :09:20.
Manchester City Council has defended its decision to allow | :09:20. | :09:22.
another gentleman's club in the city centre even though there has | :09:22. | :09:25.
been opposition from police and residents. Nina Warhurst reports. | :09:25. | :09:28.
It might not be everyone's idea of a decent Friday night out, but the | :09:28. | :09:32.
sexual entertainment industry is legal and it is growing. | :09:32. | :09:35.
Manchester's seventh lap dancing club is set to open here on | :09:35. | :09:39.
Deansgate. The property owners have decided to take the space off | :09:39. | :09:42.
Rileys snooker club so it can be re opened as Baby Blue Gentleman's | :09:42. | :09:46.
club by a different company. Rileys say this has come out of the blue, | :09:46. | :09:52.
and they were not given adequate warning. It is hurtful that we have | :09:52. | :09:58.
been here for such a long time, paid the rates, paid the bills, | :09:58. | :10:03.
kept a great turnover and just like that we are asked to leave. Greater | :10:03. | :10:05.
Manchester Police did try to stop the licence being granted, arguing | :10:05. | :10:09.
it goes against council policy to build the club in an area near | :10:09. | :10:11.
housing, historic buildings, places of worship or other places of | :10:11. | :10:17.
entertainment. Two residents also tried to block it, one arguing: | :10:17. | :10:20.
"This used to be a classy, clean, historical and beautiful part of | :10:20. | :10:22.
Manchester that is in danger of becoming undesirable and crime- | :10:22. | :10:31.
Manchester City Council today told us that nobody has done anything | :10:31. | :10:33.
wrong, that all the correct licence application procedures were | :10:33. | :10:36.
followed, and that they considered all the complaints and they were | :10:36. | :10:46.
:10:46. | :10:49. | ||
not sufficient to block the licence. In the North West, sex is selling. | :10:49. | :10:52.
On top of the seven licences in Manchester, there are also nine in | :10:52. | :10:56.
Liverpool and in 2 Preston. Katie has been dancing for over a year | :10:56. | :10:58.
and says because security is so tight, lap-dancing clubs are much | :10:58. | :11:03.
safer than mainstream clubs. Never, ever any trouble, no fight. He | :11:03. | :11:10.
might get one lairy person, but not often. You get looked after. | :11:10. | :11:12.
owners of the Baby Blue licence declined an interview. As | :11:12. | :11:15.
developments move in to the planning stage, the council says it | :11:15. | :11:23.
is again open to listening to Still to come on North West | :11:23. | :11:26.
Tonight: Several champions on the bounce - | :11:26. | :11:30.
we will visit the club with more ups than downs. | :11:30. | :11:33.
And forget hip ops, this is hip hop - the theatre group bringing street | :11:33. | :11:43.
:11:43. | :11:50. | ||
dance to Liverpool's Alder Hey If you wanted to find something on | :11:50. | :11:53.
the bottom of the River Mersey, that might present you with a bit a | :11:53. | :11:56.
problem. Zero visibility in the freezing water and wicked tides | :11:56. | :11:59.
being just the start of your worries. But the Royal Navy have | :11:59. | :12:02.
just started a ten-day operation to make a new map of the Mersey | :12:02. | :12:04.
riverbed. And it has some very hi-tech | :12:04. | :12:07.
gadgetry to help. Andy Gill reports. Across the Mersey to the mine- | :12:07. | :12:10.
hunter HMS Brocklesby. She is just back from active service off Libya. | :12:10. | :12:13.
But this another kind of assignment altogether... To make an accurate | :12:13. | :12:20.
new map of the bed of the Mersey. It is part of a maritime counter- | :12:20. | :12:24.
terrorism initiative. Although there is no specific threat to | :12:24. | :12:28.
Liverpool or any major port at this time, it is part of the state of | :12:28. | :12:32.
prepared and has said that, should something happen, we are ready to | :12:32. | :12:38.
respond quickly. First, the crew use sonar to detect objects on the | :12:38. | :12:44.
riverbed. Right down to tyres and shopping trolleys. Then a Sea Fox | :12:44. | :12:48.
torpedo is winched out and lowered into the water. This one only has | :12:48. | :12:56.
lights and camera on board. But they also come with high explosives. | :12:56. | :13:00.
