The region goes on flood alert again as a month's worth of rain's | :00:52. | :00:54.
predicted in 24 hours. Dale Cregan appears in court | :00:54. | :01:01.
charged with the murders of two Greater Manchester Police officers. | :01:01. | :01:04.
Between 11 o'clock this morning and 11 tomorrow the North West is set | :01:04. | :01:08.
to be hit by a month's worth of rain. Tonight, for the third time | :01:08. | :01:11.
this year, many places in the region are steeling themselves for | :01:11. | :01:14.
flooding. In a moment, we'll be going to one place already hit, but | :01:14. | :01:17.
first let's have a look at the situation around the region. There | :01:17. | :01:20.
is one flood warning in and around Ellesmere Port down through Stoak, | :01:20. | :01:23.
Picton and Mickle where flooding's expected in the next few hours and | :01:23. | :01:25.
immediate action's required. But there are 36 flood alerts where | :01:25. | :01:28.
flooding's possible and they're urging people to be prepared. | :01:28. | :01:30.
Levels on many rivers, lakes and tributaries are rising because of | :01:30. | :01:33.
persistent rain which is forecast to continue throughout the evening | :01:33. | :01:39.
and tomorrow. Problems could get worse in the next 24 hours. | :01:39. | :01:42.
There's been widespread travel disruption. Train services in the | :01:42. | :01:45.
disruption. Train services in the region have been badly affected. | :01:45. | :01:48.
Merseyrail services to and from Chester and Ellesmere Port are the | :01:48. | :01:50.
worst affected. Trains are suspended between Rock Ferry and | :01:50. | :01:53.
Chester and Ellesmere Port. There are no trains between Wigan | :01:53. | :01:59.
Wallgate and Southport and Kirkby. There are no trains from Blackburn | :01:59. | :02:02.
to Clitheroe. Services between Liverpool Lime Street, Crewe and | :02:02. | :02:05.
London are also severely affected. Colin Sykes is at one of the worst | :02:05. | :02:15.
:02:15. | :02:22. | ||
affected areas in Great Sutton just This is where we have the flood | :02:22. | :02:26.
warning for the region. This book are behind me is normally about 2 | :02:26. | :02:32.
ft deep, it has been 72 deep at some times today. We have had four | :02:32. | :02:38.
inches of rain since yesterday. If you look over here on the road to | :02:38. | :02:43.
the water has spilled out from the Brook,, over the grass, flooded the | :02:43. | :02:49.
road, and cars can get three but it has been causing problems. We spoke | :02:49. | :02:53.
to some local people. The water rises very quickly when you get | :02:53. | :03:00.
very heavy rain like today. It has been non-stop. It can rise within | :03:00. | :03:07.
an hour, it to a point when you start getting worried. Today, it is | :03:07. | :03:12.
about 7 ft deep. We only live a couple of feet away from that | :03:12. | :03:16.
quarter. In the past we have had a water within about half-an-inch of | :03:16. | :03:23.
coming into the house. The pavings collapsed round the porch and I'm | :03:23. | :03:26.
worried it is seeping into the foundations. Whenever we get a | :03:27. | :03:30.
heavy rainfall, once a year, it is all to do with a grid not being | :03:30. | :03:38.
maintained, basically. They have been numerous problems in | :03:38. | :03:44.
this area. About an hour ago we were in a location where the road | :03:44. | :03:47.
was flooded and the police had to help a woman from her car. There | :03:47. | :03:52.
have been problems at the Canal in St Helens were the canal has burst | :03:52. | :03:57.
its banks. I have a representative from the Environment Agency. How | :03:57. | :04:01.
difficult has it been? It has been difficult. Most parts of the north- | :04:01. | :04:05.
west are experiencing persistent rain, the Environment Agency has | :04:05. | :04:09.
issued 36 flood alert and one flood warning. The Environment Agency has | :04:09. | :04:13.
mobilised its operational field teams to keep rivers free of | :04:13. | :04:17.
blockages, operate flood defences and monitor river levels. The big | :04:17. | :04:24.
question is with all these alerts next 24 hours? We are anticipating | :04:24. | :04:29.
more rain later on tonight and into tomorrow morning, really important | :04:29. | :04:35.
people remain tuned to local broadcasts, avoid a necessary | :04:35. | :04:40.
travel and the Environment Agency website is a wealth of information. | :04:40. | :04:44.
