Louise, thank you. That's all from the BBC News at | :00:00. | :00:12.
Good evening. Welcome to North West Tonight with Roger Johnson and | :00:13. | :00:17.
Annabel Tiffin. Our top story.. Guilty of ill`treatment and neglect. | :00:18. | :00:20.
Three staff at a Lancaster care home left elderly residents traumatised | :00:21. | :00:22.
and humiliated. The residents in their 70s and 0s | :00:23. | :00:26.
were slapped and stamped on. We re live at court. | :00:27. | :00:27.
Also tonight... "I'll never understand how it | :00:28. | :00:34.
happened." A mother's anguish as an inquest hears how Millie died after | :00:35. | :00:36.
choking at nursery. Two Lancashire men accused of | :00:37. | :00:39.
endangering a passenger plane heading to Manchester are found not | :00:40. | :00:44.
guilty. It is a real cultural gem. Join me | :00:45. | :00:48.
in Liverpool to find out why the Central Library is the place to be. | :00:49. | :00:52.
And they know how it feels ` the couple helping the homeless who were | :00:53. | :00:54.
once destitute themselves. People were kind to us and helped | :00:55. | :00:58.
us, so we wanted to help our community. | :00:59. | :01:06.
Three women who ill`treated and neglected vulnerable elderly | :01:07. | :01:10.
residents at a Lancashire nursing home are tonight facing possible | :01:11. | :01:13.
jail sentences. Preston Crown Court heard that the | :01:14. | :01:16.
three carers humiliated residents at the Hillcroft nursing home at | :01:17. | :01:20.
Slyne`with`Hest near Lancaster. They had denied any wrongdoing, but | :01:21. | :01:23.
the jury didn't believe them and they were convicted of wilful | :01:24. | :01:28.
neglect. Our chief reporter, Dave Guest, is outside the court now | :01:29. | :01:35.
Who were these women and what did they do to the elderly people in | :01:36. | :01:41.
their care? As you say, three women convicted today. | :01:42. | :01:45.
Gemma Pearson is 28, Carol Ann Moore 54, and Katie Cairns is 27. These | :01:46. | :01:52.
were terrorist trusted to care for some of the most vulnerable elderly | :01:53. | :01:56.
people, those with advanced image. It was a trust they were to betray | :01:57. | :02:00.
cruelly, ill treating and humiliating the people they were | :02:01. | :02:05.
supposed to be looking after. They work at the Hillcroft nursing home | :02:06. | :02:10.
at Slyne`with`Hest. Carol Ann Moore was said to have slapped one patient | :02:11. | :02:15.
as a punishment. Katie Cairns was said to have stamped on another and | :02:16. | :02:19.
Gemma Pearson tipped one out of his chair because he would not stand up. | :02:20. | :02:23.
During the trial the court was told beanbags were often thrown at the | :02:24. | :02:26.
visit Santa Fe were humiliated and laughed at. Hume `` presumably the | :02:27. | :02:33.
perpetrators believed these people would not remember what was | :02:34. | :02:35.
happening to them. They came unstuck when a whistle`blower alerted the | :02:36. | :02:40.
Care Quality Commission. What was the reaction from the victims' | :02:41. | :02:45.
families and police? Naturally enough, people were | :02:46. | :02:48.
shocked to hear what had happened to the loved ones. Soon after the | :02:49. | :02:52.
verdict 's this afternoon a spokesman for the family said these | :02:53. | :02:55.
three women had betrayed the trust place it `` the trust placed in them | :02:56. | :03:01.
and had failed to provide dignity for their relatives. We hope that | :03:02. | :03:06.
the sentencing will reflect in the crimes committed against vulnerable | :03:07. | :03:09.
people who could not stand for themselves. | :03:10. | :03:12.
They are duties on the owners and management of Hillcroft, Lancashire | :03:13. | :03:17.
County Council adult services come NHS North Lancashire and the Care | :03:18. | :03:22.
Quality Commission. We feel there have been failings on the parts of | :03:23. | :03:30.
all of these. The three women showed a total disregard for their | :03:31. | :03:34.
well`being, displaying contemptible behaviour that should never be | :03:35. | :03:37.
tolerated. What happens to the women now? | :03:38. | :03:43.
