Annabel Tiffin. Our top story.. Tributes to the couple who idolised | :00:11. | :00:13.
each other after they died in a plane crash near Chester. It was | :00:14. | :00:22.
absolutely `` he was absolutely devoted to her and she was devoted | :00:23. | :00:27.
to him. Also in the programme tonight... Setting up camp. | :00:28. | :00:30.
Anti`fracking protestors arrive in Salford. They warn more will follow. | :00:31. | :00:36.
Applause from the hundreds who stood in the rain to celebrate the life of | :00:37. | :00:43.
rugby league star Steve Prescott. Pub quiz question for you, what is | :00:44. | :00:48.
the biggest town in England not to have a train station? The Ansar and | :00:49. | :00:54.
whether or not it will get one, later in the programme. `` the | :00:55. | :01:00.
answer. And re`writing history. How two | :01:01. | :01:03.
schoolgirls spotted a material mistake on this Macclesfield mural. | :01:04. | :01:20.
Protestors opposed to fracking for shale gas have set up a camp outside | :01:21. | :01:24.
a site in Salford. The energy company iGas is due to start | :01:25. | :01:27.
drilling there in the next few weeks. The protestors say they are | :01:28. | :01:30.
expecting their numbers to grow over the next few days. Here's our | :01:31. | :01:33.
Environment Correspondent Judy Hobson. | :01:34. | :01:35.
It's cold and wet. But these protestors are determined to stay | :01:36. | :01:39.
put. Five of them set up camp this weekend They want to stop the | :01:40. | :01:42.
company iGas drilling to see what gas or oil lies underground. But | :01:43. | :01:47.
they fear it will eventually lead to fracking, the controversial process | :01:48. | :01:50.
of drilling for shale gas by putting water and chemicals into the ground. | :01:51. | :01:57.
You cannot see the drilling site from here. But from where the | :01:58. | :02:00.
protesters are, it is about 300 metres through those trees. | :02:01. | :02:04.
Throughout today, the protestors have been joined by local residents, | :02:05. | :02:08.
offering food and moral support People really care about this, | :02:09. | :02:12.
really feel disenfranchised, like the decision has been made without | :02:13. | :02:17.
them. They do not want it and are not being listened to. I know people | :02:18. | :02:21.
have quit their jobs, pitched up a tent, and ready to take this on We | :02:22. | :02:28.
are ready to stand with them as well. The protestors say they expect | :02:29. | :02:33.
more to join them over the next few days from all over the country. Some | :02:34. | :02:36.
supporters have come for the day from Wigan. I have five | :02:37. | :02:39.
grandchildren and I believe they deserve a nice environment to live | :02:40. | :02:43.
in when growing up. In a statement, iGas said... | :02:44. | :02:54.
The company hasn't said exactly when it intends to start drilling. But it | :02:55. | :03:07.
claims the process it uses is safe. A Merseyside pensioner who spent | :03:08. | :03:11.
five years on the run in Spain has been jailed for three years for | :03:12. | :03:14.
benefit fraud totalling ?120,00 . 70`year`old Norman Brennan from | :03:15. | :03:16.
Netherton was arrested on the Costa del Sol last month. He pleaded | :03:17. | :03:20.
guilty to council tax, jobseeker's allowance and housing benefit fraud | :03:21. | :03:26.
in 2008. Father and son loan sharks, who ran | :03:27. | :03:30.
an illegal gambling den with a fruit machine and TV screens from their | :03:31. | :03:33.
home in Preston, have been ordered to hand over ?300,000 to the courts. | :03:34. | :03:37.
75`year`old James Alston Senior was sentenced to 18 months in prison | :03:38. | :03:40.
while 46`year`old James Alston Junior was jailed for a year. | :03:41. | :03:44.
They'll face more time in prison unless they pay up. | :03:45. | :03:50.
