Good afternoon. A North West Bishop will use his

Easter Sunday address to speak out against moves to legalise assisted

suicide. The Roman Catholic Bishop of Shrewsbury, Mark Davies, whose

diocese includes Cheshire, Wirral and part of Greater Manchester, will

tell worshippers that the sanctity of human life is at risk. But

opponents say he is out of touch. As Nina Warhurst reports. He has chosen

the most important date in the Christian calendar because he wants

his warning to be heard. That a bill allowing terminally ill patients to

end their lives marks a dangerous embarcation on to a slippery and

sinister slope. So many across the country are today concerned with how

we care for those at the end of life, for the elderly and for the

sick and to breach the very sanctity of human life with this change of

the law is going to leave those people more vulnerable.

But this woman says the Bishop is out of touch. She remembers her

husband's agony as he deteriorated with motor neurone disease and the

pain of having to go to a clinic in Switzerland to help him die.

He couldn't feed himself, take himself to the toilet, couldn't do

anything. To him, there was no life left. He did say at the end of his

days, he said, I'm breathing, but I'm not living.

Tens of thousands of Catholics in the north`west come under the

Shrewsbury diocese but not all of them agree with what their Bishop

says here on Sunday. But it will strike a chord with many. The

assisted dying Bill will enter the House of Lords next month.

A cannabis farm's been discovered by police after a toddler made a 999

call. These plants were found by police in Salford. The officers were

sent by a call`handler after the emergency call on Wednesday was cut

off. It's thought the two`year`old had been playing with the phone and

made the call accidentally. A 29`year`old man's been arrested.

The actions of those involved in the 2011 riots in Salford are being

recreated in a play. Hundreds of people were arrested as a result of

the trouble which spread to the North West from London three years

ago. The theatre company Footlights is using word`for`word accounts of

youths who looted shops and torched cars, and their victims. Alex

Worsick reports. They decide to gather near Salford

Precinct and then the trouble escalates. These actors are

recreating the exact movements of those involved.

At the time of the riots, I was working with a lot of young people

in their summer holidays and little children and they were getting

scared at what they saw on the news. What caused it? What effect does it

have on people? And why are these young men so angry?

The play's researchers have interviewed the police, business

owners, residents and one of the ringleaders, who's serving more than

five years in prison. His mother's been watching the rehearsals.

I just sat crying, to be honest. I found it very emotional seeing my

life and Zac's life up there. But I think it's going to get some

messages across. The theatre company's using the play

to help those involved, including Zac Challinor, develop skills for

the future. He now believes that he can do

something and there is light at the end of the tunnel and, hopefully, he

will get a job when he comes out. Which is all he wants. He wants that

opportunity. The Queen Is Dead runs at The Lowry

in Salford on Monday and Tuesday. Three Liverpool players have been

named on the short list for the PFA's player of the year award. Luis

Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are nominated along with captain Steven

Gerrard. Manchester City's Yaya Toure is also on the list.

Burnley are on course to win automatic promotion to the Premier

League this evening. They're beating Blackpool 1`0 with just over ten

minutes to go. If they win and Derby fail to win later, they'll go up.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Wigan's play off push is right on

track after a 3`0 win over Reading. Goalless draws for Bolton and

Blackburn. In League One, much needed wins for

Crewe and Oldham. Tranmere were beaten by Gillingham and Preston

lost at Brentford. In League Two, wins for Bury and Fleetwood, draws

for Accrington and Morecambe and Rochdale were beaten 3`0 at home.

In Super League, St Helens stay top despite getting beaten by Wigan 33

points to 14. Warrington thrashed Widnes 44`6. Salford are at half

time in their game against Huddersfield and are 10`22.

Today we have seen temperatures rising if Scotland but again

tonight, with the clear skies and light wind temperatures will fall

sharply, and for many of us, we are looking at a touch of frost. The

satellite picture tells a story nicely. This belt of cloud is

sitting in the far north-west of Scotland, we have had this cloud

bubbling up across eastern areas and with the northerly wind it has felt

cold in East Anglia. That cloud is going to melt away, we will get an

easterly breeze picking the cloud back in again later in the night in

eastern areas and we still have this cloud and rain in the far north-west

of Scotland, but for most we will have clear sky, light wind, Ness are

the temperatures in towns and city, spin it