They will be back in Preston in January to discover what your | :03:44. | :03:46.
punishment will be and also to be punished is Darren Smith, one of the | :03:47. | :03:51.
former colleagues at Hillcroft. He earlier admitted eight charges | :03:52. | :03:54.
against him come and relatives are concerned about whether authorities | :03:55. | :03:58.
did enough to act when the initial alarm was raised. There is currently | :03:59. | :04:06.
a review into that. The mother of a nine`month old baby | :04:07. | :04:10.
who died after choking on her lunch at nursery has told an inquest | :04:11. | :04:13.
she'll never understand how it happened. Millie Thompson was taken | :04:14. | :04:16.
ill at Ramillies Hall Nursery in Cheadle Hulme last year. | :04:17. | :04:19.
Today a jury heard that the first aid training of the nursery | :04:20. | :04:22.
supervisor who'd been feeding her had expired. Naomi Cornwell reports. | :04:23. | :04:25.
Millie Thompson was only on her third full day at Ramillies Hall | :04:26. | :04:31.
Nursery when she became ill. The inquest in Oldham heard that she had | :04:32. | :04:35.
settled in well at the school and had no special dietary needs. But | :04:36. | :04:38.
when Millie was being fed her lunch of mashed up shepherd's pie by a | :04:39. | :04:41.
nursery supervisor she suddenly started to choke and turn blue. | :04:42. | :04:49.
That supervisor, Alison Pope, told the court her first aid training had | :04:50. | :04:53.
expired, but a colleague with special paediatric first aid | :04:54. | :04:55.
training had done backslaps on Millie before the ambulance arrived. | :04:56. | :04:58.
Did you panic? Asked Mr Kenny, lawyer for the Thompson family. | :04:59. | :05:01.
We didn't have time to panic, she said. | :05:02. | :05:03.
I had never experienced anything like this before. | :05:04. | :05:07.
An ambulance arrived at the school ten minutes after being called, but | :05:08. | :05:10.
Millie was pronounced dead in Stepping Hill hospital less than an | :05:11. | :05:14.
hour later. The Coroner for South Manchester, John Pollard, today | :05:15. | :05:16.
praised the charitable work that Millie's parents, Joanne and David, | :05:17. | :05:19.
have since carried out with the North West Ambulance Service, | :05:20. | :05:25.
describing them as very generous. Giving evidence, her mother broke | :05:26. | :05:28.
down in tears as she described the 23rd of October last year, telling | :05:29. | :05:32.
the jury, "We thought she was safe that day. How she choked on mash, | :05:33. | :05:39.
we'll never understand." The inquest into Millie Thompson's | :05:40. | :05:41.
death is expected to continue into next week. | :05:42. | :05:50.
The bodies of two women have been found at a house on Merseyside. The | :05:51. | :05:56.
discovery was made at the property in Knowsley Village at around | :05:57. | :06:02.
midday. A 55`year`old man has been arrested. The scene has been | :06:03. | :06:05.
cordoned off and forensic teams are there. Let's join our reporter, | :06:06. | :06:07.
Yunus Mulla. What more can you tell us about what | :06:08. | :06:11.
Leith `` police believe may have happened? | :06:12. | :06:16.
The crime scene investigators are still here this evening. They spent | :06:17. | :06:20.
most of the afternoon there. What we know is that a man walked into a | :06:21. | :06:25.
police station earlier today. That led Merseyside Police to home farm | :06:26. | :06:31.
Road here in Knowsley Village. The emergency services were called, | :06:32. | :06:35.
including the air ambulance. When they arrived they discovered the | :06:36. | :06:42.
bodies of a 20`year`old woman and another woman, also believed to be | :06:43. | :06:47.
in her 50s. Clearly this has created a lot of shop here. This is what | :06:48. | :06:54.
neighbours had to say to me. My daughter came to the door and | :06:55. | :06:59.
said everyone is out in the road. We didn't hear anything until the air | :07:00. | :07:04.
ambulance dropped here. There has never been anything like that happen | :07:05. | :07:07.
in this area before. It is a shock, really. You could not | :07:08. | :07:13.
get in. We team up the main road and it was all blocked off. Clearly a | :07:14. | :07:19.
very shocking thing to happen in any community. | :07:20. | :07:21.
What do we know about the people who live there? | :07:22. | :07:26.
