Good evening. Welcome to North West tonight. | :00:07. | :00:11.
Accused of grooming under-age girls for sex. The trial begins of a gang | :00:11. | :00:15.
of men from Rochdale. Eleven men deny the charges. All | :00:15. | :00:19.
the victims were from broken homes or in care. | :00:19. | :00:24.
Jailed for having a fake driving licence. This asylum seeker | :00:24. | :00:27.
considers legal action after proving it was real. | :00:28. | :00:32.
Save our nurseries, parents protest as the Isle of Man Government | :00:32. | :00:38.
threatens to axe childcare. More than a happy end, the author | :00:38. | :00:48.

who cheated death to finish her debut novel. | :00:49. | :00:58.
We talk to the star of South Pa civic -- Pacific and why Liverpool | :00:58. | :01:08.

"No child should be exploited as these girls say they were". The | :01:20. | :01:23.
words of a prosecutor as the trial began in Liverpool of 11 men | :01:23. | :01:25.
charged with sexually exploiting and trafficking schoolgirls. The | :01:25. | :01:28.
group are said to have plied the youngsters with drink and drugs | :01:28. | :01:31.
before abusing them and passing them on to their friends. It's said | :01:31. | :01:35.
to have happened mainly in Rochdale and Oldham over a number of years. | :01:35. | :01:37.
The men all deny the charges against them. Our chief reporter, | :01:37. | :01:40.
Dave Guest, joins us from Liverpool Crown Court. When the prosecutor | :01:40. | :01:44.
made her opening remarks to the jury in court here, she said it was | :01:44. | :01:49.
a case of very young, vulnerable children being exploited by a group | :01:49. | :01:54.
of adult men. She said that sometimes these girls were given | :01:54. | :01:58.
alcohol, food and money in return for sex. Sometimes they were | :01:58. | :02:02.
subjected to violence to make them comply. In the dock are a total of | :02:02. | :02:06.
eleven men. We have got some pictures of them arriving at court | :02:06. | :02:12.
today. All of the defendants are of Asian heritage, their ages range | :02:12. | :02:16.
between 22 and 59 and the men are connected with one another in a | :02:16. | :02:21.
variety of ways. They face a total of 22 counts including sexual | :02:21. | :02:25.
assault, rape and trafficking. They are said to have passed girls | :02:25. | :02:28.
between themselves and passed them on to their friends and associates. | :02:28. | :02:34.
They deny the charges against them. How is it said that they met the | :02:34. | :02:39.
girls in the first place? Well, of course, we can't name the | :02:39. | :02:43.
alleged victims in the case because they are under-age. But five girls | :02:43. | :02:47.
were named in the charges. Their ages at the time range between 13 | :02:47. | :02:51.
and 15. For instance, of the girls was said to have fallen in with | :02:51. | :02:56.
these men when she fell out with her parents and another girl was in | :02:56. | :03:00.
care of the local authority. The prosecutor said these were classic | :03:00. | :03:04.
cases that were easy to target and exploit. One of the girls, a 13- | :03:04. | :03:08.
year-old, is said to have had an abortion before being made pregnant | :03:09. | :03:15.
by one of the defendants. They met the men through a couple of take | :03:15. | :03:18.
takeaway shops in Rochdale. It was said in court, these were the | :03:19. | :03:22.
places where the girls were softened up with offers of free | :03:22. | :03:26.
food and drink before things turned more sinister. | :03:26. | :03:29.
A large number of defendants on trial here. A sizable group of | :03:29. | :03:33.
victims too. One assumes the case will go on for sometime? | :03:33. | :03:36.
That's right, yes. If you think about it, there are eleven people | :03:36. | :03:41.
in the dock. They have got defence barristers hol want to cross -- who | :03:41. | :03:43.
will want to cross-examine the witnesses who are being called in | :03:43. | :03:48.
this case. Tomorrow, we are due to hear from one of the alleged | :03:49. | :03:55.
victims who has made many hours of video recordings to give her | :03:55. | :04:00.
testimony. The case is expected to last many weeks. | :04:00. | :04:04.