The advice for people is keep checking that. Absolutely. Keep | :04:44. | :04:48.
tuned into local radio and TV weather broadcasts, the Environment | :04:48. | :04:53.
Agency website has got lots of information on how to stay safe and | :04:53. | :04:57.
information about what the weather is doing in people's localities. | :04:57. | :05:00.
Thank you very much. Just while we have been on air I have heard the | :05:00. | :05:06.
number of flood warnings has actually gone up to six. | :05:06. | :05:10.
As you heard from Mark there there will be more rain tonight. You can | :05:10. | :05:13.
get the latest on the late bulletin tonight. In the meantime you can | :05:14. | :05:22.
get up-to-the-minute information And we will have the forecast late | :05:22. | :05:32.
:05:32. | :05:34. | ||
in the programme. The man charged with murders of two | :05:34. | :05:36.
police officers in Tameside last Tuesday, has appeared before | :05:36. | :05:38.
Manchester Crown Court. Dale Cregan is charged with four murders, | :05:38. | :05:40.
including those of PC's Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes. | :05:40. | :05:43.
Dale Cregan appeared at Manchester Crown Court via videolink this | :05:43. | :05:46.
morning, and was remanded in custody, to next appear in court on | :05:46. | :05:49.
the 5th of November. The judge, unhappy at some of the reporting of | :05:49. | :05:52.
the case, ordered there be no further reporting of court | :05:52. | :05:59.
proceedings until the start of any future trial. It's now six days | :05:59. | :06:02.
since the deaths of WPCs Fiona Bone and PC Nicola Hughes in Mottram. | :06:02. | :06:05.
Yesterday prayers were said at the Church of St James the Great in | :06:06. | :06:08.
Hattersley, while a remembrance service of reflection took place at | :06:08. | :06:10.
St Michaels Church in Mottram. At Manchester City's Premier League | :06:11. | :06:13.
match at home to Arsenal, the officers were remembered with a | :06:13. | :06:16.
minute's applause prior to kick off. Today the Greater Manchester Police | :06:16. | :06:18.
Federation has announced plans to sell wristbands featuring the | :06:18. | :06:21.
collar numbers of the officers and the date they died, with proceeds | :06:21. | :06:27.
going to their families. Meanwhile a vigil organised by police for | :06:27. | :06:30.
officers and the public, will take place at the scene of the shootings | :06:30. | :06:40.
:06:40. | :06:42. | ||
You do often feel helpless so praying for the dead officers, for | :06:42. | :06:47.
their families, becomes your reaction, your expression of hope | :06:47. | :06:57.
:06:57. | :06:58. | ||
A 57-year-old man's been arrested on suspicion of murder after | :06:58. | :07:00.
another man was stabbed in Manchester. Radoslaw Waclawiak was | :07:00. | :07:04.
taken to hospital but died later from a fatal knife wound to the | :07:04. | :07:08.
chest. The family of 14-year-old killed in | :07:08. | :07:12.
a crash in Salford at the weekend have paid tribute to him. Cameron | :07:12. | :07:16.
Cash from Swinton was hit by a car on the East Lancs Road. A man was | :07:16. | :07:18.
questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving but later | :07:18. | :07:23.
released without charge. A consultation on major changes to | :07:23. | :07:27.
the fire service in Cheshire begins today. The Fire Authority needs to | :07:27. | :07:30.
save 5 million over the next four years. Plans being put forward | :07:30. | :07:33.
include some stations losing a fire engine and more on-call, rather | :07:33. | :07:40.
than full-time, staff. The brother and friend of a woman | :07:40. | :07:50.