The two women are yet to be formally identified because not all next of | :07:27. | :07:31.
kin and `` have been informed. Some people have told me the two women | :07:32. | :07:36.
kept themselves to themselves but they have only been here for a few | :07:37. | :07:40.
years. A 55`year`old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and | :07:41. | :07:45.
remains in police custody this evening. House`to`house enquiries | :07:46. | :07:51.
here are also continuing. Thank you very much indeed. | :07:52. | :07:57.
A 21`year`old man from Salford who scrawled graffiti about the killers | :07:58. | :08:02.
of Fusilier Lee Rigby has been jailed for twelve weeks. Daniel | :08:03. | :08:05.
Smith was found guilty of two counts of criminal damage to the the RAF | :08:06. | :08:08.
Bomber Command War Memorial in London. Fusilier Rigby from | :08:09. | :08:11.
Middleton was stabbed to death outside Woolwich Barracks earlier | :08:12. | :08:13.
this year. Work on a new link road connecting | :08:14. | :08:17.
the Heysham Peninsula to the M6 motorway will begin in the New Year. | :08:18. | :08:21.
The ?124 million project was given final approval at the Court of | :08:22. | :08:26.
Appeal this morning. Lancashire County Council says it will mean a | :08:27. | :08:30.
new era for economic growth and improved transport. | :08:31. | :08:33.
Merseyside Police are using fogging devices to foil thieves this | :08:34. | :08:37.
Christmas. The devices, which are being installed in shops, will fill | :08:38. | :08:40.
the premises with dense fog when thieves attempt a robbery. The force | :08:41. | :08:44.
says it is also using tracking devices and forensic sprays to cut | :08:45. | :08:47.
retail crime. And four giant fish used in a ? .6 | :08:48. | :08:51.
million drug smuggling operation have been re`homed at the Blue | :08:52. | :08:55.
Planet Aquarium in Cheshire. The freshwater Arowanas were used in an | :08:56. | :08:58.
attempt to bring 17kg of cocaine into the UK two years ago. It was | :08:59. | :09:03.
discovered hidden in sealed bags among a consignment of more than | :09:04. | :09:05.
16,000 tropical fish. A woman from Lancashire has died | :09:06. | :09:14.
after contracting malaria while holidaying overseas. | :09:15. | :09:19.
Jane Rowley and her husband, Martin, had been back home in Lytham for two | :09:20. | :09:23.
weeks when they became ill. Lee Bennion reports. | :09:24. | :09:30.
Martin and Jane Rowley enjoyed the good life. A happy family, their | :09:31. | :09:33.
daughter, Victoria, got married in July. They ran a successful business | :09:34. | :09:38.
and had an exotic holiday home in The Gambia. They holidayed there | :09:39. | :09:40.
regularly and Martin even sponsored the local youth football team. They | :09:41. | :09:44.
had most recently returned home to Lytham a couple of weeks ago. Then, | :09:45. | :09:47.
at the weekend, they both became ill. | :09:48. | :09:54.
The only thing I can describe it as is the worst case of flu you could | :09:55. | :09:58.
ever imagine. The headaches get worse... | :09:59. | :10:00.
They had contracted malaria while overseas. | :10:01. | :10:04.
Sadly, Jane succumbed to the illness last night. | :10:05. | :10:11.
Every bodily function in her body began to fail on her. After that, we | :10:12. | :10:21.
made the decision that it was kind for her to turn the machine off | :10:22. | :10:25.
which is so sad. At the family carpet firm in Lytham today, | :10:26. | :10:28.
Martin's dad, Jim, was trying to keep busy, but couldn't disguise his | :10:29. | :10:34.
distress. The two children I feel so sorry for | :10:35. | :10:42.
them. Young James said, I'm 17. . I just lost my mum. We have accepted | :10:43. | :10:48.
chain into our family and couldn't ask for anyone better. I am going to | :10:49. | :10:54.
miss very much. `` we have accepted Jane. | :10:55. | :10:57.
Doctors say Martin appears to have made a full recovery. | :10:58. | :11:01.
Once he is home he will have to take a course of anti`malarial treatment, | :11:02. | :11:04.
and of course begin to come to terms with his loss. | :11:05. | :11:07.
Two men who were accused of being terrorists and who had threatened to | :11:08. | :11:12.
blow up a plane walked free court today. Tie`yab Subhani and Mohammed | :11:13. | :11:16.
Safdar were arrested in May after a plane heading from Pakistan to | :11:17. | :11:19.
Manchester was forced to make an emergency landing at Stansted. | :11:20. | :11:21.