One of the reasons it is important to survey the Mersey regularly is | :13:00. | :13:05.
that the tides are so strong that the river bed can change rapidly. | :13:05. | :13:09.
Unfortunately today the tides are such that it is not safe to put the | :13:09. | :13:14.
surveillance vehicle in the water. Car of our operations in the Mersey | :13:14. | :13:18.
are not only about building a seabed map. It allows us also to | :13:18. | :13:22.
learn the environment in which we are working. The high tidal streams | :13:22. | :13:26.
with strong winds on giving us problems at the moment and reducing | :13:26. | :13:30.
opportunities to send the vehicle away. But to give you an idea of | :13:30. | :13:34.
what the Sea Fox can do, here is underwater footage from one of the | :13:34. | :13:37.
ship's operations off Libya this summer. The spiky sphere is a mine | :13:37. | :13:41.
laid by Gaddafi's forces. When the image disappears is when HMS | :13:41. | :13:50.
Brocklesby blew it up. HMS Brocklesby is surveying the river | :13:50. | :13:57.
for the next ten days. Remarkable pictures on the river | :13:57. | :14:03.
bed. Sport now, and some braking is on | :14:03. | :14:07.
the controversy surrounding Luis Suarez? | :14:07. | :14:10.
Suarez has tonight been charged by the FA with using abusive and/or | :14:10. | :14:12.
insulting words and/or behaviour towards Manchester United's Patrice | :14:12. | :14:18.
Evra during the Premier League match at Anfield on October 15th. | :14:18. | :14:22.
It is further alleged, say the FA in the charge, that it included a | :14:22. | :14:30.
reference to the ethnic origin and/ or colour and/ or race of Patrice | :14:30. | :14:36.
Evra. Liverpool has issued a statement tonight, we have just had | :14:36. | :14:40.
it in: We will discuss the matter with him when he returns from | :14:40. | :14:44.
international duty but he will plead not guilty to the charge and | :14:44. | :14:48.
we expect him to request a personal hearing. He is determined to clear | :14:48. | :14:52.
his name and the global support temples still we will follow that | :14:52. | :14:56.
story. -- and the club will continue to | :14:56. | :15:00.
support him. We will follow that story. | :15:00. | :15:03.
Everton fans are staging a second march against the club's board | :15:03. | :15:05.
before Saturday's home game against Wolves. The Blue Union fans' group | :15:05. | :15:09.
claim the club is stagnating after the sale of key players and the | :15:09. | :15:12.
lack of transfer funds. This was the first protest in September, and | :15:12. | :15:15.
they are continuing to call for Bill Kenwright to sell the club, | :15:15. | :15:18.
although the Chairman insists he is actively trying to find a buyer. | :15:18. | :15:21.
And in a statement today, the club emphasised that point, adding that | :15:21. | :15:23.
talks about fresh investment and ownership continue with interested | :15:23. | :15:25.
parties. One player who Everton fans hope | :15:25. | :15:28.
will be at Goodison for years is Jack Rodwell, who last night made | :15:28. | :15:31.
his first start for England. The 20-year-old was one of a number of | :15:31. | :15:34.
young North West players to feature against Sweden. A deflected header | :15:34. | :15:37.
from one of the old guard, though, Manchester City's Gareth Barry, | :15:37. | :15:40.
sealed victory for England, their second in three days. | :15:40. | :15:42.