A boy is one of two teenagers in custody after a man was seriously | :04:04. | :04:07.
assaulted and left in a critical condition. This is after an | :04:08. | :04:12.
argument with a group of mouths in mercy -- -- youths in Merseyside. | :04:12. | :04:17.
Residents have spoken about their horror of the attack which took | :04:17. | :04:21.
place last night and they say more needs to be done to make the | :04:21. | :04:24.
streets safer. This street in Rockferry would have | :04:24. | :04:29.
been well lit lit just after 8pm last night as the victim named | :04:29. | :04:33.
locally as George Craddock, bought food before running into a group of | :04:33. | :04:39.
youths. It is thought that George Craddock approached the group. The | :04:39. | :04:42.
conversation is thought to have escalated into an argument. It is | :04:42. | :04:46.
at that point that another adult has become involved and thrown just | :04:46. | :04:52.
one punch that sent George Craddock to the ground. He was taken to | :04:52. | :04:56.
Arrowe Park Hospital before being transferred to the Walton Centre | :04:56. | :05:02.
for specialist surgery. George cad dock is well-known -- Craddock is | :05:02. | :05:06.
well-known in the area. Neighbours are confused as to why and how he | :05:06. | :05:10.
found himself in trouble. Harmless. He wouldn't go out to | :05:10. | :05:17.
pick a fight with anybody. If he got caught names, he would try and | :05:17. | :05:20.
avoid confrontation. Some neighbours say, they aren't | :05:20. | :05:23.
surprised this happened on the streets of Rockferry, where they | :05:23. | :05:28.
don't feel safe. You can't be safe around here. It | :05:28. | :05:30.
is horrible. REPORTER: Why is it? I don't know. | :05:30. | :05:34.
All you see is gangs of kids and all these people getting injured. | :05:34. | :05:38.
They get drunk and they start on anyone for anything. They are just | :05:38. | :05:43.
looking for trouble every night. A 13-year-old and an 18-year-old | :05:43. | :05:49.
man remain in custody. Police say on a street as busy as this, there | :05:49. | :05:54.
must be more witnesses to come forward. | :05:54. | :05:57.
An asylum seeker who spent four months in Strangeways Prison, | :05:57. | :05:59.
wrongly accused of having a fake driving licence says he is | :05:59. | :06:03.
considering legal action. Syed Mansoor, who lives in the Rusholme | :06:03. | :06:05.
area of Manchester, but is originally from Pakistan, was | :06:05. | :06:08.
arrested by traffic police who thought his document must be fake | :06:08. | :06:12.
because his photo was in colour. He has described the experience as | :06:12. | :06:22.
:06:22. | :06:22. | ||
"hell" and says his health has suffered as a result. Ian Haslam | :06:22. | :06:26.
reports. Syed Mansoor has been in Manchester for four months, four of | :06:26. | :06:29.
those spent in prison for a crime he didn't commit. | :06:29. | :06:34.
It is horrible. I can't sleep, OK, because it was my first time in the | :06:34. | :06:40.
jail when I have been in the jail, OK. About four daysI was very, very | :06:40. | :06:46.
upsetpm. It started on 4th October last year. A car he was a passenger | :06:47. | :06:52.
in was double parked, when traffic officers approached and asked for | :06:52. | :06:55.
ID, he produced his provisional licence. | :06:55. | :07:03.
I showed them my ID. I showed my national insurance number. If my | :07:03. | :07:09.
licence is fake, why do I show my provisional licence? Police | :07:09. | :07:12.
contacted the DVLA who are responsible for maintaining a | :07:12. | :07:15.
database. The Crown Prosecution Service says a decision was made to | :07:15. | :07:19.
charge the defendant with possession of a false identity | :07:19. | :07:22.
document with improper intent on the evidence available at the time. | :07:22. | :07:26.
The case was kept under review by the CPS and on month, 30th January | :07:27. | :07:32.
2012, we received confirmation from the DVLA that the driving licence | :07:32. | :07:37.
was in fact genuine. The police could have checked out his version | :07:37. | :07:42.
of events, his story and if they did, they would have found out | :07:42. | :07:48.
quickly that the provisional driving licence was legitimate. | :07:48. | :07:52.