`` Tayyab Subhani and Mohammed Safdar. | :11:22. | :11:24.
But, after new information came to light, the judge today ordered the | :11:25. | :11:28.
jury to clear the men. Our reporter, Kim Riley, joins us now from | :11:29. | :11:33.
Stansted airport. Yes, and Stansted is a designated a | :11:34. | :11:37.
report for reception of planes that have been hijacked or are undergoing | :11:38. | :11:40.
a midair emergency. They are taken to the other side of the era failed | :11:41. | :11:46.
away from the terminal so that normal operations can continue. That | :11:47. | :11:50.
is what happened in this situation but from the start there was | :11:51. | :11:53.
confusion as to the precise nature of the threat. It was an emergency | :11:54. | :11:59.
in which no one was injured amidst a big security operation. | :12:00. | :12:02.
All passengers and crew were safely taken off the Pakistani airlines | :12:03. | :12:06.
plane. A detailed search of the aircraft revealed nothing | :12:07. | :12:12.
significant. 42`year`old Mohammed Safdar had been put into a forensic | :12:13. | :12:16.
suit and threaded by police. He was held in custody for 73 days. The | :12:17. | :12:21.
airline did not disclose the findings of its internal | :12:22. | :12:24.
investigation of the incident to British authorities until ordered to | :12:25. | :12:28.
by the court. The prosecution originally claimed Mohammed Safdar, | :12:29. | :12:32.
on the left, and 30`year`old Tayyab Subhani had made threats to kill | :12:33. | :12:35.
passengers and crew and blow up the plane, but during the trial | :12:36. | :12:38.
different picture emerged. One passenger called that a trivial | :12:39. | :12:42.
incident. The judge said some of the evidence | :12:43. | :12:45.
before the jury against the two men had been tenuous and peppered with | :12:46. | :12:49.
inconsistencies. He instructed them to return verdict | :12:50. | :12:55.
's of not guilty on both counts Outside the court, solicitors for | :12:56. | :13:00.
the pair read a short statements. Mohammed Safdar is relieved this | :13:01. | :13:04.
ordeal is over. Due to information provided by | :13:05. | :13:11.
authorities by members of the crew of flight PK709 the UK was put at | :13:12. | :13:18.
considerable expense. This is a victory for him, his loved ones and | :13:19. | :13:21.
those that knew he was innocent of the allegations he was facing. | :13:22. | :13:26.
This case has collapsed after it became clear the whip this is had | :13:27. | :13:32.
not told the truth. It is also clear that had the inquiry documents held | :13:33. | :13:36.
by the airline 's been disclosed to the prosecution at the outset these | :13:37. | :13:38.
two men would never have faced this protracted ordeal and a Crown Court | :13:39. | :13:44.
trial. Can you say something to us in English? | :13:45. | :13:50.
Is that all right? The defence said there was gaping | :13:51. | :13:53.
holes in the evidence against the two men who had endured months of | :13:54. | :13:56.
stress while being falsely branded terror suspects. | :13:57. | :14:05.
I have a statement tonight from the Crown Prosecution Service saying, | :14:06. | :14:08.
during the course of the pile for this information came in revealing | :14:09. | :14:12.
significant inconsistencies in the accounts given by some which this | :14:13. | :14:16.
is. It is satisfied the decision to bring the case was correct in the | :14:17. | :14:24.
face of a serious allegation. `` the accounts given by some of the whip | :14:25. | :14:26.
kisses. `` the accounts given by some of the | :14:27. | :14:30.
witnesses. A hospital trust in Cumbria has | :14:31. | :14:39.
apologised after inspectors found elderly dementia patients were left | :14:40. | :14:42.
for hours without food. The Care Quality Commission said chronic | :14:43. | :14:45.
staff shortages at the Ramsay Unit in the grounds of Furness General | :14:46. | :14:48.
Hospital had impacted on patient safety. Suzanne Hailey reports. | :14:49. | :14:50.
Vulnerable patients left without breakfast or medication. Incomplete | :14:51. | :14:52.
record keeping and a number of patients at risk of weight loss and | :14:53. | :14:55.
malnutrition. Why? A chronic shortage of staff. What the CQC | :14:56. | :15:02.
report has highlighted is that staff are extremely caring and | :15:03. | :15:04.
compassionate but we have not supported them with sufficient | :15:05. | :15:07.
staffing. We are extremely sorry. | :15:08. | :15:14.
