Good evening. Welcome to North-West Tonight with Roger Johnson.

:00:07.:00:16.

And Ranvir Singh. Our top story: The winners and losers as families

:00:16.:00:21.

struggle to make ends meet in the run-up to Christmas. Personally I

:00:21.:00:26.

believe it's got to get worse before it gets better.

:00:26.:00:29.

In the first of a special series, we find out how inflation is

:00:30.:00:31.

affecting families in Blackpool. Also tonight:.

:00:31.:00:33.

The youths who attacked this pensioner with a concrete slab

:00:34.:00:36.

boast on Facebook about getting away with it, prompting anger in

:00:36.:00:44.

the Commons. The miracle baby born to a

:00:44.:00:47.

Merseyside mum after doctors warned a pregnancy could kill her.

:00:47.:00:50.

And counting down to curtain up - we meet the panto stars putting the

:00:50.:00:57.

finishing touches to a home-grown Beauty and the Beast. It takes over

:00:57.:01:07.
:01:07.:01:11.

your life, actually, because you Thousands of families are at risk

:01:11.:01:14.

of eviction from their homes this Christmas because they can't afford

:01:14.:01:17.

to pay the rent. A new report from two charities today also says many

:01:18.:01:20.

children are being brought up on snacks, while other families wear

:01:20.:01:23.

their coats indoors because they can't afford the heating. But it

:01:23.:01:30.

wasn't all bad news today. Inflation figures show that the

:01:30.:01:33.

cost of living here in the north- west is coming down. Our economics

:01:33.:01:36.

correspondent Jayne Barrett is out at one of Manchester's Christmas

:01:36.:01:42.

markets now where those falling prices will certainly be welcomed.

:01:42.:01:46.

Absolutely. I mean, at last a little bit of economic news worth

:01:46.:01:49.

cheering - a small drop in inflation, but at least it's going

:01:49.:01:52.

in the right direction. There's a problem, though, and that problem

:01:52.:01:56.

is that average earnings here in the north-west are going in the

:01:56.:02:00.

same direction as well - down - for the fourth year running. It doesn't

:02:00.:02:04.

affect everybody. These guys have just told me they're going to be

:02:04.:02:07.

spending more this Christmas, but for others, it means tough

:02:07.:02:10.

decisions about how they're going to be able to afford to make ends

:02:10.:02:20.
:02:20.:02:25.

166. The Blackpool's Empire Bingo - all eyes are on the numbers. The

:02:25.:02:30.

biggest today - inflation is down, from 5.2%, in September, a three-

:02:30.:02:38.

year high, fallen to 4.8%, good news for some. Where's the camera?

:02:38.:02:43.

Ahh! Those whose income hasn't really changed in the downturn, but

:02:43.:02:48.

for those whose income has fallen... These aren't winners. They're

:02:48.:02:52.

unlikely to feel the benefit of prices that have Marge snally

:02:52.:02:58.

dropped. Kevin Roberts is an entertainer in the resorts hotels.

:02:58.:03:02.

His 12,000-a-year salary hasn't changed in five years. The cost of

:03:02.:03:07.

living is going up. The wage isn't going down. When do you see things

:03:07.:03:09.

picking up? I don't know. Personally I believe it's got to

:03:09.:03:13.

get worse before it gets better. I don't think we're at rock bottom

:03:13.:03:17.

yet, to be honest. His partner, Robert King, is a Blackpool tram

:03:18.:03:21.

driver. His job came to an end with the end of the summer season. With

:03:21.:03:31.

it, his income was slashed. income from 20 a week - it goes to

:03:31.:03:38.

67 a week in winter. How do you cope? I can't. I can't. You can't

:03:38.:03:42.

keep an eye on the inflation numbers without taking into account

:03:43.:03:46.

another number, average earnings. In the north-west it's down 0.2%

:03:46.:03:52.

this year, but there are some big variations. In Chester, it's down

:03:52.:03:56.