The DVLA told us the correct information was provided to Greater | :07:52. | :07:54.
Manchester Police as soon as it was requested. Greater Manchester | :07:54. | :08:00.
Police say they are reviewing the circumstances around Syed's arrest | :08:00. | :08:06.
and charge. A public inquiry is being called | :08:06. | :08:12.
for after damning report on adult social services at Wirral Council. | :08:12. | :08:16.
The authority's new leader says it is the only way to restore trust in | :08:16. | :08:19.
the council. Councillors met last night to discuss how they can move | :08:19. | :08:21.
forward after a review into allegations of abuse in social care. | :08:21. | :08:24.
It was brought to light by the whistleblower Martin Morton who | :08:24. | :08:29.
lost his job as a result. I know the Prime Minister has shown | :08:29. | :08:33.
an interest. I know that ministers in London are showing an interest | :08:33. | :08:37.
in terms of the Local Government ministers, and also social services | :08:37. | :08:41.
ministers. We will be speaking to them to see if we can get a public | :08:42. | :08:44.
inquiry. Salford City Council have announced | :08:44. | :08:48.
that 360 jobs will be lost in the next year with the council needing | :08:48. | :08:51.
to save 24 million. It's in addition to the 40 million of | :08:51. | :08:54.
savings that were made last year and will lead to an inevitable | :08:54. | :09:01.
reduction in services across the city. | :09:01. | :09:05.
A man has died after being injured when a heavy goods tyre exploded at | :09:05. | :09:15.
:09:15. | :09:17. | ||
a Lancashire industrial unit. The incident happened in Preston. | :09:18. | :09:21.
A man has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter and robbery | :09:21. | :09:23.
of an Oldham grandmother. Nellie Geraghty died in November. She was | :09:23. | :09:26.
injured when her handbag, containing the ashes of her late | :09:26. | :09:29.
husband Frank, was stolen as she walked to a luncheon club. 37-year- | :09:29. | :09:32.
old Mark Royle, of no fixed address, was today remanded in custody and | :09:32. | :09:35.
will appear at Crown Court in Manchester next month. | :09:35. | :09:38.
The Tasmanian Government has agreed to pay for the repatriation of a | :09:38. | :09:42.
Lancashire girl currently in a coma on the island. Holly Raper fell off | :09:42. | :09:45.
a quad bike in December, but her holiday insurance won't pay any | :09:45. | :09:49.
expenses because she didn't have cover for extreme sports. Holly is | :09:49. | :09:51.
entitled to a worker's compensation scheme because she was employed at | :09:52. | :09:58.
the time of the accident. A High Court judge has ruled that | :09:58. | :10:01.
Ryan Giggs can now be named as the man behind an injunction which | :10:01. | :10:05.
prevented the details of an extra- marital affair being published. He | :10:05. | :10:08.
took out the legal order last year to block reporting of an alleged | :10:08. | :10:12.
affair with Imogen Thomas. Thousands of people broke the order | :10:12. | :10:18.
by naming him on Twitter. It has been announced this morning | :10:18. | :10:21.
that Sir Elton John will be the first artist to perform on | :10:21. | :10:24.
Blackpool's newly restored Tower Headland. The concert will take | :10:24. | :10:28.
place in mid June. The last time Sir Elton played in Blackpool was | :10:28. | :10:37.
30 years ago. Tickets go on sale later this month. | :10:37. | :10:40.
Any parent will tell you that a lack of childcare where you live | :10:40. | :10:43.
can mean the difference between working and having to stay at home | :10:43. | :10:46.
so when mums and dads on the Isle of Man were told 11 Government | :10:46. | :10:51.
funded pre-schools were closing down, it prompted big protests. | :10:51. | :10:54.