When the Ramsay Unit was it inspected in an unannounced visit in | :15:15. | :15:19.
October the Care Quality Commission issued warnings to immediately | :15:20. | :15:24.
improve standards. The unit was closed to new admissions. Today s | :15:25. | :15:30.
report says that the unit fell short of all three national care | :15:31. | :15:33.
standards. It describes how there was little stimulation and no | :15:34. | :15:37.
therapeutic input into patient care. It details concerns the trust did | :15:38. | :15:43.
not act in accordance with legal requirements on things like the | :15:44. | :15:47.
capacity can `` to consent. Staffing shortages had been overcome | :15:48. | :15:53.
using temporary workers. Since then, an internal review has been | :15:54. | :15:56.
carried out into what went wrong. Today, the trust apologised and said | :15:57. | :16:01.
its care and welfare service was not good enough. | :16:02. | :16:05.
The quality of care we have provided to our patients is not of the | :16:06. | :16:08.
standard and fell far short of the standard we would want. | :16:09. | :16:13.
We have let down our patients, our families and our staff. Staffing | :16:14. | :16:17.
levels have been increased by 2 % and last week the unit reopened | :16:18. | :16:23.
Now the trust is promising action to make sure these failings can never | :16:24. | :16:29.
happen again. Still to come on North West | :16:30. | :16:31.

You may well have heard the sad news today about the death of Lewis | :16:49. | :16:54.
Collins. For those of us of a certain age, he was one of the | :16:55. | :16:57.
toughest and most famous TV detectives of the '70s and '80s | :16:58. | :17:01.
But did you know Lewis Collins started out cutting women's hair in | :17:02. | :17:04.
Liverpool? The Wirral`born actor died yesterday at his home in Los | :17:05. | :17:08.
Angeles after a five year battle against cancer. Nina Warhurst has | :17:09. | :17:11.
been hearing about his early days on Merseyside. | :17:12. | :17:22.
Playing Bodie in The Professionals was what made Lewis Collins a | :17:23. | :17:30.
household name, but after leaving school in Birkenhad he played in | :17:31. | :17:33.
Merseybeat bands and worked in a hairdressers, where he met someone | :17:34. | :17:36.
who also went on to bigger and better things. | :17:37. | :17:46.
Have known him for ever, this is him and me in the dispensary in | :17:47. | :17:48.

had passed away. His hard man image was cemented when | :18:09. | :18:12.
he was turned down for the part of James Bond because his style was too | :18:13. | :18:20.
aggresive. But his screen debut came the same way as many Merseyside | :18:21. | :18:24.
actors in the '60s and '70s. You can see my carvings if you like. | :18:25. | :18:28.
A life that took him to Hollywood, the action hero died peacefully | :18:29. | :18:30.
surrounded by his family. He was brilliant, wasn't he? Classic | :18:31. | :18:43.
telly. The boys all wanted to be like him and the girls all thought | :18:44. | :18:47.
he was drop`dead gorgeous. Yes, in a nutshell. | :18:48. | :18:51.
They were once homeless themselves, with five children with nowhere to | :18:52. | :18:58.
go. Luckily they got help, shelter and food. Now Len and Carol Fowler | :18:59. | :19:01.
run The Well in Blackpool, giving hundreds of people hot meals, | :19:02. | :19:05.
clothes and friendship. Today the couple won a national | :19:06. | :19:08.
award given to unsung Christian Heroes. The ceremony took place at | :19:09. | :19:12.
the Palace of Westminster earlier. Earlier this week, Nazia Mogra went | :19:13. | :19:17.
to meet them. Cheers, sweetheart. I will be better | :19:18. | :19:20.
when I get this inside the! Colin comes to this centre every day | :19:21. | :19:24.
it's open. Some days it's a fry`up for breakfast. Today it's lunch and | :19:25. | :19:29.
his favourite veggie soup. It is a way of life, basically. It | :19:30. | :19:35.
is somewhere you can meet and greet people. You meet your friends here. | :19:36. | :19:39.
Carol and Len have been running The Well in Blackpool for ten years | :19:40. | :19:42.
They were once homeless themselves. Now they help others. | :19:43. | :19:47.