11.4%. There's some good news in some areas - in Wirral West,

:03:56.:04:01.

average earnings are up 18%. But back in Blackpool, it remains at

:04:01.:04:06.

the bottom of the table with the lowest average earnings in the

:04:06.:04:13.

country. 5101, last page. 5! fall in inflation is a small win

:04:13.:04:17.

for those whose household income is still declining.

:04:17.:04:23.

Well, if you want to know what 2012 has in store, think of this week as

:04:23.:04:28.

crystal ball week - all right, it's a snow globe, but you get what I

:04:28.:04:32.

mean because this week is an important week for economic

:04:32.:04:35.

indicators. Today it's inflation. Tomorrow, unemployment statistics

:04:35.:04:38.

are out. We're going to be looking at what that means for the youth of

:04:38.:04:41.

the north-west. The day after that the important retail sale

:04:41.:04:45.

statistics out. What does all of this mean? How does it feed into

:04:45.:04:49.

High Street sales? We'll be chatting to a professor in

:04:49.:04:53.

Warrington with some really interesting scientific formulas for

:04:53.:04:55.

you to calculate how much you should spend on your Christmas

:04:55.:04:58.

gifts this year. Join us this week. Back to you.

:04:58.:05:07.

Sounds great. A pensioner who was hit by a

:05:07.:05:10.

concrete block thrown by one of a group of teenagers has called for

:05:10.:05:13.

harsher sentences for his attackers. The man's home was targetted by the

:05:13.:05:16.

gang on Halloween. Today, it emerged that one of them

:05:16.:05:19.

has been gloating about not being sent to jail for the attack on

:05:19.:05:22.

Facebook. It's led to calls in Parliament for him to reappear in

:05:22.:05:27.

court. Rachel Foley reports. Bernard O'Donnell needs both his

:05:27.:05:30.

stick and this rail to get up and down the stairs of his home, since

:05:30.:05:37.

he was hit with a concrete block in October. When the stone hit me, it

:05:37.:05:43.

bent my leg back. Now it really is excruciatingly painful.

:05:43.:05:47.

Hallowe'en a group of teens started throwing eggs at Bernard

:05:47.:05:52.

O'Donnell's house. When he stepped outside to investigate, one threw

:05:52.:05:55.

this concrete slab at him. Yesterday, some of the gang that

:05:55.:05:57.

targeted his house appeared before Manchester magistrates. One of them,

:05:57.:06:00.

18-year-old Ryan Girdlestone, was ordered to do community service,

:06:00.:06:03.

given a curfew and told to wear a tag monitoring his movements for

:06:03.:06:05.

four months. After his court appearance, he laughed about his

:06:05.:06:09.

sentence on Facebook, posting "jus got off court wiv a 4 months tag

:06:09.:06:18.

hahahaha.". If they were supposed to be punishing these youths and if

:06:18.:06:23.

the punishment doesn't work, why bother giving the punishment in the

:06:23.:06:25.

first place? Clearly this did not work.

:06:25.:06:27.

Girdlestone's Facebook comments led to questions from Bernard

:06:27.:06:33.

O'Donnell's MP in the Commons today. What actions does the Justice

:06:33.:06:37.

Secretary intend to take against offenders who receive a community

:06:37.:06:41.

sentence instead of prison who then use the social media to boast they

:06:41.:06:46.

have got away with it, I am thinking of particular of comments

:06:46.:06:47.

posted on Facebook by Ryan Girdlestone.

:06:47.:06:49.

Girdlestone reportedly regrets making the Facebook comments, which

:06:49.:06:58.

he says he made because he was so relieved at not being sent to jail.

:06:58.:07:02.

Some news just coming in - armed police are surrounding a house in

:07:02.:07:05.

Preston where a man, who is thought to have access to guns, is refusing

:07:05.:07:15.
:07:15.:07:15.

to give himself up. The area around the property in a sheltered housing

:07:15.:07:18.

complex on Kingsfold Drive in Penwortham has been cordoned off.

:07:18.:07:21.

Police were called after members of the public became concerned about

:07:21.:07:26.

the man's behaviour. It's not thought that he has anyone else in

:07:26.:07:30.

the house with him. We'll have more on this story in our late bulletin

:07:30.:07:33.