:07:50. | :07:57. | ||
Are running a marathon every day Anthony Grainger died during a | :07:57. | :08:03.
police operation in the Cheshire village of Culcheth. Officers | :08:03. | :08:07.
believed he and two others in the vehicle were about to mount an | :08:07. | :08:11.
armed robbery. It all happened on this car park in Culcheth last | :08:11. | :08:21.
:08:21. | :08:25. | ||
March. A search of the car failed to find any weapons. Grainger's | :08:25. | :08:28.
family have been campaigning since then to have the officer who fired | :08:28. | :08:31.
the fatal shot charged with his murder. On Friday two men who'd | :08:31. | :08:35.
been in the car with Grainger and who were arrested at the scene and | :08:35. | :08:38.
a third who was picked up later were found not guilty of conspiracy | :08:38. | :08:44.
to rob by a jury in Manchester. Fantastic news. I knew it would | :08:44. | :08:48.
come to that because he wasn't doing anything wrong. But he did | :08:48. | :08:52.
have a criminal record and was in a stolen car at the time. He could | :08:52. | :08:55.
have bought it like that, we don't know and we will never know. Only | :08:55. | :09:01.
he will know that. Would you would ultimately? I would the police | :09:01. | :09:04.
officer charged with his murder. The verdict on Friday was an | :09:04. | :09:08.
important landmark for his family in the fight for justice. All I can | :09:08. | :09:12.
say is it will make us even more determined to pursue it to his | :09:12. | :09:17.
rival conclusions. The events that unfolded are being investigated by | :09:17. | :09:19.
the independent Police Complaints Commission. It has submitted its | :09:19. | :09:23.
initial findings to the Crown Prosecution Service and its final | :09:23. | :09:27.
report should be ready some time next month. It will be bent for the | :09:27. | :09:31.
CPS to decide whether there is sufficient evidence for any | :09:31. | :09:41.
:09:41. | :09:54. | ||
criminal charges to be laid against Thousands of jobs are under threat | :09:54. | :09:57.
tonight after the Wigan-based sports retailer JJB announced it's | :09:57. | :10:00.
gone into administration. The store has failed to find a buyer after | :10:00. | :10:02.
years of financial difficulty and up to 180 stores could close. | :10:02. | :10:06.
Elaine Dunkley has the details. This was once a giant on the high | :10:06. | :10:09.
street. But in these tough times even the mighty can fall. Thousands | :10:09. | :10:11.
of workers now have an uncertain future but today's news of | :10:11. | :10:14.
administration came as no surprise to retail analysts. I don't think | :10:14. | :10:17.
it is a surprise if anybody tells us they are struggling, but if | :10:17. | :10:19.
something occurs that I have been looking at the company over the | :10:19. | :10:23.
last few years, they are not particularly strong in their own | :10:23. | :10:26.
branded, brands they control themselves. That is where retailers | :10:26. | :10:32.
tend to make the margin. In the 1990s bands like East 17 helped | :10:32. | :10:35.
JJBs push the sports cas look to teenagers across the land. In 1990s | :10:35. | :10:38.
there were over 400 stores and the company was worth nearly 1 billion | :10:38. | :10:47.
on the stock market. Very sad. It is a very black day for the people | :10:47. | :10:51.
of Wigan. Dave Whelan opened the store in the 1970s and sold it in | :10:51. | :10:59.
2007 when he became too ill to take care of business. I will look at a | :10:59. | :11:03.
few of the stores, I know the ins and outs, and a few more people in | :11:03. | :11:07.
the sports industry will be looking and hopefully we will get a few of | :11:07. | :11:11.
the back in action. Things are no doubt gloomy on the | :11:11. | :11:14.
high street but a combination of tough competition and weak | :11:14. | :11:19.
management decisions has lead to administration. It is a great shock, | :11:19. | :11:23.
been around for ages, does all the brands, football shirts, it is | :11:23. | :11:28.
great, so it is. Where the economic situation in the country is going | :11:28. | :11:31.
it doesn't surprise me it all established brands are taking the | :11:31. | :11:37.
hit. Recession, hard to get money, shop. In a statement JJB said it | :11:37. | :11:39.
would continue to trade through all its retail outlets pending | :11:39. | :11:49.
completion of the sales and Vauxhall has closed its Ellesmere | :11:49. | :11:51.
