Good evening. Tributes have been paid to a 15`year`old boy, who was

found dead in an alleyway in Oldham yesterday. Friends of the boy named

locally as Leon Cudworth, have posted messages on a special

Facebook page set newspaper his memory.

S set up in his memory. Leon's friends are stunned by his

death. They've been gathering to pay their respects. Many asked the

police to lay flowers on their behalf. His friends say he was too

young to die. A lot of people have come up yesterday and two minutes of

silence for him. Loads of people have already brought flowers up

with pictures of Leon and poignant messages. "Literally one of my best

mates. I'm missing you like hell already."

"From all the boys, we love you There's not a day you won't be in

Ripondon Road. Further toxicology tests are needed. Chief

Three people in Liverpool were taken to hospital in a critical condition

high. Two men in their 20s and a 16`year`old girl were placed in

intensive care at the royal Liverpool University Hospital, after

collapsing at a student residence in the city centre at about 7. 30.

Police believe they took a substance known as GEEBS, which is a chemical

used to clean alloy wheels. Their condition has improved. One man has

been released from hospital. Greater Manchester Police are

appealing for information after an alleged rape in the city centre bier

a man who claimed `` centre, by a man who claimed to be a taxi driver.

Firefighters from around the North West have been helping with flood

relieve efforts on the Thames. Around 30 Greater Manchester

firefighters have taken two boats and high volume pumps to help with

made up of officers on annual leave. A team of firefighters from Cumbria

has also spent the weekend in Berkshire, around Windsor.

Now the Accrington Pals is one of the best remembered battalions of

the First World War. It was formed after a call for volunteers and

suffered heavy losses on day one of the Battle of the Somme. A special

service today, a new banner was unveiled as the First World War

commemorations began. There's a lot of different projects coming up in

the next four years. This is the first. And the unveiling of this

today is very, very special. We re hoping we find more and more Pals

relatives. Every now and then a new one crops up, because someone has

done their family tree. It's really nice that we actually get to meet

them. A man from Burnley, paralysed in a cycling accident, is appealing

for help to buy specialist equipment to help him regain some movement.

across Greater Manchester. We're changing now throughout the

night`time period. It's been a cold evening. Temperatures down to around

two Celsius. We have seen a slight frost developing. Also, it is

starting to turn misty. There's hill fog affecting the Pennines. This

weather front starts to come in from the west. It works in through the

morning tomorrow. We do start to see the wind picking up a little more.

Blustery conditions tomorrow, rather than gale`force winds. A wet day on

and off as well, as that rain works towards the north`east. Day time

temperatures of nine Celsius. Slightly better weather on Tuesday,

despite the fact it will be showery. Wednesday another decent day.

normal winter weather for the week ahead would be fairly unremarkable.

Some rain in places, some strong winds at times, but of course we are

in the midst of no normal winter. It is worth emphasising that with -

the weather this week will be less angry and volatile overall, a fair

bit calmer. Calmer but by no means dry. Outbreaks of rain will spread

across much of the UK through the night. There will be some snow mixed

in across the hills of central Scotland. Temperatures slowly

starting to rise through the night but they could be at or below

freezing across northern Scotland first thing, maybe a bit icy as the

weather pushes northwards. A dull, damp, dismal Monday morning with

outbreaks of rain covering much of the UK. The rain may not yet have

reached the east coast of England, a misty and murky start here. The rain

not too heavy for most but there will still be some heavy bursts

particularly over south Wales and south-west England and it will be

quite windy here through the day, although nothing like the storms of

last week. As the wet weather pushes northwards there will be some snow

even to relatively no levels across northern Scotland. It is a dull day

with outbreaks of rain, but something a bit drier and