Strictly Come Dancing star Sophie Ellis`Bextor says the thieves who | :03:51. | :03:52.
raided contestants' dressing rooms while the show was live on Saturday | :03:53. | :03:57.
night were opportunistic. Police are investigating the incident in which | :03:58. | :04:01.
a an iPad, phone and jewellery were stolen from an area used by female | :04:02. | :04:06.
competitors. The owner of an Isle of Man hotel, | :04:07. | :04:10.
which burnt down earlier this month, says it'll cost ?15 million to | :04:11. | :04:15.
repair. The accommodation blocks at the Mount Murray Hotel and Country | :04:16. | :04:22.
Club were destroyed. Albert Gubay, who made his fortune by creating the | :04:23. | :04:24.
Kwick Save supermarket chain, says half of his staff will now have to | :04:25. | :04:29.
be made redundant. Kelly Foran has been to meet him. | :04:30. | :04:32.
He's created multi million pound business. And owns one of the | :04:33. | :04:37.
biggest hotels on the island. But it's been destroyed. I would not | :04:38. | :04:43.
believe the collar. He said I had better come and see. I thought it | :04:44. | :04:50.
was a job. Us would not believe the caller. Eye with speechless. `` I | :04:51. | :05:01.
was speechless. Luckily, no one was injured, but that has cost many of | :05:02. | :05:08.
the staff their jobs. We will maybe need to make at least half of them | :05:09. | :05:13.
redundant, but they will be paid out whatever their entitlements are I | :05:14. | :05:17.
am just dory at this time of the year for this to happen. `` I am | :05:18. | :05:26.
just sorry. The rest of the hotel, including a gym and function rooms, | :05:27. | :05:29.
will re`open on Wednesday. But it will be up to two years before there | :05:30. | :05:33.
are any sleeping facilities. We will get a list of people booked, and we | :05:34. | :05:38.
will work with those groups to get them alternative accommodation if we | :05:39. | :05:40.
can. Enquiries and investigation into the cause of the fire are | :05:41. | :05:46.
continuing. Next tonight, "A devoted couple who | :05:47. | :05:54.
idolised each other". The families' tributes to a couple who died after | :05:55. | :05:58.
their light aircraft crashed near Chester Hawaden Airport on Friday. | :05:59. | :06:01.
Gary Vickers and his partner Kay Clarke were on their way back from a | :06:02. | :06:04.
trip to Europe. They had delayed their journey because of bad | :06:05. | :06:07.
weather. But their plane crashed the next day. Yunus Mulla has been | :06:08. | :06:10.
speaking to their families. Gary Vickers and his partner Kay | :06:11. | :06:13.
Clarke were together for several years, always said to be very much | :06:14. | :06:18.
in love. Today, Kay's mother described how the beer were | :06:19. | :06:21.
returning from a trip to Amsterdam through Paris. He was a gentleman, | :06:22. | :06:28.
Gary was an experienced pilot, and would not have considered taking Kay | :06:29. | :06:33.
out if they thought there was something wrong. She was absolutely | :06:34. | :06:36.
devoted to have and she was devoted to him. The light aircraft crashed | :06:37. | :06:43.
short of the runway near Chester Hawaden Airport. Unfortunately, | :06:44. | :06:49.
there was a loud squeal, which brought people out to see what was | :06:50. | :06:56.
going on saw the tragic accident. The plane veered over to the left, I | :06:57. | :07:02.
believe, and the prepare those `` the propellers fit, and that is when | :07:03. | :07:09.
he lost control. The 58`year`old man a businessman ran a local hotel with | :07:10. | :07:13.
his father and businessman. Both had flown together. We started flying | :07:14. | :07:21.
together. He went on to twin aircraft. He was very meticulous in | :07:22. | :07:26.
his flying. He knew how many leaders he wanted `` how many litres he | :07:27. | :07:35.
would need. This filming of landing was filmed many years ago and he had | :07:36. | :07:41.
many hours of flying. Any footage from an on`board camera will be some | :07:42. | :07:45.
of the evidence that a team from the air accident investigation bureau | :07:46. | :07:48.
will examine. The wreckage of the plane has now been taken away. A | :07:49. | :07:53.
full report to take some months We have had some messages saying that | :07:54. | :08:01.
it would not be Gary. He was all about safety. That was always | :08:02. | :08:13.
paramount. One of the more obvious signs of | :08:14. | :08:17.