A vicar has admitted conducting 31 sham marriages at two churches in

:07:33.:07:38.

Rochdale, Greater Manchester. A vicar has admitted conducting 31

:07:38.:07:41.

sham marriages in Greater Manchester. The Reverend Canon Dr

:07:41.:07:44.

John Magumba carried out the ceremonies to enable illegal

:07:44.:07:47.

immigrants to remain in the UK. The 58-year-old father of six also

:07:47.:07:49.

admitted theft after failing to declare income from weddings and

:07:49.:07:59.
:07:59.:08:04.

funerals. He will be sentenced next month. $WHITE

:08:04.:08:07.

A new painting thought to be by the elusive artist Banksy has appeared

:08:07.:08:10.

on a wall in Liverpool. The artwork which shows a biplane

:08:10.:08:13.

leaving a trail of smoke appeared in a car park just off Tithbebarn

:08:13.:08:16.

Street. Although it's not yet been officially been confirmed as a

:08:16.:08:19.

Banksy painting, the artist has posted pictures of it on his

:08:19.:08:22.

website. I'm not from Liverpool but I have seen his writing on the wall.

:08:22.:08:25.

If it is from Liverpool, I am glad he's come back. I am not sure about

:08:25.:08:28.

the loop-de-loop, but it's quite nice. Banksy keeps coming here, so

:08:28.:08:37.

we must be doing something right. Alison Kirk always dreamed of

:08:37.:08:40.

becoming a mum. But she's suffered severe kidney problems since the

:08:40.:08:43.

age of three, and doctors told her she'd probably never have children.

:08:43.:08:46.

But now Alison, from Wallasey in Wirral, has a new baby daughter,

:08:46.:08:50.

Gracie Mae. She's one of only a handful of women on dialysis in the

:08:50.:08:53.

world who've had a successful pregnancy. Andy Gill reports

:08:53.:08:58.

Alison Kirk and daughter Gracie Mae at hospital. She was born

:08:58.:09:03.

prematurely, but the fact she's here at all is a minor miracle.

:09:03.:09:07.

have just always wanted to be a mum, and now he's here it's the best

:09:07.:09:12.

thing ever. Alison's had kidney disease since she was three.

:09:12.:09:17.

Doctors said getting pregnant could put her life in danger. She had to

:09:17.:09:23.

go through dialysis six days a week during her pregnancy. It was proper

:09:23.:09:26.

scary thinking you could lose your girlfriend, you could lose your

:09:26.:09:31.

daughter. To be honest, it was terrifying. Between 2002 and 2008

:09:31.:09:37.

only 90 women on dialysis across the world got pregnant. Many lost

:09:37.:09:42.

their babies. Alison herself lost a son six months ago which makes

:09:42.:09:46.

Gracie Mae more special. I knew the risks that I could lose another

:09:46.:09:50.

child, but I wanted to go through with it because if I didn't, I'd

:09:50.:09:54.

never know. She was also at risk of having severe bleeding during the

:09:54.:09:57.

pregnancy, a problem separate from her kidney disease. Doctors from

:09:57.:10:01.

the Women's and the Royal Liverpool Hospitals worked together. To take

:10:01.:10:08.

it through to its end and, you know, to see her with her baby after all

:10:08.:10:12.

- and particularly after all she'd been through, even before she

:10:12.:10:17.

became pregnant, you just think, that's what we're here for. Alison

:10:17.:10:21.

had a kidney transplant when she was 12, but her body rejected it.

:10:21.:10:30.

She's now back on the transplant So restful!

:10:30.:10:36.

We wish them both well, of course. Both health in the future.

:10:36.:10:40.

The sight of solar panels on office buildings and homes has become

:10:40.:10:44.

common in the last couple of years. That's partly because the

:10:44.:10:47.

Government subsidised them with grants. Thousands of jobs in the

:10:47.:10:52.

industry could now go because of cuts.

:10:52.:10:56.