The World Trampolining Championships start in Birmingham | :15:42. | :15:45.
tomorrow and three North West gymnasts have very, very high hopes | :15:45. | :15:49.
of using them to qualify for Team GB at the 2012 Games. The trio not | :15:49. | :15:53.
only share the aim of winning a medal, they are also helped by the | :15:53. | :15:57.
fact they share an office, which is where I went to try to catch up | :15:57. | :16:03.
with them. If lightning does not strike twice, | :16:03. | :16:12.
tell this lot. Pigeon that has produced legends like Beth Tweddle | :16:12. | :16:18.
has done it again, producing a new generation who are on their way | :16:18. | :16:23.
up... And they are staying up. This time, Beth Tweddle is in the | :16:23. | :16:31.
background. Instead, Emma Smith, looks strong and Jack helm will | :16:31. | :16:34.
bounce into Birmingham tomorrow with a Olympic qualification on | :16:34. | :16:39.
their minds. Time to have a word with one of the young superstars. M. | :16:39. | :16:47.
Emma. In the background, we have Beth Tweddle training. There are | :16:47. | :16:50.
three of you going for the Olympics, what is special about this | :16:50. | :16:55.
gymnasium? The athletes that we have, it is great training | :16:55. | :16:59.
alongside Bath, she is an inspiration, we all want to be as | :16:59. | :17:04.
good as her -- training alongside Beth Tweddle. It is the numbers | :17:04. | :17:08.
that we do, keep going, keep going, everybody pushes each other to get | :17:08. | :17:14.
better. My real aim is 20 16th, so I will hopefully peak by then but I | :17:14. | :17:22.
guess you cannot rule out 2012 -- might real aim is 2016. Emma is the | :17:22. | :17:25.
only person in the world to perform three triple somersault on a | :17:25. | :17:31.
trampoline. When you approach that, is it bravery, skill or stupidity?! | :17:31. | :17:35.
Bravery and skill, but maybe a bit of stupidity because no one has | :17:35. | :17:39.
done it before and you have to have an edge. Just walking through the | :17:39. | :17:43.
door of this place, it feels like you get an edge. | :17:43. | :17:46.
Rugby League now, and Warrington Wolves' forward Adrian Morley has | :17:46. | :17:48.
been talking about his pride at becoming Britain's most-capped | :17:48. | :17:51.
player this weekend. Morley will pick up his 50th international cap | :17:51. | :17:53.
in England's Four Nations final against Australia on Saturday. And | :17:53. | :18:00.
the veteran says it is the biggest game of his career. | :18:00. | :18:03.
The first five or six years I missed a lot of international games | :18:03. | :18:06.
through injury so it is only the fact I have played longer than I | :18:06. | :18:10.
thought I would that I have got there, but I am very, very pleased | :18:10. | :18:14.
to have played that long,., and to get to 50 is a very good | :18:14. | :18:19.
achievement. Good luck to him, get -- could look | :18:19. | :18:23.
to England. I know you think that all of the | :18:23. | :18:27.
stars are here now, but there are even more in Manchester City Centre | :18:27. | :18:31.
tonight. They have gathered for Gary Barlow's special Children In | :18:31. | :18:34.
Need fundraising dinner ahead of the Manchester Rocks concert | :18:34. | :18:36.
tomorrow night. Dave Guest is on the red carpet. | :18:36. | :18:40.
The biggest star of all! That is right, the stars have been | :18:40. | :18:44.
arriving in their droves while if you have been away from us. I have | :18:44. | :18:49.
been speaking to Jason Donovan, Sir Terry Wogan, Michelle Collins, all | :18:49. | :18:52.
here to support this charity event which has been organised by Gary | :18:52. | :18:57.
Barlow. He arrived a short time ago, we will show you some pictures but | :18:57. | :19:01.
there is flash photography in the images. Gary Barlow organised | :19:01. | :19:06.
Children In Need rocks the Albert Hall in 2009, but when he brought | :19:06. | :19:09.
in Noci wanted to make it bigger and better than ever, so he has | :19:09. | :19:14.
attracted a top line-up of stars, as he told us a short while ago. | :19:14. | :19:17.
My idea was to leave it out of London, ought to Manchester, and | :19:18. | :19:23.
open it up to the world. We have Americans, Canadians, people from | :19:23. | :19:28.
everywhere flying in. There are a few small names, Lady GaGa, | :19:28. | :19:32.
Coldplay, we have got Michael Buble. It is great for Manchester, great | :19:32. | :19:37.
for the charity, we hope to make a lot of money. | :19:37. | :19:43.