China's emergence as a major economy in recent years has been the | :08:18. | :08:20.
appearance of thousands of Chinese students coming to study in the UK. | :08:21. | :08:24.
Most of them won't realise it. But in Liverpool at least, theirs is a | :08:25. | :08:27.
well` trodden path. Chinese sailors visited the city when Britain was | :08:28. | :08:31.
the centre of world trade. And many made their home there. Stuart | :08:32. | :08:35.
Flinders is in Liverpool's Chinatown, where they're recording | :08:36. | :08:38.
the stories of China's 20th century immigrants through | :08:39. | :08:44.
the stories of China's 20th century immigrants false `` immigrants. | :08:45. | :08:52.
Many generations have followed in the footsteps of the first | :08:53. | :08:56.
immigrants. Today, the city has been celebrating its Chinese history | :08:57. | :09:04.
When Britain was at the heart of an empire, the world came to Liverpool. | :09:05. | :09:08.
Ships headed in and out of the port to all corners of the globe. On | :09:09. | :09:11.
board, not just cargo, but seamen from far`away places. Many decided | :09:12. | :09:16.
to stay. My mum said they met at a dance. So she decides to stay here | :09:17. | :09:23.
after meeting a girl from Liverpool? He was a merchant seaman. When he | :09:24. | :09:29.
settled in England, the first jockey to was as a laundry man. `` the | :09:30. | :09:35.
first job he took. Today, a blue plaque was unveiled at the old | :09:36. | :09:38.
offices of the Blue Funnel Shipping Line. It employed many of the | :09:39. | :09:42.
Chinese sailors who stayed here It's now a Chinese restaurant. Many | :09:43. | :09:45.
Chinese were the unsung heroes of the convoys that supplied the Soviet | :09:46. | :09:50.
Union in the early years of the Second World War. There is a dark | :09:51. | :09:53.
side to this story. After the Second World War, in a crackdown on illegal | :09:54. | :09:57.
immigration, many of the Chinese sailors were deported, their | :09:58. | :10:04.
families divided. The consequences for families was their fathers | :10:05. | :10:08.
disappeared. They had families here in Liverpool. They had children here | :10:09. | :10:13.
in Liverpool. And the father disappeared. No Liverpool seems to | :10:14. | :10:18.
be full of Chinese students, lots of them with plenty of money, a | :10:19. | :10:22.
different kind of Chinese immigrants from your parents. Yes, because our | :10:23. | :10:30.
parents scraped through. What do they think of your story? They do | :10:31. | :10:36.
not understand it. The stories of those who came from China to make | :10:37. | :10:39.
their homes in Liverpool are being collected for an oral history. The | :10:40. | :10:43.
blue plaque a reminder of the city's colourful past. | :10:44. | :10:46.
That oral history Project is an effort to gather the stories, | :10:47. | :10:50.
particularly those that came here in the 1940s through to the 1960s, to | :10:51. | :10:54.
make sure that history is not lost to the city. | :10:55. | :11:00.
Thank you very much. Stuart Flinders live in Liverpool for us tonight. | :11:01. | :11:07.
Still to come on North West Tonight... Inspiring the next | :11:08. | :11:14.
generation. We meet the region's Unsung Sporting Hero or Heroes of | :11:15. | :11:18.
2013. All will be explained. And rewriting history. How two | :11:19. | :11:21.
schoolgirls spotted a material mistake on this Macclesfield mural. | :11:22. | :11:33.