They were out in force today clearly angry that their service is | :10:54. | :10:57.
being cut as part of the Manx Government's drive to make 35 | :10:57. | :11:01.
million of savings this year. Ministers say they have to go in | :11:01. | :11:10.
order to save other services. Kelly Foran has more. Keeping children | :11:10. | :11:13.
entertained over half term, but many parents had a day out with a | :11:13. | :11:17.
difference today, protesting outside Government offices against | :11:17. | :11:23.
the harsh cuts to free pre-school. The education of our children is | :11:23. | :11:27.
right. It is not the Third World. It is the Isle of Man. | :11:27. | :11:30.
These are the children that are going to be sorting out the mess we | :11:30. | :11:34.
have got the economy into. It is not fair on them to be denied the | :11:34. | :11:37.
chance to develop normally. As well as the hundreds of children | :11:37. | :11:41.
affected, jobs will be lost. reaction of the staff was just to | :11:41. | :11:46.
break down in tears. Not for themselves either, but for the | :11:46. | :11:50.
people who depend on their service. To say the time has come to cut | :11:50. | :11:52.
services and we're going to start with nurseries and libraries is | :11:53. | :11:58.
something people are not going to wear. This is just one of many | :11:58. | :12:02.
difficult decisions the mansion mansion had to make. | :12:02. | :12:07.
D Manx Government had to make. If we don't take hard decisions now, | :12:07. | :12:12.
we will have to take even worse decisions later on if we don't | :12:12. | :12:16.
start addressing how many people work for Government, how we provide | :12:16. | :12:20.
services. Time is ticking before September, | :12:20. | :12:23.
when these mums want their toddlers to start in education. | :12:23. | :12:27.
We hope to come up with a scheme that will give them some access | :12:27. | :12:32.
into private or voluntary provision. The department policy for many | :12:32. | :12:37.
years has been, we will open additional places as and when | :12:37. | :12:45.
additional places allow. In the Still to come on North West | :12:45. | :12:50.
Tonight: It is pancake tossing as you have | :12:50. | :12:57.
never seen it before! Join me to show you how it should be done. | :12:57. | :13:07.
:13:07. | :13:11. | ||
Hi, I am Samantha Womack and join We will have your tips that you | :13:11. | :13:15.
have been telling us on Facebook. It seems unlikely that Carlos Tevez | :13:15. | :13:18.
will feature in Manchester City's Europa League match against Porto | :13:18. | :13:20.
tomorrow night with Roberto Mancini refusing to comment on the | :13:20. | :13:29.
Argentine today. Midfielder Samir Nasri says apologies need to be | :13:29. | :13:37.
made to help the club win trophies. If he has to apologise, he has to | :13:37. | :13:40.
do it and then he will be in the squad. We need a player of his | :13:40. | :13:48.
quality to win the league and to win the Europa League. | :13:48. | :13:50.
UEFA have announced they have opened disciplinary proceedings | :13:50. | :13:52.
against Porto for the "improper conduct" of its supporters during | :13:52. | :13:58.
the Europa League match against Manchester City last week. City | :13:58. | :14:01.
complained that Mario Balotelli and Yaya Toure had suffered racial | :14:01. | :14:08.
abuse from the crowd. In Rugby Union, Sale Sharks have | :14:08. | :14:10.
confirmed that their owner, Brian Kennedy, has made "tentative | :14:10. | :14:12.
enquiries" about buying Glasgow Rangers. The Scotsman was | :14:12. | :14:15.
previously linked with a takeover bid for Hibernian FC in 1998. | :14:15. | :14:18.
Rangers went into administration last week facing debts of up to 75 | :14:18. | :14:25.
million. I have never written a book, but it | :14:25. | :14:28.
takes drive, determination and talent to get a book published and | :14:28. | :14:30.
particularly at just 29-years-old, but Alexandra Singer's story is | :14:30. | :14:35.
nothing short of inspiring. Just months after she started writing | :14:35. | :14:37.
her novel, she almost died from a nerve condition called cerebral | :14:37. | :14:43.
lupus. Alexandra spent the next three months in a coma and the next | :14:43. | :14:47.
two years in hospital. When she first woke up she had no memory of | :14:48. | :14:51.
her book and to finish it, she had to teach herself to write all over | :14:51. | :15:01.