We get homeless people come here, people that are on benefit 's, we | :19:48. | :19:55.
have had families come in. It is a place for them to come and be part | :19:56. | :19:58.
of the community. How does your background and what | :19:59. | :20:02.
happens to you meet you want to do this? It was incredibly difficult. | :20:03. | :20:09.
We had five children and the eldest was only ten, to move out of place | :20:10. | :20:13.
which we called home into the unknown, really. | :20:14. | :20:17.
Caz and Simon are volunteers at The Well. Last Christmas their lives | :20:18. | :20:20.
changed. On a holiday from London, targeted by pickpockets, all their | :20:21. | :20:23.
money gone. But, thanks to the centre, they were able to get their | :20:24. | :20:28.
lives back on track. With the help of Len and Carol and | :20:29. | :20:33.
the church we were able to get married two weeks ago. Carol planned | :20:34. | :20:39.
pretty much the whole wedding, she was my maid of honour, and Lennon | :20:40. | :20:41.
gave me away. Now more celebrations. Today Carol | :20:42. | :20:44.
and Len's hard work was recognised nationally. They won the Inspire | :20:45. | :20:50.
Award at a ceremony in London. This award is for the role of | :20:51. | :20:54.
Blackpool, all the people that come. People have been kind to us and | :20:55. | :20:57.
helped us so we wanted to go out and serve our community. | :20:58. | :21:00.
Carol and Len may be having a well`earned day off, but the centre | :21:01. | :21:03.
in Blackpool tonight is still open, giving food and warmth to those in | :21:04. | :21:05.
need. Happy customers, well done to them | :21:06. | :21:17.
both. Indeed. Manchester United manager David | :21:18. | :21:20.
Moyes described last night's 5` thrashing of Bayer Leverkusen as his | :21:21. | :21:23.
team's best display since he took charge. United were dominant | :21:24. | :21:27.
throughout, Nani capping off an excellent team display with their | :21:28. | :21:31.
fifth late on. It means the Reds are through to the last 16 with a game | :21:32. | :21:39.
to spare. However, their neighbours across the | :21:40. | :21:43.
city had already qualified before their match against Viktoria Plzen | :21:44. | :21:46.
at the Etihad Stadium ` a game City won 4`2. Edin Dzeko with the fourth | :21:47. | :21:52.
goal for the blues. The bookmakers offering 16 to one | :21:53. | :21:56.
last night on either of them to win the Champions League, but 33 to one | :21:57. | :22:04.
on an all Manchester final. That would be good! | :22:05. | :22:08.
When it comes to a day out, Liverpool pretty much has it all. | :22:09. | :22:11.
There's the fantastic Albert Dock, The Cavern and Museums. Well, how | :22:12. | :22:15.
about adding a visit to the Library to the list? | :22:16. | :22:18.
Liverpool's Central Library is the number one tourist attraction in the | :22:19. | :22:21.
city, according to travel website Trip Advisor, making it the only | :22:22. | :22:24.
public lending library in a UK city to take the top spot. Elaine Dunkley | :22:25. | :22:26.
has been along for a look. In Liverppol there's plenty to see | :22:27. | :22:39.
and do, with attractions like the Albert Dock and Anfield. But it s a | :22:40. | :22:42.
love of the library which is getting rave reviews. | :22:43. | :22:53.
It is such a dramatic space, it is a stunning building with the atrium, | :22:54. | :22:58.
the steer course is crisscrossing. `` the staircases. Central Library | :22:59. | :23:02.
is a cultural gem, a mix of the modern and the classic. | :23:03. | :23:05.
After a ?50 million restoration it's now a top attraction. | :23:06. | :23:09.
You come in through an 1860s facade which has been restored then you see | :23:10. | :23:14.
a dramatic new space. Most people say while and take photographs. I | :23:15. | :23:19.
think it is commended for a public library to beleaguered so highly, | :23:20. | :23:24.
not least in a city like Liverpool which has tremendous attractions. | :23:25. | :23:28.
Ice to be rated so highly. Trip Advisor is voted on by members of | :23:29. | :23:32.
the public. I don't 124 attractions around the | :23:33. | :23:36.
city, Central Library came in at number one. | :23:37. | :23:42.
I phoned into Budweiser that it is number one in Liverpool. `` I've | :23:43. | :23:48.
found in Trip Advisor. It is unbelievable, I will | :23:49. | :23:51.
definitely bring my grandchildren round to see it. | :23:52. | :23:56.