Protesters outside Chancellor George Osborne's office today said

:10:56.:11:00.

fewer people will invest because it will be harder to recoup their

:11:00.:11:03.

costs. This Cheshire-based company

:11:03.:11:09.

specialises in making and installing solar panels. Its

:11:09.:11:13.

business has blossomed over the last couple of years. Now we have

:11:13.:11:19.

over 70-plus employees. Of course, installing these things doesn't

:11:19.:11:23.

come cheap - and 10,000 for the average house. However, once

:11:23.:11:27.

they're up and running, you can earn money from them. Up until now,

:11:27.:11:31.

the Government has paid householders just over 43p for

:11:31.:11:36.

every kilowatt of electricity they generate. It's known as the feed-in

:11:36.:11:40.

tariff or FIT. For the average house, it's amounted to around

:11:40.:11:46.

1,200 a year, but as of today, that figure has come down to just

:11:46.:11:49.

21 per kilowatt. Solar panel companies say changes to the rules

:11:49.:11:52.

will also make it more difficult for people to qualify for these

:11:52.:11:57.

payments in future, even at the lower rate. They fear that could

:11:57.:12:01.

cause a fall in demand that could devastate their industry. We're

:12:01.:12:04.

39,000 people in this industry today, and we suspect there will

:12:04.:12:09.

probably be less than 4,000 this time next year. Save our solar!

:12:09.:12:13.

It's a message they took to the doorstep of the Chancellor George

:12:13.:12:16.

Osborne today with a demonstration outside his constituency offices.

:12:16.:12:21.

The Government says it accepts the changes will present challenges for

:12:21.:12:25.

some firms, but it points out set- up costs have fallen. FIT payments

:12:25.:12:35.
:12:35.:12:35.

had to be lowered accordingly to maintain the scheme's viability.

:12:35.:12:39.

Still to come: A campaign to honour a forgotten

:12:39.:12:43.

wartime hero gathers some big-name support.

:12:43.:12:48.

And who dares wins - we meet Cumbria's own Blue Peter presenter

:12:48.:12:58.
:12:58.:13:00.

preparing to battle the elements for charity. After an impressive

:13:00.:13:02.

performance at the last Olympics,400 metre runner Andrew

:13:02.:13:05.

Steele was looking forward to a bright future. But the last four

:13:05.:13:07.

years haven't gone to plan. Andrew from Manchester has suffered a

:13:07.:13:11.

series of setbacks which have left him short of form and money. In the

:13:11.:13:14.

latest of his series with our Olympians, Steve Parry has been

:13:14.:13:24.
:13:24.:13:26.

talking to Andrew about the harsh world of top level sport.

:13:26.:13:30.

# So you're looking for a miracle # To make something happen #

:13:30.:13:34.

This is a very good run indeed from Andrew Steele who goes into the

:13:34.:13:37.

lead. The last Olympics were supposed to

:13:37.:13:41.

be the start of a successful career for Andrew Steele. I was very much

:13:41.:13:44.

thinking, that's just the steppingstone, the start to better

:13:44.:13:49.

things in the future. Instead, he's barely raced since - a hernia, a

:13:49.:13:53.

groin injury, then worst of all, a debilitating illness which

:13:53.:13:57.

destroyed a year's worth of training. I got diagnosed right at

:13:57.:14:00.

the start of the season. That basically has hampered me right

:14:00.:14:04.

through to the height of this year's season as well. Have you got

:14:04.:14:09.

a lot of support in order to get you across these tough times?

:14:09.:14:14.

Unfortunately, no. It's - as we know, the nature of sport is very

:14:14.:14:18.

brutal. It's cut-throat really. UK Sport has stood by me for a number

:14:19.:14:23.

of year, but now I am left ten months before the Games - I have

:14:23.:14:28.

had all of my support taken away. I am just trying to find a way to

:14:28.:14:32.

live. He wants to highlight the darker side of top-level sport.

:14:32.:14:35.

People have this strange image of athletes in their heads of - oh,

:14:35.:14:39.

yeah, they're fine. It's glamorous. You travel the world. You train

:14:39.:14:43.

somewhere warm, then you compete, and all the cameras are flashing.