OK. Back to the pub quiz question at the top of the programme. What's the | :11:34. | :11:39.
biggest town in the country not to have a train station? The answer? | :11:40. | :11:45.
Skelmersdale. Very good, how did you know? Of the top of my head! But | :11:46. | :11:50.
might it finally be about to get one? Here's Jayne McCubbin. | :11:51. | :11:52.
Driving around Skelmersdale can make you dizzy. No traffic rights, `` no | :11:53. | :11:59.
traffic lights, just roundabout after roundabout, after roundabout | :12:00. | :12:07.
and, after roundabout. Skelmersdale was a new town experiment raised | :12:08. | :12:10.
around the card. So much about the car, people are cut off from the | :12:11. | :12:15.
town centre by duel carriageways. No pedestrian crossing. Skem is cut off | :12:16. | :12:21.
from the rest of the world with no train station. Today, Lancashire | :12:22. | :12:26.
County Council said the town's entire transport system is not fit | :12:27. | :12:29.
for purpose. Everything has to change. Starting with a train | :12:30. | :12:36.
station. We believe that, economic generation, not just for the town, | :12:37. | :12:42.
but the whole area. This is the original railway station. In the | :12:43. | :12:49.
local library, they show me the original one, closed in the 195 s. | :12:50. | :12:54.
And then, talk on and off of reconnecting the town. Long overdue | :12:55. | :12:57.
says Darren Baker born and bred here. It's a disaster. Has it held | :12:58. | :13:03.
you back jobs wise? The doc about high`speed rail bringing jobs. `` | :13:04. | :13:10.
there is talk about. That could also bring business. But they have | :13:11. | :13:13.
gathered all before. Will promises finally be delivered? They have | :13:14. | :13:20.
talked about this for years. We can do this, but needless discussion. | :13:21. | :13:26.
What we actually need is action and some work. After that, we can do it. | :13:27. | :13:34.
So another master plan to save Skelmersdale. Public consultation | :13:35. | :13:38.
begins next month. With Network Rail supportive, the hope is to deliver | :13:39. | :13:45.
the train station by 2019. Sport now. And only one place to | :13:46. | :13:50.
start really, Richard. The funeral of the former St Helens rugby league | :13:51. | :13:54.
player Steve Prescott took place earlier today? | :13:55. | :13:59.
Yes, the great and the good of Rugby League turned up to pay their | :14:00. | :14:02.
respects to Steve. Along with of fans and members of the public. He | :14:03. | :14:07.
was an inspiration to lots of people. Diagnosed with cancer | :14:08. | :14:10.
himself, Steve went on to raise more than half a million pounds for | :14:11. | :14:14.
charity. And today he got the send off he deserved. | :14:15. | :14:20.
They had queued on the streets of St Helens for several hours. Giving | :14:21. | :14:26.
thanks for a man who never gave in. The church was full long before | :14:27. | :14:34.
Steve's wife and two sons arrived. His coffin was carried by friends | :14:35. | :14:38.
and former team`mates. No room inside even for some of rugby | :14:39. | :14:43.
league's biggest stars. He was such a great man, the least we could do | :14:44. | :14:48.
was pay our respects. Such a sad loss. I cannot put it into words. | :14:49. | :14:53.
Somehow, Steve's son Taylor found these words, and the strength, to | :14:54. | :14:57.
pay tribute to his dad. When I was five, and my dad got leukaemia, I | :14:58. | :15:05.
said I would follow my dream to be a sportsman. I hope I make him as | :15:06. | :15:12.
proud of me as he was of me. We will love him for ever, but will miss | :15:13. | :15:22.
him. `` as proud of me as I was of him. A talented rugby league player | :15:23. | :15:26.
for Saints. In retirement, Steve became a tireless fundraiser. Given | :15:27. | :15:30.
months to live with stomach cancer, he survived for seven years. Thanks | :15:31. | :15:33.
for 39 years of hope, love, inspiration. We will make sure, | :15:34. | :15:38.
mate, that your name will go on and on. And we will let everybody know | :15:39. | :15:43.
that you were truly one in a million. His coffin emerged to the | :15:44. | :15:53.
chimes of When The Saints Go Marching In. Every club recognised | :15:54. | :15:59.