Port car plant in Cheshire for the next week. The firm says it's | :11:51. | :11:54.
because of sluggish sales across Europe. All the workers will still | :11:54. | :11:57.
get paid but nothing will roll off the production lines. The company | :11:57. | :12:01.
and the unions say it's just a short-term problem. But with the | :12:01. | :12:03.
eurozone economy still in trouble, what does the long term hold for | :12:03. | :12:13.
Ellesmere Port? Driving rain outside, and only a | :12:13. | :12:17.
couple of hundred workers inside, carrying out maintenance on the | :12:17. | :12:22.
assembly line. Normally 2000 people work here. But falling car sales in | :12:22. | :12:26.
Europe have led Vauxhall to show at Ellesmere Port for a week to avoid | :12:26. | :12:31.
build-up of stock. Four fifths of cars made here are exported. The | :12:31. | :12:35.
company and the unions say the plant has a bright future in the | :12:35. | :12:40.
long term. Recently we were taken on as one of those who will build | :12:40. | :12:44.
the new generation Astra, that hasn't changed. We are looking | :12:44. | :12:49.
forward to shift working, and taking on a number of new members | :12:49. | :12:52.
for a union. The workers are getting paid this week, the company | :12:53. | :12:57.
can call on them for extra work in the future. The company and the | :12:57. | :13:01.
unions say this shutdown is a short-term issue. But one expert | :13:01. | :13:06.
says carmakers like Vauxhall may be facing trouble in the long term if | :13:06. | :13:11.
they -- if their sales are squeezed between upmarket brands like BMW, | :13:11. | :13:17.
and cheaper mass-produced cars from Asia. It is being squeezed in the | :13:17. | :13:22.
middle of the market by the German premium brands like BMW coming down | :13:22. | :13:28.
and the value brands like Haydn died coming up. It is a very | :13:28. | :13:32.
uncomfortable future for the brand. Upmarket Land Rover are doing well | :13:32. | :13:37.
at Halewood. A car parts maker in a them saying Europe is worried and | :13:37. | :13:40.
factories must look elsewhere for growth. We have dramatically | :13:41. | :13:46.
increased our exports, directly into Asia and indirectly as well. | :13:46. | :13:49.
If she is continuing to grow, currently, and long may that | :13:49. | :13:53.
continue. Vauxhall says they did build cars and wait for buyers, | :13:53. | :14:00.
they make them to order. Still to come on North West | :14:00. | :14:02.
Tonight: Tangerines tipped for the top, | :14:02. | :14:07.
could this be their big chance to head the championship? | :14:07. | :14:10.
And we've seen what the weather's caused today, but what's in store | :14:10. | :14:20.

More rain. The Liberal Democrat conference is | :14:26. | :14:28.
underway in Brighton, with announcements today on reviving the | :14:28. | :14:31.
economy. But what about the party's own fortunes in the North West? | :14:31. | :14:34.
Well, it's been a pretty miserable picture ever since the party | :14:34. | :14:36.
entered government two years ago. Our political editor Arif Ansari | :14:36. | :14:38.
has been analysing the Liberal Democrats' performance. | :14:38. | :14:42.
Well this map tells part of the story. Before the general election | :14:42. | :14:47.
the Liberal Democrats were running 11 of our 36 councils. But look at | :14:47. | :14:51.
it now, they are left running just two, Stockport and South Lakeland. | :14:51. | :14:54.
And that means loads of councillors have lost their seats. They had | :14:54. | :14:58.
about 400 when they entered government in 2010. But tough | :14:58. | :15:02.
decisions meant difficult times. Last year they lost more than 100 | :15:02. | :15:07.
councillors. And this year was almost as bad with the number again | :15:07. | :15:16.
falling to about 230. Locally the Liberal Democrats have suffered. We | :15:16. | :15:21.
saw in the local elections in 2011 the party been virtually decimated | :15:21. | :15:24.
in more or less every place where it stood. 2012, it was almost as | :15:25. | :15:28.
bad. What the Liberal Democrats will hope is that the local story | :15:28. | :15:31.
can make some sort of recovery for them, despite the national picture | :15:32. | :15:37.
but that is a real talent. So what about those MPs who are already | :15:37. | :15:39.
worrying about the next general election? The Lib Dems have six | :15:39. | :15:43.
seats in the region. But they are vulnerable. Even a small 3% swing | :15:43. | :15:46.
would see three of those seats, Manchester, Withington, Burnley and | :15:46. | :15:56.