:14:43.:14:46.

The reality is not that. I am just here in rainy Manchester grinding

:14:46.:14:51.

out the training and barely getting by. How much do you think it

:14:51.:14:55.

actually costs? I broke it down including training camps and travel

:14:55.:15:01.

to competitions and so on, I'm looking at around 16,000-18,000

:15:01.:15:05.

per year. Luck may have given up on Andrew in the past few years, but

:15:05.:15:11.

he's not giving up. It has been four years since I have been able

:15:11.:15:16.

to get a full winter's training, and with all of my trials and

:15:16.:15:20.

tribulations, I was still up in the top six or seven of the country.

:15:20.:15:30.
:15:30.:15:30.

That's the goal. Let's get a medal He has a lot of mental strength.

:15:30.:15:37.

Darren Fletcher is to taken Ince -- extended break from this team due

:15:37.:15:40.

to medical reason is. He has been suffering from a

:15:40.:15:44.

chronic inflammatory bowel condition. Steward, do we know what

:15:44.:15:52.

this illnesses? Yes, it is very similar to Crohn's disease. It

:15:52.:15:56.

affects one in every 1,000 people. Symptoms can be diarrhea, fever,

:15:56.:16:01.

severe abdominal pain, so it is not hard to understand why top-level

:16:01.:16:06.

sports men would struggle with this. How long will he be out for?

:16:06.:16:10.

We do not know. He is taking an extended break, but this is an

:16:10.:16:15.

illness which is not like a twisted ankle, where he takes three weeks

:16:15.:16:19.

off. It could be a substantial length of time. Manchester United

:16:19.:16:22.

says he has been putting this often trying to continue for the sake of

:16:22.:16:28.

his career, but the matter has to be dealt with now. We do not know

:16:28.:16:35.

when he will be bad. The title race is getting exciting.

:16:35.:16:38.

Manchester City suffered their first Premier League defeat of the

:16:38.:16:44.

season at Stamford Bridge a lank black -- last night. The city had a

:16:44.:16:53.

second-minute lead, but then Chelsea levelled. Frank Lampard

:16:53.:16:57.

struck a late penalty. Roberto Mancini's side stayed two points

:16:57.:17:00.

clear at a top. It has been described as one of the

:17:00.:17:07.

most daring and courageous and operations in the war. Operation

:17:07.:17:11.

Frankton attempted to paddle canoes into Bordeaux harbour to destroy

:17:12.:17:15.

German she eats. It has emerged that one of those

:17:15.:17:21.

men was a milkman from Stockport. James Conway was selected for the

:17:21.:17:25.

mission that must have seemed impossible. A campaign has now been

:17:25.:17:29.

started to make sure he is never forgotten.

:17:29.:17:34.

1942, Britain could be on the brink of losing the war. 12 Marine

:17:34.:17:37.

commandos were taken to the west coast of France to take their way -

:17:37.:17:42.

- make their way down the Gironde estuary. Their aim is to take down

:17:42.:17:46.

German ships in the Bordeaux harbour. James Conway, a milkman

:17:46.:17:49.

from Stockport, was one of the 10 who died. He was tortured and

:17:50.:17:54.

executed by the gestapo. Winston Churchill said their mission for

:17:54.:18:00.

the -- brought the end of the war forward by six and months.

:18:00.:18:05.

His Edgeley home has been knocked down, but campaigners say he

:18:05.:18:08.

deserves a permanent monument. Everywhere should have someone of

:18:08.:18:12.

his calibre to look up to. If the young people of Stockport could

:18:12.:18:17.

display the sort of courage and dedication that he did, it would be

:18:17.:18:22.

a marvellous things. His name is among hundreds in Stockport's war

:18:22.:18:25.

memorial hall. The council is an agreement that a more fitting

:18:25.:18:30.

tribute is needed. I am a lad from Stockport myself, and you think

:18:30.:18:33.

that someone could be that brave, we should remember that in

:18:33.:18:38.

