held in an early morning rahd. Also tonight: More than 250 police

statements, which may have been altered, have been recovered by

Hillsborough investigators. I am in the Lake District

discovering what is being done to stop the spread of a disastrous

disease that is laying wastd to larch trees.

Police are this evening continuing to question a nurse who's bden

rearrested in connection with an investigation into the poisoning of

patients at Stockport's main hospital. Victorino Chua was

detained by officers at his home in the town early this morning. Police

have been investigating the deaths of patients at Stepping Hill

Hospital, whose drips were `llegedly contaminated in 2011.

It was 6:30am this morning when officers from Greater Manchdster

Police arrived at Victorino Chua's terraced house in Stockport. Quarter

of an hour later Mr Chua was led from his home in to a waiting police

van before being taken away to be interviewed. Mr Chua has bedn on

bail since he was initially arrested in 2012. He was due to answdr his

bail next week. But it's understood his re`arrest follows the elergence

of new evidence in an investigation that's lasted for almost three

years. Greater Manchester Police told us:

Staff at Stepping Hill raisdd the alarm after noticing unexpl`ined low

blood sugar levels in patients in the summer of 2011. Eight p`tients

who were poisoned by contamhnated products later died. The de`ths of

three of them, Tracey Arden, Alfred Weaver and Arnold Lancaster, are

being treated as murder. Police say saline drips were contaminated with

insulin at the hospital. Prhor to Mr Chua's arrest, nurse Rebecc`

Leighton spent six months in prison before being cleared of poisoning

patients at Stepping Hill. `` six weeks. All charges were dropped But

she was sacked after admitthng stealing drugs from the hospital.

Since 2011 additional securhty measures have been put in place here

at Stepping Hill Hospital, `nd they are amongst the most stringdnt in

the country. CCTV in most treatment rooms. Two nurses will now

administer intravenous drugs and insulin to wards and security

patrols will take place within the hospital grounds.

A man who killed his mother and duster with an axe after behng sent

home from a psychiatric hospital has been sentenced to life in prison ``

mother and sister. John Jenkin attacked Alice McMeekin and Katie

Jenkin at their home in Millom in Cumbria. Two days earlier hd had

been sent home from a mental health unit following a suicide attempt. He

will be detained for treatmdnt. An inquest in Kendal has he`rd how a

man was swept away in the Rhver Rothay in Ambleside. The body of

Simon Martindale, who was 48 and from Hest Bank in Lancashird, was

found shortly afterwards floating in Windermere. The South Lakes coroner

Ian Smith ruled his death w`s an accident.

Police looking for 20`year old Matthew Jordan, who went missing in

the Lake District, have called in an underwater search team. The student

from Middlesbrough was last seen in Bowness early yesterday aftdr a

night out with friends. The independent police complaints

commission says it has recovered statements which it says have been

altered. It's now known that 22 people are being treated as possible

Warrington on Monday. An office at a Warrington btsiness

park has been converted into a court. From Monday this is where

evidence about how the 96 dhed will be heard by a High Court judge and a

jury. The hearings could last until beyond Christmas. And the

Hillsborough families know they ll have to sit through evidencd which

will be hard to listen to. Ht is going to be a difficult timd. It

could take 12 months. It cotld be longer. That is another long journey

for the families. The inquests are one of three new investigathons into

Hillsborough. Operation Resolve is looking into whether any crhmes were

committed before the FA Cup semi final between Liverpool and

Nottingham Forest. And the Independent Police Complaints

Commission is investigating any alleged police misconduct after the

event. Today the IPCC revealed it had found another eight polhce

statements which had apparently been altered. It brings the total to 251.

The IPCC has identified 13 officers as possible suspects. Operation

Resolve has also identified 13 possible suspects, though four of

these are also on the IPCC's list. That means 22 people, some police

officers and some from other organisations, face investigation

for a range of possible offdnces including possible manslaughter

perverting the course of justice or misconduct in public office. The new

inquests follow the findings of the Hillsborough Independent Panel in

2012 about events before and after the disaster.

Andy joins us in the studio now What can we expect on the fhrst day

of the new inquests? In terls of evidence, very little, almost

nothing. The coroner will sdlect a jury from a panel of about 050

people who have to be able to commit to a year to set on this inpuest

jury. The jury will want to know these people do not have anx

football or emergency services connections which could possibly

make them biased. Even if Monday is a housekeeping nuts and bolts day,

it is still a really signifhcant moment for their families. The

original inquests returned verdicts of accidental death. That is

something the families want re`examined and Monday is when that

process finally begins for them On this week's Sunday Polithcs, we

will be looking at that. Coronation Street actress B`rbara

Knox has been arrested for drink`driving. The 80`year`old, who

plays Rita Tanner in the ITV soap, was held at her local policd station

in Knutsford. Cheshire Police say she was bailed pending further

inquires. Work on the Second Mersey Crossing

at Runcorn will begin next lonth. Halton Council and the consortium

behind the project say they've managed to make savings of ?250

million on the original 30 xear construction and maintenancd budget

of ?2 billion. The bridge should be completed by autumn 2017.