Steve, not only as a rugby player, but a man, a true warrior. He left a | :16:00. | :16:08.
large impression on all of us and hope lay we can show some of the | :16:09. | :16:12.
courage he showed throughout his career on Saturday and bring home a | :16:13. | :16:15.
good win for the England team in memory of Steve. Further proof that | :16:16. | :16:21.
Steve Prescott retains the ability to inspire. | :16:22. | :16:33.
He was a great man, for sure. Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge | :16:34. | :16:36.
has been named in England's starting 11 to face Germany at Wembley | :16:37. | :16:40.
tomorrow. The striker missed the defeat against Chile on Friday with | :16:41. | :16:44.
a foot injury. But he will play for his country alongside his club | :16:45. | :16:46.
skipper Steven Gerrard, who'll be winning his 108th cap. It takes him | :16:47. | :16:50.
equal third in the all`time list, along with England's iconic World | :16:51. | :16:53.
Cup winning captain Bobby Moore I really humbled and flattered to get | :16:54. | :16:57.
108 caps, alongside Bobby Miller, but the most important thing is to | :16:58. | :17:01.
get the right result against Germany. `` Bobby Moore. Then I can | :17:02. | :17:10.
look back with pride. In League One, Preston North End | :17:11. | :17:14.
made a statement about their promotion credentials with victory | :17:15. | :17:16.
at Leyton Orient. Orient, top`of`the`table before kick`off, | :17:17. | :17:19.
had only lost once in the League all season. But North End outplayed the | :17:20. | :17:22.
London side for large parts of the match. And won it thanks to a | :17:23. | :17:27.
cracking strike from Joe Garner That's now four goals in the last | :17:28. | :17:30.
three games for the in`form striker. And in League Two, Accrington | :17:31. | :17:33.
Stanley are now out of the bottom two after an excellent 2`0 victory | :17:34. | :17:35.
at Scunthorpe. George Bowerman and Kayode Odejayi with the goals for | :17:36. | :17:39.
Stanley. Altrincham will have to replay their | :17:40. | :17:42.
FA Trophy match with Colwyn Bay after the game was abandoned with | :17:43. | :17:46.
just eight minutes to go. Very controversial. Altrincham were | :17:47. | :17:48.
leading 2`nil at Llanelian Road when the referee pulled a calf muscle. | :17:49. | :17:52.
The Colwyn Bay manager, former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair | :17:53. | :17:54.
refused to accept a substitute referee. | :17:55. | :18:00.
You may remember that we've been looking for this year's sporting | :18:01. | :18:04.
unsung hero in the North West, as we build up to the BBC Sports | :18:05. | :18:07.
Personality of the Year awards next month. And this time, it's gone to a | :18:08. | :18:11.
couple who've dedicated their lives to helping young basketball players | :18:12. | :18:14.
in the region. And on top of that, arguably the biggest name in British | :18:15. | :18:18.
basketball is their biggest fan You have got to be down here low, | :18:19. | :18:24.
ready to go. He is North West's basketball heart and soul. For well | :18:25. | :18:30.
over three decades, he has helped thousands of youngsters, often three | :18:31. | :18:37.
days a week. It is not a hardship. I enjoy doing it. Sport has great | :18:38. | :18:42.
value projects. With his wife, they were instrumental in setting up the | :18:43. | :18:47.