Stockport. And another famous former marine who is writing a book

:18:38.:18:43.

on the he rose has lent his support. It is important that a nation like

:18:43.:18:46.

ours has a sense of its history and pride, and that is one of the most

:18:46.:18:51.

remarkable and courageous raids of the Second World War. Pupils from

:18:51.:18:55.

schools and colleges will be invited to design his memorial, and

:18:55.:18:59.

to think about the sacrifice of the man who left his milk round in

:18:59.:19:05.

Stockport and was -- in Stockport 70 years ago.

:19:05.:19:09.

Incredible story. From one remarkable story to

:19:09.:19:14.

another one. Someone who has kayaked along the Amazon, she has

walked a high wire along Battersea Power Station for charity. Now

:19:19.:19:21.

Helen Skelton from Cumbria is attempting to become the first

:19:21.:19:30.

person to use a bicycle to get to the South Pole.

:19:30.:19:35.

It is for Sport Relief, and she begins the raid on New Year's Day,

:19:35.:19:39.

facing winds and blizzards and temperatures as low as -50. It is

:19:39.:19:45.

going to be tough. We asked her how she was the wing.

:19:45.:19:48.

-- feeling for. It is going to be an exciting

:19:48.:19:52.

adventure. Very few people have been to the South Pole. But because

:19:52.:19:57.

this is so alien, I have got to think about what is involved, and

:19:57.:20:01.

they want to cry. We remember you canoeing on the

:20:01.:20:04.

Amazon, which was a similar endurance challenge. But it was

:20:04.:20:09.

different, with the weather and temperatures. That was about the

:20:09.:20:12.

endurance, and I had to cover a certain amount of miles per day.

:20:12.:20:17.

This is the same, I have to cover a certain distance and a certain time,

:20:17.:20:21.

but there is also the elements to consider. There could be wind of up

:20:21.:20:27.

to 100 miles an hour. If I make a mistake and get tired, I could get

:20:27.:20:32.

frostbite and lose a finger. Loads of people saw you, you had

:20:32.:20:39.

blisters last time. It was agony. How did your mother feel about it?

:20:39.:20:44.

I only tell them little bits. My dad is really chilled out, and they

:20:44.:20:51.

probably say things than in my back. -- behind my back. My mum and dad

:20:51.:20:58.

know why I do it. I have met so many people from Sport Relief who

:20:58.:21:03.

are facing worse things than I am. Tell us a bit about the project in

:21:03.:21:11.

Blackpool. It is all about people who need help. One of the girls I

:21:11.:21:15.

met was not going to school like she should be, she was drinking,

:21:15.:21:20.

and she got involved with the Sport Relief project. She is now doing

:21:20.:21:24.

exams, she is going out on the streets and chatting to other young

:21:24.:21:29.

people saying, do not sit on a street corner and drink cider until

:21:29.:21:33.

you fall asleep, come down to the project and do some crafts and

:21:33.:21:38.

charity work. Let's do other things. I have been lucky, the projects I

:21:38.:21:46.

have visited, I've been able to see them change in front of my eyes.

:21:46.:21:50.

She is good, isn't she? She is doing it all for charity.

:21:50.:21:54.

She is very brave. We're going to try to link up with

:21:54.:21:57.

her in the middle of January from the South Pole.

:21:57.:22:00.

Fingers crossed! If that has inspired you to get

:22:00.:22:06.

involved in Sport Relief, why not log-on and signed up. It is in

:22:06.:22:10.

March next year. There are 12 days to Christmas.

:22:10.:22:14.

Can't wait! The panto season is well and truly

:22:14.:22:19.

here. Oh no, it's not!

:22:19.:22:22.

For one group, it could not come soon enough.

:22:22.:22:26.

They have been gearing up for 11 months, ready to put on a show,

:22:26.:22:30.

Beauty And The Beast. In the first of the series, Elaine Dunkley has

:22:30.:22:34.

been finding out what it takes to add a little magic to the festive

:22:34.:22:38.

season. Custard pie throwing can only mean

:22:38.:22:43.

one thing, but for one group of volunteers it is punter season all-

:22:43.:22:49.

year-round. Paul Brownsell and Glynn Adams, also known as

:22:49.:22:55.