:15:01. | :15:03. | ||
again. Laura Yates has been to meet The light was diminishing. Most | :15:03. | :15:08.
writers would describe their book as a labour of love, but for | :15:08. | :15:13.
Alexandra that doesn't come close. A trainee solicitor, she loved to | :15:13. | :15:17.
travel and it was a trip to Morocco that inspired her book. She had | :15:17. | :15:21.
sketched out its story and just begun to write it when she suffered | :15:21. | :15:27.
an attack of cerebral lupus and spent the next three months in a | :15:27. | :15:34.
coma. I was in a lot of pain and I was on | :15:34. | :15:37.
so much medication. I came around. It may have been two months after I | :15:37. | :15:43.
came out of a coma when I asked my family if I had been writing a book | :15:43. | :15:50.
and at the time I didn't know if I had dreamt it or imagined it. | :15:50. | :15:55.
was Alexandra's brother who found her manuscript and her family | :15:55. | :15:59.
persuaded her her to start writing again. | :15:59. | :16:04.
At that time I was weak. I was still having medical procedures. I | :16:04. | :16:07.
was bed bound and my arms still weren't working and it was about | :16:07. | :16:14.
forcing my hands to write again. Every day in hospital, alongside | :16:14. | :16:16.
intensive physiotherapy, Alexandra set herself another target, to | :16:16. | :16:19.
write a certain number of words a day. | :16:19. | :16:24.
Creating this world and getting my fingers working again actually, | :16:24. | :16:28.
when I did, you know, despair because I was in hospital for two | :16:28. | :16:35.
years and I had a reason to get up and write and when I got three- | :16:35. | :16:38.
quarters of the way through, I thought, "There is no way I can | :16:38. | :16:43.
leave this. I have got to finish it." | :16:43. | :16:48.
In just a few weeks, the book will be on the the shelves. Alexandra is | :16:48. | :16:58.
:16:58. | :16:59. | ||
That's amazing. It could be one for a few book | :16:59. | :17:04.
clubs. I hope she does really well with it. | :17:04. | :17:07.
He made his name as an actor in My Beautiful Laundrette and as a | :17:07. | :17:12.
writer with East is East, both successful films. Now Ayub Khan Din, | :17:12. | :17:16.
from Salford, has transformed one of the hit films of the 60s. All in | :17:16. | :17:19.
Good Time is his take on The Family Way. Both are set in Bolton, both | :17:19. | :17:24.
tell the story of newlyweds forced to live with the groom's parents. | :17:24. | :17:26.
Plenty of scope for drama there! So what's changed? Stuart Flinders | :17:26. | :17:36.
reports. It is a story about a couple finding it hard to let's say | :17:36. | :17:41.
consummate the marriage with the groom's family around. | :17:41. | :17:50.
As long as they are happy. Ayub Khan-Din's stage version was a | :17:50. | :17:54.
success worldwide. This is a promotion for the stage show. | :17:54. | :17:58.
Now there is a film version. Both were filmed in Bolton. | :17:58. | :18:04.
OK, Jeff, take it away. And don't keep me waiting. | :18:04. | :18:08.
Two films made 50 years apart, what do they tell us about the way towns | :18:08. | :18:12.
like this have changed and the way they have remained the the same? | :18:12. | :18:16.
Many of the buildings survived, but a working class family is almost as | :18:16. | :18:21.
likely these days to be Asian as height. They are superficial things. | :18:21. | :18:25.
Underlying that, there is family systems that might be there. They | :18:25. | :18:32.
might be more fragmented and complicated, getting on with your | :18:32. | :18:38.
parents, your in-laws, those things don't change. They feature in the | :18:38. | :18:43.
soaps we watch. Suppose Jenny comes down, it is not | :18:43. | :18:49.
nice a young girl seeing the hairs on a man's chest at breakfast. | :18:49. | :18:53.
The original story was by Bill Naughton, author of Alfie and it | :18:53. | :18:56.
reflects a bond with the community he wrote about. | :18:56. | :19:01.