:15:56. | :15:56. | ||
Cheadle changing hands. There is danger on both the local and | :15:56. | :16:04.
national fronts but good to see the swingometer in action. I spoke to | :16:04. | :16:08.
the Lib Dem president Tim Farron and asked how the party could | :16:08. | :16:14.
regain ground here? The obvious thing is to recognise | :16:14. | :16:19.
the main concern that effect most people, the economy, the ability to | :16:19. | :16:25.
pay the rent, pay the mortgage, to be able to afford to live, have | :16:25. | :16:30.
basic necessaries -- necessities and a few luxuries. If you have | :16:30. | :16:34.
lost your dog pit is a massive issue. Are you succeeding in | :16:34. | :16:39.
helping people on this incomes, in danger of losing their jobs, | :16:39. | :16:43.
cutting the public budget? There are many cuts and savings I find | :16:43. | :16:47.
pretty hard to swallow but you have got to ask yourself what another | :16:47. | :16:52.
party have made it any better? No. You would have lost control of a | :16:52. | :16:55.
number of councils in this part of the world, are you confident he can | :16:55. | :17:02.
win those back and get back in local government? South Lakeland | :17:02. | :17:05.
District Council has a bigger Liberal Democrat majority any year | :17:05. | :17:08.
ago, so don't read this as a pattern everywhere. They are | :17:08. | :17:12.
gaining seats in many parts of the north-west. Another part we have | :17:12. | :17:15.
lost seats and the reality is really good hard-working | :17:15. | :17:19.
councillors who did not deserve to lose, good Liberal Democrats, who | :17:19. | :17:22.
serve their communities, lost because of the national situation | :17:22. | :17:27.
and we have got to take the rap. The one area where they retain | :17:27. | :17:33.
trust is in our relationship with our community, people know we serve | :17:34. | :17:38.
them better than the other parties, we immerse ourselves in the places | :17:38. | :17:48.
:17:48. | :17:50. | ||
Well time for sport now and, Tony, we were all hoping that Sunday's | :17:50. | :17:52.
meeting between Liverpool and Manchester United would be a | :17:52. | :18:00.
fitting tribute to the 96 victims of the Hillsborough disaster. Yes, | :18:00. | :18:03.
bitter rivals for years, both clubs came together yesterday to mark | :18:03. | :18:06.
something far more important than any football match. As we can see | :18:06. | :18:09.
here, players from both sides wore tracksuits with 96 on the back. | :18:09. | :18:12.
Patrice Evra and Luis Suarez shook hands after their fallout in the | :18:12. | :18:15.
past. United legend Bobby Charlton presented Ian Rush with flowers for | :18:15. | :18:18.
the Hillsborough memorial and fans from both sides listened to their | :18:18. | :18:25.
managers and common sense and acted with dignity. The fans at Anfield a | :18:25. | :18:35.
:18:35. | :18:35. | ||
credit to their club but not everybody behaved. 99.9% did. A | :18:35. | :18:38.
couple took to put it to take issue with the referee who has made a | :18:38. | :18:41.
complete to the police. That shouldn't detract there from a day | :18:41. | :18:45.
that brought out the best from the vast majority of fans across the | :18:45. | :18:55.
:18:55. | :18:55. | ||
field and an enthralling 90 minutes on it. | :18:55. | :18:58.