Wythenshawe's answer to the Chuckle brothers have been working all year.

:22:55.:23:01.

Sometimes you think that is funny, but nothing. But other things, they

:23:01.:23:06.

seemed very trivial, but they go mad for it. Like pulling a face.

:23:06.:23:11.

You have to adapt on the stage. The group has been going for a

:23:11.:23:14.

living years, and they perform to thousands of children at the

:23:14.:23:18.

Wythenshawe Forum. Very different from the small church hall it

:23:18.:23:26.

started. We were so close to them, and we miss that in a way. People

:23:26.:23:31.

are further away now. It was great. The applause in the room was

:23:31.:23:37.

deafening. They probably thought we were better than we were! This area

:23:37.:23:41.

was once described as broken Britain, but this group want to

:23:41.:23:45.

show there is a strong sense of community. While juggling jobs and

:23:45.:23:51.

family life, the team put in hours of rehearsal every week. It is

:23:51.:23:54.

rewarding seeing the children having such a good time, but your

:23:54.:23:57.

family and friends come and you have a laugh and you feel like a

:23:57.:24:05.

celebrity, and people tell you they have seen you on stage. It is not

:24:05.:24:09.

just on stage that the cast are feeling the pressure. The budget

:24:09.:24:12.

for the performances tight, and most of the work is done by

:24:12.:24:19.

volunteers. Hazel has hand made dozens of costumes, and is still

:24:19.:24:25.

nowhere near finished. There is Material everywhere, all over the

:24:25.:24:33.

house. It takes over your life. You meet, and sleep pantomime. We will

:24:33.:24:37.

join the pantomime team tomorrow to find out how they came together at

:24:37.:24:44.

to help had cast member dealing with devastating news.

:24:44.:24:52.

Do you want to do you seen? -- you part?

:24:52.:24:58.

People pull me aside and shopping centres and say, you're the evil

:24:58.:25:01.

witch, but I've never been a map pantomime!

:25:01.:25:11.
:25:11.:25:15.

The weather map, it's behind you! It has been a difficult day, with

:25:15.:25:22.

high winds and high waves on the sea. We're not out of the woods yet,

:25:22.:25:27.

in terms of the wind. You can see on the map, we have an amber

:25:27.:25:33.

triangle, this is for parts of Cumbria. Snow will continue to fall,

:25:33.:25:40.

but for most of us it has not bothered many of us. Many places

:25:40.:25:45.

have been dry, but in Cumbria 10 centimetres is possible on the

:25:45.:25:50.

hills. You will notice gale-force winds on the map as well. We could

:25:50.:26:00.
:26:00.:26:06.

see winds of 70 miles an hour. Most of us will see wind of 50 mph. With

:26:06.:26:10.

the been largely dry tonight, and clear whether, be could be down to

:26:10.:26:15.

one Celsius. If the ground is damp, and the roads remain untreated, we

:26:15.:26:25.
:26:25.:26:31.

will have AC surfaces. -- AC icy. Tomorrow the winds will still be

:26:31.:26:36.

gusty, with good spells of sunshine. Ignore the wintry showers, which

:26:36.:26:41.

will not trouble us. For most places it will be dry. A shower of

:26:41.:26:46.

rain or sleet from time to time, and parts of Cumbria could have a

:26:46.:26:50.

wintry shower from time to time. Winds are not quite as strong as

:26:50.:26:55.

today, but the temperatures are not great. The best we can expect is

:26:55.:27:00.

five or six. It will feel colder than that.

:27:00.:27:07.

Oh no, it won't! We should have a pantomime.

:27:07.:27:17.

I will not be an ugly Sister! Before we go, can we say well done

:27:17.:27:20.

to Altrincham Synchronised Ice Skating team. They have just

:27:20.:27:25.

competed in the world championships, and the Adolf team won gold, the

:27:25.:27:33.