Chester Zoo has released im`ges of its new ?30 million "Islands"

project. the biggest in UK zoo history, will

be completed next year. Vishtors will be able to tour islands which

replicate the landscapes of South East Asia, providing a home to

creatures including Sumatran tigers, orangutans and crocodiles. @round

about how you do that. To introduce a piece of legislation

retrospectively that does not give people any notice of these financial

problems, educational probldms, emotional problems, and it does not

save any money. It is wrong. So a year on from the changes, plenty of

hopes, but plenty of fears too. Earlier I spoke to the Wirr`l West

Conservative MP Esther McVex who is also employment minister. And I

asked her whether there are enough houses to go round. What we have

seen is things like the Kent properties `` there is not vacant

properties but we know therd are things on a home swaps, two

bedrooms, people staring thdy would like to swap and downsize, so we are

going to work with those thhngs In the meantime, they are having to pay

money they can ill afford to pay. The houses are not there for them to

move into. That is not what we are seeing. You have missed your target

massively. Now, because that was over the duration of the parliament,

so we are on course. The bigger issue, you have 1.7 million people

on waiting lists who cannot get a house of the size they needful is.

that rocked, Radio Caroline is reborn, and drops anchor in

Liverpool. Thousands of larch trees ard being

felled across Cumbria in a bid to try and stop the spread of ` deadly

fungus that's attacking the species. Foresters say it's the only way of

bringing the so called P. R`morum disease under control. But trees

weren't its first target. I am at a country park and this

whole area was once awash whth rhododendrons which had been here

for more than 100 years. Thdy have been uprooted because they were

infected. The disease startdd in rhododendrons and went to l`rch The

larch trees have been coming under attack.

If you go down to the woods in Cumbria, you are likely to see

this. Thousands of larch have been felled as they try to stop the

spread of a destructive disdase We do not know yet what the extent of

the disease is going to be. We are dealing with it as it arises. P

Ramorum was first spotted in 20 2 at which point people thought ht was

only affecting rhododendrons, but then it was realised it was killing

larch trees. It was first spotted in the south`west of England btt it has

spread up the West Coast through Wales into Cumbria and southern

Scotland. The forest that H`wkshead as 22,000 visitors a year. The past

six weeks, they have held around 6000 larch. We read plant as

sustainable management. The impact of the disease means that wd are

selling some of the trees wd would not have done otherwise. Up to

150,000 trees could be affected We identified a number of trees that

could be affected. We are sdlling a buffer zone at least 100 metres The

evidence is that most of those trees will have been infected. Evdn as the

Felling continues they are looking to the future with optimism. Because

of the way we manage the forest already trees are growing underneath

the larch trees, so for exalple here we have Hawthorne which is puite

well`established and lovely holly. As more larch disappears, the look

of the wood is going to change. It will be different, but it is

wonderful woodland. You are going to have to have a new look herd. You

are from The National Trust. What are you going to do? At the moment,

grass it over and read profhle it because we have to be careftl what

we plant with because a lot of shrub species are susceptible and you

cannot plant into ground whhch has been impacted by this. The park is

still open. There is no danger to the public. That is an important

message. We are open for business. The disease is not an issue for

humans or dogs or anything dlse You have a lot of land with a lot of

larch trees. What is happenhng? You are presumably having to sell them?

`` fell them? Yes. Do you think you are going to get on top of ht? As a

nation, all foresters are trying to keep on top of the disease but it is

questionable whether larch has a future in the landscape. Thdre might

not be any larch in the next ten or 15 years? You do wonder how it is

going to third in the futurd. The changing face of our countrxside.

The pirate radio station th`t changed the face of British

there? Radio Caroline was the first station to broadcast pop music and

for the next month broadcast pop music to thousands of fans. Radio

Caroline first broadcast in 196 . At the time, no British station played

pop records. By broadcasting from C, it got around laws and shook up the

industry. This is Caroline North. To celebrate its 50th annivers`ry,

Radio Caroline will be broadcast from Liverpool for a month. First on

the decks will be John Dwyer. It was great to be 12 miles out at sea

broadcasting and there was no question of it being legal or

illegal, you were just broadcasting to a huge audience. There wdre two

Radio Carolines. Caroline North was anchored close to the Isle of Man.

Radio Caroline was important to Liverpool because it meant fans had

a chance for a radio station playing the music transforming the city And

Diane Kane knows how import`nt the station was, especially to the local

Merseybeat scene. She's been selling records here since 1951. It had a

tremendous influence on loc`l people. I used the lesson dtring the

day in the shop. It was being asked for the recording they playdd which

were different to the BBC, which were a little bit safe. I thought,

this is a good thing. Radio Caroline is still going online but if you

live in Liverpool you should be able to hear it on FM radio. Bro`dcasts

start Monday for a month. Someone asked, how did it work in

rough weather? We cannot answer that.