Sir Alex Ferguson always understood the need for respect. But he was | :18:58. | :19:01.
never in doubt about the need for three points yesterday either. "Our | :19:01. | :19:04.
rivalry with Liverpool, he told his fans, is based on a determination | :19:04. | :19:08.
to come out on top." Jonjo Shelvey didn't help the home side with a | :19:08. | :19:11.
lunge on Jonny Evans. Ref Mark Halsey might have punished both | :19:11. | :19:14.
players but the red card was reserved for the Reds. As it was | :19:14. | :19:16.
Liverpool took the lead when skipper Steven Gerrard slotted home. | :19:16. | :19:19.
His celebration spoke volumes. He lost his cousin at Hillsborough. | :19:19. | :19:21.
United were level within five minutes as full-back Rafael | :19:21. | :19:23.
produced a Brazilian masterpiece. Despite being outnumbered Liverpool | :19:23. | :19:26.
dominated the second half, only for Glen Johnson's clumsiness with | :19:26. | :19:28.
Valencia giving the referee another chance to break the Kops hearts. | :19:28. | :19:35.
Robin Van Persie just about won it. Were United lucky? We were very | :19:35. | :19:42.
poor today. The post half, Liverpool dominated. In the second | :19:42. | :19:45.
half we were better statistics in terms of possession. | :19:45. | :19:53.
performance level right up until the 65, 70 minutes was outstanding. | :19:53. | :19:57.
The balance in the team. It's a result that puts United second and | :19:58. | :20:00.
Liverpool in the bottom three with their worst start for over 100 | :20:01. | :20:03.
years. No doubt Brendan Rodgers' tenure is a work in progress. But | :20:04. | :20:07.
for both of these historic clubs after a day of high drama and | :20:07. | :20:10.
emotion, thankfully, yesterday was job done. | :20:10. | :20:13.
Premier League champions Manchester City have been urged to improve by | :20:13. | :20:16.
manager Roberto Mancini after they let the lead slip in a 1-1 draw | :20:16. | :20:20.
with Arsenal. City have won just two of their five matches so far | :20:20. | :20:23.
and took the lead against the run of play shortly before half-time | :20:23. | :20:28.
through a Joleon Lescott header. But Arsenal battled back after the | :20:28. | :20:30.
break and equalised nine minutes from time when Lauent Koshellny | :20:30. | :20:40.
:20:40. | :20:41. | ||
beat Joe Hart. City haven't kept a clean sheet all season. | :20:41. | :20:44.
In the Championship, Blackpool could go top tonight if they beat | :20:44. | :20:49.
Huddersfield Town. The club's enjoying its best start to a season | :20:49. | :20:52.
for half a century. So, could it be on course for a repeat of that | :20:52. | :20:56.
historic promotion two years ago? Even the seagulls were grounded by | :20:56. | :21:00.
the weather in Blackpool today. But the football club's flying high. A | :21:00. | :21:06.
6-0 win over Ipswich last month made everybody take notice. And | :21:06. | :21:09.
though key players, Charlie Adam and DJ Campbell no longer feature | :21:09. | :21:14.
in this squad, there's new talent. Tom Ince is the club's top scorer. | :21:14. | :21:20.
Great to be playing football, given the opportunities I have been given, | :21:20. | :21:23.
and performances I have been put in on his great for me and benefited | :21:24. | :21:28.
back Paul as well. It is a team game and we have all been playing | :21:28. | :21:35.
well. The weather has deteriorated since Saturday's training session | :21:35. | :21:37.
but Blackpool haven't made heavy weather of their started the season. | :21:37. | :21:42.
The best start since the 1950s. The names Matthews and Mortensen may | :21:42. | :21:45.
not mean much to this generation of players, but the manager wants them | :21:45. | :21:51.
to look forward not back. Doesn't matter about years ago or what | :21:51. | :21:54.
happened in the past, that is all history. We want to make some use | :21:54. | :21:59.
and get a real good team and we are showing signs we are not bad and I | :21:59. | :22:04.
want to keep that going. Here's one bit of history the fans wouldn't | :22:04. | :22:07.
mind repeating, the club's sensational rise to the Premier | :22:07. | :22:11.
League in 2010. But how does that team compare with the current crop? | :22:11. | :22:16.
