A 15`year`old girl is in a serious but stable condition after she was

hit by a car in Bolton when an elderly driver fell ill. The man in

his eighties became poorly at the wheel on Chapeltown Road in Bromley

Cross. The teenager suffered serious head injuries. The pensioner is also

in a serious but stable condition. Police investigating the death of a

man on Merseyside believe he may have been "in an altercation" before

he died on Saturday. The 37`year`old was found collapsed at a property on

Hargreaves Street in St Helen's. Officers want to speak to "three

miles in their late teens or early 20s" seen with him on Broad Oak Road

earlier. A postmortem examination was inconclusive.

The Catholic Bishop of Lancaster says he fully supports the

Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, in his concern for the poor.

The Right Reverend Michael Campbell, told BBC Radio Lancashire local

people are helping the less fortunate in the community.

Sport and Peter Moores has taken charge of Lancashire for the last

time before taking over as England Cricket Coach. His departure is a

blow to the club which was taken by surprise by the timing. Yunus Mulla

charge. The new England coach has agreed to stay on before joining the

national side next week. Yes, the club was delighted for him, but with

18 months left on his contract, the timing was a surprise.

It would have been better for us at the end of the season, when we could

have put this season to bed and we could have planned on a longer term

basis, building into the season. But it doesn't happen like that and it

is a difficult period for us now. The 51`year`old led Lancashire to

their first outright County Championship in 77 years act in

2011. He has rebuilt his reputation during his five years with the Red

Rose. 16 years I've coached now, and it is

a long time, and through that time you evolve and you get better. I am

very proud of lots of things I have already done.

The club is now having to make a decision a lot sooner than expected

or wanted, it could appoint a new coach from outside or promote from

within. That could be Captain Glen Chapple, who for now will assume a

greater role. He is involved in everything `

tactical and the selection of sides, and he will have a very important

leadership role to play. The club maintains it does have a

succession plan in place, but it will take time before a new coach is

Look out for a bit of rain in the next few hours, but as we go into

tomorrow it's a largely dry day, I am pleased to say. As we make our

way through into the first part of the night, in comes the rain. That

will stay with us into the early hours of bank holiday Monday

morning, but otherwise it's largely cloudy. Those temperatures only

dropping to around nine or ten degrees, so it really is going to be

quite a mild night. Bank holiday Monday, then, mainly dry, mainly

cloudy as well, but there might just be a little bit of brightness once

we get into the afternoon, with a couple of showers skating through

parts of Cheshire. However, as we make our way back into the working

week, we are going to have to put up with a fair amount of rain at times,

so do make the most of it when it's dry and bright, but I think we will

probably look back on this bank holiday as a fairly decent

Hello. Well, it was another lovely sunny day across the north of the

UK. What a difference over the south. The rain set in for the

course of the afternoon. There's more of that to come. It has been

getting heavy across southern England. A narrow band for London,

for the south Midlands, to south Wales and the south west. Lots of

water on the roads. Overnight it will move away out towards the west.

A few showers across northern England and into Northern Ireland

for a time. Otherwise it looks like staying largely dry. A mild night as

well. Nothing like as cold as last night. Just the far north perhaps

seeing temperatures dipping away under clearer skies. A cloudy start

for many of us tomorrow. The sun will break through every now and

then. Areas bordering the Irish Sea looking good as well. You will

notice showers developing further south. As we go into the afternoon,

a zone of heavy showers across the south Midlands and into Wales.