That was Gary Barlow speaking to us a short time ago. You may have | :19:43. | :19:46.
heard of hospital steering hip operations, but what about a | :19:46. | :19:50.
hospital that provides hip hop? That has been happening thanks to | :19:51. | :19:53.
Children In Need to have enabled a local charity to provide street | :19:53. | :19:59.
dance and music lessons to children at Liverpool's Alder Hey hospital. | :19:59. | :20:08.
But sea bear went along to try out a few moves. -- Pudsey has been | :20:08. | :20:14.
along to learn a few moves. When we heard Breakin' Convention | :20:14. | :20:23.
were coming in, we were very excited. We were rapping, they told | :20:23. | :20:32.
us how to rap our -- ourselves. teach a lot of schools -- a lot of | :20:32. | :20:36.
skills, creative writing, performers, poetry. I had a dinner | :20:36. | :20:44.
pink, she is amazing that sometimes lazy -- I had a guinea pig. Dance | :20:44. | :20:50.
is a very big part of Breakin' Convention's activities. Learning | :20:50. | :20:53.
all of the dance moves, you think, I want to be able to do that. | :20:53. | :21:02.
Another section is music. To create beads with the young people. A lot | :21:02. | :21:09.
of what we do is just fun. Breakin' Convention have made today's a | :21:09. | :21:15.
really enjoyable. You cannot wait until tomorrow morning when they | :21:15. | :21:19.
are there again -- have made their days. Once you get over the hurdle | :21:19. | :21:22.
of the fact that this young person is really sick and just get into | :21:22. | :21:27.
that bit of joy that they can have in what might be a miserable time | :21:27. | :21:31.
that they are having, I think that makes everything worth it. | :21:31. | :21:36.
One more time! It does make you happy and cheer | :21:36. | :21:42.
you up when you do different things. Doing the hip hop Hospital at the | :21:42. | :21:46.
Alder Hey Children's Hospital has been amazing. The young people here | :21:46. | :21:52.
have just been completely engaged with the work that we are doing. | :21:53. | :21:58.
Children In Need, thank you! The cash you donate goes towards | :21:58. | :22:02.
projects like Breakin' Convention and it is really helpful for young | :22:02. | :22:05.
people like us in hospital for Ulster thank you, or Children In | :22:05. | :22:14.
Need! -- helpful for young people like us. | :22:14. | :22:19.
Thank you, Children In Need! Did you get to speak to Jason | :22:19. | :22:23.
Donovan? Or did he leave you out of the way? | :22:23. | :22:29.
I spoke to him and he said it is good to be at -- good to be here in | :22:29. | :22:32.
Manchester. He said it is good that Gary Barlow has attracted all of | :22:32. | :22:37.
these big names to Manchester for tomorrow. Speaking to Sir Terry | :22:37. | :22:41.
Wogan as he got out of his car, he said it is good to see a good | :22:41. | :22:44.
turnout in Manchester and again he praised Gary Barlow's efforts in | :22:44. | :22:49.
raising lots of money for Children In Need by getting top celebrities | :22:49. | :22:52.
on board, which is always going to bring in the money. He said they | :22:52. | :23:01.
should be striking a medal for Gary Barlow. I did not ask him if he was | :23:01. | :23:05.
going to bid for the Bentley over there, surely the ultimate auction | :23:05. | :23:09.
prize. I have done a lot of options but have never had to auction a | :23:09. | :23:13.
Bentley! But I know you will be coming down later, when you be | :23:13. | :23:16.
bidding? I able to a whip round here and see | :23:16. | :23:21.
if we can get a wing mirror! We probably cannot even afford that! | :23:21. | :23:28.
I was thinking of saying you will put in an advanced bid of 100 grand. | :23:28. | :23:32.
He has got the wrong idea of how much money we have got! | :23:32. | :23:38.
Have a great night, enjoy the stars. The biggest is on her way down in | :23:38. | :23:42.
about eight minutes! I think they were running out of | :23:42. | :23:47.
people to invite so I got invited! Shall we have a look at the | :23:47. | :23:55.