The Football they're playing now is unbelievable. Better than when they | :22:16. | :22:20.
were promoted. They are scoring plenty of goals, a little bit of a | :22:20. | :22:24.
lapse in defence on occasions. But the main thing is they are scoring | :22:24. | :22:28.
plenty goals. It will take more than heavy rain to keep these | :22:28. | :22:35.
players from being real challengers this season. I am not sure that was | :22:35. | :22:41.
the Seagull at the start. Wigan will play reigning champions | :22:41. | :22:44.
Leeds in Super League's play-off semi finals on Friday night after | :22:44. | :22:46.
choosing the Rhinos as their opposition in yesterday's Club Call | :22:46. | :22:50.
announcement. Shaun Wane's side could also have chosen Warrington | :22:50. | :22:54.
but the Wolves will now meet St Helens in the other semi final on | :22:54. | :22:57.
Saturday after they booked their place in the final four with a 24- | :22:57. | :23:00.
12 win over Hull FC at the weekend. Finally tonight, some sad news, | :23:00. | :23:03.
former Lancashire batsman Harry Pilling has died at the age of 69. | :23:03. | :23:06.
A stalwart from the county's great one day sides of the 1970's, he | :23:06. | :23:16.
:23:16. | :23:25. | ||
scored almost 20,000 runs in an 18- year-career. | :23:25. | :23:27.
They are obviously tough in Blackpool because the weather is | :23:28. | :23:37.
Probably by Wednesday he will get better. Good evening. It has been a | :23:37. | :23:41.
wet and windy start to the week, some wild weather around today. If | :23:41. | :23:44.
I show you to regard this is what has been happening this morning and | :23:44. | :23:51.
into the afternoon. Had the pulses of rain were the green flashes are | :23:51. | :23:54.
-- we have seen the heaviest rainfall causing a lot of | :23:54. | :24:01.
disruption. 50 mm of rain falls so far in Crosby, that is nearly two | :24:01. | :24:07.
inches of rain, and counting. There is plenty more rain yet to come. | :24:07. | :24:13.
Over the next 36 hours, Woody Billy Beck. As we have been on her I have | :24:13. | :24:17.
spoken to the Environment Agency and the flood warnings have gone up | :24:17. | :24:23.
from one to six flood warnings and we also have 36 flood alerts in | :24:23. | :24:28.
force tonight. That is changing all the time. The reason for the | :24:28. | :24:31.
horrendous weather is this, the steep area of low pressure. You can | :24:31. | :24:36.
see tonight will swivel to the other side of us, swivelling to the | :24:36. | :24:41.
west coast, so for tomorrow we will see some more rain from the habit | :24:41. | :24:46.
had fully by a Wednesday you can see that just easing. Just leaving | :24:46. | :24:49.
you with showers on Wednesday. Let's have a look at tonight. | :24:49. | :24:54.
Plenty more rain to come. We still have an amber warning in force from | :24:54. | :24:58.
the Met Office. This is the second highest level. Plenty more rain | :24:58. | :25:04.
still to come. This warning is valid until 6am tomorrow morning. | :25:04. | :25:09.
Let's have a look at the rate. You can see some heavy palsies still | :25:09. | :25:13.
coming in tonight. Particularly across Lancashire and Cumbria, the | :25:13. | :25:18.
rain just easing off. The wind is also picking up, possibly severe | :25:18. | :25:27.
gales. A lot of rain as well. Underneath, wet, windy and cloudy | :25:27. | :25:32.
skies, the temperatures will hold well above freezing. Tomorrow we | :25:33. | :25:39.
could see up to 80, and even 100 mm of rain fall on high ground. | :25:39. | :25:43.
Localised flooding could be an issue, continues tomorrow. The rain | :25:43. | :25:47.
continues to pile in, and the rain is falling on saturated ground. | :25:47. | :25:52.
Still some heavy pulses as we head into the afternoon. Hope fully the | :25:52. | :25:56.
wind eases attack. Another miserable day to come tomorrow. The | :25:56. | :26:00.
temperature similar to what we had for today. If you're worried about | :26:00. | :26:10.
:26:10. | :26:16. |