Hands clean ` that is the only password and your inside a treasure | :23:57. | :23:59.
house of books to borrow and take home. | :24:00. | :24:01.
This is what libraries of the past looked like. | :24:02. | :24:04.
Reinvention is the key to not being left on the shelf. Here amongst some | :24:05. | :24:08.
of the rarest books in the world there is a kids corner and cafe | :24:09. | :24:11.
Trip Advisor will really boost the profile of the library. We have had | :24:12. | :24:15.
over 450,000 visitors already, numerous other people who may not | :24:16. | :24:19.
have thought of visiting the library will think what is that all about? | :24:20. | :24:23.
We are aiming to get 1 million in the first year which will be | :24:24. | :24:25.
fantastic. With visitor numbers up, it looks | :24:26. | :24:28.
like a happy ending for Liverpool Central Library. | :24:29. | :24:33.
It looks spectacular. It is an amazing building and what an | :24:34. | :24:36.
accolade when you think of what is in Liverpool that you can visit | :24:37. | :24:41.
Speaking of attractions... I knew you would say that! | :24:42. | :24:45.
What are you wearing tonight? No strawberries, anyway. | :24:46. | :24:51.
Something green, thank you. The last week of November has been so | :24:52. | :24:55.
boring, weather`wise. I have been saying the same thing | :24:56. | :25:00.
since Monday, I have been talking about clouds and light, patchy rain | :25:01. | :25:05.
or spits and spots of rain. I am so pleased I shall be able to say | :25:06. | :25:08.
something different for tomorrow because it will change. Tomorrow | :25:09. | :25:11.
will turn windy. That is not so good, I know, but it is something | :25:12. | :25:16.
different, and we will see blustery showers tomorrow. But tonight, back | :25:17. | :25:23.
to the quiet front. Plenty of clouds and light winds initially, the | :25:24. | :25:27.
clouds will thicken as we go into Donna bringing light patchy rain in | :25:28. | :25:33.
places. Also we will see some missed towards morning, as well, and | :25:34. | :25:38.
temperatures well above freezing, between four and seven Celsius. But | :25:39. | :25:43.
I think skies will begin to clear from the north, from Cumbria, and | :25:44. | :25:47.
here we could see temperatures closer to freezing in rural areas | :25:48. | :25:52.
tomorrow morning. We start of cloudy, still some light, patchy | :25:53. | :25:56.
rain around, then the winds begin to kick in. Some sunshine around | :25:57. | :25:59.
Cumbria tomorrow morning, we have not seen that for a while. In the | :26:00. | :26:05.
afternoon you can see cloud breaking up to allow sunshine but also plenty | :26:06. | :26:10.
`` plenty of lustre a showers. Also, very strong north`westerly | :26:11. | :26:14.
winds through the afternoon. When I tell you the temperatures tomorrow | :26:15. | :26:18.
will peak possibly in double figures, eyes of 10 Celsius, the | :26:19. | :26:22.
only thing is once you add on the wind chilled tomorrow it is not | :26:23. | :26:25.
going to feel quite as warm as that. It will probably feel more like six | :26:26. | :26:30.
or seven Celsius with the north`westerly winds. Then we head | :26:31. | :26:34.
into the weekend, heading into December. For Saturday, the last day | :26:35. | :26:38.
of November, we start with clear skies. Temperatures dropping fairly | :26:39. | :26:45.
close to freezing Saturday morning, but it looks as if we will see | :26:46. | :26:48.
sunshine because high`pressure slips back in on Saturday and Sunday. | :26:49. | :26:52.
Hopefully some sunshine on Saturday and for the first day of December, | :26:53. | :27:00.
back to boring, back to clouds. Thanks very much. Quickly have a | :27:01. | :27:03.
look at this before we go. Last night the Grammy award`winning | :27:04. | :27:10.
band Arcade Fire were in Blackpool. They took the tram to the concept. | :27:11. | :27:16.
As you can see, they also wore a giant Papier mache heads as they | :27:17. | :27:20.
walked to the venue and were accompanied by a Mariette she | :27:21. | :27:25.
banned. `` by a Mariachi band. Does anyone | :27:26. | :27:34.
know what their faces are supposed to be like? | :27:35. | :27:38.
They are Grammy award winners! I know, silly right. Thanks for | :27:39. | :27:40.
watching, goodbye. | :27:41. | :27:43. |