Greater Manchester basketball club in the late 1990s, now 1500 players | :18:48. | :18:54.
use the centre of each week, 50 going on to represent England and | :18:55. | :18:58.
his most famous prodigy went on to star in America's NBA. He is the | :18:59. | :19:06.
closest thing to a father figure I ever had, I wanted the nod of his | :19:07. | :19:15.
approval to drive me forward. They are the only two people who can take | :19:16. | :19:19.
any credit for my success in basketball. And they are quite | :19:20. | :19:23.
literally the only people who never take any credit. One of the young | :19:24. | :19:27.
players is also particularly grateful to the couple. They helped | :19:28. | :19:32.
him and his family through the sudden death of his eldest brother, | :19:33. | :19:38.
a promising player who was just 18, and were instrumental in his other | :19:39. | :19:42.
brother winning a scholarship in the states. The I cannot put it into | :19:43. | :19:50.
words, but they have helped does. I have a surprise, we have been here | :19:51. | :19:55.
to fill new and would like to present you and your wife with this | :19:56. | :19:58.
special award, the North West sports unsung hero award. You are joking? | :19:59. | :20:09.
No, you truly deserve it. And look who is presenting it! CHEERING. Well | :20:10. | :20:17.
and, for decades and decades and decades. Thank you. | :20:18. | :20:28.
They thoroughly deserved it as well. Everyone had nice things to | :20:29. | :20:35.
say. And a joint award for both But we did not see Maggie? | :20:36. | :20:41.
Unfortunately, Maggie was not well. And he did not want the limelight, | :20:42. | :20:48.
as part `` at one point running away from me. Nothing new there! Putting | :20:49. | :20:55.
in lots of time, sometimes seven days a week, all of the work. And we | :20:56. | :21:02.
find out the winner, on the big night. `year`old they win the | :21:03. | :21:13.
regional award. Win the regional award and go up against all the | :21:14. | :21:18.
other regional winners. And something else for you. It's for | :21:19. | :21:22.
FC United in their 3`0 victory against Frickley Athletic in the | :21:23. | :21:25.
Northern Premier League. Ten minutes after the break, Steven Gardner | :21:26. | :21:28.
scored with an extraordinary 50 yard lob into his own goal. Like David | :21:29. | :21:35.
Beckham, just in the wrong goal He will never scored a better one. | :21:36. | :21:40.
One of those moments that, as soon as it came off his boot, you | :21:41. | :21:45.
realised. And he was starting a moment ago | :21:46. | :21:53.
about unsung heroes. We are on the lookout for North West Tonight's | :21:54. | :21:56.
very own Christmas stars. And we need your help. We want to hear | :21:57. | :22:00.
about anyone who's gone out of their way to show kindness and generosity | :22:01. | :22:05.
of spirit to others. It can be in any way you think is suitable. Maybe | :22:06. | :22:08.
just a small act of kindness. Maybe something bigger. We have had lots | :22:09. | :22:14.
of your stories already. But drop us an e`mail. Or, if you don't have a | :22:15. | :22:19.
computer, ask someone who does to send it on your behalf. The e`mail | :22:20. | :22:25.
address is on screen now. Tell us who it is, what came that they have | :22:26. | :22:29.
done for you. And we'll make them one of our Christmas Stars of 2 13. | :22:30. | :22:34.
We have already had lots of really good entries, some great acts of | :22:35. | :22:40.
kindness. Thank you for that. They have had their fair share of | :22:41. | :22:45.
late arrivals on Macclesfield train stations, but 100 years late is | :22:46. | :22:51.
pushing it. A quick guide to the town was one century out when it | :22:52. | :22:55.
came to the most important date in Macclesfield's history. The mistake | :22:56. | :23:02.
was spotted by two schoolgirls. Now the council has held up its hands | :23:03. | :23:06.
and moved to put things right. Dave Guest reports. | :23:07. | :23:09.
There are certain dates in history that are etched into our minds. This | :23:10. | :23:23.
country is at war with Germany. Easy, but what about local history? | :23:24. | :23:29.