It is a feeling of kind of deepest empathy and relationship and all | :19:01. | :19:10.
the rest of it. I have only to see the word "Bolton "I don't want to | :19:10. | :19:15.
say too much about it. All In Good Time opens in cinemas | :19:15. | :19:25.
:19:25. | :19:34. | ||
There are universal scenes in Family Life, I think. | :19:34. | :19:44.
:19:44. | :19:44. | ||
It is 20 years since me and my my wife lived with my parents. | :19:44. | :19:47.
We're more used to seeing her crying her way through the gritty | :19:47. | :19:50.
storylines of EastEnders, but tonight Samantha Womack will be in | :19:50. | :19:53.
cheerier mode as the musical hit South Pacific opens in Liverpool. | :19:54. | :19:56.
Yes, the actress has swapped the Eastend for the North West, | :19:56. | :19:59.
reprising the role of Nellie Forbush that won her rave reviews | :19:59. | :20:03.
when it opened in London last year. But as Kate Simms has been finding | :20:03. | :20:06.
out, her debut in Liverpool is giving her more than the usual | :20:06. | :20:16.
:20:16. | :20:17. | ||
You have to admit it is a lot more inviting than Albert Square, but | :20:17. | :20:20.
Samantha Womack has been enjoying the change of scenery. | :20:20. | :20:24.
I have really, really enjoyed it. It is a tough world because you | :20:24. | :20:34.
have got your eight shows a week. It is a lovely show to do. | :20:34. | :20:39.
# # I am going to wash that man out of my hair hb. This production | :20:39. | :20:42.
opened in London last year and it is on tour and opens in Liverpool | :20:43. | :20:47.
tonight. Far from her Cambridgeshire home, Womack knows | :20:47. | :20:53.
the city well. She met her husband here while | :20:53. | :20:58.
filming the drama, Liverpool One. My husband is from here, my kids | :20:58. | :21:04.
are from here. I have got loads of friends and in-laws and so yeah, it | :21:04. | :21:05.
feels like a home away from home really. | :21:06. | :21:11.
That link and two weeks off with a chest infection left her feeling | :21:11. | :21:13.
the pressure tonight. This is my first time back. Not | :21:13. | :21:18.
only is it going to be in a place where I want to be great, but my | :21:18. | :21:23.
middle voice is husky at the moment so I have no idea what is going to | :21:23. | :21:27.
come out. If I sound terrible, please forgive me! | :21:27. | :21:36.
Don't cry. What about Albert Square. Womack | :21:36. | :21:41.
played Ronnie Mitchell for seven years. Has she washed her out of | :21:41. | :21:45.
her hair? I have lots of fond memories and of the character. I | :21:45. | :21:49.
played a character for four years. I have never done that in my life | :21:49. | :21:53.
before. You heard her, never say never. | :21:53. | :22:03.
:22:03. | :22:06. | ||
South Pacific is at the Liverpool Now today is Shrove Tuesday or | :22:06. | :22:15.
Pancake Day. Many of you will be rushing home to mix up your batter | :22:15. | :22:18.
and then scrape your pancakes off the ceiling if, like me, you get a | :22:18. | :22:23.
little too enthusiastic! Today, Rochdale's celebrity chef Andrew | :22:23. | :22:26.
Nutter came to the BBC canteen to share a few tips on flipping the | :22:26. | :22:32.
perfect pancake. Although there were a few casualties along the | :22:33. | :22:37.
way! It was all in aid of Sport Relief as Abbie Jones explains. | :22:37. | :22:41.
Lunch time in the BBC canteen. The batter is sizzling and the | :22:42. | :22:47.
customers are hungry. Pancake is one of my favourite food. | :22:47. | :22:52.
I'm classy. I am a traditionalist, lemon and sugar, but today I might | :22:52. | :22:58.
go for maple syrup. That will be Andrew Nutter. Time | :22:58. | :23:08.