It has been hit and miss through the day today. It has been chilly, | :23:55. | :23:59.
we had overnight temperatures and it took some time to recover. The | :23:59. | :24:03.
weather in Manchester was due to be cloudy, but the sun came out. It | :24:03. | :24:06.
has been murky in Merseyside and that is where we thought the sun | :24:06. | :24:11.
would be. Wherever you are tonight, it will be a fairly wet one. A band | :24:12. | :24:15.
of rain is creeping towards us from the Irish Sea, and I think from | :24:15. | :24:22.
here onwards under quite a lot of cloud cover, it disappears as we | :24:22. | :24:26.
head through the satellite picture, but the rain will be the story. You | :24:26. | :24:30.
can see it trying to get in from the Irish Sea and the closer you | :24:30. | :24:33.
are to the coast the more you will see, but most places will see a bit | :24:33. | :24:37.
from time to time and the ground could be damned. Even places close | :24:37. | :24:42.
to the Pennines, which will not see as much as other parts. It will | :24:42. | :24:45.
clear the Isle of Man last. The cloud cover is always good because | :24:45. | :24:49.
it means we will not have a repeat of last night's temperatures, which | :24:49. | :24:55.
were fairly low. The next couple of lights remain fairly mild, no frost | :24:55. | :25:01.
on the horizon for the next four or five days. When you get up tomorrow | :25:01. | :25:05.
morning, if you are in the Isle of Man, parts of Cumbria and parts of | :25:05. | :25:08.
northern Lancashire you may have some drizzle here and there, but | :25:08. | :25:12.
look at the rest of the region. The clearance comes in quickly, spreads | :25:12. | :25:16.
north as the day goes on, and patchy cloud and sunny spells of | :25:16. | :25:21.
the Order of the forecast with sunny spells or winning through. In | :25:21. | :25:24.
parts of northern Cumbria and drilled and Lancashire you may have | :25:24. | :25:29.
more cloud than elsewhere, but still a lovely day. The cloud is | :25:29. | :25:33.
starting to come back in because another band of rain is waiting in | :25:33. | :25:37.
the wings, but best if it comes overnight because it does not | :25:37. | :25:41.
bother too many of us. It will cloud over towards teatime. | :25:41. | :25:45.
Temperatures, with that southerly breeze, it will feel quite nice out | :25:45. | :25:50.
and about, an awful lot of sunshine, so temperatures of 11, 12 degrees, | :25:50. | :25:56.
quite good for the time of year. After that, it is not a bad picture. | :25:56. | :26:01.
We tend to have these weather friends, dithering over, coming and | :26:01. | :26:07.
going, wavering through Friday and Saturday. Always a bit too close to | :26:07. | :26:10.
comfort, but by Sunday they made out of the way. This is the | :26:10. | :26:14.
forecast for the next couple of days. Friday and Saturday will be | :26:14. | :26:18.
fairly cloudy, but by the time we get to Sunday they should be out of | :26:18. | :26:22.
the way and the sun comes back out, but you can see temperatures fall | :26:23. | :26:27.
as we head towards Sunday and the start of next week, but if you do | :26:27. | :26:30.
not like the cold nights, the next couple of nights are no problem at | :26:30. | :26:37.
all, close to double figures. We have got plenty of time, you can | :26:37. | :26:41.
do Christmas Day, if you like! We have got a special programme | :26:41. | :26:45.
tomorrow because he will be at Manchester Rocks. | :26:45. | :26:49.
My show is behind the scenes tomorrow night. | :26:49. | :26:53.
Have you figured out what you will say to the stars? | :26:53. | :26:59.
Not to Lady GaGa. Maybe, when you always wear neat? | :26:59. | :27:09.
:27:09. | :27:12. | ||
Can we say you have met the man himself? Yes. He met Gary Barlow on | :27:12. | :27:18.
Monday. He is the David Beckham of the music interest rate -- music | :27:18. | :27:23.
industry. But always really nice to talk to. That is tomorrow night. | :27:23. | :27:24. |