People of Macclesfield may know the town was built on the silk industry, | :23:30. | :23:33.
and even now the founding father of that industry was one Charles Roe, | :23:34. | :23:42.
but on which she did he build his first factory? No idea. 1860s | :23:43. | :23:52.
something. Well, one trip to Macclesfield train station should | :23:53. | :23:55.
set them on the right track. This council` commissioned timeline | :23:56. | :23:58.
guides travellers through the town's history. And there's Charles Roe, | :23:59. | :24:05.
who built his first mill in 184 ? That's actually a century out. Roe | :24:06. | :24:09.
was long dead by 1843. Schoolboy error to those in the know. But it | :24:10. | :24:14.
was two school girls who spotted it. We were just looking at the signs | :24:15. | :24:20.
and realised that was wrong. What did you do? We told our history | :24:21. | :24:31.
teacher. Why is he so important Clearly they'd been paying attention | :24:32. | :24:35.
in class at the King's School. I was so delighted be applied what they | :24:36. | :24:40.
have learned. The council, who commissioned the signs, held up | :24:41. | :24:43.
their hands and admitted the mistake. Replacing it entirely might | :24:44. | :24:48.
be expensive, so they have a cost`effective solution, adding the | :24:49. | :24:54.
word centenary. Because, 1843 was the centenary of him opening the | :24:55. | :25:03.
first silk mill. The history detectives. Well done to | :25:04. | :25:11.
them. A bit of an embarrassing. Easily rectified. Moving on to the | :25:12. | :25:18.
weather. It is going to be a cold one? | :25:19. | :25:23.
It is, winter is going to show its face, already some heavy showers | :25:24. | :25:31.
this week, continuing this evening and turning into wintry showers We | :25:32. | :25:35.
shall see a few this week. It will be bitterly cold with frost that | :25:36. | :25:41.
night. The changing conditions is courtesy of cold beer blasting from | :25:42. | :25:47.
the Arctic. Over the next 24`48 hours, very cold indeed stop not | :25:48. | :25:52.
particularly warm today, temperatures creeping eight or nine | :25:53. | :25:56.
Celsius. Tomorrow during the daytime, we will be lucky to see | :25:57. | :26:02.
highs of five Celsius. Into the end of the week, temperatures | :26:03. | :26:06.
recovering, but still only six or seven Celsius. Adding in the wind | :26:07. | :26:11.
chill, feeling much colder. Wintry showers crossing the Irish Sea | :26:12. | :26:15.
overnight tonight, rain, sleet and snow, over the Isle of Man and many | :26:16. | :26:22.
coastal areas. Any snow on high ground. A frosty and chilly night. | :26:23. | :26:26.
Temperatures in towns and cities as low as minus two Celsius. Tomorrow | :26:27. | :26:34.
morning, we wake up to a frosty start. Because the wintry showers | :26:35. | :26:39.
are falling on frozen surfaces, there could be some ice. Idea low | :26:40. | :26:45.
weather warning for this ties. Watch out for that one untreated roads on | :26:46. | :26:53.
pavements. `` warning for this ice. One or two wintry showers blowing in | :26:54. | :26:57.
tomorrow, Chris Gate, crisp sunshine, . `` crisp day. Adding on | :26:58. | :27:08.
the wind`chill, the temperatures will feel like 0 Celsius. Wrap up | :27:09. | :27:13.
very warm indeed. The very first icy start I should | :27:14. | :27:23.
mark the first. `` the first icy start? You no the first. | :27:24. | :27:29.
Just before we go, a big thank you to all of you who helped raise money | :27:30. | :27:33.
for the BBC's Children in Need appeal in a record breaking year. | :27:34. | :27:36.
The North West raised more money than any other region outside of | :27:37. | :27:39.
London. ?2.7 million of the national total of just over ?31 million came | :27:40. | :27:43.
from you. A huge thanks to everyone who donated as well. Have a great | :27:44. | :27:46.
evening. Thank you for watching Good night. Goodbye, wrap up warm. | :27:47. | :28:01.