:23:08. | :23:18. | ||
You need a non stick pan. A nice hot pan. A small amount of oil and | :23:18. | :23:23.
get a nice even colouring on one side and then quick flipping after | :23:23. | :23:25.
that. BBC staff seem to be traditional | :23:25. | :23:31.
when it comes to their pancake fillings, but Andrew has given his | :23:31. | :23:37.
a gourmet twist. We have chocolate fudge brownie and | :23:37. | :23:43.
lemon meringue cheesecake. Look at the calories. It is only | :23:43. | :23:51.
once a year. Go crazy. Andrew is hoping to get people | :23:51. | :23:57.
ready for Relief. A whole mile flipping pancakes. | :23:57. | :24:01.
is clear Andrew needs to get practise in! | :24:01. | :24:11.
:24:11. | :24:13. | ||
She is a hard task master. She was bossing him around earlier. The | :24:13. | :24:17.
pancakes were lovely. I had one. I noticed you had two! | :24:17. | :24:24.
But it was all in aid of charity! If you need to run the Sport Relief | :24:24. | :24:33.
Mile, you can find out how to do it I hope it is not raining pancakes | :24:33. | :24:38.
in your household tonight. There is rain on the way. Some serious rain | :24:38. | :24:40.
actually. The weather is not playing along. | :24:40. | :24:46.
It is going to be wet. There is remarkable temperatures today. The | :24:46. | :24:50.
cloud cover broke more than we anticipate and there was less rain | :24:50. | :24:54.
rain than we anticipated. Temp Temperatures got up to 11 Celsius. | :24:54. | :24:57.
If you saw 20 minutes of sunshine, it makes a massive difference. | :24:57. | :25:01.
However, this is our picture right now, but had is nothing compared to | :25:01. | :25:05.
what is coming towards us. The Met Office have a yellow warning of | :25:05. | :25:11.
rain. This rain is going to be very, very heavy for Cumbria and | :25:11. | :25:16.
Lancashire. All the way through tomorrow as well. This is our | :25:16. | :25:20.
picture. It is largely cloudy. A couple of breaks in the southern | :25:20. | :25:24.
parts of the region. The story is for the clouds to continue to build | :25:24. | :25:28.
and for the rain to push into Cumbria. Into the Isle of Man and | :25:29. | :25:33.
Lancashire as well. Anywhere to the south is dry tonight. Because you | :25:33. | :25:36.
have got the cloud cover and we have got the south-westerly breeze, | :25:36. | :25:41.
it is mild, indeed. Temperatures 7 Celsius to 9 Celsius through the | :25:41. | :25:45.
night tonight. You could expect that at the day times at this time | :25:45. | :25:49.
of year. That is a mild night, but it is all about that line of rain | :25:49. | :25:53.
as it rises over the high ground and on the Isle of Man and into | :25:53. | :25:57.
parts of Lancashire as well. It will just keep on coming and there | :25:57. | :26:01.
will be a lot of rain through the day tomorrow. The sun is up 14 | :26:01. | :26:06.
minutes past 7am tomorrow. You will You will not see sight of it | :26:06. | :26:12.
because look at this rain. It will linger and for Cumbria, there could | :26:12. | :26:16.
be up to 80 millimetres of rain falling. For Lancashire, there | :26:16. | :26:19.
could be 60 millimetres and we could add to the totals. You can | :26:19. | :26:23.
see it keeps on coming through the day. Wherever you are, it maybe | :26:23. | :26:29.
around 5pm before it starts to clear in places like the Isle of | :26:29. | :26:34.
Man, but that's a horrible, wet day. The wind will be strong as well, | :26:34. | :26:37.
gusting to gale force from time to time. You have got that to contend | :26:37. | :26:40.
with and because there is a south- westerly, Lancashire and Cumbria | :26:40. | :26:44.
will see the worst of the win, but look at the temperatures, they are | :26:44. | :26:54.
:26:54. | :26:58. | ||
Now, you looked scornful when I said I put pancakes under the grill. | :26:58. | :27:03.
I outed myself on Facebook. Lots of people got in touch to tell me how | :27:03. | :27:13.
we should properly do it. Two viewers buy ready-made batter | :27:13. | :27:20.
from the shops. Angela gets her husband do them. | :27:20. | :27:25.
Top tips for tossing pancakes, josh says dangle a third off the edge of | :27:25. | :27:31. |
